Alto saxophone in Eb and piano - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q25482 From Children's Corner. Composed by Claude Debussy. Arranged by Wolfgang Birtel. This edition: Sheet music. Edition Schott - Single Edition. Downloadable. Schott Music - Digital #Q25482. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q25482). The famous Golliwogg’s Cakewalk is the final piece from Debussy's cycle Children’s Corner which consists of 6 miniatures for piano, written for his daughter in the years 1906-1908. The style corresponds to that of ragtime, a dance which was in vogue around the turn of the century. In the middle section, he parodies several times the beginning of the opera Tristan and Isolde by Richard Wagner with whom Debussy had a rather ambiguous relationship. The present arrangement now allows musicians to play the popular movement in a version for melodic instrument with accompaniment.

Piano Accompaniment, Alto Sax, Baritone Sax - Intermediate - Digital Download By Richard Galliano. Arranged by Diego Marani. Individual Part, Score, Solo Part. 12 pages. Published by Diego Marani
Richard Galliano is a French accordionist of Italian heritage. After a long and intense period of study, at 14, in a search to expand his ideas on the accordion, he began listening to jazz and heard records by the trumpet player Clifford Brown. The second decisive meeting took place in 1980, with the Argentinean composer and bandoneonist Astor Piazzolla.
Astor strongly encouraged Richard to create the French “New Musette”, as he himself had previously invented the Argentinean “New Tango”.
Some later collaboration include Chet Baker, Eddy Louiss, Ron Carter, Wynton Marsalis, Charlie Haden,
Gary Burton, Michel Portal, Toots Thielemans and Kurt Elling.

This arrangement for alto sax with piano of one of his most famous and performed pieces (with clear rhythmic references to the Piazzolla's "Libertango") is suitable for classroom, repertoire and recital.

Alto Saxophone,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.587578 Composed by Richard Wagner. Arranged by David McKeown. Concert,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards,Wedding. Score and part. 5 pages. David McKeown #4365478. Published by David McKeown (A0.587578). The Bridal March was written by Richard Wagner in 1850, scored for orchestra and chorus, and opening the third act of his opera, Lohingren. It is best known in the English-speaking world as Here Comes the Bride. Queen Victoria’s daughter used the music for her marriage in 1858, and its popularity has endured ever since. This version is arranged as a solo for Alto Saxophone and Piano.Musicians at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances, especially at weddings. The melody is mainly in the solo part. The performance time is a little more than one minute. The short sample here and the full length version on the youtube link are from the Clarinet version of this arrangement.Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with phrasing and expressive playing. The rhythms are straightforward though there are unexpected accidentals in the middle section which might pose a challenge for finger coordination and reading. Alto Saxophone,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.587624 Composed by Various. Arranged by David McKeown. Baroque,Concert,Romantic Period,Standards,Wedding. Score and part. 24 pages. David McKeown #4594683. Published by David McKeown (A0.587624). The Wedding Album is a collection of four beautiful and timeless wedding favourites, arranged for Solo Alto Saxophone with Piano accompaniment. Whether for that Special Day, for a recital, or for your own entertainment, these arrangements are ideal for players at an intermediate level or higher. The 24-page file includes the piano accompaniments and the separate solo parts at the end. Ave Maria was written by Franz Schubert in 1825 as the sixth song in his song cycle based on Walter Scott’s poem The Lady of the Lake. It is perhaps the best known of all his melodies, adapted for piano by Franz Liszt, and for orchestra many times since. It is often sung with the Latin lyrics of the Catholic hymn of the same name and has been heard everywhere from the Disney movie Fantasia to the funeral of J.F. Kennedy. The Prince of Denmark’s March is better known nowadays as the Trumpet Voluntary and is often used in wedding ceremonies. It was in fact written for organ, with the melody played on thetrumpet stop. Written around 1700, for many years this piece was mistakenly attributed to Henry Purcell. Only recently has it been established that the composer was Jeremiah Clarke, organist at St Paul’s Cathedral. It is somewhat ironic that this composer of a wedding mainstay was himself a victim of unrequited love. He consequently shot himself in the cathedral graveyard. Felix Mendelssohn’s Wedding March was originally written in 1842 as incidental music to Shakespeare’s famousplay, Midsummer Night’s Dream. When Queen Victoria’s daughter used the music for her marriage in 1858, it became instantly popular and has remained a wedding favourite ever since. These four arrangements are also available as single titles for $3.99 each. Eagles' Victory Song

Alto Saxophone,Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1182606 By Dirk Quinn Ban…
(+)
Alto Saxophone,Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1182606 By Dirk Quinn Band. By Charles Borrelli and Roger Courtland. Arranged by Marcony Carvalho. 20th Century,March,Patriotic,Traditional. Score and part. 2 pages. Zedas Couve #782353. Published by Zedas Couve (A0.1182606). The Eagles' Victory Song was the creation of Charles Borrelli and Richard Courtland Harrison, a Washington, D.C. music teacher and arranger for jazz guitarist Charlie Byrd. The song was mistakenly credited to R. Courtland by the Copyright office and in various editions of Eagles programs from the late 1950s through the 1960s.In 1963, Jerry Wolman purchased the Philadelphia Eagles. Wolman was a sports fan growing up and loved hearing the Washington Redskins' fight song Hail to the Redskins at games. Spawning from his admiration for the Redskins' song, Wolman searched for musicians to implement a team song for the Eagles, and founded The Philadelphia Eagles' Sound of Brass band in 1964. The group included 200 musicians and dancers, and was led by Arlen Saylor, who was appointed as the Eagles' entertainment director in 1966 and is credited with penning an arrangement of the fight song that the band played at home games during halftime in the 1960s. Wolman's push to popularize the fight song flew under the radar, however, and in 1969 the Sound of Brass band was discontinued. The song came back into light in 1997, when Bobby Mansure, founder of an unofficial Eagles pep band, asked team management to allow the band to play in the parking lot during home games. Management gave Mansure's pep band an audition, allowing them to play at two preseason games to gauge fan reaction. The song went over so well that Mansure and the band retained a permanent position as the official Philadelphia Eagles Pep Band.In 1998, following Mansure's reintroduction of the song, Eagles management attempted to rebuild its popularity among fans by changing some aspects of the song: they modified the key, changed the opening lyric from Fight, Eagles Fight to Fly, Eagles Fly, and re-marketed the song with that as the title. In addition, they appended the popular E-A-G-L-E-S chant—which had emerged in the 1980s—to the end of the song. While management planned to play the song throughout the 1998 season, the Eagles' poor performance that year caused them to hold off reintroducing the song until the following year. The Eagles fared better during their 1999 season, and subsequently, the fight song was played after every score.

