Chamber Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.869356 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Baroque,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 113 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #15879. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869356). Instrumentation: 1 flute, 1 oboe, 1 English horn, 2 bassoons, 2 French horns, timpani and strings.Program note: In the year 2010, my wife Kristin Beckwith and I went to Paris twice, the first time in May and the second time in December right after Christmas. The weather was magnificent in May. Our friends Seph and Roger met us there. Being long-time veterans of Paris, they took us all over the city: Le Marais, the Left Bank, Montmartre, Sacré Coeur, Père LaChaise cemetery, Avenue des Champs-Élysées, Jardin du Luxembourg, Jardin des Tuileries, Notre Dame cathedral, Eiffel Tower, the flea market at Porte de Clignancourt, the canal at Saint Martin, etc. Since the weather was so great we basically stayed outside the entire two weeks. My wife Kris said that we had to return next again to Paris to go inside the museums. So we did. The weather in Paris after Christmas was very damp and chilly. So we did indoor activities: Le Louvre, Musée D’Orsay, Palais Garnier, etc. We even attended a beautiful performance of Swan Lake by the Paris Opera Ballet at L’Opéra Bastille. I should also mention that on both occasions I met up with a former student of mine from Berklee, Joe Makholm. He makes a living in Paris playing jazz piano. Joe got us a gig at the Swan Bar in Montparnasse. On the first occasion we did it as a trio with a French bass player. I played flute. On the second occasion, we did it as a duo. Playing jazz in Paris? You can’t beat that!!! Early this year, Steven Lipsitt and I had a chat about my writing a new work for the Boston Classical Orchestra. My last work for the BCO was a piano concerto with Robert Levin as soloist. I told Steven that this time I wanted to write a symphony. He said, Sure. Go ahead. I told him it would be about Paris. He said he would put Mozart’s Paris Symphony on the same program. I said, Fabulous! Symphony No. 8 … City of Light (2011) is in five movements. 1. La Seine Presto, Moderato 2. Basilique du Sacré-Coeur Largo 3. Palais Garnier Allegro, Trio 4. Avenue des Champs-Élysées Allegro 5. Musée du Louvre Largo, Moderato This work is dedicated to my wife and muse, Kristin Beckwith. Instrumental Duet,Piano Cello,Flute,Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1007116 Composed by Trew Jacksom. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 29 pages. Trew Jackson #4795043. Published by Trew Jackson (A0.1007116). (Note: the price includes all three movements) This is a piece I composed what seems like many years ago. I was still learning music and hadn’t graduated yet from my second teacher which is why I think I take so much pride in this piece. I composed it ahead of my time (as all my other compositions to that point weren’t much of anything, save for my C Minor Waltz [also available on SMP Press for purchase]) and its still one I very much enjoy listening to. I composed this piece deaf so to speak, as I wrote it without having actually played it at all. This was genuine inspiration and took a long time to get it all down. I hope you enjoy playing this great trio.Check out my other works if you enjoy this one and spread the word and leave a review!

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.778341 Composed by PHILLIP BLISS. Arranged by Thomas R. Vozzella. Sacred. Octavo. 5 pages. Thomas R. Vozzella #4803003. Published by Thomas R. Vozzella (A0.778341). It is Well with My Soul whose words were written by Horatio G. Spafford. On November 22, 1873, this preacher and good friend of Mr. Bliss lost his four children in the depths of the Atlantic Ocean, as a result of a collision. Mr. Spafford had sent his wife and children ahead, promising to meet them in France, shortly. He wrote the verses in mid-Atlantic on his way over to join his bereaved wife. He asked Mr. Bliss to write the music for his verses. It was introduced publicly for the first time at a ministers' meeting in Chicago in November, 1876. One month later, it was well with Mr. Bliss's soul, as he was reunited with the Spafford children. From one of 46 booklets by Ed Reese in the Christian Hall of Fame series.

Bad Hombres Jumping Over my Wall While Yelling '¡Arriba!, ¡Arriba!'

