String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1436452 By Billie Eilish. By Billie Eilish O'Connell and Finneas O'Connell. Arranged by Sarah Cellobat Chaffee. Contemporary,Pop. 23 pages. Sarah Cellobat Chaffee #1016565. Published by Sarah Cellobat Chaffee (A0.1436452). Released in 2019 as a single from Billie Eilish's debut album, Bad Guy soon became a worldwide hit and a commercial success. With its minimalist instrumentation and critics' comparisons to the music of Lorde and the White Stripes, it helped cement Eilish's status as a pop icon, and it ended up topping the charts in many countries and earning Eilish a Grammy award for Song of the Year. And thanks to a cover version in the Bridgerton soundtrack, it has now also become a popular request for strings! This Cellobat arrangement for your string quartet maintains the powerful driving beat, spooky layered harmonies, and catchy synth riffs of the original, for a chart that will be just as much fun to play as it is to listen to. Originally written for a wedding, this arrangement will also be perfect for receptions, cocktail hour, parties, solo and ensemble contest, or any other occasion you need to get your audience dancing. Rated intermediate; this will be playable for students and sightreadable for professionals. Sarah ?Cellobat? Chaffee is an in-demand acoustic and electric cellist and string arranger. Currently, she performs with legendary rock band Aerosmith in their ?Deuces Are Wild? residency show, and she is the principal cellist for the Raiders House Band, playing for a crowd of 60,000 at all of the team's home games. Contemporary. 18 pages. Spencer Bundy #6876049. Published by Spencer Bundy (A0.838067). This version for wind quintet is much more based on The Carpenters cover version rather than the Beatles original. It was included in the duo's debut album release from 1969. Initialy the album was called 'Offering' and sold badly. When the duo became better known it was rereleased with a new name 'Ticket to Ride' and new cover. At the time the album was recorded, singing lead was much more equally shared and the arrangements were much simpler than they were on later albums.

Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1262310 By The Carpenters. By John Bettis and Richard Carpenter. Arranged by Timothy Stapay. Film/TV,Pop,Rock,Singer/Songwriter,Standards. Score. 2 pages. Timothy Stapay #855346. Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.1262310). A piano solo arrangement of Yesterday Once More; made famous by The Carpenters. Yesterday Once More, written by Richard Carpenter and John Bettis, is a hit song by the Carpenters from their 1973 album Now & Then. Thematically the song concerns reminiscing about songs of a generation gone by. It segues into a long medley, consisting of eight covers of 1960s tunes incorporated into a faux oldies radio program. The work takes up the entire B-side of the album. The single version of the song peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, kept from the number 1 spot by Bad, Bad Leroy Brown by Jim Croce. It was the duo's fifth number two hit and makes them the act with the second-most number two hits on the chart behind Madonna. The song also peaked at number 1 on the easy listening chart, becoming their eighth number 1 on that chart in four years.  It is the Carpenters' biggest-selling record worldwide and their best-selling single in the UK, peaking at number 2 Richard Carpenter stated, on a Japanese documentary, that it was his favorite of all the songs that he had written. He has performed an instrumental version at concerts.Lyrics:[Verse 1]When I was young, I'd listen to the radioWaitin' for my favorite songsWhen they played, I'd sing alongIt made me smile[Pre-Chorus 1]Those were such happy timesAnd not so long agoHow I wondered where they'd goneBut they're back againJust like a long-lost friendAll the songs I loved so well[Chorus 1]Every sha-la-la-laEvery whoa, whoa-oh still shinesEvery shing-a-ling-a-lingThat they're starting to sing so fineWhen they get to the partWhere he's breaking her heartIt can really make me cryJust like before, it's yesterday once more(Shoobie-doo, lang, lang)(Shoobie-doo, lang, lang) [Verse 2]Lookin' back on how it was in years gone byAnd the good times that I hadMakes today seem rather sadSo much has changed[Pre-Chorus 2]It was songs of loveThat I would sing to themAnd I'd memorize each wordThose old melodiesStill sound so good to meAs they melt the years away[Chorus 2]Every sha-la-la-laEvery whoa, whoa-oh still shines(Only oldies, but goodies)Every shing-a-ling-a-lingThat they're starting to sing so fineAll my best memoriesCome back clearly to meSome can even make me cryJust like before, it's yesterday once more(Shoobie-doo, lang, lang) [Outro]Every sha-la-la-laEvery whoa, whoa-oh still shinesEvery shing-a-ling-a-lingThat they're starting to sing so fineEvery sha-la-la-laEvery whoa, whoa-oh still shinesEvery shing-a-ling-a-lingThat they're starting to sing so fine...

