This beautiful hymn of hope amid doubt makes a fresh new addition to a church or wedding prelude. The first 3-4 pages are firmly in the intermediate range but it gets progressively more moderately advanced. This arrangment follows the form of the Getty's recording but is not a transcription of the recording. Rather, the intro and interludes are peppered with references to the old hymn 'My Faith Has Found A Resting Place' and there are some alternate harmonies in the 3rd verse. There are 3 different lengths to the arrangement, see the first page of music for the specific performance details. 3 transpositions included: A, Bb (original key), & C. Run time is approx 4:08 but it depends on which performance options are taken.

He is not only the most significant and popular composer ever to come out of Latvia; he always speaks to his listeners with a fervent intensity that seems to point to something higher. This higher aspect is without a doubt something that stands above the world of humanity but is also present within each person: divine nature. “I am deeply rooted in nature, in the nature of the North. It influences all of my music. The nature we know is also quite various; we have four very distinct seasons. The winter is very long, the summer very short and therefore all the more beautiful and longed for. The seasons in between are quite dramatic.†In 2009, as a kind of “encoreâ€, Vasks wrote Vasaras vakara mÅ«zika –Music for a Summer Evening based on old sketches and therefore rather strongly anchored in tradition. Vasks says: “It describesthe quiet end of a summer day. The sun sets. Slowness. Memories of previous experiences rise. With the memories’ appearance comes an increase in intensity. Towards the end, a kind of folksong is heard: ‘We have survived the time of tyranny and have kept our identity’. Don't let the introduction deceive you, Soaring On New Horizons is a lively and thrilling piece. After the first melodic section, listen for the arpeggios to take-off to the adventure on new horizons. A very artistic piece, Soaring On New Horizons is uniquely geared to performance in which both the music and the performer fly (or at least his fingers do). Moreover, at a jaw-dropping finish, if fingers could fly, then they would have just dived into a stunning landing; and if they could breathe, they would most certainly be out of breath.One musical work that greatly influenced and inspired many of the musical techniques was Scherzo No.2 by Chopin.On the score side of things, 15 pages long, the music is in the key of E major and is mostly in 6/8 with many exceptions. Most arpeggios are written as a performer would efficiently play them (switching between hands)-- which makes the score an easier sight-read but also gives the appearance of choppiness rather than flow. This piece is without a doubt an advanced piece mainly for one reason: speed. With a relatively high tempo, changes in meter make timing difficult, but the real challenge comes with the lightning fast arpeggios in the second section.      .

For composition, she studied with Narcis BONET (who later invited her to the Conservatoire Américain of Fontainebleau as accompanist and teacher of French Diction), Yoshihisa TAÃRA, and Edith CANAT de CHIZY. Having taught for a time at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, she is currently professor of piano at the Conservatoire Erik Satie of Villebon-sur-Yvette, Marie-Agnès Nataf has a double career of performer and composer. In both areas, she is especially attracted to chamber music, for the rich musical and human exchanges that this type of music permits. She has written her works Trois mélodies sur des poèmes de Marie-Isabelle SOLANO, Révolte sans paroles and Elan brisé for her colleagues the mezzo-soprano Nicole PARAMYTHIOTTI and the flutiste Isabelle MARCHAL with whom he has given concerts for many years. As a performer, she has premiered works by composers such as Gian-Paolo CHITI, Gloria COATES, Jean-Marie MACHADO, Yoshifumi UMEZAWA, Miao Wen WANG, without speaking of her own compositions. She also tries to discover high quality works of music which are rarely performed, especially works by women composers such as Thérèse BRENET, Dianne GOOLKASIAN-RAHBEE, Ruth LOMON. The voices promised me scholarships and fame. The voices questioned my logic. The voices tried to make me doubt my motives and character. The voices ridiculed me and my desires to do good. The voices told me that they loved me, but wouldn't wait for me if I went on a mission. All of those voices were demeaning of me if I went on a mission. They also promised me joy, but only if I decided not to go on a mission. I ultimately decided to go on a mission. By going on a mission I was put in a situation where I could testify of God's gospel truths. Those people hearing the truths had the opportunity to pray to God to find out for themselves if what they had been taught was true. Those people that talked to God in prayer joined the church. Why? Because God answered their prayers. Some of those new members went on missions to other lands converting through the spirit of the Holy Ghost others, who in turn went on missions to other lands.