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.596525 Composed by Juan MarÃa Solare. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary,Latin. Score. 7 pages. Juan Maria Solare #3621769. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596525). The piano piece Bad Hombres Jumping Over my Wall While Yelling '¡Arriba!, ¡Arriba!' was composed in Bremen, Germany, in August 2018, for the project 45miniatures by pianist Nick Phillips. The overall character of this piece responds vaguely to Nicholas Phillips' suggestion: playful/childish outbursts, in the form of heckler chords or bad hombre-like non-chord tones. The title depicts a surrealistic, clownesque, ridiculous situation; a dream for some and a nightmare for others. For those totally unaware: the expression Bad Hombres was used by president Donald Trump during the third 2016 United States Presidential Debate. While answering a question about his immigration policy, Donald Trump stated that there were a lot of drug lords in the United States and that they needed to be removed. He concluded his comment by saying we have some bad hombres here and we have to get them out. (thus implying that the responsible of US' drug problems are Latinos)Character and moods: happy, merry, mysterious. About the performance All the piece consists of mini clusters (two minor seconds). The notation can be sometimes obscure (due to the many unavoidable accidentals). To facilitate the reading (deciphering) of the score, the easiest is to follow the highest note of each cluster: they usually form a simple chord. For instance, bar 17 is (melodically speaking) a F7 chord. Got it? L = Left Hand R = Right Hand The verbal comments along the music are not meant to be actually read aloud, but alla mente (like in some Satie's music). However, if you want to recite them at concert, go ahead.Juan MarÃa Solare (http://www.JuanMariaSolare.com)

Phoebe Chen #4718415. Published by Phoebe Chen (A0.868115). This hymn was written after traumatic events in Spafford's life. The first was the death of his son at the age of two and the great Chicago fire of 1871, which ruined him financially (he had been a successful lawyer and had invested significantly in property in the area of Chicago that was extensively damaged by the great fire) His business interests were further hit by the economic downturn of 1873, at which time he had planned to travel to Europe with his family on the SS Ville Du Havre. in a late change of plan, he sent the family ahead while he was delayed on business concerning zoning problems following the Great Chicago fire. while cross the Atlantic Ocean, the ship sank rapidly after a collision with a sea vessel. and all four of Spafford's daughters died. His wife Anna survived and sent him the now famous telegram : saved aloneshortly afterwards, as Spattord traveled to meet his grieving wife, he was inspired to write these words as his ship passed near where his daughters had died.Bliss called his tune Ville du Havre, from the name of the stricken vessel.chicago .

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1043795 By Gordon Lightfoot. By Gordon Lightfoot. Arranged by Dean Gilbert. Folk. Score. 6 pages. Dean Gilbert #648473. Published by Dean Gilbert (A0.1043795). Forty-five years ago, on November 10, 1975 29 crew members lost their lives on the Edmund Fitzgerald sailing across Lake Superior. I took Gordon Lightfoot's beautiful song and turned it into my own piano arrangement. You will notice that the ship bell is heard throughout the song. This song is in six parts. The summon begins with the ship's bell ringing summoning everyone to gather for a story, Next is The Voyage Begins with a calm Lake Superior. The ship bell rings again announce heavy seas ahead and we are now into the next section called The Storm Begins. The bell continues to ring warning the crew of heavy waves. The next section is called The Gales of November. The intensity picks up. The bell rings with force calling for help. The next section is called The Sinking. You can hear the waves crashing into the ship as the bell continues to call for help. At the end the ship sinks as the bell continues to ring. There is one last ring as it settles on the bottom of Lake Superior. The last section is The Memorial. It is the stillness of the water after a storm with no sign of the Edmund Fitzgerald. The bell ring 29 times for each of the crew members. Enjoy.

