A big hit for Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians in 1949, and covered by various artists, including Bing Crosby, Doris Day,Louis Prima. A lively calypso beat carries a message that is as relevant today as it was when written. Your older audiences will love it and remember it, your younger audiences will enjoy it. Piano - difficult - Digital Download Premier livre. Composed by Gyorgy Ligeti (1923-2006). This edition: Sheet music. Contemporary music, Hungary, Piano. Downloadable. Op. Vol. 1. Duration 20 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q16417. Published by Schott Music - Digital
It is fascinating how the famous Hungarian composer skilfully superimposes rhythms which, with shifted accents and different speeds, create a third dimension of hearing, like an optical illusion. The breathtaking whirling of the keys in 'Desordre', the first of 18 etudes for piano altogether, is a sign of Ligeti's enthusiasm for Central African music which later was to become so important to him.

Guitar,Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1302223 By Barry Manilow. By Richard Kerr and Scott English. Arranged by Unimusic Academy. Contemporary,Pop,Rock,Singer/Songwriter. Score. 5 pages. Unimusic Academy (Academia Unimusica) #891827. Published by Unimusic Academy (Academia Unimusica) (A0.1302223). Mandy is a romantic song that has had several versions. It was recorded for the first time in 1971, with the title Brandy by Scott English, however, it achieved popularity with the version by the American Barry Manilow in 1974, being his first song to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and his first golden song.12In 1992 the Italian music producer Marco Parmigiani produced a Eurodance version on 12-inch vinyl. It was released in Italy on the Disc-O-Very Records label, and a year later it was published in Spain on the legendary Barcelona label Max Music. The version was heard a lot in Valencian clubs in the 90s.It was later re-recorded by the Irish group Westlife in 2003, and this version became number one on the UK chart.3The song also appeared in several films, such as Can't Hardly Wait, being performed by various characters. One theory says that because of Manilow's alcoholism, Brandy became Mandy. It is thought that Scott English wrote Brandy inspired by his favorite dog that he let escape. English claimed (reported in The Billboard Book of Number One Adult Contemporary Hits) that an assistant called him early that morning to ask who Brandy was, and he, irritated, lied that it was a dog so that the conversation will end quickly. When Manilow recorded Mandy he was not happy with the electronic rhythm of English's original version, so he preferred to sing it as a ballad and was much more pleased with the results. The song was parodied on the show Gift Grub under the title Andy on The Drew Carey Show, where the name Mandy is replaced by Kyra. Who also performed a parody of Mandy was the German singer LaFee at the age of 13. Thanks to this imitation, called Handy, a music producer discovered her in a children's singing competition in Germany.Korean actor, singer and model Jang Keun Suk sings this song during the movie You are my petIt also appeared in an episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (originally aired in November 2006), and in an episode of The Simpsons, Homer sings it to Margo as Oh, Margo. Years later, in an episode of Family Guy, Manilow himself sings to Gregg a version of his song, Oh, Quagmire..

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1266129 Composed by John W. Fisher. 21st Century,Christian,Contemporary,Instructional,Praise & Worship. Octavo. 3 pages. John Fisher #858862. Published by John Fisher (A0.1266129). BARNABAS is my second published Sermon Song, based on the sermon Encouragment preached by Dr. Paul de Jong at First Presbyterian Church, Fort Myers Florida, on June 25, 2023. As I began taking my sermon notes, I was confused because in the King James, Barnabas, originally the Cypriate Levite Joseph was nicknamed, The Son of Consolation. In the Revised Standard Version, the Greek nicknamed him , The Son of of Encouragment. This Apostle is so important to the history of the Church, I feel there ought to be a song dedicated to him. When Saul, later to be called Paul, came to the Aplostles, he would have been rejected, were it not for the intervention of Barnabas. Mark, the Gospel writer, a relative of Barnabas, was rejected by Paul, until much later, perhaps by the encouragement of Barnabas. Barnabas himself was the perfect pal for St. Paul.I wrote this in the form of a traditional hymn, in the key of B major. I would hope that churches would consider singing this Sermon Song, as a form of worship and Christian education.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.576139 Composed by Carroll O'Daly. Arranged by David Warin Solomons. Contemporary,Folk,World. Octavo. 3 pages. David Warin Solomons #2031597. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576139). Choral arrangement of Robin Adair, with some interesting harmonies. Audio sample sung (multitrack and transposed down a little) by the composer The original tune was composed with the words Eibhlin a Ruin (Ellen Aroon or Eileen Aroon) by the Irish bard Carroll O'Daly (14th Century), although it was later attributed to the 18th century Irish composer Charles Coffey (this was presumably an arrangement of the original). The words of Robin Adair itself are understood to be by Lady Caroline Keppel, who was in love with a surgeon by that name. (This seems more likely than the theory that Robert Burns wrote it, although Burns certainly knew Keppel's lyrics and made his own parodies upon the words). Some later versions of the melody contain Scotch snaps but this version follows the simplest melodic line, without the Scotch snaps - which may have been closer to O'Daly's original tune - and with quite romantic choral harmonies.

