Saxophone Quartet,Woodwind Ensemble Tenor Saxophone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1138458 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Ander. Christmas,Classical,Instructional,March,Romantic Period. 14 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #738794. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1138458). This arrangement adapted for tenor saxophone quartet was designed to make its listeners weep with emotion, because the adaptation preserves the original essence of the work, keeping its integrity faithful to what Beethoven wanted to transmit, with only a slight change in tone and addition of harmonic resources in the structure of the arrangement. Even though it is a funeral march, it is well suited for any musical performance occasion, being intended for beginner students who want to immerse themselves in the universe of romantic music, and nothing better than starting with the transitional composer of this period, which also does not prevent professional teachers from using it for recitals, academic presentations or didactic material in their classes as an ensemble practice. Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14 in C minor sharp, Op. 27, No. 2, is one of his most popular compositions and was an audience favorite even in his day. Written when Beethoven was 31, the Moonlight Sonata (Mondscheinsonate in German) was composed after he finished some commissioned works, but there is no evidence that he was hired to write this work. It did not receive its nickname until 1832, five years after Beethoven's death. It was the critic Ludwig Rellstab who compared the music to a moonlighting on Lake Lucerne. This comparison was adopted as a nickname for the work. Called Quasi una fantasia by the author - like its companion Op. 27, No. 1 - the piece was completed in 1801 and dedicated the following year to one of the composer's pupils. Beethoven chose to open the sonata with a slow, hypnotic arpeggio movement, the best known of the entire work. The dotted rhythm of its minimal melody evokes the tradition of 'Trauermusik' (funeral music).

Minuet by Boccherini for Alto Sax Quartet
Saxophone Quartet: 4 saxophones
Saxophone Quartet,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0…
(+)
Saxophone Quartet,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1141024 Composed by Luigi Boccherini. Arranged by Ander. Baroque,Classical,Instructional,Traditional,Wedding. 7 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #741279. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1141024). This simple arrangement adapted for alto sax quartet was imagined for a group of beginner students who want to start their immersion in classical music, of course with the help of a teacher. Even though the original work is for strings, this did not prevent this beautiful adaptation, where the original essence of the work was maintained, being made only an adaptation of the tonality and some adaptations in the tessitura of the instruments. This piece can be used for professional and academic recitals, didactic material and repertoire for ensemble practice as well, which does not prevent professional musicians and instructors from using it for performances of their preference. Luigi Boccherini was born in the city of Lucca, in northern Italy. He studied cello and became a virtuoso who eventually moved to Spain, where he worked with the Spanish royal family for the rest of his life. His String Quintet in E major, Op. 11, No. 5, G 275, was written in 1771 and published in 1775, and is one of his most famous works. The quintet is famous for its minuet and trio, third movement which is often played as an independent piece outside the context of the full quintet. This is notably the most famous, it is in 3/4 time, in the key of E Major modulating to A Major. This is a beautiful work, and not just the third movement, with good partial writing for all. The lovely, flowing melodies and rhythms are typical of Boccherini. The quintet is suitable for both concerts and home performances.

To be sure, The Beethoven Scherzi Duets for Saxophone are a marvel of Beethoven’s skill with sections reaching the sublime. It is my deep felt personal belief that these Scherzi will bring you great pleasure and long lasting satisfaction. Joe Procopio AN INTRODUCTION TO THE BEETHOVEN DUETS By Joe Procopio Because of the complexities, range and sonorities inherent in all of the Beethoven Symphonies, it may seem impossible to transcribe any one movement as a duet that is true to the composer. Nevertheless, I believe these duets contain the heart, soul and essence of Beethoven’s melodies, rhythms and expressions; even though these works are tiny when they are compared to the Master’s great musical creations which have no equal. In fact, there is no comparison. However, my sincere hope is that since I have rendered some of Beethoven’s music as duets, his music is now more readily available to all permitting a greater number of musicians and all the people who hear their performances to come to know and love a bit of the world’s most valuable, breathtaking and beautiful music. In truth, Beethoven’s music has stood the test of time. He astonished people in his day whenever he performed his music or had his music played. He still does today. To be sure, his music has enhanced and enriched the lives of many of us for over 200 years. In performing and listening to these Scherzi you will find the whole of each work a marvel of Beethoven’s skill with sections reaching the sublime. Few composers have been able to write down on paper music of such incredible beauty that it reflects the awesome splendor of God’s creation. What comes to mind immediately is Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony No. 6. It has been said, that much of his music mirrors not only the magnificence of God’s creation but also the radiance of God the Creator himself. In any event, this music is simply amazing and awe-inspiring. A joy to listen to and to play. I know and can safely say without any hesitation or reservations that this collection will bring you much enjoyment.

