I first knew this song in its 1980s cover by Phil Collins, and when I later heard The Supremes' original it was striking how true to it Collins' version had been. This arrangement thus takes both versions as reference points, whilst shortening the song slightly and reharmonising in places to bring it into the world of contest barbershop.

Inspired by the 1,116 orphaned Polish children who, as Holocaust survivors, were brought to Canada after World War II and became known as The Redeemed Children. These tunes, and others like them, were the only possessions they had and their only direct connection to the past. I received a copy of a book of tunes (unarranged) while speaking at a conference; an elderly gentlemen came up to me, pressed them into my hands and asked me to help keep them alive. The work features two tunes, both on the theme of motherhood. The first tune describes a young mother shushing everything around her so that her little son can sleep. The second tune rejoices when the poor are raised up and a barren woman's house is filled with the laughter of children.To honour the integrity of the tunes, this work features idiomatic writing and harmonies and captures not only the rhythm but also the intended mood and sentiment. Brief solo opportunities feature a soprano and alto in a traditional 'cantor' style section. This is a short, two-page arrangement of Meghan Trainor's cheerful and catchy defense of diversity in body-types. It was written to be workshopped, and can be learned and performed in an afternoon, and features vocal ranges accessible to relatively inexperienced singers. It starts off with the tune in unison, then split between upper and lower voices, before blossoming out into harmony, and passing the melody to the lead for the verse.
It is written in A major, as that is the key of the original, but leaves headroom to pitch it up should the voices need it.

Take what you want (as to the story) behind this piece - you cannot deny that the title refers to Maher Baba and Terry O’Riley - a combination of Indian spiritualism and musical minimalism. The main melody is there. The voices bounce around with short vocalises/ostinatos to simulate a synth. The piano also becomes integral to the iconic chord progression.
