We Will Rock You is a song written by Brian May and recorded by British rock band Queen for their 1977 album News of the World. Rolling Stone ranked it number 330 of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time in 2004, and it placed at number 146 on the Songs of the Century list in 2001. In 2009, We Will Rock You was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.Other than the last 30 seconds, which contains a guitar solo by May, the song is generally set in a cappella form, using only stomping and clapping as a rhythmic body percussion beat. This anthem should not be confused with the National Anthem of the People’s Republic of China, known as March of the Volunteers which is the anthem of mainland China including its special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau. The Taiwanese anthem is currently banned from performance on mainland China and strongly discouraged from being performed in Hong Kong and Macau. Ironically, the national anthem of ROC Taiwan was first used as the anthem for the whole of China when the country was controlled by the Kuomintang. However, in 1949 the Kuomintang government was ousted and relocated to the island of Taiwan to continue government using the same symbols of state that they employed in mainland China. The anthem is informally known as San Min Chu I or San Min Zhu Yi (“Three Principles of the Peopleâ€). As well as the full score (19 staves), the publication includes separate parts for flutes (unison), piccolo, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets in B flat, 2 bassoons, 4 horns in F, 3 trumpets in B flat, 3 trombones, tuba, violin 1, violin 2, violin 3 (same as viola part), viola, cello, double bass, timpani and percussion (3 players). ATON is a stage play written by Manfred Strolz and Otmar Rützler which represents Egypt in the time of the Pharoahs but seen through the eyes of modern theatre directors and actors. The modern scenes are spoken but the Egyptian scenes require music, so Manfred and Otmar asked me to write the music for these. The music is composed for various forces as the play progresses, from the full orchestra (woodwind, strings, harp, piano, timpani) and choir down to more intimate moments with single voice or duets, flute and classical guitar or with single voice and bassoon. For each section the pdf file contains score and parts and the sound sample is an electronic preview. As I write 16 sections have been composed, but more are to come - please just search for Aton in due course for the full picture. The first performance is planned to take place in the Landestheater in Innsbruck during 2015 ================= ATON ist ein Bühnenstück von Manfred Strolz and Otmar Rützler geschrieben, das Ägypten von der Pharaonenzeit vorstellt aber auch duch die Augen moderner Direktoren und Schauspieler sieht. Die modernen Szenen sind gesprochen aber die ägyptischen Szenen brauchen Musik, deshalb haben mich Manfred und Otmar gebeten die Musik dafür zu schreiben. Die Musik ist für verschiedene Kräfte während des Stückes komponiert: vom vollen Orchester (Holzbläser, Streicher, Harfe, Klavier, Timpani) und Chor bis zu intimeren Augenblicken mit Solostimme (oder Duetten) mit Flöte und klassicher Gitarre oder Solostimme mit Fagott. Im Augenblick gibt es 16 Kompositionen, aber es wird noch mehr geben - bitte suche später nach Aton für das vollständige Bild. Für jede Komposition enhält die pdf-Datei Partitur und Stimmen und die mp3-Datei ist eine elektronische Vorschau. Es wird geplant, die erste Aufführung im Landestheater Innsbruck im Jahre 2015 stattzuhalten.

Ode an die Freude An 8 minutes version of the famous hymn for orchestra and/or choir with an recognizable introduction. You will need this arrangement if you want the Ode an die Freude to begin with a worthy introductionGreatly reduced version of the 3rd and 4th movements of the 9th symphony. The hymn Ode an die Freude can also be performed as a single movement. Heavy brass has been added as an ad libitum instrumentation, to allow the hymn to be performed with full orchestra on occasion.The 4-part chorus can be sung even by a non-professional choir, and even by the audience, because of a convenient tessitura in A major in the hymn. The reduction of elements used from the 3rd movement leads - as an introduction - to the first passage of the hymn, and with material from the 4th movement it leads to the closing hymn. The hymn shows the lyrics for 3 verses.It has been orchestrated and arranged with full respect for Beethoven's intentions, but with an open mind to the needs of contemporary events and the needs of concert organizations and audiences. For the convenience of these events, heavy brass has been included for modern orchestras - even tuba which essentially doubles the original contrafagotto.This arrangement can be performed with, or without, a choir. The song was released in March 1983 as a single, which hit number one for two weeks. This version has been created for Full Orchestra (with optional TTB choral parts). The piece should be easily playable by Intermediate level Full Orchestra. There are optional parts for English Horn, Clarinet 3, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone & Contra Bassoon. The piano part is important for the core rhythms section, as is the guitar. The Violin 1 parts does go into third position towards the end, but all other string parts stay in first position. The song itself is a first-person account of a typical Australian soldier's experience in the Vietnam War, from training at a military academy in Australia to first hand exposure to military operations and combat, and ultimately his return home disillusioned and suffering from both PTSD and, it is implied, the harmful effects of Agent Orange. This piece would work well at any ANZAC Day or Memorial Day event for the Armed services.