Arranged by Adam Overacker for String Love. 20th Century,Pop,Rock,Singer/Songwriter,Wedding. 21 pages. String Love #806388. Published by String Love (A0.1208286). String Quartet arrangement of You Are The Best Thing, the 2008 hit from Ray LaMontagne.  It's catchy and dancy and a perfect recessional song.  Arranged by Adam Overacker for String Love string quartet, this instant classic is Ray’s top song on Spotify with over 165,000,000 streams!  It’s been a constant on our playlists for preludes, cocktail hours, and ceremonies for many years.  It’s got a singable and recognizable melody, but it’s also got an infectious rhythm that is both fun to listen to and fun to play.  The song is from Ray’s album Gossip in the Grain, an album that Pop Matters calls the artist’s most cohesive, career-defining album to date.†Billboard also loved the album, saying While there's not a bad song in the bunch, once you've heard LaMontagne loosen up, you're left starving for more of it.†You Are The Best Thing has been covered by numerous artists and has appeared in movies and tv shows including I Love You, Man, Bad Moms, and American Idol.  If you’d like a version without chord changes or ossia’s just get a hold of us on our website, we’d be happy to provide that for you.  Same with violin 3 / viola tc. Contemporary,Film/TV,Pop,Rock,Video Game. 27 pages. Sarah Cellobat Chaffee #845047. Published by Sarah Cellobat Chaffee (A0.1250783). *INSTRUMENTATION: 4 CELLOS*Heartbreaker, one of the most iconic songs in female rock history, was released by Pat Benatar as a single from her debut album in 1978. Originally released by an English singer named Jenny Darren, Benatar's cover proved to be her breakthrough song; it topped the Billboard charts for nearly 5 weeks and was ultimately named one of VH1's 100 best hard rock songs of all time. It has since been featured in video games, movies, TV shows, movies, and has generally become a staple of pop culture -- and now you can rock out on it with your cello buddies! This Cellobat arrangement for cello quartet is just as hard-hitting as the original, with epic vocal lines, powerful harmonies, a driving rock beat, and even a fun guitar solo. I guarantee your group will have a blast! Rated advanced-intermediate for tenor/treble clef and basic thumb position in some of the parts; this will be learnable for students and easily sightreadable for professionals. Why choose Cellobat Charts arrangements? For any musician who knows what they're doing, the answer is easy: just listen to them. Every freelance musician has thrown hard-earned money away on questionable, error-filled charts by unknown arrangers from weird corners of the Internet. But watch out -- inferior arrangements not only make gigs less enjoyable to play, but they also make your group sound bad to your client and audience, no matter how great your players really are. That's why Cellobat Charts is here: to provide students and working string players alike with high-quality versions of highly requested music. My arrangements are guaranteed to be energetic, fun to play, and enjoyable to listen to, whether or not you're familiar with the original songs. Hear the difference for yourself! Full videos of many Cellobat Charts arrangements are available on YouTube so you know exactly what you're getting. Brass quintet - Digital Download SKU: IZ.CMS164 Composed by Edward Taylor Paull. Arranged by Judith Katz. Score and Parts. 24 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #CMS164. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.CMS164). 9 x 12 in inches. While doing some research on pre-20th Century American composers, I came across the name of Edward Taylor Paull. In all of my years as a flutist, conductor, and now writer, I never heard of Paull before, but I was curious enough to look for any sound files of his music, and came across both live piano performances and piano roll performances of the Ben HurChariot Race March on YouTube.Edward Taylor Paul, known in some circles as The Other March King was born on February 16th, 1858. In Gerrardstown, Virginia, now West Virginia. While not too much is known about his early years, we do know that his adult years were spent as itinerant musician, instrument sales person, selling pianos and organs, composer, as well as publisher. The Civil War era had Patrick Sarsfield Gillmore as the most famous bandleader and composer. As children of this era, John Philip Sousa and Edward Taylor Paull, were destined to follow in Gillmore's footsteps. While Sousa became successful through his work as both conductor and composer, even attaining the moniker of March King, the road to success and fame was more difficult