Harp - Easy/Beginner - Digital Download Arranged by Ray Pool. Method, Technique Training. 90 pages. Published by Afghan Press Music for the Harp
This is a study of ear training through melodic development. Small melodic fragments from familiar nursery rhymes, folk, patriotic and hymns tunes are used. The numbers 1 through 7 are used instead of using ?Do, Re, Mi?? to identify the notes in the scale. Melodies are categorized by range, beginning with a range of only three notes, progressing through a total of nine categories. Skills in ear training are highly useful to musicians who might be asked to take requests at hotels, parties and restaurants, or those involved in harp therapy. With the melodic fragments that are the focus of study, performance by ear can be highly strengthened and developed. Table of Contents: All Through the Night, Amazing Grace, America, Angels from the Realms of Glory, Angels We Have Heard on High, Au Clare de la Lune, Away in a Manger, Be Thou My Vision, Billy Boy, Cindy, Clementine, Day is Done (Taps), Down in the Valley, Drink to Me Only with Thine Eyes, For He's a Jolly Good Fellow, Frere Jacques, Go Tell Aunt Rhody, Go Tell It On the Mountain, Goin' Home, Good King Wenceslas, He's Got the Whole World in His Hands, Here We Come A'Wassailing, Home on the Range, Home Sweet Home, Hot Cross Buns, I'm a Little Teapot, Jingle Bells, Joy to the World, Kumbayah, Lightly Row, London Bridge, Lonesome Valley, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Michael Row the Boat Ashore, Morning Has Broken, My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean, Ode to Joy, Oh Susanna, Oh How Lovely is the Evening, Old Folks at Home, Old Hundredth, On Top of Old Smokey, Over the River and Through the Woods, Row Row Row Your Boat, Shenandoah, Silent Night, Skip to my Lou, Swing Low Sweet Chariot, The Farmer in the Dell, The First Nowell, The Harp that Once Thro' Tara's Halls, The Star Spangled Banner, This Old Man, Three Blind Mice, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, We Wish You Merry Christmas, When the Saints Go Marching In.

Harp - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.928320 Composed by Rory Dall. Arranged by Karen Peterson. Celtic,Contemporary,Folk. Score. 4 pages. Karen Peterson #5955365. Published by Karen Peterson (A0.928320). This tune was published by Daniel Dow in the 1770s and was probably composed by Roderick Morison (~1656-1713). My double-strung harp arrangement in the dorian mode has rolled, echoed chords, highlighting the depth of sound we can get from having two sets of strings. The accompaniment hand traverses the entire range of the harp, often overlapping the melody hand.Range and key: D dorian (all naturals). 24x2 strings. C below middle C through E.Lever changes: None.Good for: Performance, memorials, therapeutic settings.Double-strung effects: The LH accompaniment frequently overlaps the RH melody range. Rolled accompaniment chords often contain the same note as the melody, creating a rolled echo. Some chords that aren’t rolled have doubled notes in both hands, creating depth. The repetition of LH patterns makes this a great piece to learn overlapping hands with.Characteristics: Neither hand needs to place more than an octave spread. There are some four-note chords (always LH 1-3-5-8). The RH has almost no chords. Few of the chords are inversions. There are very few sixteenth notes; no more than three played together with one hand. The LH has two long-run patterns (1-5-8-9-10 and 1-5-8-9) which can be played with cross-unders or a wandering thumb. The RH has a few cross-overs/unders.Finger placement: Finger number suggestions are provided for key phrases. Numbers above the notes are suggestions for the RH (marked with R or R# when they occur in the bottom staff). Numbers below the notes are suggestions for the LH (marked with L or L# when they occur in the top staff). To see what I mean, view the PDF of finger placement examples in Rorie Dall's Sister's Lament: www.EnjoyTheHarp.com/s/rorie-dalls-sisters-lament-notes-enjoy-the-harp.pdfNotation: Chord symbols are provided. Treble clef is used for both staves, with 8vb for the low notes. Length: 4 pages. 60 measures, plus 12 if you take the repeat. 4 minutes.Page turns: If you are printing, double-side pages 2 and 3 so that there is only one page turn. The RH can be used on all notes of page 2’s last measure, so that the LH can turn the page. If you are using single pages on a tablet, you can do something similar at the end of page 3. Page 1’s turn is manageable. Harp - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.928332 By Patsy Cline. By Willie Nelson. Arranged by Karen Peterson. Country. Score. 3 pages. Karen Peterson #5993773. Published by Karen Peterson (A0.928332). WATCH THE Bb VERSION: You are viewing the arrangement for lap harp, which is in the key of F. To hear the Bb version played on a larger harp, go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8WfrwixqGkOverview: This Countrypolitan song made famous by Patsy Cline was written by a not-yet-famous Willie Nelson. The attitude of the protagonist has been described as variously bemused, bittersweet, and cathartic. What is it to you, and how can you bring that emotion into your playing? My double-strung arrangement sets accidentals in the LH prior to playing, allowing the song to proceed without lever flips. The optional lever flip at the very end can be easily eliminated, making this song a great opportunity to practice flipping on the right with an easy recovery if you can’t get it in time.Key and range: F major (one flat). 21x2 strings. G below middle C through F. Preset F#, G#, B natural, and C#. (LARGER HARPS: For harps with C below middle C or lower, get the Bb version here: www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/crazy-patsy-cline-for-double-strung-harp-digital-sheet-music/21815694)Lever changes: One optional lever change on the right. Set four accidentals on the left before playing.Good for: Parties, performance.Double-strung effects: Preset accidentals on the left allow for jazzy chords without lever flips. If you’ve been hesitant about moving your LH into the melody area, this is your chance to learn. You can gently move out of your comfort zone by only switching hands for these accidentals, or you can take it a step further with optional echoed notes and an optional RH lever flip.Characteristics: The LH and RH usually play together, but with several held notes and a melody that doesn’t always strike on the downbeat, the hands play separately at least 25% of the time. There are a few instances that call for wider than an octave spread. Most chords are LH 1-5-8, 1-5-7, or 1-3-5-8. The RH has almost no chords. There are very few sixteenth notes. The most complicated placements are in the introduction with one slide and one cross-over.Finger placement: Finger number suggestions are provided for key phrases with bolded L/R for levered accidentals. Numbers above the notes are suggestions for the RH (marked with R or R# when they occur in the bottom staff). Numbers below the notes are suggestions for the LH (marked with L or L# when they occur in the top staff).Notation: Chord symbols are provided; lyrics are included separately. Treble clef used in both staves.Length: 2 pages. 40 measures. 2:30 minutes.Page turns: None if you print.

