On the album, it was part one of The Afternoon track titled Forever Afternoon (Tuesday?). Justin Hayward said that he wrote the song on a Tuesday afternoon in Lypiatt Park, in western England near Stroud. Hayward's mother had taken him and his brother to the park while they were growing up, and he revisited the park during the production of Days of Future Passed to write the song.

Returning to Little Lea, Jack imagines the world of fairies and dwarves, a world beyond our own. He returns to school in England and comes under the influence of a variety of teachers. Expelled from Malvern, Jack next falls under the influence of his great mentor, Professor Kirkpatrick – the model for the Professor of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Jack’s Journey concludes with the anticipated arrival of a great hero, the hero of the first of the Narnian Chronicles, Aslan, the lion. ‘Jack’s Journey’ gives opportunity for young actors, (supported if desired by adults, taking the parts of the grown-ups.) There are short dramatic scenes, plenty of chorus work, opportunity for choreography and many solo spots for vocalists in the songs which are milestones in the story. Personent hodie is a Christmas carol originally published in the 1582 Finnish song book Piae Cantiones, a volume of 74 Medieval songs with Latin texts collected by Jacobus Finno (Jaakko Suomalainen), a Swedish Lutheran cleric, and published by T.P. The carol became more prominent in England after being arranged for unison voices and orchestra in 1916 by Gustav Holst (1874–1934), where in its organ reduction it is often used as a processional hymn in church and cathedral services. It is difficult to imagine any creative act of 2020 that is not in some way influenced by the tragedy of the COVID-19 pandemic. Having been invited to write a piece for the wonderful violinists Susan Collins and Doreen Cummings, the piece had its genesis in terrible news that I received the night before I began to compose it - the news that a close friend had lost a cousin to the virus in Italy, and that both of his parents, living in England, were also infected. Within days, his father succumbed to the illness, and this piece is a memorial to those have died, and an offering to the millions who left behind.

Text is from The Shewings of Julian of Norwich, Part I LXXXIII lines 3362-3364:  “Thus I saw and understode that our feith is oure light in our night, which light is God, our endless day.†The soundtrack of night sounds changing to dawn reflects the message of hope in Julian’s text. Beginning with the sounds of dusk, the whispered words blend with insect sounds. The modal aleatoric passages create an atmosphere of echoing bells as voices overlap. As night passes into day, the modality changes and the insect night sounds shift to the dawn chorus of birds. Born in about 1343 in Norwich, England, Julian survived the Black Plague as a girl of six. She became an anchoress at St. Julian’s Church in Norwich where she lived in prayerful seclusion. In 1373, she became very sick at age 30. When Julian was near the point of death, a curate showed her a crucifix for comfort. She then experienced a series of intense visions of Christ and recovered from her illness to write eloquently about her “shewings.†Her beautiful Medieval English words reassure us with the hope that our faith in God is our light in times of trouble. A prayer of adoration, it was written by Anglican priest, hymnodist and hymnologist John Ellerton (1826-1893) and first published in the Nantwich (Cheshire, England) Festival Book, 1880, included in the Westminster Abbey Hymn Book in 1883, and re-published in numerous other hymnals.
