Chief characteristics are its oval design and integrated, usually conical tubing. Kuhlo horns commonly are featuring a conical tuning slide, at the second curved pipe section after the rotary valves. This unique Brass Quintet arrangement exploits the rich deep tones of the horn. Feel free to use a regular flugelhorn or Bb trumpet for the part if you don't have a Kuhlo horn.

Arranged standard wind quintetThe Four Pieces for Piano (German: Klavierstücke) Op. 119, are four character pieces for piano composed by Johannes Brahms in 1893. The collection is the last composition for solo piano by Brahms. Together with the six pieces from Op. 118, Op. 119 was premiered in London in January 1894.This is my arrangement of the 3rd piece ,an Intermezzo in C major.The length of the phrase is twelve bars, subdividing into two six-bar sections. The first six bars can certainly be heard as two three-bar units whereas the second six-bar section can rather be perceived as three times two bars. The second six-bar sub-phrase functions rhythmically as a giant hemiola.This rhythmic gracefulness is opposed by the middle section of the piece. Two eight-bar phrases, subdividing into four-bar units, try to ‘correct’ the twelve-bar phrasing.It is arguable that this piece is in binary form and the B section begins at bar 49 where new material appears.Arranged wind quintet. The piece is about 12 minutes in total duration. Here is a brief description of the piece: Movement 1 (Fragments) introduces the sound world of this piece, and features different sounds 'bouncing around' each other to create different melodies and harmonies. Movement 2 (Breakdown) is an exciting rhythmic movement, where all four horns play their independent lines, which join together to create a somewhat 'groovy' melody. This movement is short, entertaining, and would also be a great encore piece on its own. Movement 3 (Reflection) portrays a more relaxed mood, where timing is much more free, and the listener is drawn along through the shifting harmonies by each note in the musical line. It then transforms into a 'floating' section, and segues into the next movement. Movement 4 (Interlude and Finale) revisits the original 'bouncing sounds' idea, progresses to another rhythmically intricate 'groovy' motive, and finally reaches a stable, sonorous melody that showcases the brilliance and majestic sound of all four horns together, giving a satisfying close to this unique work.

Theme in Bb major, and two other sections in G minor and Bb mnor. The end of each minor section is noted Maggiore D.C. Rosamunde, Fürstin von Zypern (Rosamunde, Princess of Cyprus) is a play by Helmina von Chézy, which is primarily remembered for the incidental music which Franz Schubert composed for it. Music and play premiered in Vienna's Theater an der Wien on 20 December 1823 There are 10 pieces of incidental music, this is no 5. Entr'acte No. 3 in Bâ™ major (Andantino) is one of the two best-known pieces in the score. The main theme was used again in the Impromptu in Bâ™, Op. 142 (D 935), No. 3. Schubert used an almost identical theme in the second movement of his String Quartet in A minor, D 804. Published by Lyons Music Services (A0.767345). This is my second Horn Sonata for unaccompanied horn. Like the first, it has 3 movements, each of which can be played on their own. 1st. Movement: Andante piacere The music of the first section is based on the opening idea. The descending glissandos and the repeated note figures should be taken in a leisurely way, a piacere, rather than in totally strict time. In bar 10, the flz should appear out of the tied note, without a fresh tongue. From letter A, the music is based on the repeated note patterns which are gradually developed and metamorphosed into new shapes in a gradual process. At letter B, a second motif is added which is more expressive and dynamically diverse. The development of this idea reaches a climax at the rall before letter C, from where this idea becomes more frenetic and agitated until it 'tires itself out' in the pauses before letter D. Here the original repeated note motif reappears to provide a basic ternary shape as the original ideas, changed by the development process are re-stated in their new forms. The closing pauses should be played as marked, with comma breaks, but not between the two notes in the penultimate bar. 2nd Movement: Adagio This movement is slow and wistful, atmospheric and drifting. Each phrase should be given its own space. Each individual motif has its own rises and falls and these should be tastefully exaggerated to give them as much definition as possible. 3rd. Movement: Allegro vivace This movement is intended to be flashy and full of life. The 7/8 time signature gives it plenty of off-beat vivacity. Players will need to make sure they know what the pulse is as it shifts from 2+2+3 to 2+3+2 and 3+2+2. Much of the material (motifs) are related to the music of the first two movements so this rousing finale will brig a sense of completeness to the performance of the sonata, though it can, of course, be played as a separate piece in its own right. This movement is both enjoyable and challenging, requiring a good technique and counting skills. The subtle shifts to 6/8 and 5/8 - and even 3/4 time need to be treated with care.

Published by Phil Beaman (A0.845328). In 1897 the great Polish composer Zygmund Noskowski composed four characteristic pieces for piano, each piece evoking a different spring flower. This duet between an Instrumental Solo and piano is my arrangement of Rose from Fleurs du Printemps, Op 48 (Rose, from Flowers of Spring).It is expressive, portraying the beauty of the Rose. I have added considerable markings of articulation and dynamics and phrasing to bring out this expressiveness. I have also changed the tempos to create more emotional variety between the thematic sections and I wrote a new ending with an Instrumental cadenza. The solo instrument plays the various melodic themes while I created a new piano part based on the original chords. The melody contains many accidentals as is typical in the Romantic period. Accessible for the average player yet with enough markings and nuances to satisfy expert players with the results. Definitely a concert or audition piece to show musicianship. Also well suited for Wedding music. Solo range - nearly 2 octaves (14th)5 page score, 2 page part2:35 minutes