Harp - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1011694 Composed by Kathryn Cater. Concert,Instructional,Standards. Score. 26 pages. Kathryn Cater #3436601. Published by Kathryn Cater (A0.1011694). For lever or pedal harp. Student pieces from level 1 to level 3.This collection has some very easy pieces. The most difficult, Baron’s Blues, is a jazzy piece that is actually easier on lever harp than on the pedal harp, because all the accidentals use lever pre-sets! This is also true of Walkin’ Wally. Danny Solves the Mystery sounds much more difficult than it is. Hands cross, but do not play at the same time. Lullaby for Smokey gently puts the hands together in easy patterns. Walkin’ Wally is more challenging, but my students enjoyed it so much they practiced! 60’s rock vamp and walking bass makes it fun. Grumpy Dreams of Flying was composed for a student who wanted something mysterious sounding. Dreamy glissandi throughout most of this piece create the effect. Chasing Buddy is fast and cute, just like the Jack Russel Terrier it’s named after. Baron’s Blues is supposed to sound like a whiny puppy who just wants someone to play with him. Not too fast! Forest Friends has a new age feel with the additional benefit of being an etude for interval practice. Buckwheat’s Baby is a study on I, IV and V7 chords.

By Journey. Arranged by Karen Peterson. Sheet Music Single, Solo Part. 6 pages. Published by Karen Peterson
Your audience’s memory of this Eighties rock anthem by Journey will be playing along in their head—from the original album, a live performance, The Sopranos, Glee, karaoke, or all of the above. But they’ve never heard it before on a harp.<br> <br> This arrangement makes good use of the double-strung by using both sides for repeated notes and letting the accompaniment hand overlap the melody. The result is beautiful but still ballsy.<br> <br> Range and key: F major (one flat). 23x2 strings. C below middle C through D.<br> Lever changes: None.<br> <br> Good for: Weddings, parties, performance, therapeutic settings.<br> <br> Double-strung effects: The LH accompaniment frequently overlaps the RH melody range. Finger placements are suggested for playing echoed notes with alternating hands to work around or emphasize ringing strings. Since the alternate-hand echoing is not required, it’s a great piece to learn this technique on.<br> <br> Characteristics: Arpeggios and a syncopated melody. The RH never places more than an octave spread; the LH places 1-9 twice. There are a few four-note chords (LH 1-3-5-8); the rest of the chords are three notes, usually not inversions. The RH has almost no chords. There are two bars of sixteenth notes that can easily be substituted for eighths. The LH has two long-run patterns (1-5-8-9-10 and 1-5-8-9) which can be played with cross-unders or a wandering thumb. The RH has only two cross-overs.<br> <br> Finger placement: Finger number suggestions are provided for key phrases. Numbers above the notes are suggestions for the RH (marked with “R” or “R#” when they occur in the bottom staff). Numbers below the notes are suggestions for the LH (marked with “L” or “L#” when they occur in the top staff). To see what I mean, view the PDF of finger placement examples in “Don’t Stop Believin’: www.EnjoyTheHarp.com/s/dont-stop-believin-notes-enjoy-the-harp.pdf<br> <br> Notation: Chord symbols and lyrics are provided. Treble clef in both staves. To avoid switching between bass clef and treble in the accompaniment, 8vb lines are used for the low Cs, Ds, and Es (which means that you play an octave below what’s written). Low Fs use 8vb sometimes, so if you see a lot of low ledger lines, don’t worry: it’s that F below middle C. Instead of counting the lines, you can look at the chord symbols to confirm.<br> <br> Length: 6 pages. 106 measures. 4:00–5:00 minutes, depending on tempo.<br> <br> Page turns: If you are printing, double-side pages 2-3 and 4-5 to minimize page turns. Line breaks have been made with printed or single-page-tablet turns in mind; you can pick up some accompaniment notes in the RH to turn with the LH.<br> <br> Analysis and performance notes at www.EnjoyTheHarp.com/dont-stop-believin
