Concert Band - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1025077 Composed by Aric Noble. Contemporary,Folk. Score and parts. 10 pages. Aric Noble #5306619. Published by Aric Noble (A0.1025077). Over the past few years I have become obsessed with Norse Mythology, and I mean real Norse Mythology. I say that withquotes because in my research I realized that a lot of people tell different stories. This is mainly because back when Christianity was growing, the Christians saw anything that wasn't Christian as pagan, so they got rid of it all. So that is why Greek, Roman, and Norse religions faded into mythologies, and all that was left was passed around in folk tales. And also because Marvel tells a very different tale of the mythology than the research I have collected and I want people to know these stories. Now moving passed the history lesson and into the music. This is interesting for me because this is the biggest original piece that I've ever made. This is going to be a multimovement piece, and this is the 1st movement, Ginnungagap, the endless void. This movement describes The Void, and the two lands of Fire(Muspelheim) and Ice(Niflhiem).Starting with The Void, it describes the blackness, and I use the absence of instruments to give this feeling, but however to give2 of the other themes to foreshadow it. It moves into this wild cascading theme for the Niflheim theme to describe the cold cascading environment of the world. After that it slows into a dark and ominous theme for Muspelheim(Surtr's Destiny). This was an interesting part to make because in mythology, Surtr, also referred to as Surt, is the fabled fire giant who destroys Asgard. No one knows where hecomes from, but from the moment of his creation, he knew of his destiny to destroy Asgard so he spent all of his time forging his sword to burrow into Asgard. I used a break drum to symbolize a hammer hitting an anvil to forge a sword, a lingering sound of Surtr's destiny. After this, I brought both themes together to resemble The Clash of the two worlds to create the Norse universe. The final theme in this first movement is entitled I am Ymir. In myhtology, Ymir is the father of everything. Created from the clash, he gave creation to all the gods, humans, giants, elves, and dwarves. This final theme takes Surtr's theme and flipsit to be mo.

Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1153691 By Scott Custer Jr. By Scott Custer Jr. Contemporary. Score and parts. 101 pages. Scott Custer Jr #753948. Published by Scott Custer Jr (A0.1153691). My first complete concert band piece. It's been in the works for about 3 months. The early drafts of this piece were written in April/May and were then left to collect dust for months. I wrote it to experiment with melodic/harmonic minor scales and did not intend to finish the piece. Around the same time I wrote the early drafts of the piece, my high school band director asked if I wanted to write a piece for the concert band. I agreed and spent months working on different pieces of music, completing none of them. Around late October I stumbled across this looking through old pieces of music for some new ideas. I listened through it 3 or 4 times and decided to continue the piece. After spending roughly two months finishing the draft, and another month revising and adding parts, I had finally finished Trapped. When I started working on this piece with the intention of finishing it, I was at a difficult point in my life. I had recently come home from my rookie season of drum corps and was still transitioning back to the real world. The freedom of tour had been taken away from me, I had mentally matured a lot during the summer. While only 17 I felt like I was stuck with a bunch of kids. I had spent all summer with friends much older than me, learning a lot from them and taking inspiration from them in many ways. When I started this piece, I was conflicted with many thoughts and emotions. I was still under the impression that my peers in the music program hated me because of some of my actions last year. The girl from home I had been talking with all summer while I was gone, and hoped to start a relationship with, lied to me while I was gone about many things, causing me to remove them from my life. The last year and a half have involved many events like losing my best friend of 5 years because of, what I consider, an overreaction on my part; being used for my kindness; lied to; having secrets about me revealed behind my back by those I trusted; being a therapy friend; constant overthinking; as well as toxic friendships I didn’t want to leave because I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I felt trapped. I had spent so long trying to improve myself to become who I am today, and I still felt like crap. Even though I knew and promised myself I wouldn’t follow through, I was battling suicidal thoughts and I was in a severely depressive episode of my life. I wrote this piece to express the feeling of overthinking, being trapped in your mind, and the road to recovery. The constant back-and-forth battles with yourself, unsure of where to go and what to do next; feeling trapped. I hope that this piece connects and resonates with those of you in a similar position to what I was in, and I promise there is a way out and that life does get better. And with that, I present to you, Trapped.