I have drawn from my decades of experience as a pianist and teacher to deliver arrangements that are both practical and playable. I have refined these settings over the years to deliver the biggest impact for a wide variety of audiences. This beautiful hymn, with its soaring melody and adventurous harmonies, was well ahead of its time when it was written in 1900. Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.828227 Composed by John Hatton. Arranged by Paul Thurmond. 20th Century,Baroque,Christian,Sacred. Score. 7 pages. Paul Thurmond #4968929. Published by Paul Thurmond (A0.828227). Tune: DUKE STREETUse: Prelude, PostludeOne Sunday my church was singing Jesus Shall Reign Where’er the Sun as the opening hymn. It’s our tradition that the last stanza of a hymn is sung in unison, so that I as the organist can change the harmonization and keep things interesting. Sometimes I know ahead of time what I’m going to do, and sometimes I make it up on the spot.On this particular morning I planned on being spontaneous. (Can spontaneity be planned?) When we got to the final stanza, I threw on the 16′ pedal reed and went to town.I don’t know if this is the case for all musicians, but while I’m playing my brain is working on several different levels. Most of these are involved in actually playing the music, but there’s also a running commentary on how things are going. This commentary is usually really boring: It’s going okay. It’s going okay. It’s going okay. Sometimes the messages are more interesting: Uh-oh. She just dropped her mute. I missed that chord; remember to circle it when we’re done. My page turner appears to be on fire. So: We’re in the final stanza of Jesus Shall Reign Where’er the Sun. Big, majestic hymn. Over a hundred congregants and choir members are enthusiastically singing in unison. I’m leading them from the organ with an improvised accompaniment that involves all of my limbs. It’s fair to say that I was concentrating hard.Suddenly the commentary part of my brain breaks in: Dude, your feet are totally playing Canon in D. Cool!Canon in D is the most famous work of Johann Pachelbel, a German composer who preceded Bach by a few decades. It’s overused at weddings, but it’s actually a really good piece of music. The original is for three violins and a basso continuo part, which would usually have been played by harpsichord and cello. In this case, the basso continuo plays the same eight measures again and again throughout the piece. This technique of repetition is called a ground bass. While that’s going on, the violins play several different themes on top of it.When I was improvising that Sunday, my feet had accidentally wandered into that ground bass part, which happened to fit nicely with the melody we were singing. During the sermon (sorry Pastor!) I started going through the violin themes in my head, seeing if any of them could also match up with the hymn tune. Some of them worked and some didn’t. I decided to write a sort of theme and variations, where the hymn tune appears in various forms. Sometimes it’s played along with one of the violin themes, and sometimes a violin theme serves as an interlude on its own. And except for one passage, the left hand is always playing some version of the basso continuo theme. I also changed the meter from 4/4 to 3/4 to make it more interesting. It culminates in a climax worthy of a king. I hope you enjoy it.

Published by Wayne Howard Christensen III (A0.987122). My how time flies. In 1984 I had my whole life ahead of me. Then I graduated high school, went to the U.S.A.F. Academy, and served a 26 year career as an officer and a pilot in the U.S. Air Force active duty and reserves. Now I look back and wonder where all the time went. I wrote this song to depict how I feel about getting to play the piano again at the ripe old age of 49 after such a long absence. For 26 years I did not have a piano so I did not think about playing. Then my mother in law gave me her piano and it was like reuniting with a long lost friend. I am grateful for any opportunity I have to play now. It makes me feel like I am 18 years old again with my whole life ahead of me. But then I have to wake up from my dream and get back to reality. (2015 Steinway/SMP Piano Contest).

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1047338 By Blaze Scheuerman. By Blaze Scheuerman. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score. 10 pages. Blaze Scheuerman #651896. Published by Blaze Scheuerman (A0.1047338). The Doomsday Clock is a piece that primarily shows anxiety and being overwhelmed. I composed this piece my senior year of high school. At the time I could feel the impending deadline of college piano auditions approaching, and this coupled with a hand injury caused me to be very stressed out and feel that I was unable to put in the time needed to practice and prepare. I chose the name “Doomsday Clock†as I felt that the event that was slowly creeping closer was actually going to be the destruction of my dreams. The intro starts up bleak as the main character feels lost and afraid. The baseline hints at something to come that keeps inching closer and closer. Then at measure 8 it hits him, the thing to come is inevitable and can’t be stopped. He tries to reason with it, but it does not budge. This forces him to go into a mad scuffle in order to keep up and be ahead, as seen in measure 13. What then proceeds is a series of highs and lows, such as in measure 24 where the main character is terrified of what is to come and in measure 33 where he begins to believe he can do it. The piece then modulates to C major, where the main character feels that he is ahead and going to be successful. But every time he states a confident line, it seems to deteriorate or break down. Eventually he leads back into the mad scuffle and reaches his lowest point in measure 74. Here he feels lost and is about to give up when something encourages him to keep on going. It manifests a childlike voice reminding him of why he started this journey in the first place, and it convinces him to not give up and instead keep on going (seen in the Eb major section in the style of the intro). He eventually reaches the end and makes it, almost collapsing at the finish.

