Zellev Music #868187. Published by Zellev Music (A0.1276462). The Three Romances for Oboe and Piano, Op. 94 (German: Drei Romanzen) is a composition by Robert Schumann, his only composition for oboe. It was composed in December 1849. The work consists of three short pieces in A-B-A form, and it was written during what was speculated to be one of Schumann's manic episodes.An average full performance lasts roughly 12 minutes.The Romances were written in December 1849, one of the most productive years of Schumann's entire career. Previously that year, Schumann had written two other works for wind instruments and piano: the Adagio and Allegro, op. 70, for French Horn and piano, and the Fantasy Pieces for Clarinet and Piano, op. 73. According to Schumann himself, the pieces were written on December 7, 11, and 12th in Dresden., Unlike many other oboes, works at the time, the pieces were not the result of a commission by a prominent soloist of the day. Schumann gave the pieces to his wife Clara Schumann, whom he once described as his own right hand, as a Christmas present, calling them his hundredth opusculum. Schumann's mental health was quickly deteriorating during the time of the pieces' writing; shortly afterward, he moved from Dresden to Düsseldorf, where he was admitted to and eventually died in an asylum.On November 2, 1850, the pieces were first performed privately as a piano and violin piece with Clara Schumann on piano and François Schubert on violin. The works were first performed several years after Schumann's death, in 1863; the performances took place on January 24 and February 14 in the Gewandhaus, featuring Emilius Lund on oboe and Carl Reinecke on piano.The piece was dedicated to Wilhelm Joseph von Wasielewski. The original edition was published by N. Simrock. The publication date is unknown, but it is estimated to have been anywhere from December 1850 to February 1851. Nikolaus Simrock wrote a letter to Schumann on November 19, 1850, asking whether or not Schumann would agree if we were to print on the title page: 'for oboe and pianoforte' and on this with a violin 'for violin and pianoforte' and on the third 'for clarinet and pianoforte,' since it is not looked upon with favor when several instruments appear on the title page. However, Schumann denied the request, replying, If I had originally written the work for violin or clarinet, it would have become a completely different piece. I regret not being able to comply with your wishes, but I can do no other. Two copies of the original printing exist Schumann's copy and Wasielewski's dedication copy (both either in museums or private collections).Disobeying Schumann's wishes, Simrock published alternate violin and oboe parts in the first edition. In her compilation of Robert's works post-mortem, Clara only included the violin transcription, possibly due to her only playing the piece with violinists. There have been several recordings of the music, including a recent one along with other Schumann oboe works by Oboe Classics. The romances are now a standard part of the oboe repertoire and often considered the best piece of romantic repertoire for the oboe.

Gounod's Three Romances Without Words arranged by Ralph Sauer are taken from a group of five similarly named Romances Without Words originally composed for Piano solo between 1861 and 1866. Four of them were later arranged for Violin and Piano. The three movements are titled: 1. The Periwinkle (La Pervenche) 2. The Brook (Le Ruisseau) 3. The Evening (Le Soir) The three movements (all in bass clef) are very lyrical, about 8 minutes in length, and are perfect for intermediate and higher level performers to begin to learn the finer points of phrasing. The highest note is G above middle C.

La collection ANACROUSE offre aux pianistes novices et confirmés un large choix d’œuvres classiques, allant de la Renaissance à l’époque moderne.<br><br>Proposer tout à la fois des « incontournables » du répertoire classique et des pièces de compositeurs parfois oubliés, toutes d’une valeur pédagogique indéniable, tels sont les objectifs que nous nous sommes fixés. Chaque pièce, vendue à l’unité, a fait l’objet d’un travail éditorial attentif, tant sur le plan de l’établissement du texte musical que de sa gravure, afin de garantir aux musiciens les conditions indispensables aux plaisirs tirés du commerce fréquent de ces œuvres.<br><br>Les partitions sont proposées sous la forme d’ouvrages traditionnels (feuillets papier), et disponibles également par téléchargement.<br><br><br><br>Les célèbres romances sans paroles (Lieder ohne worte) de Felix Mendelssohn sont des pièces raffinées, mélancoliques et brèves pour piano. Ses Quarante huit romances réparties dans huit cahiers sont créées au fil de sa vie dans les moments rares de solitude. Elles sont les reflets d’une page d’album sentimental de son quotidien. Six des huit cahiers sont publiés à partir de 1832 en huit fascicules par les soins du compositeur, chez l’éditeur londonien Novello. Les deux dernières paraîtront après sa mort. Quelques unes ont une appellation comme Morceau pour enfants, Marche funèbre, Chant du gondolier vénitien, Chant du printemps, Chant du dévidoir, Chant populaire, Chant du chasseur. L'opus 30 est dédié à Elise Von Woringen. Il est le deuxième recueil de romances sans paroles. Il comprend six petits morceaux très poétiques comme dans l'opus 19, représentant le premier cahier, qui est l'un des plus connus. Composé entre 1833 et 1834 à Dusseldörf, ce deuxième cahier est édité à Paris en 1835 chez Mori et Lavenu. La parution des six autres romances de Mendelssohn a reçu un très bon accueil en Allemagne par ses contemporains, ce qui a suggéré à Schumann d'écrire une très belle critique dans son journal, la Neue Zeitschrift für Musik : « Qui ne s'est jamais assis au crépuscule devant un piano droit ( un piano à queue ferait trop cérémonieux) et n'a chanté inconsciemment, en pleine improvisation, une douce mélodie ? Si l'on peut par hasard lier aux deux mains l'accompagnement et la mélodie, et surtout si l'on est un Mendelssohn, alors naissent les plus belles romances sans paroles ... C'est limpides comme le soleil qu'elles se présentent à nos regards ». La Romance sans parole n°12 « Allegretto Tranquillo » est intitulée aussi Barcarolle. Son écriture pianistique nous amène toujours à vouloir chanter le thème principal qui est proche de l'écriture du lieder. Sa structure formelle est elle même composée comme un lied : ABA. Elle se distingue par un chant très pur d'une grande expressivité ce qui nous évoque l'idée d'un air de gondolier vénitien. A 6/8, en tonalité de fa dièse mineur, la mélodie flotte sur un rythme ternaire qui donne un effet de tourbillon langoureux par l'utilisation d'innombrables ornementations vocales. Cette romance achève le recueil, mais finalement nous ouvre les portes de notre imaginaire où l'on peut entrevoir une libre promenade sur les eaux. Partition + Biographie + Notes sur l'oeuvre
