Published by William Ortiz (A0.1008988). A work for Symphony Orchestra which consists of three movements: ArmonÃa Bilingüe, Marcha and Beat Box. This is a work were rhythm takes over to articulate a contemporary and empirical sound world. It is born of my admiration of popular culture and presents no pretensions. The title signifies a suspension, an absence or a liberation from the prejudice of dogmatic elitist musical thinking and styles that have stigmatized symphonic music. The first movement generates the source material of which the whole work is based. Rhythm , the principal element of the piece, is used as a continuo, serving to connect all three movements. It is especially highlighted in the second movement which is a kind of instrumental rap. The final movement Beat Box alludes to the large portable radios, aka ghetto blasters, popular at one time in urban neighborhoods. Thus I conceive the orchestra here as a large radio were music changes from one station to another transmitting and transforming wireless sound vibrations into different moods and grooves.

Published by Head and Stem (A0.1090419). A Well-Traveled Road was first sketched in the summer of 1989. It was revised and orchestrated in 1992 for a recording on MMC (now defunct) by the Slovak Radio and Television Orchestra under the direction of Robert Stankovsky. This video represents a revised version from the original 1992 score and 1995 recording. NOTES from 1995: I have always been intrigued with the transformational potentiality of themes. A Well-Traveled Road explores the diverse possibilities of the development of a single motive. I have incorporated certain principles of sonata form, although this music is more episodic in nature than three-part. It is foremost mono-thematic (the theme is first announced in the horns and trumpets). The idea then undergoes several permutations in the form of episodes, including a fleeting waltz, a form of which I am quite fond. The title of the piece itself is a metaphorical allusion to this process. The harmonic language in the work is predominantly tonal. By contemporary music standards, about one-half consonant and one-half dissonant. I do not prescribe to any type of harmonic system or any other such rationale in this work (or seldom in any of my recent work). I prefer using a more intuitive approach to harmony, reserving dissonance for spice and for enhancing the dramatic element of the music. Set in the standard fast / slow / fast arrangement of movements in the traditional concerto format. The approximate performance length is 15 minutes and 44 seconds. I wrote the piece in ternary form to tell a sort of story, one of tears, struggle, and sorrow. However, at the end, struggle falls away as hope breaks through, imagined in the piece through the final climax.It was premired by the UMSL Symphony Orchestra in the fall of 2018.

His fresh, orchestral perspective gleaned from the massive symphonic work guided his hand in composing Images, and this piano work showcases his creative and unique com-positional style. Each individual movement uses subtlety in melody, harmony, and rhythm to create an expressive sound world.Images Book 1 consists of three movements: Reflets dans l’eau, Hommage à Rameau, and Mouvement. As it known, Images Book 1, was originally composed for the piano and never got orchestrated by the composer. This gave me an idea to do the transcription for the orchestra to make the full version of this spectacular piece, along with Book II and Book III, complete.
