Piano Quintet Cello,Piano,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.945599 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Tony Matthews. Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. 84 pages. Archway Publications #6354529. Published by Archway Publications (A0.945599). This Fantasia (or Fantasy) for piano, vocal soloists, chorus, and orchestra, Op. 80, was composed in 1808 by a 38 year old Beethoven. The Fantasia was hastily written to serve as the grand finale for a (personal) benefit concert on the 22nd December 1808 which included premiers of his 5th and 6th symphonies, the 4th Piano concerto and the Mass in C. Beethoven took the opportunity to use the forces available to make this comparatively short piece for piano, orchestra, and a choral finale where he, the soloist, could showoff just how good he was.Sadly, this work is seldom performed because who wants to hire a choir for just 2 minutes of music and an orchestra for not that much longer. This quintet version addresses this by allowing a much smaller ensemble to enjoy performing this utterly delightful work. The piano part is basically what Beethoven wrote, however it has been suitably modified in places to allow the piano to fit into the overall ensemble.

Piano Accompaniment, Trombone - Advanced - Digital Download Composed by Antonio J. Garcia. 21st Century, Jazz, Blues, Swing, Funk Jazz. Score, Solo Part. 14 pages. Published by Cherry Classics Music
Virginia Commonwealth University Professor Antonio J. García has taken Haydn’s “London” Symphony as a point of departure for his London Town Fantasy for trombone and orchestra (or piano accompaniment), commissioned by the Charlottesville Symphony Society for the Charlottesville & University Symphony Orchestra (Virginia). CUSO Music Director Kate Tamarkin sought a piece that would “showcase the trombone in a jazz ballad style and somehow reference the Haydn ‘London’ Symphony” that would follow it on the program, knowing that the first half of the concert would also include the Brahms “Variations on a Theme of Joseph Haydn.” She and trombone soloist Nathan Dishman suggested the title “London Town Fantasy,” envisioning a potential intersection with elements of George Gershwin’s “A Foggy Day (In London Town),” which seemed apt given a scheduled trip of García’s to London during the compositional process.<br> <br> Listeners familiar with Haydn's “London” Symphony No. 104" will notice references starting at the first measure. And the violin part at the outset of the Symphony’s fourth movement, Allegro Spiritoso, offered the core of what became the melody to this Fantasy. The melody of the “bridge” section of the tune is crafted from the first seven measures of the opening theme of Haydn’s first movement (Allegro).<br> <br> The use of “A Foggy Day” had to be more subtle, as copyright law must be observed, limiting the use of its actual melody within this piece. But Gershwin’s harmony actually is the harmonic basis under the melody of the Fantasy; and his devotees will recognize that when the soloist improvises medium-swing jazz with the orchestra, the chord progression is indeed entirely that of “A Foggy Day.” (An optional written-out solo is provided.)<br> <br> Note that the string section is not asked to play swing eighth-notes at any time. Their jazz-phrased passages are couched in even-eighth, syncopated double-timed-sixteenth, and triplet-eighth cross-rhythmed lines well-rooted in the jazz tradition. Winds and brass, however, have swing-eighth passages to perform (and some even-sixteenth lines).<br> <br> The superb piano reduction makes the six-minute London Town Fantasy ideal for performances on student and professional recitals, and no improvisational skills are needed by the pianist. Available MIDI demonstration recordings of the duo and orchestral settings, with MIDI soloist or “minus one,” make rehearsals easy and even provide the aural basis for your own potential “virtual” performance.

