A minor - 3/4 - Melody occurs in all parts. Bowings are only suggested. Some third position in first violin  Written for my great-great great Grandfather Samuel Cleland. He was born in Ballywoollen, Down Northern Ireland in July of 1786 and worked as a farmer, a mason, and a boot maker. At the age of 27 he arrived in Orange  County, New York to look for land and decided to go back to Ireland to marry Jane Jean Martin.  In 1815 he immigrated to New York with his new wife and  bought a stone house with 60 acres. In 1858, he bought a farm in the Janesville Township of Wisconsin. He and his wife had nine children. His son, Samuel Cleland was my great great grandfather. He and his wife Mary Ann McCartney had eight daughters.The eldest was my great grandmother Helen Burnett Cleland.

The Hebrides Overture, also known as Fingal's Cave, is a concert overture composed by Felix Mendelssohn in 1830, revised in 1832, and published the following year as Mendelssohn's Op. 26. It is a standalone composition in a form familiar to the Romantic period and is not drawn from a stage work or opera. The overture consists of two primary themes, with the opening notes stating the theme Mendelssohn wrote while visiting Fingal's Cave and the second theme depicting movement at sea and rolling waves.Mendelssohn was inspired to compose this piece after visiting the Scottish island of Staffa and its famous Fingal’s Cave, which made a deep impression on him due to its echoing acoustics and the sound of waves crashing against rocks. (Spanish below) Based on the suite A Symphonic Fantasy, we did a conversion with three of the most remembered melodies from Mary Poppins. You have an intro with chim-chim-cheree, followed by feed the birds, but they don't fully develop. After that, A Spoon of Sugar, with the birds part made by the first violin and the second and viola enkoying. The next part is, now complete, Chim-Chim-Cheree, with the melody starting in the cello, and then passing by the rest of instruments from lower to higher. When the second plays the melody, the first plays a counter-theme a little bit tricky. And, in the end, now complete, Feed the Birds, with constant dialogs between the violins. Tested and approved arrangement. All Nonamé arrangements are prepared to avoid page turns if you print the covers properly. Basándonos en la suite A Symphonic Fantasy, hicimos una conversión con tres de las melodÃas más recordadas de Mary Poppins. Tienes una introducción con chim-chim-cheree, seguida de Pan para los pájaros, pero no se desarrollan por completo. The parts are available as a separate download. The following is taken from the catalogue of the composer's works:- The photocopy of the MS is marked String Quartet No. 1, but is not regarded by the composer as part of his mature string quartet writing. The MS itself was lost in a fire at the home of Col. Robert Tong, formerly Registrar of Queen Mary College, University of London. A typesetting was made in November 2000 as the photocopy had faded so badly. The composer's sketch books suggest that the movements were written in the order 3,2,4,1. 1. Allegro 2. Scherzo (Allegro energico) Trio I - tempo di menuetto Trio II - no tempo indicated - [andante] 3. Andante con moto 4. Allegro ma non troppo Composer's note:- As the above suggests, I originally had no intention of publishing this early piece. The recording by the Lochrian String Quartet of the six numbered quartets, however , together with sleeve notes admitting the existence of this work, prompted me into revising my opinion and allowing its publication, so that anyone wishing to study this first effort may do so. It shows certain traits that I was to develop in the six quartets and others that I was to discard, and therefore is of musicological interest. It also has a few good, albeit imitative, tunes! Duration: Approx. 25 mins. COLIN BAYLISS was born in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire in 1948. His life-long love of music led him to compose from an early age and he now has a catalogue of over a hundred works including two operas, four symphonies, six string quartets and many other pieces for most instrumental and chamber groupings, over seventy of them published. He is a member of the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters, the North West Composers' Association and the Performing Rights Society. As well as writing music himself, he has also compiled annotated catalogues of the works of Anthony Hedges and Sir Peter Maxwell Davies. CDs of his piano music played by David Martin and complete organ music played by Ronald Frost are available on the New Century Classics label. This is not my first string quartet, but I think this is great program music; the titles of the movements (One of Those Daze, Reflections, Good Times) speak for themselves. The first movement explores rhythms and different meters (same pulse). The second movement is calming and reflective, like a prayer. The third movement is euphoric and probably the easiest one to play, which can be welcome if your group is giving a concert. Needless to say, the two outer movements are good for gigs such as receptions and parties. The score and each part is included in one PDF. Audio will be forthcoming upon being recorded.

It can be played freely by beginning students because of the ease imposed on the piece. It is often performed at wedding ceremonies slowly and reverently, challenging the effect suggested by Bach in his original score for voices with trumpet, oboes, strings, and continuous bass. This is one of Bach's most beautiful cantatas, made famous by the Jesus the Joy of Men chorus. It was originally composed for Advent 1716 in Weimar. Years later, already in Leipzig, Advent was tempus clausum, there was no music in the churches. Bach then reworked it for the Feast of Mary's Visitation. It is the final chorale of the cantata Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben. Although it is the 32nd cantata composed by Bach, of those that have survived, it was given BWV 147 in the complete catalog of his works.

The Fugue in A-flat minor, WoO 8, is one of the early organ works by Brahms, composed around 1856-57. It is an intense, brooding fugue published without an opus number. The fugue is part of a small set of four early organ pieces by Brahms, including the chorale prelude and fugue O Traurigkeit, o Herzeleid (WoO 7). These early organ works demonstrate Brahms' mastery of counterpoint at a young age. While Brahms did not have a close personal relationship with the organ, the genre of the chorale prelude allowed him to pay homage to his musical heritage, following the conventions of the form by paraphrasing and elaborating on pre-existing Lutheran chorale melodies. The Fugue in A-flat minor is considered one of the most significant and high-quality of Brahms' early organ works. It was eventually assigned the posthumous opus number 122, which is still known today. So, in summary, the Fugue in A-flat minor is an essential early organ work by Brahms that demonstrates his mastery of counterpoint, even though the organ was not his primary instrument. It is considered a significant and high-quality piece within Brahms' overall organ output.
