So, one day during a lull in guitar lessons I wrote her a song. I truly believe she is the light in my life and that without her my life would be about as interesting as a stone. When I am with her I feel that I can accomplish anything. She inspires me to be better than I am because she is in every way better than I am. She has more patience, kindness, is more caring and less concerned about how others view her than anyone else I know. I'm glad I finally worked up the courage to ask her to marry me. I was afraid to open my mouth and speak what was on my mind. After many months, when I thought I was going to lose her completely, I opened up my feelings to her, and to my great relief she had some of the same feelings that I had. She didn't say yes she would marry me right away, (I had to lock her in a room to get that response) however, over time she did decide of her own free will and choice to marry me. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.1172162). Just A-Wearyin' For You is a piano solo arrangement of the 1901 hit pop song by Carrie Jacobs-Bond, which was originally a ballad for voice and piano. This 12 bar melody was once the most famous tune in the world. Â I have kept that tune intact but set it to a flowing accompaniment that is part Classical and part New Age. Â Because the melody was so short I created an extended bridge between the verses. Â I didn't want anything to compete with that beautiful first section, so I created a solo Left Hand countermelody for the bridge. Â An expressive piece of sheer beauty from beginning to end. Â 2 page score; 2:40 minutesThis piece is also found in my book, Carrie Jacobs-Bond, Popular Songs 1900-1925, a collection of 51 of her songs I have arranged for piano solo, which is also available on this site.

This charming piano solo was first performed by its dedicatee, Jacques Leguerney’s good friend and muse Thérèse Cahen (1897-1944), in the Salle Debussy-Pleyel. They met around 1925. Cahen was the first person outside of his family to encourage his musical aspirations. For years, they met every Saturday to read through and discuss his music. She not only helped him with piano and harmony, but also performed his early chamber works, recruiting from her entourage to help him find high level interpreters for his music. Other early Leguerney works that she premiered included the Trio pour violon, violoncello et piano; the Sonatine pour flûte et piano; and two vocal chamber works presented by the Société Musicale Indépendente (S. M. I.), Epitaphe guerrière and Clair de lune for voice, flute and piano. Their friendship lasted until Cahen was deported from Paris on July 31, 1944, only a few weeks prior to the Liberation of Paris. Working with the Center of the Union Générale des Israélites de France in Saint-Mandé (a Parisian suburb), Thérèse Cahen had dedicated herself to the care of children of deported French parents. She left Paris with these children in the Convoy 77, and was taken to the gas chamber of Auschwitz. She left a letter for him, along with her grand piano, which remained in his apartment until his death.My dear Jacques,It is impossible to write on this little page how much I have appreciated your kindness toward me for years and years, and how much happiness this has given me: there have been thousands of Saturdays, and I thought of them every day of the week. Probably you didn’t realize the influence you have had on me: it seems that my whole personality, my way of thinking and feeling has been transformed by you; it is a very deep imprint. If I am taken and in consequence you read this letter, tell yourself that I will continue to count the Saturdays in order to have an idea of the number of songs composed during my absence and that I will be delighted to hear them when I return. It was a heart stopping moment. The type that slows down time and changes all priorities and perspectives. On the front side of the paper it said, PLEASE READ in big letters. On the back was the following… Dear Mom, I am writing this to inform you about something I didn’t have the strength to tell you in person. I have depression. I know you think that we all go through a stage where we are sad it’s true, but this is not the case. I thought that I just had a sad time too until I realized I had been thinking about killing myself many times. I know that this is hard to hear but I felt it was important to tell you something I had been holding back for 5 years. I hope you can think of me the same after this note, and know that me thinking about killing myself is NOT your fault. Love, Faith After an immediate trip to the doctor, it was discovered that Faith didn’t have clinical depression but that she suffered from a hormonal imbalance in her body. She had been waking up in the middle of the night over half of her young life and wandering around while the rest of the family slept. With a small prescription, and lots of love, Faith headed off to start middle school and a magical year that would follow. Shortly after this experience, Faith composed a new song called Finding Hope and finished up on three others she had been working on.

In my experience, I would guess that Clair de lune has been the final, unfulfilled and unattained goal of piano students more than any other piece in music history.If you recognize the truth in this statement, you owe it to yourself to investigate this edition, in which for the first time, all of the technical challenges are clearly identified with their solutions. Playing a piece of music is not the same as mastering it. Surviving a performance is not the same as playing with confidence. There is no joy in being vulnerable to embarrassing mistakes. It is no way to live. You deserve a set of instructions (this edition) that enables you to master your performance, play with confidence and beauty, not an edition which blocks your access.Clair de Lune is so familiar that it is hard to appreciate just how revolutionary it (and Debussy) are. The word revolutionary is overused, so we fail to realize that Clair de Lune is difficult to play largely because it was difficult to notate. If the faculty of the Paris Conservatory didn't understand or appreciate Debussy, why would we expect the staff of a publishing company (as competent as they were) to understand the demands of his music. Debussy broke the boundaries of conventional piano notation. That means contradictions and ambiguity, which must be addressed.A note about fingering: where and why it is or is not presented. I've done my best to prepare an edition of this music that will enable the Intermediate Classical pianist to prepare and perform this masterpiece. My goal is to include information that the pianist needs, but does not already know. For Claire de Lune, some passages are dependent upon specific hand/fingering solutions, while other passages are either (1) equally playable with different fingering, or (2) only playable by what essentially becomes known as a self-evident solution. For example, m9-24, and m61-62, fall into this category. Octaves can only practically be played with fingers 1 and 5. I provide a lot of finger numbers, but that is not the same as creating an edition that can be played without significant staff reading. The premise is that an intermediate musician should have access to advanced material--that is a musician is motivated to play pieces one level more advanced. Attempting to bridge more than one level is not my goal.

