Saxophone Quartet,Woodwind Ensemble - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1140803 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Ander. Classical,Instructional,March,Opera,Romantic Period. 12 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #741060. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1140803). This arrangement adapted for sax quartet was written keeping the characteristics of the original work, that is, inspiring and significant to the already known choral symphony by Beethoven, indicated to be performed by young music students, who want to enter the symphonic music, moreover, it can also be used by professional musicians, for recitals, repertoire, academic presentations and didactic material. As much as it is a funeral march, it is well suited for any musical performance occasion. The transcription is faithful to the structure, with only one change in key, so that it is comfortable for all instruments in the formation, thus maintaining the essence of the striking melody, as well as using it for ensemble practice among musicians of different traditions. Beethoven's Ninth Symphony Op. 125 incorporates part of the poem An die Freude (To Joy), a hymn written by Friedrich Schiller, with the text sung by soloists and a choir in its last movement. It was the first example of a major composer using the human voice as prominently as the instruments in a symphony, thus creating a far-reaching work that set the tone for the symphonic form that was to be adopted by Romantic composers. This is the last complete symphony composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. The choral symphony, better known as the Ninth Symphony or The Ninth, is one of the best known works in the Western repertoire, considered both an icon and predecessor of Romantic music, and one of Beethoven's great masterpieces, where it was first performed on May 7, 1824, the same year it was completed, at the Kärntnertortheater in Vienna, Austria. The conductor was Michael Umlauf, the theater's music director, and Beethoven - dissuaded from conducting by the advanced stage of his deafness - was given a special place on the stage next to the conductor. It was later rearranged by Herbert von Karajan to become the anthem of the European Union in 1972, the national anthem of Rhodesia from 1974 until 1979, Rise, O Voices of Rhodesia, used the tune Ode to Joy..

Arranged by JCBmusic. Jazz. 19 pages. Rachel Brown #6716117. Published by Rachel Brown (A0.954380). For mixed ability sax band - I've arranged this so that everyone has a little of the melody line somewhere as much as possible. There are rehearsal marks and bar numbers to make it easy for people to quickly find a place. I've also made sure that all repeat beginnings are at the beginning of the line to make them easy to find. My band have really enjoyed playing this.I will also be adding a wind band and brass band version in the very near future. .

Logan Moore #6674517. Published by Logan Moore (A0.973437). A bit of a circus piece, this piece is meant to depict the scene of an abandoned amusement park, haunted by a scary clown. Many of the melodies appear to be almost tonal, but are often subverted by chromatic parts/countermelodies. This piece brings atonality to (hopefully) a place where the audience will understand what the odd melodies should make them feel.Run time ~ 3.5 min.

Arranged by Bill Malcolm. Rock. 7 pages. Bill Malcolm #6434505. Published by Bill Malcolm (A0.786300). The sound clip is from measure 26 through the next 30 seconds, which is a strange place to start it, but the arrangement starts with a quirky semi-classical feel (and ends the same way) and I wanted the melody to be present in the clip. This arrangement exists in a wind quartet and clarinet quartet version both available on this website.

Arranged by Dennis Ruello. Christmas,Holiday,Renaissance,Standards,World. 8 pages. Chicory Music #5327015. Published by Chicory Music (A0.736656). The Boar's Head CarolThis Christmas carol talks about a feast during midwinter in which a wild boar was served as the main dish and its head placed in a situated position to symbolize bravery and abundance. Closely related to the Norse tradition of boar sacrifice to their goddess Freyja during the feast of Winter Solstice, this song originated from an urban legend in Queen's College, Oxford back in the 15th century which tells of how a scholar from Queen’s College managed to kill an attacking boar and offered it at dinner. The song was first published in English during the 1520’s in a book entitled Christmase Carolles Newly Emprynted at London in the flete street, which was written by Jan van Wynken de Worde. It is also said to be the very 1st Christmas carol to ever be publish in English because it dates back that early.Although the modern versions of the song makes no mention of Christmas, the original verses does so in The boar's head we bring with song, in worship of Him that thus sprung, of a Virgin to redress all wrong; NoelThis Intermediate Level arrangement starts out in Ab Major and modulates to Bb Major for the final chorus. La Paloma is a popular Spanish song that has been produced and reinterpreted in diverse cultures, settings, arrangements, and recordings over the last 140 years. The song was composed and written by the Spanish composer from the Basque region Sebastián Iradier (later Yradier) after he visited Cuba in 1861. Iradier may have composed La Paloma around 1863, just two years before he died in Spain in obscurity, never to learn how popular his song would become. La Paloma belongs to a genre of songs called Habaneras, a musical style developed in 19th-century Spain that is still today very much present in the form of folk songs and formal compositions, particularly in the Northern Basque Region and East Coast (Catalonia and Valencia) regions of the country. Like all Habaneras, its characteristic and distinct rhythm reflects the fusion of the local Cuban songs that the Spanish sailors of the time brought back with them from their travels to the island, with the rhythm structure of the flamenco tanguillo gaditano (original from Cádiz, Andalusia). Very quickly La Paloma became popular outside of Spain, particularly in Mexico, and soon spread around the world. In many places, including Afghanistan, Hawaii, the Philippines, Germany, Romania, Zanzibar, and Goa it gained the status of a quasi-folk song. Over the years the popularity of La Paloma has surged and receded periodically, but never subsided. It may be considered one of the first universal popular hits and has appealed to artists of diverse musical backgrounds.[1] There are more than one thousand versions of this song, and that together with Yesterday by the Beatles, is one of the most recorded songs in the history of music. Instrumentation: Soprano (Alto), Alto, Tenor, Baritone Listen to the recording - a challenge for your ensemble. Saxophone Quartet,Woodwind Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1025680 Composed by Franz Joseph Haydn. Arranged by Brett A. Foster. Classical. 20 pages. Brett A Foster #5001797. Published by Brett A Foster (A0.1025680). The Symphony No. 85 in B♠major, Hoboken I/85, is the fourth of the six Paris symphonies (numbers 82–87) written by Joseph Haydn. It is popularly known as La Reine (The Queen). This arrangement is from the second movement: Romanze: Allegretto. The arrangement is an arrangement / reduction of the original slow movement for Four Saxophones - Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Baritone Saxes. It is a very pretty work in Theme and Variation style form. There have been some minor liberties taken in part writing and octaves to make sure it works well on saxophone. I myself am a high school teacher and saxophone player, so I have made the parts accessible for most players. This work would be accessible by high school players and above. Saxophone Quartet,Woodwind Ensemble - Digital Download SKU: A0.1340134 Composed by Adolf Jackel. Arranged by Paul Kajzar. Romantic Period. 7 pages. Paul Kajzar, Gyllcott Music #925801. Published by Paul Kajzar, Gyllcott Music (A0.1340134). An arrangement for saxophone quartet (2 altos, tenor, baritone) of Maienzauber (translates as “May Magicâ€), originally composed for four horns. Biographical details regarding Adolf Jackel are very limited, but it seems likely that he was active as a composer during the second half of the 19th century and into the early part of the 20th. This is a short movement with an almost hymn-like quality in places, and might be helpful to players who want to concentrate on intonation and ensemble. The set comprises full score and parts. Difficulty level : Easy/Intermediate.