for Paull. We do know, that by 1878, he was the manager of a music store that sold pianos and organs, eventually going bankrupt, and having to be bailed out by his own father. By 1894, he was the manager of the Richmond Music Publishing Company, and this was the same year that he was issued his first copyright on the Ben Hur Chariot Race March This was originally written for piano, particularly, the parlour piano. This was to become one of many marches and parlour piano compositions by 'E.T, Paull. He may not have been the most skilled musician of his era, but he was wise enough to realize how popular marches became in 1880's and '90's.Paull's compositions were also associated with beautiful color covers. He was fortunate to live in Richmond, Virginia, and the lithography company of A. Hoen & Company, provided him the highest quality and richly-colored art work for his compositions. This company was unique, in that they used a five- color process, which added depth to the color. Thepopularity of marches, plus the great covers, both contributed to the 60,000 copies that the Ben Hur Chariot Race March sold in its first printing. Not bad, for a first composition.Paull found inspiration for his march from the novel Ben Hur, written and published by General Lew Wallace in 1880. Paull dedicated his composition to Wallace, who sold many copies of his book. Eventually, there was a stage play and three film renditions; one in 1907, 1925, and 1959. Some time in the 1920's, the Sousa Band recorded the Ben Hur Chariot Race March, and of course, the MGM, 1925 film version, helped in a renewed popularity of Paull's composition.Edward Taylor Paull died in 1924, and his wife retained the copyright, until it went into public domain. What remains today are a few music examples in the Library of Congress collection, as well as some 78's and piano rolls. While I did my research on this piece, I tried to find any applicable Sousa manuscripts of a possible arrangement, but I could not findany. I usually write for woodwinds, but in this case, I thought that a brass quintet would sound far better. I also chose a moderate tempo, so as not to lose some of the nuances of the original composition.

Wagner Urtext Piano/Vocal Scores. Downloadable, Piano reduction. Duration 270' 0. Schott Music - Digital #Q17773. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q17773). German. An important addition to the newly produced orchestral materials by Schott Music is the fi rst publication of vocal scores of Richard Wagner’s ten great operas in every important version. For the first time, we are able to offer theatres and interested opera-lovers vocal scores as urtext editions conceived following uniform editorial criteria: * The score corresponds to the performance materials from the Complete Edition. * For practical use in rehearsal and study, every vocal score includes rehearsal cues and bar numbers throughout. * The publisher has secured the services of renowned musicologists associated with the Richard Wagner Complete Edition who convey detailed information in critical forewords. * The forewords are given in three languages (German, English, French). * Uniform and attractive front cover designs with reproductions of paintings from the Wagner era underline the series design of the edition. TRISTAN UND ISOLDE Performance directions by the singer Ludwig Schnorr von Carolsfeld are incorporated in the vocal score from the Complete Edition’s Tristan und Isolde volume. He entered these directions into his own copy of the Tristan part which he used at the 1865 Munich premiere. Richard Wagner was deeply impressed by his interpretation of the title role. For the first time in a vocal score of Tristan und Isolde all cuts are incorporated—with the corresponding transitional bars—which Wagner himself made, and approved, in two cases, were actually declared by him to be final. These cuts strikingly document Wagner’s struggle with the final form of the work. For the first time in a single edition all of Wagner’s own suggestions for ossias are found; ossias which evolved from performances under his own direction. Egon Voss writes about this in his foreword to the vocal score: “Such ‘pointers’, as you might say, were current practice in the 19th century which Wagner, as the example shows, did not evade. He was enough of a practical man of the theatre to know that a badly sung top note is worse than doing without it. Wagner even tolerated the transposition of lengthier passages because he was less concerned with the letter of the score than with theatrical effectiveness. [...] The present vocal score goes beyond the Complete Edition [...] in that the ossias mentioned above are indicated in the vocal part itself, in small notes. They concern principally the role of Tristan, but also those of Isolde, Brangäne and Kurwenal. They rest in part on the Tristan edition within the Complete Edition but for the greater part go back to a source which could not be consulted for the Complete Edition because it was not yet accessible. This relates to a vocal score from the estate of the composer Peter Cornelius who was engaged by Wagner as repetiteur at the Vienna rehearsals in 1861-63. That the ossia bars go back to Wagner can be taken as certain, since in some places they are notated in his own hand.