As with my other Excursions, No. 6 was composed during the second half of 2023. In addition, even though the core of this piece began on the piano, it quickly became clear to me that a saxophone quartet would be the perfect ensemble to express my musical ideas. The duration of this pieces is just under four minutes and moves rather quickly. The reason for the title Turnaround is because the bass line (shared by tenor and baritone saxophones) is the jazz version of the I-vi-ii-V chord progression. The jazz version of this includes several chromatic passing tones and the saxophones do this very well. For additional information: www.dianamascari.com.

Saxophone Quartet,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1416919 Composed by Johannes Brahms. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. 19th Century,Chamber,Contest,Festival,Historic,Romantic Period. 17 pages. Jmsgu3 #998509. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1416919). The Fugue in A-flat minor, WoO 8, is one of the early organ works by Brahms, composed around 1856-57. It is an intense, brooding fugue published without an opus number. The fugue is part of a small set of four early organ pieces by Brahms, including the chorale prelude and fugue O Traurigkeit, o Herzeleid (WoO 7). These early organ works demonstrate Brahms' mastery of counterpoint at a young age. While Brahms did not have a close personal relationship with the organ, the genre of the chorale prelude allowed him to pay homage to his musical heritage, following the conventions of the form by paraphrasing and elaborating on pre-existing Lutheran chorale melodies. The Fugue in A-flat minor is considered one of the most significant and high-quality of Brahms' early organ works. It was eventually assigned the posthumous opus number 122, which is still known today. So, in summary, the Fugue in A-flat minor is an essential early organ work by Brahms that demonstrates his mastery of counterpoint, even though the organ was not his primary instrument. It is considered a significant and high-quality piece within Brahms' overall organ output.

In the original key from their Kilroy Was Here LP, the song and the LP reached #3 in the U.S. What destroyed Styx fan base was that they wanted to see Styx in concert perform their hits. But Dennis DeYoung decided to make their tour more of a broadway show, using both live instruments and backing tracks. The fan base revolted and Styx never regained their stardom, even though they still tour. This is the complete album track. Duration = 5:32. This is the first single and opening number of a lesser known group that Todd Rundgren fronted, Nazz. I actually liked this group, even though they were not commercially successful. This song was released as a single. However it fell short, mainly because the B-Side was accepted better, Hello, It's Me. This song is a rocker and a typical 60s rock song. Rock was beginning to take hold, however, a lot of bands added a smooth section in their songs to get more appeal. This song is no exception to that rule. The song is unusual in that the section that leads to the final chorus has several time signature changes, which was not the norm for the time. This song still rocks with the best of them. Playing around with the Soprano, Altos and Tenor to reproduce the colors offered by the 2 violins and 2 violas of the original. The music has a pastoral and light character, combined with the use of long lines. Even though the melody is very defined the rest of the members are not just accompainment, but equally important.Orchestration:1 Sopranos2 Altos1 Tenor1 BaritoneMore information about me and other works can be found on my website: www.ivansanchez.nl