Alto Saxophone,Piano - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.533508 Composed by Ali Ben Sou Alle. Concert,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 35 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3002551. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533508). This fantasy uses motifs from Donizetti's opera. After the opening which uses motives from the Overture, the main melody of the famous Sextet is presented. The tenor aria from the last act is presented with several vrariations. Finally, motifs form the fmaous mad scene end the work in a brilliant valse. One of the most enigmatic figures in the history of the Saxophone, Ali Ben Sou Alle (Charles-Valentin Soualle) was born in 1820 in Arras, France. After receiving his first prize in Clarinet at the Paris Conservatory in 1844. he served as the director of music of The French Marine Band in Senegal, and then was named first clarinet solo at the Opéra-Comique in Paris. However, after the Revolution of 1848, Soualle was forced to flee France to England where he settled in London, playing in the Orchestra of the Queen's Theatre. His songs and piano pieces were published in London. While in London, Soualle met another exiled French musician, Louis Antoine Jullien, who conducted a light music series in London. Jullien encouraged Soualle to take up the saxophone, and after modifying the instrument by adding a single octave mechanism (the modern system used today) and keys for the lower register, Soualle became known as a virtuoso and began touring performing solo recitals (or mono-concerts, as they were called at the time) calling his modified saxophone the «turcophone ». He performed in all the European capitals and then traveled to Australia, New Zealand, Manilla, Java, through China and then to India where he finally settled in Mysore, becoming the director of the Royal Music for the Maharadjah. It was during this period that heconverted to Islam and changed his nmae to Ali ben Sou Alle (or Ali, son of Soualle). He subsequently travaled to Ile Maurice, to French Polynesia, the Cap of Natal and the Cap of Good Hope. All of these voyages were subjects of musical works which Soualle entitled Souvenirs de... and may perhaps have been part of a collection known as The Royal Album which was presented to the Prince of Wales after a royal concert. Soualle returned to Mysore in 1858 and was almost killed in the Indian Revolution. Around 1860, Soualle returned to France for health reasons and began publishing his own music. OnMarch 27 1865, he performed a command performance for the Emperor Napoleon III at the Tuileries Palace in the presence of the entire Imperial Family. After 1865, nothing more is known about him.

Flute,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.735875 Composed by Andrew Middleton. Contemporary,Folk. Score and part. 18 pages. Andrew Middleton #5774079. Published by Andrew Middleton (A0.735875). This fantasy for flute and piano is based on a Theme and Variation. However, unlike a traditional theme and variation, the theme used here, (which is based on a folk song The Cliffs of Old Tynemouth from the North East of England), is heard in it’s entirety at the very end of the piece. As each variation is heard more and more of the original melody is revealed and subsequently disguised until the final section of the music when the melody can be heard. The piece is rather like a musical metaphor for the eroding of the cliffs by the sea; as the constant ebb and flow of the sea (represented by the constant piano accompaniment) erodes the rock, the hidden secrets of the melody become more and more exposed until the melody is revealed.

However, as with many ideas that I pursue, the music developed a life of its own apart from the original vision of the piece. This movement then became a “fantasy” with an over-the-top technical flare that was as much a visual display as virtuosic orchestration of dynamic elements of the music. Listen to an expert from the recording that Martin Jones recently made of this piece. williamneil.net thecomposerstudio.com.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1031550 Composed by Andrew Kierszenbaum. 20th Century,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score. 12 pages. Andrew Kierszenbaum #3447521. Published by Andrew Kierszenbaum (A0.1031550). My first score of 2018! It lasts about 6 minutes and is of about intermediate/advanced difficulty. It is the result of many hours, drafts, ideas, scribbles, and edits, BUT- above all, it is a labor of love and I hope THAT shines through the music the most... For this piece, I was inspired by dances and fantasies of the romantic period, especially those by Chopin and Schumann. However, I believe the piece doesn't feel trapped in an imitation of the music of a specific era. It uses the romantic and classical traditions as baselines and, in my opinion, transcends them. A major work I was inspired by is the Polonaise-Fantasy by Chopin. I wanted to create a dreamy, ballade-like, somewhat freeform/improvised landscape of texture and feeling that explores the waltz form but also infuses some elements of sonata form and theme and variations.I would put the piece at an intermediate/advanced level, but would definitely recommend this to teachers and students alike (I have already given it to a few in my own circle). The fee for this piece goes directly to me, so I can continue following my passion by composing and teaching students the wonderful gift that is piano playing! Please enjoy, and I would love to hear what you think of this one!Sincerely,Andrew

There are also other instrumental versions of this piece including Flute and Clarinet Choirs.Midnight Carousel is in the deep rich key of D minor to aid to the After Dark mood and mystery The piece has two distinct ideas. After the introduction a Circus- type Waltz begins, when this is repeated it has a very haunting counter melody which is both lilting and lyrical. As the piece develops, an out of character playful Scherzo theme begins which adds some intensity and mystery surrounding the Midnight Carousel. Both Waltz and Scherzo themes exchange dialogue throughout this section as if wanting some sort of control, when suddenly two accents appear to signify a halt We then return to the opening theme once more to lead us to a finish. Before the conclusion however, the Scherzo theme re-instates it's ideas before the final bars! The whole score is on the youtube link for you to assess suitability- It has been set to intermediate level as the range is around 2 octaves with some parts less than this.Mainly Quarter and Eighth notes used throughout- therefore it would be appropriate for some early-intermediate players. It is around 3 mins 30 long Ideal for concerts, contests, productions, halloween, folklore/fantasy themes or simply something different to add to the repertoirePrice is for the score and parts.

