Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813729 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. 20th Century,Contemporary,Standards,Wedding. 9 pages. Regis Bookshar #6474733. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813729). Jupiter (Andante Maestoso from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets) (Woodwind Quintet) - Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts and recitals but if you are considering using this selection for church services in which a congregation may sing along, I would suggest that you look for the arrangements of either I Vow to Thee, My Country, O God, Beyond All Praising, O Spirit All Embracing or Thaxted, also by Regis Bookshar. They are all based on the same excerpt from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets. These arrangements are suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing these selections as well. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (9 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. We have performed the Trumpet Quintet version of this composition quite often for numerous weddings and other special occasions. The Planets, written between 1914 and 1917 by the English composer Gustav Holst, premiered at the Queen's Hall in London, on September 29, 1918 for an invited audience of about 250 people. In the fourth movement, Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity, Holst portrays Jupiter's supposedly characteristic abundance of life and vitality. Nobility and generosity are allegedly characteristics of those born under Jupiter, and in the slower, middle section marked Andante Maestoso, perhaps the most well-known theme from The Planets (and the theme on which this arrangement is based), Holst provides a broad tune embodying these traits. In 1921, Holst adapted the theme to fit the patriotic poem I Vow to Thee, My Country by Cecil Spring Rice, and was written as a unison song with orchestra. It did not appear as the hymn tune until 1926, when Holst harmonized this melody, named Thaxted, named after the English village where he had lived for many years. Holst's friend Ralph Vaughan Williams included it in Songs of Praise. It has since been performed at numerous occasions, most notably for the wedding of Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales in 1981, and also at the funerals of Princess Diana in 1997, Margaret Thatcher in 2013 and Senator John McCain where it was performed at the Washington National Cathedral on September 1, 2018. In addition to being used as the melody for the solemn, patriotic hymn I Vow to Thee, My Country, other settings of this hymn tune also include O God, Beyond All Praising, by Michael Perry in 1982, O Spirit All Embracing by Delores Dufner in 1995 and We Praise You and Acknowledge You, O God, a paraphrase of the Te Deum Laudemus by Stephen P. Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for a Woodwind Quintet, consisting of 1 Flute, 1 Oboe, 1 Clarinet (which has the lead), 1 French Horn and 1 Bassoon, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection. There are Quintets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of Jupit.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.553690 Composed by Frederick Delius. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Concert,Holiday,Wedding. 21 pages. RayThompsonMusic #3506929. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553690). On Hearing the First Cuckoo in Spring is a tone poem composed in 1912 by Frederick Delius; it was first performed in Leipzig on 23 October 1913. It is the first of Two Pieces for Small Orchestra, the second piece being Summer Night on the River, although these have for many years existed separately on recordings and in the concert hall. The piece opens with a slow three-bar sequence; its first theme is an exchange of cuckoo calls. The second theme is taken from a Norwegian folk song, In Ola Valley, which was brought to his attention by the Australian composer and folk-song arranger Percy Grainger. (The theme was also arranged by Edvard Grieg in his 19 Norwegian Folksongs, Op. 66.)The clarinet returns with the cuckoo calls before the piece ends in pastoral fashion.Arranged symphonic wind and contra bass/tuba.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1195678 Composed by Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn. Arranged by Hugh Levey. 19th Century,Chamber,Classical,Romantic Period,Wedding. 18 pages. Woodwindly.com #794855. Published by woodwindly.com (A0.1195678). Wind Quintet - Flute, Oboe, Clarinet (for A or Bb), French Horn and Bassoon.Mendelssohn's delightful Spring Song (Frühlingslied) appears in the fifth volume of his Songs Without Words (Lieder ohne Worte), which were published between 1842 and 1844. The Songs Without Words are short, lyrical piano pieces that were intended for the drawing room but also well suited to the recital room. The Spring Song is one of the most well known and has been arranged for various combinations, including an arrangement by the composer for piano duet, and by others for small theatre orchestra and symphony orchestra. This arrangement for wind quintet remains in the original key of A Major, which Mendelssohn probably chose for its bright, Spring-like qualities. The melodic material is shared between all five instruments which helps bring some additional tonal variation and colour to this lovely piece. Duration 2' 31.

This pleasant and lively composition is divided into five parts, a small rondo form. The first theme is in Zi-pentatonic mode, mainly play by flute. The main theme is later transposed a fifth higher and orchestrated between the oboe, clarinet and bassoon parts. The second theme is in a slower, more sentimental mood. It builds up as a contrast section to the first theme. French horn plays the traditional Wedding Song of the Puyuma tribe and dominates in this section. In the third part of this composition, the melodic line returns to the first theme, transformed to D-flat Zi-pentatonic mode. The oboe plays the main theme and later the clarinet plays the variations of this melodic line. The fourth section brings out the third theme of this piece: a traditional Atayal tribe’s Jew Harp Song melody that plays by the bassoon. This passionate, fast-tempo dancing theme is then composed into several variations and plays by oboe and clarinet. In the last section of the composition, the first theme returns again. Building up and reaches the climax then leads to the final of the piece. Professor Ma selected two aboriginal tribal songs, related to weddings and love, and quoted them in this piece and presented as a wedding gift for his beloved son. This father-son relationship and love, and also this unique composition, made that wedding ceremony a memorable event for the guests. This piece was premiered in 2002 at The Landis Taipei Hotel by Fu-Ming Huang (Flute), Chien-Chih Hung (Oboe), Jen-Hwa Huang (Clarinet), Yi-Fen Kuo (Bassoon) and Yih-Duen Huang (Horn).

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813786 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. 20th Century,Contemporary,Sacred,Standards,Wedding. 9 pages. Regis Bookshar #6476781. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813786). Thaxted (Bb) (Woodwind Quintet) - Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of Thaxted, a hymn tune based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for church services, especially Weddings and Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. However, if you are looking to perform this selection for concerts or recitals, I would suggest you look for the arrangement of Jupiter (Andante Maestoso from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets), also by Regis Bookshar. Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for a Woodwind Quintet, consisting of 1 Flute, 1 Oboe, 1 Clarinet, 1 French Horn and 1 Bassoon (which has the lead), he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of Thaxted based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813697 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. 20th Century,Contemporary,Multicultural,Standards,Wedding,World. 9 pages. Regis Bookshar #6474001. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813697). I Vow to Thee, My Country (Thaxted) (Bb) (Woodwind Quintet) - Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of I Vow to Thee, My Country, a hymn tune based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for church services, especially Weddings and Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. However, if you are looking to perform this selection for concerts or recitals, I would suggest you look for the arrangement of Jupiter (Andante Maestoso from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets), also by Regis Bookshar. Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for a Woodwind Quintet, consisting of 1 Flute (which has the lead), 1 Oboe, 1 Clarinet, 1 French Horn and 1 Bassoon, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of I Vow to Thee, My Country based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jup.