Published by Brady Kuhl (A0.1146898). This is a composition that might be a mix between a new Christmas song and remix or the others Christmas classics. The reason why I created a composition because other Christmas songs because I remember rehearing many different Christmas songs and never knew what to pick or create so I remixed that and made a story on Christmas in the attic. Based off of the composer's imagination and drama added to the music with a mixed of fun sound effects. This might not just be the Christmas song, but another story made up in a song form. Use your imagination as you are listening, and thank you for being my audences.

Concert band - Digital Download SKU: IZ.CBS158-S Composed by Britt Burns. Score. 16 pages. Duration 7 minutes, 35 seconds. Imagine Music - Digital #CBS158-S. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.CBS158-S). 9 x 12 in inches.Distance was composed in early 2009 (and later revised in 2011) when I was feeling very homesick. The title wasinspired by the big change that comes when one relocates 1,000 miles away from familiar territory to begin a new life.Although this kind of event is very exciting, it also can create pain from the absence of friends and family. The music isintended to sound bittersweet in nature because it's meant to reflect both of these things.I don't usually try to write in a specific form, as I feel that can hurt the natural flow of how the music wants to develop. However, this piece is indeed in anABAform. Almost all of the thematic material in the piece is written in a major key,but with the goal of sounding a little sad. While writing this, I was heavily influenced by the music of Ennio Morriconeand Dan Forrest. There is a short motive used in the B section of the piece that is similar to a motive used in variousfilm themes. Since I associate this motive with Morricone, and because he is one of my all time favorite composers, Idecided to dedicate this piece to him.

Concert Band - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.496549 Composed by John R. Daniels. Folk,Traditional. Score and parts. 43 pages. John R. Daniels #110708. Published by John R. Daniels (A0.496549). A delightful little waltz that sounds a bit off kilter because it has seven-measure phrases. To balance that, there are also two countermelodies presented, with the final A section featuring the main melody and both countermelodies in a grand calliope sound. The Cantummit Waltz is called that because I found it hard to hum a few bars when asked to do so by some people who were helping me name it. So they suggested that I call it the I Can't Hum It Waltz. Can't Hum It became Cantummit. IF YOU WOULD LIKE YOUR ENSEMBLE TO GAIN MORE MEDIA EXPOSURE, please record your performance of this piece and email it to CustomMusic@Salt-Cellar-Creations.com. I've Always had a soft spot for slow pieces. A brighter version of one of my other pieces The Corruption, This shows a brighter side of life and the fondness of life or the things we used to know. I'm tired of hearing people say slow pieces are easy because there slow or there boring because they don't have fast notes. With this piece I hope to change people opinion on slower pieces. What We Used To Know was inspired for my reason I love slow pieces and I hope everyone finds a reason to adore them like I have.

Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549206 Composed by Gabrieli. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Renaissance,Standards. Score and Parts. 29 pages. Jmsgu3 #3461981. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549206). Duration 3:00. Score 9 pg. Parts 2 pg. ea. Instrumentation: small wind band, no percussion. Innovations First of all, Gabrieli preferred sacred vocal and certainly instrumental music. Hence, he concentrated on music that consequently took advantage of resonance and likewise reverberation for maximum effect. Seems like Gabrieli may have invented dynamics – or was rather the first to indicate them such as in his Sonata Pian’ e Forte. Consequently, he was also a pioneer in spatial techniques. He therefore developed and used very specific notation to indicate instrumentation. Gabrieli experimented with assembling massive instrumental forces into isolated groups separated by space. In this way, he consequently contributed heavily to the Baroque Concertato style. Polychoral Works Gabrieli probably used the layout of the San Marco church for his experiments. This is because he worked there as a musician and composer. Furthermore, the church had two choir lofts facing each other. He certainly used these to create striking spatial effects between instrumental forces. Certainly, many of his works are composed such that a choir or instrumental group could first be heard on one side, then consequently followed by a response from the group on the other side. Sometimes there was probably a third group positioned near the main altar as well. Spatial Music Above all, Gabrieli studied carefully detailed groups of instruments and singers. Furthermore, it seems like he created precise directions for instrumentation in rather more than two groups. The instruments, because they could be appropriately situated, could consequently be heard with perfect clearness at distant locations. As a result, arrangements which seem bizarre on paper, can in contrast sound perfectly in-balance. First Works Finally, Gabrieli published his first motets along with his uncle Andrea's compositions in Concerti (1587). These compositions furthermore indicate considerable usage of dialogue and echo effects. Consequently, here we see low and high choirs with the variance between their ranges indicated by instrumental accompaniment. Seems like Gabrieli’s later motets Sacrae Symphoniae (1597) move away from close antiphony. In contrast, he moves towards not simply echoing the material, but developing it by sequential choral entrances. Even more, he takes this procedure to the extreme in the Motet Omnes Gentes. Unlike earlier works, here the instruments are certainly an essential part of the presentation. Also, only parts marked: Capella are supposed to be sung. Homophony Hence, after 1605, Gabrieli moves to a much more homophonic style. He writes sections purely for instruments – which calls Sinfonia – and smaller sections for vocal soloists, accompanied by a basso continuo.