This fanfare was commissioned by Amanda Drinkwater, the director of bands at the time, to be a symbol of heart and identity for the organization – to be performed by the band while marching onto the field, as well as to promote a sense of comradery and unity among all members of the band. I was lucky enough to call Amanda Drinkwater one of my earliest mentors in music, and I will always be grateful for her encouragement and teaching, and for giving me this opportunity. Towards the end of my time in high school, I had gotten very serious about composition and trumpet performance, and was looking ahead to music as my future college major and career. That timing was serendipitous for each of us. Amanda conceived of this project that year, and, knowing of my passion for composing, graciously offered me the opportunity to compose the piece. For me, I was thrilled to accept the opportunity, and it meant a lot. I cherished my experiences in the Marcus Band, and I saw this as my chance to give something back. In that spirit, even though the piece is short, I put my heart into it. This commission was also my first professional engagement as a composer, and that was tremendously exciting.

Guitar,Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1335072 Composed by James R. Murray. Arranged by Connie Boss. Children,Christmas. Score. 4 pages. Connie Boss #920918. Published by Connie Boss (A0.1335072). I put a twist on Jolly Old Saint Nicholas. I added verses and a different melody along with the familiar melody of Jolly Old Saint Nicholas. This song starts off with a child waiting patiently in line to see Santa so he can tell him what he wishes for him to bring him for Christmas. I started off with my own original melody and lyrics and then in the middle of the song, when the child finally reaches Santa, I switch to the melody of Jolly Old Saint Nicholas. However, to modernize it, I switched to Jolly Old Dear Santa Claus. I kept verse one lyrics the same except for that part. I changed the lyrics entirely for the second verse. The child tells Santa where he can put the presents and hopes one is for him. He also tells him he tries to wait up for him each year, but Santa is so quiet, he sleeps through the night. The last verse is back to my original melody and lyrics where Santa tells him it will be a surprise what he brings him this year. This brings the song all the way from waiting in line to see Santa to sitting on his knee and Santa telling him it will be a surprise. Let me know if you have any questions or request at cdboss@cvalley.net.Lyrics:Here to see Santa Claus “Jolly Old St Nicholasâ€Â I’m here to see Santa Claus But, it’s a long, long line, With lot’s of kids ahead of me, It will take some time I have with me my Christmas listTo tell dear Santa what I wish Now my time is finally hereTo sit up on his kneeHe asked me what I want this yearSo I whisper in his ear Jolly old dear Santa Claus, lean your ear this wayDon’t you tell a single soul what I’m going to sayChristmas eve is coming soon, now you dear old manWhisper what you’ll bring to me – tell me if you can Down the chimney you will comeRight next to the tree,You can put the presents thereI hope there’s one for me You never make any noiseI wait for you each yearBut I sleep all through the nightSo I can’t catch you here Then he looked and smiled at me and whispered in my earIt will be a big surprise what I bring to you this year.

Cello Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1478153 By Diana Mascari. By Diana Mascari. Arranged by Diana Mascari. 20th Century,21st Century,Chamber,Classical,Jazz. Individual part. 12 pages. Diana Mascari Music #1055550. Published by Diana Mascari Music (A0.1478153). St. Peter's Suite for Solo Cello was commissioned by cellist Myron Schwager. Dr. Schwager has been my music professor while I was an undergraduate. However, at the time he was on the faculty of Hartt College of Music in Hartford Connecticut. As a result, the premiere took place in Hartford in St.Peter's Catholic Church. Knowing this ahead of time, I found the hymn tune: ST PETER in my Presbyterian hymnal. (The words often used with this tune are In Christ There Is No East or West). In keeping with this hymn tune, I composed each movement using a section of the melody as a motive. This piece was very well received and has been performed subsequently.I composed St. Peter's Suite for Solo Cello in 2001 and its duration is 13 minutes. The four movements are:I. TangoII. LamentIII. SwingIV. Chorale and ChacconeFor further information visit www.dianamascari.com.

Published by James Pybus (A0.764637). La Waltz Triste is an original composition playable by Clarinet Quartet (3 B flats plus Bass Clarinet). Performance time is 3:10. As the title would suggest, it has a rather sad and melancholic feel. Several events in my personal life of a tragic nature which occurred during the year it was written (2014) have subconsciously contributed to this feeling, including in May 2014 the loss of a friend and colleague, followed in September by the loss of my father-in-law. An ongoing health issue which began in April prevented me from playing and performing to the best of my ability. Thankfully this issue has resolved itself; there is a ray of hope for the future. Not wanting to wallow in self-pity, I look forward to more cheerful days ahead. Contact me at james.pybus56@gmail.com.

