Solo Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.775495 Composed by melody H. S. Thompson. Arranged by John Pinno. Concert,Graduation,Holiday. Individual part. 1 pages. John Pinno #6254091. Published by John Pinno (A0.775495). An arrangement for solo classical guitar of the alma mater song for Cornell University, which was also the alma mater song for my high school of Marlin, Texas in 1964. Cornell calls it Far Above Cayuga's Waters, not sure what it was called in Marlin. The actual melody was for a song, Annie Lisle, composed in 1857 by H. S. Thompson.

Solo Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.899109 Composed by Richard Strauss…
(+)
Solo Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.899109 Composed by Richard Strauss. Arranged by Rod Whittle. 20th Century. Individual part. 2 pages. Maggie Creek Music #25787. Published by Maggie Creek Music (A0.899109). 2 pages; for solo classical guitar; published by Maggie Creek MusicRichard Strauss (1864 -1949) Strauss's music amounts to a huge body of symphonic and operatic work written over 60 years. Full of vitality, endlessly melodic, brilliantly orchestrated, it begins and ends in the romantic tradition, but for the most part expresses something more modern and individualistic, not without controversy in its time. Variation of style and structure is drawn from the descriptive (literary) nature of compositions, and an extraordinary inventiveness enlivens the scenes, moods and situations. Strauss said once that he produced music the way cows give milk, and indeed his music rarely seems contrived. The opera Strauss wrote 15 operas on a variety of subjects and across the whole spectrum of drama. He acknowledged being enchanted by the soprano voice, and his writing for it highlights many of the works, including Adriane auf Naxos (composed in 1912). The opera has been described as 'sparkling', which sums it up well, and passages influenced by Bach, Mozart, Puccini, and Wagner add to the interest. The storyline is a play within a play, the second part being the mythological 'Opera' staged in the story. The three pieces transcribed* are from this Opera. The guitar arrangements All classical guitar pieces are compromises. The instrument has only six strings, the left hand four fingers able to be used, and with the right hand its rare to use more than three fingers and the thumb. So, despite the amount of noise possible, it's inevitable that passages occur where either harmony, bass or fragments of counterpoint that would be beneficial are left out. In particular, the higher up the neck music is played the simpler it tends to be, if harder to play, and unless the low bass is an open string there wont be any. So I think the main part of attaining a fair transcription (better to be called an arrangement if the original musical structure is not strictly followed, as in this case) is determining how a good compromise can be reached. Melody, counterpoint, bass and main harmonies demand inclusion, and register is important. One may generally assume the original score can't be improved on. However, if the music may sound well on guitar, and the above elements can be incorporated without the playing becoming very difficult, something enjoyable to play and worthwhile listening to should be able to be achieved. Overture; 'A golden time …' Here the Mozart influence, better, inspiration, is wonderfully evident. A gentle waltz time (only the first section of the overture is transcribed) carries the colourful harmonies, strong melodic threads and connecting flourishes that stamp both pieces. The aria is alluded to in the Overture several times, which as you would expect, is intricately woven with the hints themes later to be established in the Opera. It has a kind of 'jazzy' freedom, and it's always miraculous to me that composition so involved can retain its musical line, here done in Strauss's inimitable way. The aria, sung not far into the Opera, has the perfect inevitability of Mozart, but again it is Strauss. As explained, keys have been changed to suit the guitar. Chorus and Aria This selection from the finale has features well worth trying to translate. The device of having a strong chorus, in the style of a Bach chorale, stated and then counterpointed by a solo voice in a restatement, is potent, and that in the opera the chorus (of the three nymphs) isn't immediately followed by the accompanying aria (of Ariadne) means the latter comes as a moment of surprising beauty. Neither parts are complicated, and lovely arpeggios, a feature Strauss's music, often impart the assured progressions. A problem was to capture the distinct register o.