3 Romances, Op. 94 for Oboe and Piano - Robert Schumann

Oboe,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1276462 Composed by Robert Schumann. Arranged by Zellev. 19th Century,Christmas,Classical,Romantic Period,Wedding. Score and part. 22 pages. Zellev Music #868187. Published by Zellev Music (A0.1276462). The Three Romances for Oboe and Piano, Op. 94 (German: Drei Romanzen) is a composition by Robert Schumann, his only composition for oboe. It was composed in December 1849. The work consists of three short pieces in A-B-A form, and it was written during what was speculated to be one of Schumann's manic episodes. An average full performance lasts roughly 12 minutes. The Romances were written in December 1849, one of the most productive years of Schumann's entire career. Previously that year, Schumann had written two other works for wind instruments and piano: the Adagio and Allegro, op. 70, for French Horn and piano, and the Fantasy Pieces for Clarinet and Piano, op. 73. According to Schumann himself, the pieces were written on December 7, 11, and 12th in Dresden., Unlike many other oboes, works at the time, the pieces were not the result of a commission by a prominent soloist of the day. Schumann gave the pieces to his wife Clara Schumann, whom he once described as his own right hand, as a Christmas present, calling them his hundredth opusculum. Schumann's mental health was quickly deteriorating during the time of the pieces' writing; shortly afterward, he moved from Dresden to Düsseldorf, where he was admitted to and eventually died in an asylum. On November 2, 1850, the pieces were first performed privately as a piano and violin piece with Clara Schumann on piano and François Schubert on violin. The works were first performed several years after Schumann's death, in 1863; the performances took place on January 24 and February 14 in the Gewandhaus, featuring Emilius Lund on oboe and Carl Reinecke on piano. The piece was dedicated to Wilhelm Joseph von Wasielewski. The original edition was published by N. Simrock. The publication date is unknown, but it is estimated to have been anywhere from December 1850 to February 1851. Nikolaus Simrock wrote a letter to Schumann on November 19, 1850, asking whether or not Schumann would agree if we were to print on the title page: 'for oboe and pianoforte' and on this with a violin 'for violin and pianoforte' and on the third 'for clarinet and pianoforte,' since it is not looked upon with favor when several instruments appear on the title page. However, Schumann denied the request, replying, If I had originally written the work for violin or clarinet, it would have become a completely different piece. I regret not being able to comply with your wishes, but I can do no other. Two copies of the original printing exist Schumann's copy and Wasielewski's dedication copy (both either in museums or private collections).Disobeying Schumann's wishes, Simrock published alternate violin and oboe parts in the first edition. In her compilation of Robert's works post-mortem, Clara only included the violin transcription, possibly due to her only playing the piece with violinists. There have been several recordings of the music, including a recent one along with other Schumann oboe works by Oboe Classics. The romances are now a standard part of the oboe repertoire and often considered the best piece of romantic repertoire for the oboe.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1323137 Composed by Dom Waldock. 21st Century,Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,Film/TV. Score. 2 pages. Dominic Waldock #911404. Published by Dominic Waldock (A0.1323137). DEATH for solo piano, by Dom Waldock. This piano piece is directly inspired by Terry Pratchett’s depiction of the character Death from his fantasy Discworld novels. He is portrayed visually in a similar way to many other personifications in literature: as a skeleton in a hood and cloak carrying a scythe. His personality, however, is more comical and he has a particular fascination with humanity. Within this composition we hear the introduction of Death with the sound of “funeral bellsâ€, replicated by long and slow notes low in the piano’s range. The harmony is dissonant and unnerving as the supernatural being strolls through his realm. The music soon takes a turn to a mid-register melody to represent the mortal world and the death of a loved one, embellished with high-pitched arpeggios to suggest the approach of something magical. Eventually Death’s chimes and the mortal being meet and their themes are intertwined, as the reaper leads them out of this world and into the next. They fade off into the distance and all we are left with is the lonesome ring of the funeral bells.

Published by Grant Horsley (A0.1466077). A Piano Backing Track is also available. The whole score is on the youtube link for you to assess suitability- It has been set to intermediate level as the range is around 2 octaves with some parts less than this. Bowing has been left to the performer.Mainly Quarter and Eighth notes used throughout- therefore it would be appropriate for some early-intermediate players. It is around 3 mins 30 long Ideal for concerts, contests, productions, halloween, folklore/fantasy themes or simply something different to add to the repertoirePrice is for the score and parts.