Alto Recorder,Bass Recorder,Soprano Recorder,Tenor Recorder - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1137832 Composed by Christian Petzold, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Martin Luther. Arranged by Ander. Baroque,Easter,Renaissance,Sacred,Wedding. Recorder Ensemble. 44 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #738086. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1137832). This album contains 5 of Johann Sebastian Bach's most famous and versatile pieces for recorder quartet, all very well suited for the beginners who want to get to know the baroque repertoire. They are also suitable for performances at events such as: weddings, Christian and church ceremonies, Easter, and academic recitals or concerts. They can be used in music institutions and by teachers as repertoire material and study methods, either for performance or instrumental technique. This collection includes a totally free bonus for you to enjoy: Martin Luther's A Mighty Fortress is Our God, a Renaissance sacred song for choir, which has been adapted for this set. 1: Air on the G String - The original piece is part of Johann Sebastian Bach's Suite No. 3 for orchestra, in D Major, BWV 1068, written for Prince Leopold of Anhalt. The so-called Air on the G String dates from one of these latter employments. In the service of the Prince of Cöthen, Bach composed not only the famous Brandenburg Concertos, but also several orchestral suites, from the third of which comes the Air on the G String. This curious title derives from a later arrangement of this piece for violin solo, in which the melody is played entirely on the lower, higher string of the instrument. 2: Arioso - The Cantata 156 (BWV 156) was written for the third Sunday after Epiphany in 1729, and was first performed on January 23 of that year. The text is by Picander, one of Bach's favorite librettists. Of the four cantatas written by Bach for the feast, it was the last and only one scored for solo voice. This is a choral cantata, employing a choral melody in several movements. Cantata 156, in fact, employs two different choral melodies and texts in the second and sixth movements. A cantata is a sung symphony consisting of several parts, one of which is the Arioso, which is the initial instrumental part. 3: Jesu, joy of man's desiring - This is one of Bach's most beautiful cantatas, made famous by the Jesus the Joy of Men chorus. It was originally composed for Advent 1716 in Weimar. Years later, already in Leipzig, Advent was tempus clausum, there was no music in the churches. Bach then reworked it for the Feast of Mary's Visitation. It is the final chorale of the cantata Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben. Although it is the 32nd cantata composed by Bach, of those that have survived, it was given BWV 147 in the complete catalog of his works. 4: O Jesulein süss, o Jesulein mild - The Jesulein süß, the Jesulein mild is an original traditional German choral melody for voice and continuous bass arranged by Johann Sebastian Bach around 1735. With lyrics by Valentin Thilo, O Jesulein süss is a sacred melody adapted and catalogued as BWV 493. The first translation is by Dirk van Hogendorp, who made it more of a song for the time of suffering. 5: Minuet in G major - This famous piece has traditionally been attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach, as it appears in the Notebook for Anna Magdalena , a notebook that Bach gave to his wife Anna Magdalena in 1725 and which was to be filled with the favorite selections of Bach family members. However, recent research has concluded that this minuet, sometimes referred to as BWV Anhang 114. was probably composed by Christian Petzold, a German composer and organist contemporary with Bach. Bonus: A Mighty Fortress is Our God, by Martin Luther - Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott is a hymn written by Martin Luther probably before 1529. The melody was also considered his work for a long time, but it was created at least with the collaboration of Johann Walter. The song is of great symbolic power for Protestantism, where it is also known as Deus noster refugium et virtus. Considered one of the most important hymns in the history of Christianity, it was considered by the Christian poet Johann Heirich Heine (1797-1856) to be the Marseillaise of the Reformation, in an allusion to the French national anthem.