For me, Saxophone Quartet music is also the closest to the human choir. While writing my saxophone quartet I was intrigued to explore the ensemble's technical, timbrel, rhythmical and lyrical aspects. The four saxophones can create a homogeneous texture, but can also express their own individuality and uniqueness. Therefore, the quartet consists of five movements, and four recitatives, one for each saxophone. The recitatives' purpose is double: to feature one saxophone a time on one hand, and lead to the next movement on the other. Saxophone Quartet was commissioned by the Fromm Music Foundation and received its first performance by the Raschèr Saxophone Quartet. Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549860 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Baroque,Concert,Easter,Sacred,Wedding. 14 pages. Jmsgu3 #3557041. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549860). Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme (Awake, the Voice is calling us) from Cantata BWV 140. Duration: ca. 4:00, Score: 10 pages, Program this for church services during the Easter season, weddings, or as a recital encore.Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme (Awake, the Voice is calling us) also known as: Sleepers Awake Bach composed his church cantata Wachet auf (BWV 140) as part of his second annual cantata cycle covering the entire annual church calendar. It is based on the hymn of the same name by Philipp Nicolai (1599). The hymn text covers the readings for the 27th Sunday after Trinity. Bach designed the cantata in seven movements, setting the stanzas in various forms. Among these forms are the chorale fantasia, the chorale prelude, and a four-part chorale. He casts the new lyrics as recitatives – in a manner similar to the opera. Fourth Movement Bach writes the fourth movement, Zion hört die Wächter singen (Zion hears the watchmen singing), in the style of a chorale prelude with the chorale phrases performed as a strict cantus firmus. The phrases seem to enter at times erratically against the famous lyrical melody. The violins play this melody in unison as a foil against the cantus phrases. The violin melody is so independent and complete that when the cantus melody appears it catches the listener at times totally off-guard. Bach later transcribed this movement for organ (BWV 645). This transcription became No. 1 of the Six Schübler Chorales. Bach Overview First of all, Johann Sebastian Bach is maybe the greatest composer in music history. Certainly, he was prolific. As a result, everyone has heard of his works. Furthermore, these works number well over a thousand. It seems like people are probably most familiar with the instrumental works such as the Brandenburg Concertos, and the Goldberg Variations. But, similarly famous are such noteworthy works as the Well-Tempered Clavier, the Musical Offering, and certainly the Art of Fugue. Seems like his most famous vocal works include the most noteworthy Mass in B Minor. Also, most noteworthy, though, are the St. John Passion, and certainly the Christmas Oratorio. History Bach came from a long line of musicians and above all, composers. Consequently, he, first of all, pursued a career as a church organist. So as a result, he gained employment in various Protestant churches in Germany. For a while, he worked as a court musician in Weimar and Köthen. Here he probably developed his organ style and likewise his chamber music style. Eventually, he, therefore, gained an appointment as Cantor of St. Thomas in Leipzig. Here he worked until difficulties with his employer ultimately drove him away. The King of Poland finally appointed him as court composer. Style It seems like Bach created a fascinating new international style. He synthesized elements of the most noteworthy European music ideas into his new style. Even more, this new style was probably his synthesis of European musical rhythm and form. Furthermore, he demonstrated a complete mastery of counterpoint and motivic development. His sense of harmonic organization probably propelled him to the top. Revival Mendelssohn conducted a Bach revival in the nineteenth century. His effort probably helped to re-familiarize the public with the magnitude of Bach’s works. During this period, scholars published many noteworthy Bach biographies. Moreover, Wolfgang Schmieder published the BWV (Bach Werke Verzeichnis). As a result, this is now the official catalog of his entire artistic output. The BWV number allows us to locate a work in the catalog. Sometimes scholars will simply use an S (Schmieder) as an abbreviation for BWV. Voyager

Arranged by John A. Dempsey. Celtic,Easter,Irish,Spiritual,Traditional,Wedding. 20 pages. John A. Dempsey #3544065. Published by John A. Dempsey (A0.523560). Give me a boat that can carry two and both shall row, my love and I. From a rich, vibrant tradition comes the classic The Water is Wide, crafted to evoke misty Scottish landscapes with rolling green hills (you can almost smell the heather). This unabashedly romantic woodwind quartet (soprano sax, alto sax, tenor sax and baritone sax) is perfect for weddings and ceilidhs (or any Celtic-themed music event) as well as recitals and concerts. As wedding music, The Water is Wide stirs the heart as a prelude, unity candle accompaniment, a bridal march or a bridesmaid processional. As the melody has been used in multiple hymn settings, including The Gift of Love, Though I May Speak with Bravest Fire and as an alternate melody for When I Survey the Wondrous Cross, this music is effective for traditional church services and other worship events, as a prelude, postlude, an offertory, interlude, silent prayer accompaniment and special music. Concert Key: F major. Soprano/Tenor Sax Key: G major. Alto/Baritone Sax Key: D major. 16 pages of music (that includes the score and separate two-page pullout parts for each sax) .