Violin and piano - intermediate - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q26248 Fantasy for Violin and Piano. Composed by Edward Mollenhauer. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Schott Music - Digital #Q26248. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q26248). Key: G major. There is not a great deal known about the violinist, teacher and composer Edward Mollenhauer (1827–1914) from Erfurt. However, two of his compositions virtually immortalized him: the fantasia The Infant Paganini as well as the somewhat more difficult sister work The Boy Paganini (Schott ED 21703). Both are played with great enthusiasm by young violinists all over the world. Both compositions present a sparkling display of beautiful melodies and brilliant idiomatic figurations which are effective without being too difficult.

Small Ensemble Clarinet,Flute,Viola - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.735584 Composed by Modest Mussgorksy. Arranged by Andrew Middleton. Romantic Period. Score and parts. 2 pages. Andrew Middleton #5019713. Published by Andrew Middleton (A0.735584). When Robert Schumann composed his Fantasy Op. 71 he used the unusual orchestration of flute, clarinet, harp and two violas. This arrangement has followed the same orchestration as Schumann, however, a celesta (which could be played on a piano if unavailable) has been included to add effect. This arrangement of The Seamstress is ideal for a more advance ensemble looking to build a repertoire of unusual instrumentation! For more updates on new arrangements follow my Facebook page on https://www.facebook.com/a.middletonmusic/ Or subscribe to my Youtube page at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCClIYqddA2wMpdaxSq3BKEw?view_as=subscriber

Guitar,Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1348493 Composed by Hugues Jocelyn Cano. 21st Century,Contemporary,Film/TV,Hip-Hop,R & B. Score. 14 pages. Www.westbeingpublishing.com #933272. Published by www.westbeingpublishing.com (A0.1348493). Age of Doom is an ensemble Hip-Hop describing the dynamic at play in the fantasy world of LilYpada. The court poet Voltaris urges all creatures to act before it's too late as the LilYpas dancing butterflies are facing the threat of extinction with the destructive OooAaas under the spell of Bat Faith. Time is running out as the Queen's cocoon is the only one left from this hatching season. Liya must get to it by sunrise after extensive Parcours where she will be tested. If by sunrise she makes allies, reaches the cocoon, and gets exposed to its inner limelight by singing to it she will grow wings and be able to go back home in better shape than she came in by saving LilYpada however if she fails it will be the end. The song exposes in rhymes the alarming situation juxtaposed by the common sense lyrical Firefly Messengers pledging for cooperation between all creatures including the OooAaas who after all are simply under a spell. Audio excerpt featuring singer-actor Mila Luna.

PANTOMANIA (an original Summer Pantomime)

Choral Choir (Mixed) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.999348 Composed by Dennis A. Westgate. Children,Christmas,Contemporary,Musical/Show,World. Octavo. 75 pages. Tyne Music #5884499. Published by Tyne Music (A0.999348). PANTOMANIA: A modern pantomime in the TYNE ONSTAGE series of family orientated musicals. We’re all familiar with the U.K.s traditional pantomime. An extravaganza of costume, song and comedy acting, always presented during the autumn & winter months, especially over the Christmas holiday period. They’re extremely popular in the U.K. and draw in big family audiences, indeed the finance generated, helps most theatres over the more leaner summer months. So I thought Why not write a ‘Pantomime for Summer’ and this is it!PANTOMANIA takes you on a journey into the mystical world of fairy tale and fantasy, where words on a page become real-life characters when our heroine, Victoria falls into a wishing well and on climbing out, finds herself in the ‘Children’s Section’ on a library bookshelf. We follow her as she moves from page to page trying to find a way back home, assisted by the ‘Scarecrow’ plus an odd assortment of picture book characters. A great fun-musical for all of the family with plenty laughs and a few screams along with foot-tapping songs. It can be performed by any mixed age group age from 12 - 60. Perfect for seat-filling by any school, college, youth theatre or dramatic society.Note: Of course it could also be performed in the Winter and would be a great way to end the Autumn Term! This album includes the Piano & Vocal Score along with the full Libretto. For full information please see my website:- https://www.tynemusic.com/pantomaniaP.S. Owing to the high cost in orchestration The music is only available as a piano score with lyrics and chords. However this is reflected in the price. You would have to add your own instrumentation, but this would be an excellent opportunity for any up and coming student arranger to add to their C.V.