†(Egon Voss, quoted from the foreword to the vocal score) The transpositions mentioned by Egon Voss—two by Hans von Bülow for the revival of the work which he conducted in Munich in 1869 and the third suggested by Wagner himself in 1861—are printed in the appendix to the vocal score. The ossias, transpositions, and cuts are available for practical use in the theatre and in rehearsal. The cuts are also incorporated into the orchestral materials for Tristan und Isolde. This is also the case with ossias which affect the orchestral parts.2013 marks Wagner’s bicentenary, making the year largely focused on his music, particularly the dramatic works. An important addition to the newly produced orchestral materials by Schott Music. The score corresponds to the performance materials from the Complete Edition. Schott Music have secured the services of renowned musicologists associated with the Richard Wagner Complete Edition who convey detailed information in critical forewords. I distinctly remember belting out the Nilsson version on a boat while on holiday with London City Voices choir, which led to it becoming one of my earliest arrangements, and I'm still so fond of it. Celebrate women scientists!Metamorphosis (2019) by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) for flute, harp, and string orchestra, commissioned by Balcones Community Orchestra, celebrates the life and work of Maria Sibylla Merian (1647-1717), pioneering entomologist, naturalist, and artist.Duration 5:30 minutes.Commissioned by the Balcones Community Orchestra of Austin, Texas, Metamorphosis (2019) by Adrienne Inglis for solo flute, solo harp, and string orchestra, honors the life and work of pioneering entomologist, naturalist, and artist Maria Sibylla Merian (1647-1717). As she carefully documented in illustrated detail the life cycle of so many insects, Metamorphosis musically follows a butterfly from adult, egg, larva, pupa, and adult. The piece opens with an ostinato pattern in the strings over which the flute and harp play fluttering modal melodies. The strings and harp represent the egg stage with minimalistic layers of a single pitch. To recognize Merian’s time in Suriname and her discovery of many insect species there, a cheerful tune fashioned after traditional Arawak folk songs informs the busy larvae in the caterpillar canon. A bit of contemplative dorian polyphony laced with metamorphic machinations demonstrate the remarkable transformation of the pupa as well as Merian’s time at a devout Labadist religious commune. The butterfly emerges from the pupa with a flute/harp cadenza and then the strings underscore the adult butterfly with a return of the ostinato. The piece ends with the same ostinato as the beginning such that the piece could loop seamlessly as in a true life cycle. This performance does not include the revisions made in this version of the music: https://youtu.be/GIjQpkXl6Uc

Londonderry Air arranged for String Orchestra.<br> <br> A big band version of the song is used as the theme for The Danny Thomas Show (a.k.a. Make Room For Daddy).<br> <br> "Danny Boy" was used to represent Northern Ireland at the start of the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony, sung by a choir of children on the Giant’s Causeway.<br> <br> On November 25, 2014, the Vancouver Canucks used the song in honor of the recently deceased Pat Quinn, who played and worked in many executive capacities for the team.<br> <br> There are various theories as to the true meaning of "Danny Boy". Some listeners have interpreted the song to be a message from a parent to a son going off to war or leaving as part of the Irish diaspora.<br> <br> The 1918 version of the sheet music included alternative lyrics ("Eily Dear"), with the instructions that "when sung by a man, the words in italic should be used; the song then becomes "Eily Dear", so that "Danny Boy" is only to be sung by a lady". In spite of this, it is unclear whether this was Weatherly’s intent.