Solo Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.899111 Composed by Richard Strauss. Arranged by Rod Whittle. 20th Century. Individual part. 2 pages. Maggie Creek Music #25793. Published by Maggie Creek Music (A0.899111). Overture; 'A golden time …'Here the Mozart influence, better, inspiration, is wonderfully evident. A problem was to capture the distinct register of the sopr.

Composed by Mark Small. For Guitar (Classical). Classic. Beginning. E-book. 32 pages. Published by Mel Bay Publications - Digital Sheet Music
ISBN 9781609742041. This volume contains sixteen pieces for the beginning classical guitar duo. Efforts have been made to include composers of note from various periods such as Tchaikovsky, Dowland, Beethoven, Bartok, and Bach, yet the music is not above the abilities of beginning readers. By and large, the key signatures have only one sharp or flat and the accidentals are minimal. The music falls within first position and difficult bar chords have been avoided. The book will provide beginning duos access to music by great composers that is not beyond their capabilities. Written in standard notation only with suggested left hand fingering. This book contains the score and parts for guitars I and II.

Solo Guitar - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1350480 Composed by Val Burton and Will Jason. Arranged by Christopher J. Malin. 20th Century,Contemporary,Jazz,Standards. Individual part. 2 pages. Christopher J. Malin #935289. Published by Christopher J. Malin (A0.1350480). Solo jazz guitar chord/melody arrangement with tablature. Seldom heard standard in this style. Beautiful melody. I think this one will make you a cut above the rest! A challenging but fullfilling piece of jazz music. This piece makes you stand out as a solo jazz guitarist of all idioms. This is for the chord expert. There are 44 different chords in this piece! Some chords are played as triads or dyads or eliminated, and single notes are used. I draw a line over the note if it's the high note of a chord or I use a dot if it's played as a single note, the chord is then in parentheses. I tend to use a minimalist style that keeps the important parts of the music. Sounds great on acoustic and electric guitars. This was on of Nat King Cole's signature pieces.I love this tune! Hope you will too.

Solo Guitar - Digital Download SKU: A0.484627 By Rob Reeves. By Rob Reeves. Arranged by Rob Reeves. 20th Century,Contemporary,Instructional. Individual part. 1 pages. Published by Rob Reeves (A0.484627). Solo piece for plectrum style guitar. I seek to evoke a strange combination of ennui and mild rapture resulting from the enforced idleness of a damp afternoon contemplating the beauty of drizzle and grey skies. The composition is built around the major scale harmonised in sixths, or inverted thirds, played vertically along the neck on the first and third strings. After repetition of A and B phrases, the same melody is largely repeated a fourth higher, in the key of D, with the final section replaced by desending sixths to the dominant chord, E, before repeating the melody again. In the second repeat of the melody, the descending sixths are replaced by ascending sixths finishing on the root an octave above. A middle eight follows of desending chords, starting on the fourth, which becomes minor, and moving through various shapes to a dominant chord, E. The first theme is repeated again, and concludes with descending sixths over an E pedal tone, before resolving to A major to end.

Llamas Negras Siguiriyas
Guitar

Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Richard Hirsch. Folk, Multicultural, Traditional, World. Individual part. 7 pages. Richard Hirsch #309165. Published by Richard Hirsch
An arrangement of traditional themes for the Flamenco style Siguiriyas for solo Flamenco guitar based on material I gathered in my studies in Flamenco guitar in Madrid in the late 1960s. I call the piece Llamas Negras (Black Flames) as the dance for Siguiriyas is often performed by a woman dancer (bailaora) dressed in a long flowing black dress, her hands twirling above her head likes flames. Such were the performances I witnessed at the Flamenco tablao La Zambra where my guitar maestro Juan González “Triguito” played. Siguiriyas is the most tragic of all the serious (jondo) styles of Flamenco for guitar. The piece moves therefore at a moderately slow pace, although there are passages where the tempo increases for dramatic effect. The piece is in the Phrygian modal of D minor and notated in standard 6/8 time. Siguiriyas embodies par excellence what Manuel de Falla called the “sonidos negros” or black sounds in Flamenco!