Like G position, F position, etc. The paper key might have a slightly difference on the key size. It is because different manufacture have their own different key sized width. This paper keys should fit most keyboards or piano. This paper keyboard can help piano beginners start lessons and helps make practice easier. However, it is NOT RECOMMENDED for long term use. How to Print This pdf is designed for two sided (duplex) printers. Both sides on the same paper supposed to be in up side down format. Make sure you enable the two sided print function. You should be able to have a paper scale for three octaves on both sides. If you used duplex printing and your printer didn’t line up the scales, please use hand feed. Because every printers have different settings. You just need to try it in a different ways a couple times. Materials: I used the card stock from Sam’s club. It is 110lb greeting card paper. It is the cheapest one on the market. It cost $7.98 for 275 sheets. All of the papers are laminated.

About the arrangement(See also (PopJazzKeys.com/The-Bare-Necessities)This is a relatively easy to play solo piano jazz arrangement of THE BAR NECESSITIES. The song is a traditional jazz tune made famous in the Walt Disney movie THE JUNGLE BOOK. The video and audio recording I posted here features me playing the short version of my arrangement. When played as written (with all the repeats) it is almost 4 minutes long.What's cool about this arrangement is that you can easily add a bass player and even an entire rhythm section while playing it the same way as you would in a solo performance!Who this arrangement is best suited forI think everyone who likes the song except perhaps advanced jazz pianists will have fun learning and playing this arrangement. I arranged this piece originally with my younger piano students in mind, who have smaller hands than most adults. That’s why there are no large intervals or big jumps in the left hand. Something generally found in ragtime and early jazz piano styles. This means that my arrangement is perfectly suited for pianists with smaller hands. Of course pianists with large hands (like myself) can play it too (ha-ha!).I think it is also a great piece for pianists who want to familiarize themselves with playing jazz piano. And since I wrote out every note and articulation, they can play along with the recording and hopefully pick up the traditional jazz feel along the way.Although the arrangement is not very difficult, it poses several challenges for the inexperienced pianist, as explained later.How I arranged itAs I already explained above, there are no large intervals or big jumps in the left hand to be found. Instead, I focused more on polyphonic arranging techniques, in both hands. I also used guide tones and inversions.The left hand imitates the accompaniment style of a traditional jazz guitar or banjo player with added half time bass figures that are typically played by a tuba or upright bass an octave lower. Tips for how to learn this arrangementWhen I teach this song to my students I strongly recommend to them to listen to the original version and my recording a lot, rather than explaining to them how swinging eighth notes and jazz articulation work. By the way, there are a few bars where you hear me playing straight eighths on the recording (as indicated in the sheet music). I decided to add articulations so that pianists who have not a lot of experience with playing jazz will find it easier to play it with the appropriate “touchâ€. It's a good idea to check those out.Should you not be familiar with playing polyphonic passages with one hand, you might want to practice very slowly at first and attempt to balance the different voices appropriately. Listening to the recording will also help with discovering dynamic possibilities. I didn’t want to clutter up the sheet music with dynamic markings, so listening to the recording is really the only way to figure out what dynamics I had in mind.

These are the words I wrote just before her funeral.... I. The Presence - She was here. I held her the day she was born. I held her and watched her smile at me less than 24 hours before she departed. She only knew love. No one around her ever showed her anything else that humanity had to offer; like hatred, heartache, pain, control, or anger. II. The Shock - She feels a Hand beckon her to leave her mortal coil, and she enters into a world we cannot yet reach.. With no one home, her former body ceases to wake. The unimaginable has happened and we struggle to reverse it. Finally, it becomes clear that we cannot. She sees us cry and she wonders what is happening. Having never known sorrow, she only sees that love didn't cause this response. She wants to comfort us with the love she knows, but we do not yet sense it. III. The Questions - One word has confounded mankind from its creation; Why? We have never found an acceptable answer. We ask, Why did this happen? and What did I do? and What didn't we do right? and Why couldn't it have been me? among others. We only know that her absence has carved holes in our hearts shaped like her. She tries to tell us, You can still love me. I just cannot be seen by you now. It does not mean your love cannot make me happy. I still want it. I still feel it. Please feel my love for you. IV. Letting Go - The day comes to bid farewell to the vehicle by which she came to us. We struggle to cope that we will see her face no more except in pictures. Because of the brevity of her life, memories are few to relive, but to do so is to recall happiness. In sorrow, we return her to the earth. All that is left is to return to recall, to talk to her, to bring flowers and other gifts, and to await the day we follow her. V. Remembering - The days and years follow. Normalcy slowly sets back into our lives. The holes in our hearts will never fully heal. But the salve of her love and her memory help to soothe the ache. We still return to where we placed her mortal home, where we laugh and cry in tandem, where our hearts ache to fill the void left by her departure. It will never really get better, but it will become easier for her love to dull the sting of her absence. VI. The Reunion - One by one, we will feel the same Hand bid us to come. The same events will befall those left behind each time. One by one, she will greet us as we reunite with her. We marvel at how she has stayed with us as we stay to comfort those we had just bidden farewell. The rest cannot be imagined by we that remain..........
