Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.935500 Composed by Kazys Daugela. Christmas,Contemporary. Score. 4 pages. Kazys Daugela #6292371. Published by Kazys Daugela (A0.935500). Four-part suite The Seasons for narrator and orchestra Lithuanian composer Kazys Daugėla created on the basis of K. Donelaitis poem The Seasons plots and the most famous artist Vytautas Kazimieras Jonynas (1907-1997) woodcut illustrations. These Donelaitis poem The Seasons illustrations have become classics of Lithuanian art. Composer created his paintings of the suite using native Lithuania Minor folk song melodies. Some of them are written almost 200 years ago. Most songs used are from Christian Bartsch prepared and published by Lithuanian folk songs Song of the votes. If you do not doubt that the song’s soul is in the melody, it should also be true, that the song is understood correctly only when we sing or listen to it – so believed Ch. Bartsch. He could not possibly foresee that the songs that sounded at his time will be wiped out in parallel with the East Prussian population. But after all, maybe he did predict? Therefore, he was rescuing them. The ancient epics and worldview associate The Seasons with cyclical idea of time, which is expressed by the view of The Sun’s path in the sky. The main hero of this musical work is The Sun and the diversity of nature, life and work associated with it. In the Eternal Circle we born, age, die - everything repeats, nothing new happens. In the second part of the The Cares of Winter, the Lithuanian traditional Advent song Sodai, sodai, leliumoj was used and developed.

Score. 4 pages. Timothy Stapay #872051. Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.1280638). A piano solo arrangement of the country-classic, It Was Almost Like A Song, famously sung by Ronnie MilsapIt Was Almost Like a Song is a song written by Hal David and Archie Jordan, and recorded by American country music singer Ronnie Milsap. It was released in May 1977 as the first single and title track from the album It Was Almost Like a Song. It became one of the greatest hits of his recording career upon its release in 1977. In July 1977, It Was Almost Like a Song was Milsap's eighth No. 1 song on the Billboard magazine Hot Country Songs chart. The song also became his first Billboard Hot 100 chart entry, peaking No. 16. and also on Billboard's Hot Adult Contemporary Singles chart, where it peaked at No. 7.It Was Almost Like a Song provided the basis for the title of Milsap's biography, Almost Like a Song, which he co-wrote with Tom Carter.Lyrics:Once in every lifeSomeone comes alongAnd you came to meIt was almost like a songYou were in my armsRight where you belongAnd we were so in loveIt was almost like a songJanuary through DecemberWe had such a perfect yearThen the flame became a dying emberAll at once you weren't hereNow my broken heartCries for you each nightAnd It's almost like a songBut it's much too sad to writeNow my broken heart.

Published by Paul Taylor (A0.803372). This hymn is presented traditionally and then with a variation followed by a cadenza. Although the cadenza sounds impressive, it is actually not difficult to execute. This hymn version is suitable as a recital piece or for special music in a church setting. A pianist or organist could also use it as a basis for accompanying the choir or congregation.

