With concerts, recitals and wedding performances in mind, this arrangement will be popular with players and audiences alike. The Prelude has an irrevocable sense of momentum, only sated with a short cadenza like flourish and a final bout of arpeggios. The Fugue allows all four voices to develop and flourish after the forced regimentation of the Prelude. The difficulty level for the Prelude is about ABRSM grade 5-6, and the Fugue about grade 5-8 with the outside parts taking the more technical moments, although optional alternatives are scored where range appropriate to lower difficulty if desired. The PDF is 33 pages in length (portrait A4) and includes a full score and parts for flexible brass quartet (2 Cornets/Trumpets, Tenor Horn/F Horn/Baritone/Trombone and Euphonium/BassTrombone). Bb treble and bass clef parts included as appropriate. The combined duration of the Prelude & Fugue is about 3 minutes 20 seconds.

First released in 1994, and featured in the film Batman Forever, this song was a no.1 hit in the US and Australia.This arrangement features the trombone as the main soloist, with some wonderful moments for showcasing the rich, vocalistic tone of the instrument. The French horn also has some 'pearly' moments, starting with the opening introduction soaring high in the register. The trumpets also enjoy the melody during the chorus which features them playing together in octaves. Some moments in the trombone and horn part may be a little high for some players, but these will work just as well taken down an octave where necessary.This is a terrific song, with rich harmonies and lots of melodic interest. Please get in touch if you wish to be part fo a collaborative project perhaps as a school, college, university or other group.The Struggle of the night - 4:09 in length:The first movement commences with sonorous chord sequences and quickly moves to a lively section. The piece incorporates the tune of the Welsh National Anthem along with the hymn tune Cwm Rhondda. The movement moves between the despair and loneliness of the night that one can feel, even when sleeping next to a close partner, and the racing desperation of the mind, whereby patriotic affiliations will calm the soul at these times. the movement finishes with the tune of Land of my father's resonating but even this is of no comfort, and the troubled mind lies awake and the movement finishes with a flurry of discord.The Solitude - 5.34 in length:The movement begins with a haunting melody led by the Oboe. the Horn soon joins in as do other instruments of the quintet. A simple Gregorian type rhythm and chant passes through the quintet with the Oboe leading the movement.Crescendos and attacked notes give the piece a rise and fall showing the mood of the soul that alternates between a calm and a peak of mood as sleep is hard to come by and a restless state is invoked.It appears that the oboe will be leading the soul into peace yet, at the last moment, the quintet joins in with chords of attack and crescendo followed by a sharp diminuendo to end the piece.The soul has sought solace, yet, all they find is loneliness.Brad's Broadcast - 3:01 in length:The restless soul awakes after a restless night. The world is full of voices, advice, motivation and answers.In this lively movement, the soul searches for solace and finds sense from some sources, yet, the cacophony of contrary advice and the nature of some disciples of business and life coaches becomes confusing. there are some real gems of advice available, but, the noise of others drowns out the sense and sanity.The soul manages to find some humour in the forums and media, they smile, but the relief is short lived.The movement ends with all voices descending away in a glissando and silence is restored.By His Own Hand - 4:26 in length:This movement reflects the desperation of the soul. they have sought solace, humour has passed them by, they do not feel that they can continue to live.The piece starts with a cadenza played by a viola. A violin soon duets in this Jewish styled lament.Throughout the movement the brass are spartan, reflecting the confusion of the soul. The ability to cling onto the world and to continue living is a losing battle.The waves of the lament increase in their presence, but not velocity, for the depressed souul is reaching the point of no return and of no choice.They will soon depart from the world by their own hand. The end ofthe movement is a descent and a unifying discordant sound as the soul leaves.Dreaming of Heaven - 2:31 in length:The soul is now rising and an ancient Celtic tune accompanies the soul in the form of a Soprano voice singing words of hope and light.The soul's path is lit and the ancient bell of.