Saxophone Trio,Woodwind Ensemble Tenor Saxophone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1138516 Composed by Christian Petzold, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Martin Luther. Arranged by Ander. Baroque,Easter,Renaissance,Sacred,Wedding. 38 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #738857. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1138516). This album contains 5 of Johann Sebastian Bach's most famous and versatile pieces for tenor saxophone trio, all very well suited for the beginners who want to get to know the baroque repertoire.

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.802538 Composed by Sir Arthur Seymour Sullivan. Arranged by AC van der Leeuwen & Peet du Toit. Contemporary. Score and parts. 13 pages. Peet du Toit #5771119. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.802538). Composed in 1877 near the bedside of his brother, Fred, during the latter's last illness (died five days later), Arthur Sullivan produced an immediate success. It is his best-known song, although he has composed many other works as a prominent British composer. He admitted that none of his compositions later topped The Lost Chord. It is still performed today at many events, despite its hymn-like style. An early intermediate ensemble should be able to perform it, with as much musicality, insight, phrasing and technical ability as is required by this emotional piece.

Piano,Soprano Saxophone - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549121 Composed by Camille Saint-Saëns (1835 – 1921). Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 9 pages. Jmsgu3 #3452273. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549121). Saint-Saens: The Swan (Le Cygne) movement 13 from the Carnival of the Animals Suite. Duration: 2:50 Score: 5 pg, 28 ms. Solo part: 1 pg. Piano part: 3 pg. Performance: Level: Early intermediate and up. One of his most popular and widely recognized works, it is the only movement from the Carnival Suite that Saint-Saens permitted to be performed in public during his lifetime. This is an excellent recital encore choice to demonstrate melodic playing and strategic phrasing. The Carnival of the Animals The Carnival of the Animals is an entertaining musical suite of fourteen movements by Camille Saint-Saëns. The work was composed for private performance by an ensemble of two pianos and solo instruments. The Swan (No. 13) is one of the most popular of the fourteen movements. In its entirety, it lasts about 25 minutes. Saint-Saëns Background Charles-Camille Saint-Saëns (1835 – 1921) was, by all means, in particular, a famous French composer, brilliant organist, and significant musical mastermind of the Romantic era. Indeed, his most famous compositions, in the long run, including his Piano Concerto No. 2 (1868), Cello Concerto No. 1 (1872), and the Danse macabre (1874). Notwithstanding, we must also add Violin Concerto No. 3 (1880), Symphony No. 3 (the Organ Symphony, 1886), it must be remembered, Carnival of the Animals (1886) to the list. Childhood It is important to realize that Saint-Saëns was certainly, in fact, a child musical prodigy. Consequently, with this in mind, he made his concert debut albeit at ten years old. Another key point to remember is that he expressly studied at the Paris Conservatoire, then in spite of reality conversely followed a traditional career path as a church organist. Nevertheless, twenty years later, on the other hand, he left to become a successful freelance pianist and composer despite, as has been noted, his former employment situation. Furthermore, his performances were after all markedly in demand - not only in Europe but above all in the Americas all in all as well. Youth A point often overlooked is that in his youth, Saint-Saëns was certainly excited about the modern music of the day. He was in essence fond of the music of his contemporaries, in particular, Schumann, Liszt, and for the most part Wagner. In contrast, however, his own compositions seemed in fact largely confined within the conservative classical tradition. Be that as it may, he was at the same time nevertheless, in fact, a scholar of musical history. Criticism On the whole, his conservatism in fact ultimately brought him into frequent conflict in his later years with composers of the impressionist and in particular the dodecaphonic schools of musical thought.  A point often overlooked is that he included neoclassical elements in his music contrary to some critics. Furthermore, in so doing he provided the most compelling evidence that he predicted the techniques and works by Stravinsky and Les Six. To put it another way, given these points, he was regarded, perhaps for the most part unfairly so, as a non-progressive reactionary henceforth around the time of his passing. Legacy To sum up, Saint-Saëns taught for a short time in Paris, where his students included namely Gabriel Fauré. To clarify, Maurice Ravel later studied with Fauré. In conclusion, both Ravel and Fauré were powerfully influenced by Saint-Saëns, whom they respected as a musical mastermind.
