It was released as the second single from their fourth studio album, Eyes Open (2006). It was recorded in 2005 and released on 6 June 2006 in the United States and 24 July 2006 in the United Kingdom. The song gained significant popularity in the US after being featured in the second season finale of the popular medical drama Grey's Anatomy, which aired on 15 May 2006. Here We Come A-Wassailing is a traditional English Christmas carol with roots that likely extend back to the mid-19th century, if not earlier. The exact authorship of the carol is unknown. The song is associated with the tradition of wassailing, which involves going door-to-door singing in exchange for food and drink. This practice predates Christianity and was part of mid-winter celebrations. The term wassail originates from the Anglo-Saxon greeting waes hael, meaning be in good health. This greeting evolved into a toast, with one person saying was hail and another responding drinc hail while passing around a communal bowl of a drink made from mulled ale or mead, spices, and apples, known as wassail. Wassailing has two primary forms: one that occurs post-Christmas, often associated with Twelfth Night, and another that takes place before Christmas. The latter involves singing carols and sharing wassail from a bowl. At the same time, the former includes rituals to encourage fertility in orchards, such as singing to trees and offering cider-soaked toast. The carol Here We Come A-Wassailing has several variations, including Here We Come A-Caroling and Here We Come A-Christmasing, each with different lyrics but similar themes of merriment and well-wishing for the New Year.

Only his wind quintets are know among woodwind players. He revered W. A. Mozart, and arranged Die Zauberflöte for string quartets. A set of the part notes was published by M. Falter, Munich around 1800. His arrangement consists of 17 pieces as follows. No.1, Hm! Hm! Hm! Hm! No.17, Heil sei euch GeweihtenThe arrangement was very faithful to the original, and is valuable in that players could enjoy the wonderful music as a chamber music.We first made the transcript of the sheet music published by M. Falter, and combined them to make scores. The scores show some discrepancies, which are usual in such old music notes, and was revised to obtain unified styles and articulations. In the revising, we referred the original score by Mozart.No.14, Klinget, Glockchen, klinget! is for Papageno and the three boys. The three boys stop Papageno, and urge him to play the magic bells to find Papagena.

A great sounding arrangement of A Night in Tunisia, your String Orchestra will love it!A jazz solo is written out for you, if you wish you can improvise on the given chord symbols!A Night in Tunisia is a musical composition written by Dizzy Gillespie around 1941–42, while Gillespie was playing with the Benny Carter band. It has become a jazz standard.It is also known as Interlude. Gillespie called the tune Interlude and said some genius decided to call it 'Night in Tunisia'. He said the tune was composed at the piano at Kelly's Stables in New York. He gave Frank Paparelli co-writer credit in compensation for some unrelated transcription work, but Paparelli had nothing to do with the song. A Night in Tunisia was one of the signature pieces of Gillespie's bebop big band, and he also played it with his small groups. In January 2004, The Recording Academy added the 1946 Victor recording by Gillespie to the Grammy Hall of Fame.On the album A Night at Birdland Vol. 1, Art Blakey introduced his 1954 cover version with this statement: At this time we'd like to play a tune [that] was written by the famous Dizzy Gillespie. I feel rather close to this tune because I was right there when he composed it in Texas on the bottom of a garbage can. The audience laughs, but Blakey responds, Seriously. The liner notes say, The Texas department of sanitation can take a low bow.The complex ostinato bass line in the A section is notable for avoiding the standard walking bass pattern of straight quarter notes, and the use of oscillating half-step-up/half-step-down chord changes (using the Sub V, a tritone substitute chord for the dominant chord) gives the song a unique, mysterious feeling. The B section is notable for having an unresolved minor II-V, since the chord progression of the B section is taken from the B section of the standard Alone Together, causing the V chord to lead back into the Sub V of the A section.Like many of Gillespie's tunes, it features a short written introduction and a brief interlude that occurs between solo sections - in this case, a twelve-bar sequence leading into a four-bar break for the next soloist.

Selling over a million copies in the UK, it reached number four in the UK singles chart. Always a favourite for weddings, Capriccio Quartet recorded it for their repertoire, and it is a song that easily lends itself to a string arrangement.I chose to stick to the original key of D, a great key for string players. At times I have thickened the texture by using double stopping. In this arrangement I have tried to use an open string wherever possible. In some cases there are bare fifths. If you prefer you can choose one of the notes to play instead, especially if this note is doubled in another part. I have also put in some bowing, but the endgame is to feel comfortable, so please feel free to change it and alter the slurring if it makes it easier. I have given the cellist some solos, but everyone in the quartet has some time in the sun in this arrangement. And don’t be afraid to use open strings in this piece, especially in the semi- quavers. They sound great!I am aiming this quartet at the professional market, for weddings and other events, but I am hopeful that younger players will also have the courage to try it, even if the intention is not to ever perform it but to have some fun! When Brazilian singer Morris Albert recorded Feelings in 1974 it became an international hit song and rose to number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. But there was a problem--Albert had claimed authorship of both the words and music, not acknowledging that he was using a tune written by the French songwriter Loulou Gasté. In 1981 Gasté sued Albert for copyright infringement, claiming that Feelings plagiarized the melody of his 1957 song Pour Toi. Gasté won the lawsuit, gaining seven-eighths of all royalties, and they now share the credits for the song. Whatever the legal issues, this lush, romantic arrangement for string quartet will spark feelings of love in any audience. The file includes the full score and all four parts.

John Bull was an English composer, organist, virginalist, and organ builder who lived from 1562/63 to 1628. He was educated as a chorister of the Chapel Royal in London and later became a Doctor of Music at both Oxford and Cambridge Universities. Bull was one of the most famous composers of keyboard music of the early 17th century, and most of his compositions were written for the virginal, a keyboard instrument popular in the Renaissance period. He was known for his outstanding technical ability and keyboard virtuosity, and his music is distinguished by unfailing resourcefulness in devising new musical ideas. Bull's reputation rests on his extensive compositions for virginals and organ, some 150 extant pieces published in Musica Britannica. He was also one of the contributors to Parthenia, a collection of keyboard music published in 1611. Bull wrote an anthem, God the Father, God the Son, for the 1613 wedding of the princess and the Elector Palatine, in addition to his keyboard compositions, verse anthems, canons, and other works. Bull's music ranked among the foremost composers along with Byrd, Gibbons, and Tomkins.John Bull had several contemporaries who were also prominent composers during the Renaissance period.