Concert Band - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549200 Composed by Giovanni Gabrieli. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Easter,Renaissance,Standards. 27 pages. Jmsgu3 #3458689. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549200). Giovanni Gabrieli: Jubilate Deo (Ch. 136). Instrumentation: small concert band, no percussion. Here is a stunningly beautiful example of Renaissance polyphony and a mesmerizing fast-paced recital number. Program this initially to set an exciting mood or as an encore to leave the listeners in a jubilant afterglow. The parts are not tricky, but plan to rehearse the many subtleties of dynamic contrast between the various sub-groups and the overall articulations. Innovations First of all, Gabrieli preferred sacred vocal and, indeed, instrumental music. Hence, he concentrated on music that consequently took advantage of resonance and reverberation for maximum effect. Gabrieli may have invented dynamics – or was the first to indicate them, such as in his Sonata Pian’ e Forte. Consequently, he was also a pioneer in spatial techniques. Concert band - Digital Download SKU: IZ.CBS158 Composed by Britt Burns. Score and Parts. 90 pages. Duration 7 minutes, 35 seconds. Imagine Music - Digital #CBS158. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.CBS158).

Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1444294 Composed by Augusta Holmes. Arranged by John Ivor Holland. 19th Century,Chamber,Classical. 40 pages. John Ivor Holland #1024207. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1444294). Augusta Mary Anne Holmès (16 December 1847 – 28 January 1903) was a French composer of Irish descent. In 1871, Holmès became a French national and added the accent to her last name. She wrote the texts to almost all of her vocal music herself, including songs, oratorios, the libretto of her opera ('La Montagne noire') and the programmatic poems for her symphonic poems including 'Irlande' and 'Andromède'. Despite showing talent at the piano, she was not allowed to study at the Paris Conservatoire, but took lessons privately. Like other female composers from the nineteenth century including Fanny Mendelssohn and Clara Schumann, Holmès published some of her earlier works under a male pseudonym (Hermann Zenta) because women in European society at that time were not taken seriously as artists and were discouraged from publishing. 'Clair de Lune' is the second of the 'Trois Petites Pièces' for flute and piano, composed in 1896, bring together the homelands dear to Holmès’ heart: Ireland, her country of origin, and France, her country of adoption. Arranged for concert band as part of an ongoing project to bring more music by women composers into the worldwide repertoire.

Concert Band - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1418976 By Andy Williams. By Sid Ramin and Tony Velona. Arranged by John Ivor Holland. 20th Century,Film/TV,Pop. 43 pages. John Ivor Holland #1000425. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1418976). Turn heads with this classic 60's song, originally a Tijuana-style instrumental, but made more famous in a lyric version from 1967 by singer Andy Williams. It's been featured in car and phone adverts and because of the pounding drums and bass, it's a great chart for grabbing attention, as well as being nostalgic for your older band and audience members. Perfect for a summer's day or anywhere your band is on show.