Sweetwater Brass Press #3689775. Published by Sweetwater Brass Press (A0.808686). This is one of the most beautifully arranged short pieces in the Sweetwater Brass Press catalog. Jean-Paul-Égide Martini wrote Plaisir d'amour in 1784. He took the words from a poem that appears in Célestine, a short novel by Jean-Pierre Claris de Florian. The poem begins, Plaisir d'amour ne dure qu'un moment (The pleasure of love lasts only a moment). Over the years, Martini’s melody has proved popular with other composers, including Hector Berlioz and Louis van Waefelghem. Two relatively recent songs that made use of the plaintiff refrain are the Christian hymn, My God Loves Me and the song Can't Help Falling in Love, which was performed by Elvis Presley in the film, Blue Hawaii. This arrangement is not technically difficult, but it does require discipline and interpretation. As in the original, there are two key changes, F to A-flat and then back to F. The time signature has been changed from Martini’s 6/8 to ¾ but retains all relative note values. Trumpet 1 plays the melody with occasional harmony from Trumpet 2. Horn in F provides arpeggio accompaniment throughout most of the song, with some help from Tuba and Trombone. With respect to high and low notes: Trumpet 1 has one A5 grace note (to a G5 quarter note); Trumpet 2 has three above-staff quarter notes in a row, A5, B5 and A5; Trombone has one F4; and Tuba has a number of F1 notes and one section of octave jumps involving F2 to F3 and A2 to A3. This arrangement was completed in 2018, and performance time runs about 3 minutes, 51 seconds. There was speculation about the meaning of the title, including one hypothesis that led the song to be banned in Singapore for over 20 years for alleged allusions to drugs, but according to the composer the song is about writing music in the early morning, and the title is nothing more salacious than 3:35am (25 to 4) or 3:34am (26 to 4).In any case, this song remains a classic of the rock genre 40 years after its publication, and is arranged here for 10 Bb trumpets. Most of the higher and more difficult licks are concentrated in the top 4 parts, and the 1st part requires particular skill (leading me to mark this arrangement's difficulty as advanced intermediate), but each trumpeter involved will have have at least one moment of guitar-solo glory. Perfect for a large trumpet ensemble with diverse skill levels.

Published by David Healy-Richards (A0.1015626). Moon Chasers is my third musical work and is dedicated to my Girlfriend who I met in the International Brass Band Summer School in Swansea in 2016. This piece of music is aimed at capturing the feeling of a young couple savouring the moment as they experience it. Not worrying about the future or the past just the here and now. I tried to capture this feeling with suspensions and utilising the different sections of the band. The intro represents the end of a manic day, driving home until A. Where the duet kicks in A melody and a counter-melody representing two young lovers. It starts as a minimalist quartet before the scoring becomes a lot thicker allowing more colours to come out. We hear echoes of the next section which starts at (D) with a rhythm that feels like its slightly behind the beat. It's a simple harmonic line but as it feels behind the beat this achieves a kind of euphoric feel to the music. This is then decorated by the twinkling stars that we here popping up every now and again which are represented by the Glockenspiel.

It was originally written for Sæbø Skulemusikklag, Norway, for World Brass Day 2017. The performance was recorded as representation of Norwegian culture and uploaded to Youtube in a shared playlist alongside others from around the globe*. The arrangement begins in a similar creepy manner to the original, tip-toeing in and gradually building up to a frightening frenzy. Something of a surprise is in store for the audience after a familiar opening however; a dubstep/drum n bass twist drops in before the melody rejoins in a new fashion, leading on to solo moments for drum kit and timpani. Elements of the original orchestration are again infused into the repeated refrain to intensify the music towards a dramatic final close.Note to conductors:Difficult solo tuba parts are a feature, but a simplified version is also supplied for less advanced players.The soprano cornet, 2nd horn and 2nd baritone parts are supplementary and can be omitted without problem. Beginner level (aspirant) parts are provided, written in B and E flat as 'Trolls' so that newer band members can join in. *this arrangement has been edited since that performance for publication.