Alto Saxophone,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549750 Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Children,Christmas,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 17 pages. Jmsgu3 #3532695. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549750). Duration: ca. 3:15 Score: 10 pages, solo part: 2 pages, piano part: 4 pages. Tchaikovsky paints a very mysterious mood in this favorite masterpiece from the Nutcracker Suite. It is also a Christmas favorite. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Tchaikovsky is probably the most popular of the great composers in America. His music certainly appeals to musicians. Likewise, it appeals even to folks who don’t normally listen to serious music. This is probably because of his most noteworthy melodies. Above all, he writes with great emotion. This certainly makes a most noteworthy if not an unforgettable impact. Education First of all, He attended classes at the Russian Musical Society. Even more, He also attended the St. Petersburg Conservatory. There he studied music theory with Nikolai Zaremba. He also consequently studied composition with Anton Rubenstein. It seems like Rubenstein came under criticism from a group of Russian composers known as the Five. The Five The Five certainly rejected Western musical influences. They rather sought to use elements from Russian music. They furthermore wanted to use more exotic musical materials. Western Techniques More than other Russian composers, Tchaikovsky studied modern Western music. He certainly develops his music like the European masters. So, rather than repeating a motive, he moves to a new key. He then introduces a different theme in the new key. Hence, he maintained his independence from the Five. Even more, he became the first Russian composer of international stature. Influences Tchaikovsky was probably influenced in his ballet scoring by Léo Delibes. Richard Wagner influenced his symphonic writing. Tchaikovsky’s most famous works include the 1812 Overture, The Nutcracker Suite, and Swan Lake. Also famous are the Violin Concerto in D and the six symphonies. The greatest of the six symphonies may be No. 6, the Pathétique. Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a The Nutcracker Suite is a ballet that was performed for the first time in December 1892 in St. Petersburg. To begin with, the original ballet failed to attract a positive reception. However, the ballet suite became probably one of the most popular of all of Tchaikovsky’s works. The ballet suite became even more famous in the 1960s. It is now performed all over the world, particularly during the Christmas season.

Alto Saxophone,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549254 Composed by Nikolay Andreyevich Rimsky-Korsakov. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 15 pages. Jmsgu3 #3473685. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549254). Flight of the Bumblebee Flight of the Bumblebee is, to be sure, an orchestral interlude composed by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov for his opera The Tale of Tsar Saltan. Of course, Korsakov intended to portray a bumblebee's chaotic flying pattern musically. Nowadays, this piece is one of the comparatively more famous classical works because it frequently appears occasionally in popular culture. The piece appears notably in the opera at the close of Act III, Tableau 1. This is when the magic Swan-Bird changes the Prince (the son of the Tsar) into a bee so he can fly away to visit his father. Interestingly, at this point in the drama, his father, in effect, does not know that he is alive. Korsakov Background Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov (1844 –1908) was a uniquely famous composer from Russia. He was likewise a member of an infamous assembly of composers called The Five. Korsakov was furthermore an expert in orchestration. His correspondingly most famous orchestral compositions- Capriccio Espagnol, the Russian Easter Festival Overture, and the Scheherazade suite- are essential monuments of the standard music repertoire. Also comparatively very important are his suites and excerpts from his 15 operas. Korsakov used Russian folklore and fairy tales, such as Scheherazade, in his music. Nationalistic Style Like fellow outspoken composer Balakirev, Korsakov believed in creating a nationalistic, Russia-centric style of classical music. The new style was called Orientalism. It similarly relied on native Russian materials, exotic scales, and experimental harmonic, melodic, and rhythmic procedures. This practice, conversely, ran counter to the developments in Western musical culture. Musical Developments Nevertheless, Korsakov developed an appreciation of Western musical techniques after he became a professor of musical composition, harmony, and orchestration at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory in 1871. Moreover, he undertook a rigorous three-year program of self-education. He mastered Western methods, incorporating them with the influences of Mikhail Glinka and other members of The Five. His techniques of composition and orchestration were additionally enriched by his exposure to the works of Richard Wagner. Naval Service Korsakov combined his music career accordingly with a career in the Russian military. He was in the first place an officer in the Russian Navy. In due time, he was appointed a civilian Inspector of Naval Bands. As a result, Korsakov expanded his knowledge of woodwind and brass playing, which heightened his orchestration capabilities. Legacy In due time, Korsakov contributed a significant number of Russian nationalist works. He also prepared, occasionally, compositions by The Five for presentation. This brought their works straightaway into the active classical repertoire as well. He also shaped an entire generation of younger composers as a music educator. Therefore, music historians consider Korsakov the foremost engineer of what the public considers the Russian composition style. He served as a transitional figure between The Five and the classically trained composers who became the norm over time. In addition to the Russians, he influenced non-Russian composers such as Ravel, Debussy, Dukas, and Respighi. Â
