There are also free sections of imitative counterpoint interspersed. All this occurs over a syncopated ostinato rhythm that has the eight eighth notes of the 4/4 measure grouped as 3,3,2 resulting in a very festive arrangement for concert use.

He is said to have succeeded Scarlatti in 1725 at Sant’Onofrio and to have remained there until 1742, when he succeeded Nicola Porpora as head of the Conservatorio di Santa Maria de Loreto, also in Naples. He held this post for thirteen years, until his death on September 30, 1755. His fame as a teacher was considerable, and, unlike his Neapolitan contemporaries, who attracted international notice with their operas, Francesco Durante achieved recognition through his church music, along with some vocal chamber and instrumental works. His concern was not quantity. A complete collection of Durante’s works, consisting almost exclusively of sacred music, was presented by Gaspare Selveggi, a Neapolitan art collector and music theorist, to the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris. The original keys of C Major & Bb Minor have been altered to best suit the range of the 2 Saxes. Also, an opportunity for the Baritone player to get the drinks in !! The Prelude 1 Completely different from the Prelude that opens Book 1, which is mainly broken chords, this opening Prelude to Book 2 features a continuously flowing sequence of melodic ideas. According to Levinson, few pieces of traditional music are more purely processive as this. It develops without a break or pause, without arrivals of significance, from beginning to end Good to play as well!! The Fugue 22 The four voices are distributed throughout the parts, and at 101 bars, it is certainly one of Bach's longest, and definitely one of the most enjoyable to play, especially in a generous acoustic. Also available here in Clarinet Quartet and Wind Quartet flavours!!

The Slavonic Dances are a series of 16 orchestral pieces composed by AntonÃn Dvořák in 1878 and 1886 and published in two sets as Op. 46 and Op. 72 respectively. Originally written for piano four hands, the Slavonic Dances were inspired by Johannes Brahms's own Hungarian Dances and were orchestrated at the request of Dvořák's publisher soon after composition. The pieces, lively and full of national character, were well received at the time and today are considered among the composer's most memorable works, occasionally making appearances in popular culture.