<br> <br> Why the name Londonderry Air? Londonderry and Derry refer to the same place, a city in the north of Ireland, and also to the surrounding county. Supposedly the city of Derry was founded by St. Colmcille, although archaeological evidence shows that people were living there thousands of years earlier. There is an excellent museum in the city, which is worth a visit if you want to find out more. The name of the city was actually "Doire", corrupted to "Derry" by people who can’t pronounce Irish. It thought to derive from an Irish root meaning "oak tree".<br> <br> Moving quickly along in history, about a millenium later the government of England was having a difficult time colonizing Ireland because of the fierce and warlike clans living there, especially in the north of the country, Ulster. The monarchs of England, almost all of whom were notorious cheapskates, were continually looking about for ingenious ways to conquer places without actually having to put up the money themselves, or run the risk of unpopularity if they lost. In the case of Ireland, some of these schemes of the "Brish gummit" (as it is termed nowadays in Ulster) are still producing unfortunate long-term consequences.<br> <br> In 1608, King James I gave the city of Derry to the City of London corporation. I guess the deal could be summed up by saying that if the City of London could figure out a way to chase all the inhabitants out of Derry, they would be allowed to keep the loot, minus a percentage for the King of course. If they lost, well too bad. In celebration of this historic agreement, the name of Derry was officially changed to Londonderry. (For further information, check out the Northern Ireland Tourist Board’s History of Derry.)<br> <br> The linguistic outcome of all this today is that, if you think that King James’s deal with the City of London was a good idea, you call both the city and county "Londonderry". If you do, you are probably a supporter of the Unionist movement that seeks to keep Ulster a part of the United Kingdom. If you think it was a bad idea, you call both "Derry", and you are probably a supporter of the Irish Nationalist cause. Or you might just be someone who thinks it’s confusing for kings to be going around changing the names of places all the time for no good reason.<br> <br> You can find plenty of discussion about the political side of the question elsewhere, but here let’s look at the musical side. We have an air, collected in county Derry/Londonderry, and it doesn’t have a title. What do we call it?<br> <br> If you were a proper Victorian, there’s no way you were going to call it the Londonderry Air, much less the Derry Air, because of the improper sentiments that these titles might suggest. My parents tell me that in their youth in Australia, it was usually called the Air from County Derry. (This would, I suppose, support Winston Churchill’s theory that Australia was inhabited by "convicts and Irishmen".)<br> <br> My mother also sends the following information, referring to an arrangement of the tune by the Australian composer Percy Grainger:<br> <br> Just another note about Danny Boy, that I grew up in Australia believing to be the Air from County Derry. We were looking through some LP’s last night (back to vinyl yet!) and found a Mercury Wing Classical Favorites stereo LP SRW18060, COUNTRY GARDENS and other favorites by Percy Grainger {played by} Eastman-Rochester Pops, Frederick Fennell, conducting. The cover notes included the following: "Irish Tune from County Derry was harmonised in memory of Irish childhood friends in Australia." Considered by many to be Grainger’s masterpiece of harmonization, the tune was collected many years ago by Miss Jane Ross of New Town, Limavady, Ireland. Grainger has set it for many instrumental combinations. So there’s another variant on the name for it. It doesn’t say who wrote the notes, but the bits in quotes for each of the works on the record are Grainger’s original comments.<br> <br> The references to Londonderry Air that I’ve seen don’t go back any earlier than the late 1930s. For example, the Glenn Miller Orchestra recorded Danny Boy (Londonderry Air) in February 1940. Bing Crosby’s version was recorded in July 1941 (reference). (So many different things I could check up on!) Londonderry was an important American naval base during WWII, but the US hadn’t come into the war in 1940.<br> <br> Need an anthem fast? They are ALL in my store! All my anthem arrangements are also available for Orchestra, Recorders, Saxophones, Wind, Brass and Flexible band. If you need an anthem urgently for an instrumentation not in my store, let me know via e-mail, and I will arrange it for you FOC if possible! keithterrett@gmail.com<br> <br> Contact Publisher Related Scores