Piano Solo - Advanced Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Joseph Dillon Ford. 21st Century, Contemporary Classical, Impressionistic. Score. 22 pages. Published by David Warin Solomons
The pdf file contains the original score (in letter format) followed by the somewhat larger copy with dedication by the composer and fingerings by Valentin Bogolubov who premiered the 3 Chromicons.<br> <br> The sound sample is the live performance.<br> <br> The Three Chromicons were premiered by pianist Valentin Bogolubov at the Société de concerts de St-Bruno, Saint-Bruno, Quebec, Canada, on 27 January 2007. Bogolubov's adventurous, technically demanding program, which also featured the works of Alexander Scriabin and Jean Chatillon, was accompanied by video animation of numerous works of art, four of which were created by the composer (among them, the Chromicon No. 3).<br> <br> Ford explains the significance of these unique scores:<br> <br> "In both my earliest chromicons, which I had begun to create by the 1980s, and in those I continue to make today, color is the element that links what is seen to what is heard. Unlike composer Alexander Scriabin, who may have been a true synaesthete as the result of a rare neurological condition enabling him actually to hear colors, my approach to color music has been by way of analogy. Although the tones in a musical scale and the colors of a prism both result from specific vibratory frequencies, scales can be replicated in various octaves while there is no comparable transposition observable in the case of the spectrum. However, the analogy between pitch and hue is implicit in the term "chromatic scale" (the Greek chrôma signifies "color"), and on that basis it is possible to equate the twelve tones of Western music with the hues on a twelvefold color wheel: red, red-orange, orange, yellow-orange, yellow, yellow-green, green, blue-green, blue, blue-violet, violet, and red-violet."<br> <br> "By placing the pitch names of the chromatic scale in a separate band around the periphery of a such color wheel, much like the numbers on the face of a clock, and by rotating the central color wheel, it is possible for any given pitch to be aligned and associated with any hue. Such an easily constructed device, which I have dubbed the "chromonomicon," is the key necessary to decipher the musical meaning of my chromicons. The chromicon can be thought of as a calligraphic text in which each discrete area of color is a separate letter."<br> <br> "Although there are literally millions of possible colors, all of them can be categorized as one of the twelve hues shown on the chromonomicon. Instead of being written from left to right or from right to left, the color-letters in a chromicon are arranged concentrically. The shapes of the individual letters, usually painted in watercolor and "illuminated" with metallic paints, colored pencils, and other media, are the result of each artist's creative meditation. The personal meaning of the chromiconic text as a whole emerges during and after this meditation, and may be expressed by a conventional title or accompanying commentary."<br> <br> "Now, anyone wishing to realize a chromicon is at liberty to follow any path—straight or curvilinear—from the centermost letter to the periphery, constructing a cantus (melody) by notating the musical pitches associated with each contiguous color-letter encountered along the way. The cantus thereafter serves as the structural basis of a new, freely composed work. The individual pitches in the cantus may be moved to any octave, and may be repeated any number of times before proceeding to the next pitch in the sequence. Customarily, once the final tone of the cantus is reached, the entire melody is heard in reverse (retrograde), resulting in a palindrome. That palindrome is itself subject to varied repetition, so that in formal terms, each realization of a chromicon amounts to a 'mirror' theme with variations."<br> <br> "Chromicon No. 3 travels even further back in collective human memory to the eighteenth century. For all its contemporary melodic and harmonic inflections, the style is pervasively contrapuntal, summoning to mind the polyphonic keyboard textures of Bach and Handel. It eschews the worldly strife and diversions mirrored in the first two chromicons, maintaining a dignified, highly stylized manner throughout, but with its unexpected final cadence on D, there seems to be a fleeting intimation of transcendence."<br> <br> Video of Chromicon III<br> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VHMw-vzZlGE