Euphonium - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.489190 Composed by Matthew Nunes. Classical,Contemporary. 86 pages. Matthew Nunes Music #105703. Published by Matthew Nunes Music (A0.489190). Listen to this piece hereBeacons is a four movement work for euphonium quartet begun during the final year of my undergraduate degree and completed during my first semester of graduate school. In this work are a multitude of emotions I was living or struggling with during a period where life never went as expected. The first movement, Glimmer, represents an individual seeing a faint light in the darkness unsure of what it truly is or how long the path to it will take. Regardless, they move towards it while reflecting on the possibilities of what awaits them. In the second movement, Beacon Bacchanal, the surety of reaching this goal has seduced this person into a doomed revelry of overconfidence. The celebration spirals out of control into Aura Awry where time churns on and inner demons surface. In the final movement, Shine, this individual finds themselves standing at the edge of the light. They do not know where it comes from or what lies ahead once they cross this threshold. Regardless, they step forth….

Instrumental Duet,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.933339 Composed by Juan Carlos Guerra Gonzalez. Contemporary. 67 pages. Juan Carlos Guerra Gonzalez #6513575. Published by Juan Carlos Guerra Gonzalez (A0.933339). HealingHealing is a Suite for Violin and Piano that includes four movements. In 2020, when the quarantine caused by COVID-19 started in New York City, I had to start remote lessons with all my students. The mother of one of them, a doctor facing the hard times ahead of us told me: We need music in our lives now more than ever. We need to heal! Her words keep resonating with me, I wish I could help in some way and my natural instinct was to make this work. The work started as a single piece, but then I realized I had enough material for 3 movements more. The movements are named as follows:I. HealingII. AwaitingIII. MourningIV. RestoringHealing had its World Premiere in Costa Rica thanks to Dr. Rebeca Ordóñez (to whom the work is kindly dedicated) and Lic. Johan ChapellÃn. The music reflects my personal journey through the quarantine caused by the pandemic of COVID-19. A Journey of hope that, for now, we still need to get through. The music is also a thank you card to all essential workers, especially those in the arts. Whose work and enthusiasm has made this quarantine a lot more bearable. The first movement of Healing is also available on its own: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/healing-first-movement-digital-sheet-music/21785198The video provided was the streaming from the World Premiere made by Jacaranda Duet in Costa Rica.

Gonna Fly Now was nominated for Best Original Song at the 49th Academy Awards. The version of the song from the movie, performed by Conti with an orchestra, hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1977, while a version by jazz trumpeter Maynard Ferguson had a 13-week run chart, eventually peaking at number 28 on June 25. While Ferguson was known to have an uncanny ability to change with the times, no one suspected that in the Spring of 1977, he would pull off the coup of his life. As AllMusic reviewer Richard Ginell put it: Maynard was shrewd, and Maynard was quick, and he managed to beat almost everyone to the punch... It had been decades since a big band recording had made the charts, but when he released his recording ahead of the soundtrack version, Ferguson scored the biggest hit of his long career. Piano Solo - Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683-1764). Arranged by Trancribed by Flavio Regis Cunha. Baroque Period, Early Music, Wedding, Graduation, Recital. Score. 12 pages. Published by Flavio Regis Cunha
Les Boréades is a tragédie lyrique mise en musique, or a lyric tragedy put into music, a type of opera, in five acts by Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683-1764). It is the last of his five such works. The libretto, attributed to Louis de Cahusac (1706?1759), is loosely based on the Greek legend of Abaris the Hyperborean and includes Masonic elements; the Boréades are the descendants of Boréas. 'The Arts and The Hours' interlude from Rameau?s final opera, ?Les Boréades?, written in 1763 when Rameau was 80. Ólafsson transcribed it for the modern piano because its colourful resonance allows for new and interesting textural possibilities in a piece that seems so ahead of its time: its rich harmonies of suspended 9ths and 11ths one could almost imagine Mahler writing in the late 19th century. In the original opera, based on a Greek legend, the interlude bears a somewhat lengthy title: ?The Arrival of the Muses, Zephyrs, Seasons, Hours and the Arts.? As all these mythical beings summoned to the stage have something to do with the arts and with time?s passing, Ólafsson allowed himself to call my transcription simply ?The Arts and the Hours?, with a nod to the Greek aphorism best known in its Latin version as ?Ars longa, vita brevis?. Almost three centuries after his death, the legacy of his art is still growing, with works still being discovered, premiered and brought back from obscurity.
