Itik-ItikThis is a 2nd series of transcriptions that I have started in 2018 as a way of popularising Filipino Folk Music to a larger audience, especially in the Classical World. I would not recommend these transcriptions for a beginner pianist but are within the reach of intermediate to advanced level pianist. These folksongs have been arranged with performance considerations in mind to create the illusion of a difficult transcription without a need for great technical facility. The choice of key signature, which may be daunting at first, actually allows for greater scope and complexity in LH accompaniment figures. RH passages are written in such a way as to limit position shifts allowing easier execution. Furthermore, great care has been taken to create smooth ‘voice-leading’ in the LH accompaniment figure, especially in the bass line and the chords. RUSTLE OF SPRING (Frülingsrauchen Op. 32 No.3) by CHRISTIAN SINDING - PIANO SOLO. Christian Sinding’s most well known work, Rustle of Spring is a solo piano piece written in 1896. It is written in Salon style as a piece meant for entertainment. It was very popular in the United States. Bearing the expression marking agitato, much of the piece is played with a rapid arpeggio in the right hand part, while the left hand carries the melody. The work's title indicates that its sense of constant motion is symbolic of the excited restlessness of springtime. The score has some technically challenging sections, but is, for the most part, easier to play than it sounds, with most of the rapidity made up of simply arpeggiated passages.

Schott Music - Digital #Q3154. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q3154). Der Titel des Klavierzyklus’ Nacht-Urnen ist ein makabres Wortspiel mit dem französischen Begriff Noct-urne. Die Assoziation Urne - Grabgefäß ist beabsichtigt, denn die Gattung des romantischen Nachtstücks für Klavier wird in diesen Stücken - zumindest im übertragenen Sinne - zu Grabe getragen. Das erste Stück Nocturne greift auf den dreiteiligen Typ des Chopin’schen Nocturnes zurück. Einer von zart getropften Tönen umspielten Melodie folgt ein bewegt - aufgewühlter Mittelteil, dem sich die Reprise des ersten Teils anschließt, diesmal allerdings wird die Melodie von leise rauschenden Skalen umspielt, ehe eine beinahe nüchterne Coda die musikalische Quintessenz brennglasartig zusammenfasst und bündelt. Dieses Stück entstand 1998 und war Pflichtstück beim Internationalen Schubert-Wettbewerb 2000 in Dortmund. Die drei folgenden Stücke bilden gewissermaßen eine Einheit. Nummer zwei Ciacona notturna ist ein höchst virtuoses Werk für die linke Hand allein, in dem sich große Klavierkomponisten, die Werke für die linke Hand allein geschrieben haben – Alkan, Brahms, Godowsky, Ravel, Prokofieff – gleichsam ein nächtliches Stelldichein geben. Das dritte Stück Unendliche Melodie – Melodie der Unendlichkeit (für die rechte Hand allein – meines Wissens außer einer Etüde von Alkan das einzige existierende Werk für die rechte Hand allein) spielt mit der Idee eines Zeitkontinuums, das schon vor Beginn des Stückes unhörbar im Raum war und sich auch nach dem Ende des Stückes in alle Ewigkeit weiter fortsetzen könnte. Ein einzelner Ton f in der Mitte der Klaviatur wird 55 Takte lang angeschlagen und über ihm entfaltet sich eine weit gespannte Melodie, die die rechte Hand alleine ausspinnt. Exakt beim Höhepunkt der Melodie (es ist der Goldene Schnitt), wechselt das f zum e, das weitere 33 Takte lang angeschlagen wird, während die Melodie darüber wieder zurück zur Mitte findet. Diese 88 Takte symbolisieren die Unendlichkeit: 8 als barockes Zahlensymbol für die Vollkommenheit der Ewigkeit und die liegende 8 als mathematisches Symbol für die Unendlichkeit. Schließlich ist in dem Titel des Stückes noch eine Anspielung auf Richard Wagners Begriff der Unendlichen Melodie enthalten. Nach einem Stück für die linke und einem für die rechte Hand allein, kann sich als viertes nur ein Unisonostück anschließen, in dem beide Hände stets die gleichen Töne, aber in unterschiedlichen Oktavabständen und verschiedenen rhythmischen Akzenten spielen. La scala dell’inferno (Die Höllenleiter) stürzt von höchster Höhe in rasenden Skalen in die tiefsten Regionen des Klaviers hinab, unterbrochen von zwei kurzen Zitaten des Dies Irae in der Mitte. Der Schlusssatz schließlich Marche funèbre knüpft in seiner düsteren Unentrinnbarkeit an die großen Trauermarschvorbilder Beethovens (op. 26) und Chopins (op.35) an. Die sich in schwerem Fünfertakt entlang rollenden düsteren Tonkaskaden werden in der Mitte von einem gläsern-durchsichtigen Mittelteil unterbrochen, der in seiner gleißenden, fast schneidenden Helligkeit Assoziationen an Nahtoderlebnisse nahe legen mag. Die Nacht-Urnen op. 32 wurden 2001 im Museum Baden in Solingen von dem Pianisten Rainer Klaas uraufgeführt, dem der Zyklus auch gewidmet ist. - Stefan Heucke.

