Papens“Sweetdreams” is one of those signature synth-pop songs of the eighties.
AnnieLennox and Dave Stewart wrote the song after the Tourists had broken up andthey formed Eurythmics. At that moment they were disillusioned and broke andthe song’s lyrics reflects that unhappy time. Although produced with limitedresources, it’s one of the most striking and recognisable songs of the eighty’sera.
The duelling synthesizers are mimicked by accordion voice 3 and 4 and of course the keyboard. The drumpart is very basic and clean, like the original. To add some contrast, bas anda tambourine back beat kick-in during the melodic passages between the verses. Accordion basses in voice 4are optional but darken the sound nicely, especially when sustained in some passages.
Have funwith this Eighties classic!
