Tenor Voice,Vocal Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.869626 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. 65 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #5018215. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869626). Dante Alighieri (1265-1321) is of course a major Italian poet. But the story of his youthful infatuation with Beatrice caught my eyes. I got his book La Vita Nuova in a dual language edition published by Dover and proceeded to look for the right set of poems for my setting. There are four long poems that I found beautiful and fabulous, but I ended up using only portions of the first three. Even so the song cycle is quite long, at 28 minutes. The work is set for tenor and piano. Audio link: https://thomasoboelee.bandcamp.com/album/beatrice-2019-from-la-vita-nuovaVideo link: https://youtu.be/-x6buAsLAWo

Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869856). I read a recent article in the New York Times about Isaac Newton's Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica, published in London in 1687, saying that it had a reputation for unreadability. And that it was written in Latin immediately stoked my curiosity. I went to Amazon and bought a copy of the original facsimile text in Latin and an authoritative English translation by a Harvard Professor of the History of Science, I. Bernard Cohen. The third book in Principia really piqued my interest: the gravitational forces between the sun and planets!!! This work is in six movements. 1. Regula III 2. Propositio VI 3. Tenor Voice,Vocal Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.869854 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Contemporary. 37 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #6366229. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869854). Program note. IMHO Berlioz's Les nuits d'été is a masterpiece. When I discovered that Berlioz used poems from La Comédie de la Mort by Théophile Gautier, I immediately purchased a copy on Amazon. In it I found a very macabre and morbid poem describing a dialogue underground in a cemetery between a worm and a dead girl. I was of course immediately intrigued and decided to set the poem for tenor and piano. The normal thing to do would have been a duet between the worm and the dead girl, but I decided to set the entire dialogue for tenor alone. Enjoy!!!

The Last Rose of Summer - Tenor with piano in A

Tenor Voice,Vocal Solo - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1492638 Composed by Thomas Moore. Arranged by Alex Nunes Rodrigues. Folk. 2 pages. Alex Rodrigues #1069316. Published by Alex Rodrigues (A0.1492638). The Last Rose of Summer is a work deeply rooted in Irish culture, originally penned as a poem by the renowned poet and composer Thomas Moore in 1805. Moore, regarded as Ireland’s national poet, was inspired by an 'Old Blush' rose while staying at Jenkinstown Castle in County Kilkenny, Ireland. The poem was published as part of his Irish Melodies collection between 1807 and 1834, and later set to music by fellow Irishman John Stevenson. The song gained widespread popularity and was incorporated into the opera Martha by the German composer Friedrich von Flotow, which premiered in 1847 in Vienna. This sheet music has been adapted for voice and piano, preserving the original melody true to the composition by Moore and Stevenson. The piano arrangement has been simplified to provide an accessible experience for music teachers who, even without extensive piano skills, wish to accompany their students. This arrangement maintains the melodic and emotional essence of the piece, offering a version that honors its traditional nuances while making it approachable for beginner to intermediate musicians. The Last Rose of Summer captures the essence of melancholy and the passage of time—universal themes reflected in the farewell to the last vestige of a vibrant summer. The melody, paired with Moore’s poetry, evokes a profound sense of loss and longing, with the solitary rose serving as a metaphor for the fleeting nature of life and the seasons. The simplicity and beauty of this piece have made it a classic, both in literature and music, perpetuating Irish tradition and touching the hearts of listeners worldwide.