Broadway,Country,Film/TV,Musical/Show,Singer/Songwriter,Standards. Score. 8 pages. Timothy Stapay #810154. Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.1212957). The famous country music song, Tennessee Waltz is arranged as played by internationally famous pianist Jon England.Tennessee Waltz is a popular country music song with lyrics by Redd Stewart and music by Pee Wee King written in 1946 and first released in January 1948. The song became a multimillion seller via a 1950 recording – as The Tennessee Waltz – by Patti Page. All versions of the lyrics narrate a situation in which the persona has introduced his or her sweetheart to a friend who then waltzes away with her or him. The lyrics are altered for pronoun gender on the basis of the gender of the singer. The popularity of Tennessee Waltz made it the fourth official song of the state of Tennessee in 1965. Page's recording was inducted into Grammy Hall of Fame in 1998.Lyrics below:I was dancing with my darling to the Tennessee WaltzWhen an old friend I happened to seeI introduced her to my loved oneAnd while they were dancingMy friend stole my sweetheart from meI remember the night and the Tennessee WaltzNow I know just how much I have lostYes, I lost my little darling the night they were playingThe beautiful Tennessee WaltzI was dancing with my darling to the Tennessee WaltzWhen an old friend I happened to seeI introduced her to my loved oneAnd while they were dancingMy friend stole my sweetheart from meI remember the night and the Tennessee WaltzNow I know just how much I have lostYes, I lost my little darling the night they were playingThe beautiful Tennessee WaltzInternational piano-playing phenomenon Jon England has been giving enthusiastic audiences what they want since 1979 when, at the relatively young age of 19, he wowed night-club goers in his native Great Britain with sparkling and unique renditions of everything from “New York, New York†to Gershwin’s “Rhapsody In Blueâ€.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.516916 Composed by Antonio Vivaldi. Arranged by Santino Cara. Baroque. Score. 87 pages. Santino Cara #2968835. Published by Santino Cara (A0.516916). These 9 concerts are some of the many instrumental works by Antonio Vivaldi. We decided to transcribe these piano concertos for the form only, the melodic intensity, the harmonic behavior and style which in our opinion we felt it was important as a reference to describe the Vivaldi's works. Are concertos extracted from very important works such as: The estro armonico Op.3 of 12 concertos published in Amsterdam between 1717 and 1722, dedicated to Ferdinando de 'Medici. Il cimento dell'armonia e dell'invenzione Op.8 of 12 concerts, opera of the four seasons composed around 1723 and published in Amsterdam in 1725 and that some of the concerts Vivaldi wrote for Johann Pisendel of Dresden. Later the same Pisendel It made some elaborations on these concerts. Other concerts we transcribed were extracted from works for flute, string orchestra and continuo. In this small collection are inserted concerts that the author has transcribed taking as a basis the manuscripts, some kept at the National Library of Turin and others kept at the Saxon State Library in Dresden. Therefore all the transcripts are original and unique of its kind.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.987080 Composed by Eric Paul Nolte. Contemporary. Score. 12 pages. Eric Paul Nolte #566749. Published by Eric Paul Nolte (A0.987080). This piece is one of an album of my contemporary classical compositions. Yes, I too wince at offering you something saddled with this oxymoron--contemporary classical--but this phrase is now an irresistible, commercially recognized category defying any principled protest from the ranks of wounded musicological curmudgeons like me. The style here employs a tonal palette that celebrates the more or less common practice of composers from J. S. Bach to Ravel, Prokofiev, and the 20th century American songbook. You will see that I reject Arnold Schoenberg's assertion that by 1910 tonality had exhausted itself, and needed to be reinvented according to an aesthetics that dismiss our scales and harmonies as purely arbitrary human conventions with no basis in nature. On the contrary, I believe that we are endowed by our nature to respond emotionally to our traditional materials of music in the same way as nature equips us to respond to the taste of food and drink. We differ in our taste for savory, sweet, and sour, but it is wrong to say that our very capacity to taste is a merely cultural convention. There is biology, and then physics too! By the same standard, it can't be true that one person's taste for arsenic is as valid as another's taste for beer or kumquats. The major triad is a force of nature, like the sun, wind, and rain! I also like big fat juicy 13 chords, and contrapuntal weaving of melody! I believe the purpose of music is to sway us emotionally, and if it can uplift us too, so much the better! While I am not ashamed to write a bare triad, unadorned by chromatic alterations (much less by clusters of chord collisions) I have nevertheless employed much complicated harmony. Moreover, some passages are written in a spiky harmony that might be analyzed as bitonal, as at the meno mosso section, beginning at measure 112, where the mood I wanted to set inspired me to write the theme in C minor while the left hand climbs up from the bottom of the keyboard in a widely spaced, D-flat 13 arpeggio. I have composed these pieces with the skills of intermediate to early-advanced pianists in mind. This piece demands the ability to play some counterpoint between two voices in one hand. There is a section that requires one to play moderately fast octaves, but nothing as difficult as the G minor Prelude of Chopin (to say nothing of his harrowing octave Etude from Opus 25!) While there are many polyrhythmic passages, none is more complicated than two-against-three notes. All said, there is nothing here to make your hands (or, I dare say, your ears) bleed. The performing time is around nine minutes and a breath or three. I have a number of videos posted on YouTube.com, I have a website under construction, ericpaulnolte.com, and, since 2011, an occasional blog of my ravings on life, love, and the cosmos, at ericpaulnolte.blogspot.com. You may write me at nolte0125@gmail.com.

Piano Solo - Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Claude Debussy (1862-1918). Arranged by Stanley M. Hoffman. 21st Century, Impressionistic. Score. 4 pages. Published by stanleymhoffman.com
This piece was composed for a call for scores for Vox Novus' 15 Minutes of Fame series for pianist Stephen Porter; he did not choose it for performance in his "Debussy Reimagined" concert, but the composer is very fond of the music this call for scores left behind. Iberian Tango is inspired by motifs taken from Iberia, the second movementof Claude Debussy’s triptych Images pour orchestre. While quite takenwith all three movements, the composer found himself being drawn most to the movement called Ibéria, especially the melody which forms the basis of the opening and closing sectionsof the Tango.