Three Ivory Magnolia Fantasies (2003) for piano solo is a three movement work largely inspired by Dr. Gary Powell Nash’s experiences in Mississippi as Associate Professor of Music at Mississippi Valley State University. Movement one, titled Buddy’s Path is a result of the two main premises of the movement which include blues riffs of Buddy Guy and Beethoven’s Pathetique Sonata. Buddy’s Path begins with a slow introduction and transitions to faster music. After section 2, the slow intro music returns and once again transitions to section 1 material, alluding to the formal structure from Movement 1 of the Pathetique Sonata. Movement two, titled Dedication, a slow movement is also ternary, with A, B, cadenza and A’. It begins with cadenza-like passages, using 32 note rhythms and then moves to slower paced music, with longer note values, although actually marked at a slightly faster tempo. The B section continues the slow paced music and progresses to a Chopin-like cadenza, which closes the B section. The A’ section returns to the slower paced music with longer note values. Movement three, titled Fast Blues on the Wall is based on a blues tune titled On the Wall, an upbeat and fast tempo tune demonstrating the barrelhouse blues tradition. Using a ternary design, the A and A’ sections of Fast Blues on the Wall feature a doubled twelve bar blues-like progression where the corresponding phrases in a standard twelve bar blues progression are doubled in regards to measure length.

La collection ANACROUSE offre aux pianistes novices et confirmés un large choix d’œuvres classiques, allant de la Renaissance à l’époque moderne.<br><br>Proposer tout à la fois des « incontournables » du répertoire classique et des pièces de compositeurs parfois oubliés, toutes d’une valeur pédagogique indéniable, tels sont les objectifs que nous nous sommes fixés. Chaque pièce, vendue à l’unité, a fait l’objet d’un travail éditorial attentif, tant sur le plan de l’établissement du texte musical que de sa gravure, afin de garantir aux musiciens les conditions indispensables aux plaisirs tirés du commerce fréquent de ces œuvres.<br><br>Les partitions sont proposées sous la forme d’ouvrages traditionnels (feuillets papier), et disponibles également par téléchargement.<br><br><br><br>Issu d'un ensemble de six menuets pour orchestre écrit dans les années 1795 par le compositeur, Menuet en sol majeur n°2 WoO 10 se compose, tout comme les cinq autres menuets, de 32 mesures ayant chacun une battue à trois temps. Le manuscrit original des six menuets est perdu et il n'existe actuellement que des esquisses de la version pour orchestre. La transcription pour piano des menuets a sans doute été faite par Beethoven lui-même et cette version pour piano à deux mains est publiée à Vienne en mars 1796 par Arteria. Elle portait comme titre : « VI Menuetten / Für das clavier / von Herrn / Ludwig van Beethoven / 2ten Theil » Dans ce menuet, Beethoven adopte une forme classique en trois parties, celle du « menuet avec trio ». Le rythme pointé utilisé dans ce menuet est une figure temporelle de prédilection du compositeur. Il représente le rythme caractéristique de cette danse : à l'origine, le menuet est une danse française campagnarde qui a été par la suite adopté à la cour du roi Louis IV. Réjouissance et allégresse résonnent dans le sautillement de cette pièce miniature. Sur un ton par moments énergiques par d’autres langoureux, son balancement évoque à demi mot la personnalité stylistique du personnage et permet au pianiste de se divertir sur un morceau de Beethoven qui se destine à l'expression corporelle. Malgré la difficulté d'éditer sa partition chez des éditeurs allemand, la sonate n°20 parut finalement à Vienne en 1805 au Bureau de l'art et de l'industrie.<br> Cette sonate se caractérise par une grande simplicité dans l'écriture, mais montre plus d'originalité dans le traitement compositionnel que la première sonate de l'opus 49. Luminosité, profonde grâce et richesse dans le développement du thème sont représentés dans cette deuxième sonate. Elle se compose de deux mouvements comme dans la première : un Allegro ma non troppo et un Tempo di Menuetto.<br> Le deuxième mouvement est un menuet d'une grande originalité. Il utilise un thème d'une chanson populaire des pays rhénans sur un ton accueillant d'une grande gaieté. Il faut noter que Beethoven aime particulièrement ce thème car il l'a employé dans d'autres oeuvres comme dans son septuor opus 20 et l'Adagio de son Trio opus 11.<br> Dans la sonate n°20 figurent les prémices des grandes difficultés des 32 sonates que propose Beethoven. Facile et intéressante au niveau de l'écriture, cette pièce amènera le pianiste à entrer dans les méandres profonds de l'esprit du compositeur. Partition + Biographie + Notes sur l'oeuvre
