In June 2018, Ms. DiPaolo was a Collaborative Piano Fellow at the Bay View Music Festival in Petoskey, Michigan, performing with the festival's SOARS voice program participants on fully staged opera scenes and art song recitals as well as in the Bay View Young Artist Series (Charlevoix, MI). She then joined the Spooky Goose Opera team as an online coach/pianist for their Quarantine Concert Series, the world's first livestreamed Zoom production of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (summer 2020), and new opera projects under development. When not on the piano bench, Ms. DiPaolo continues to compose and arrange, and her compositions have been described as very effective with a fantastic amount of intrigue, mindfulness...[and] colorful nuance (Seven Sky Music). Ms. DiPaolo's music has been heard across the world. Along with numerous performances in the Midwest, her commissioned song settings of Muscogee poet laureate Alexander Posey's texts have been performed nationwide, and the Smithsonian Institution procured copies of two of these (Nature's Blessings and A Vision) to archive at the National Museum of the American Indian. Ms. DiPaolo's music also received its Mexican premiere in 2013 with a performance of her Divertimento, written for the International String Quartet of Yucatán. In 2014 Ms. DiPaolo published a set of twenty short pedagogical pieces in uncommon keys, entitled Venturing Beyond, for early-intermediate pianists of all ages, available on SheetMusicPlus and MusicaNeo, and she is currently working on Vignettes, a new set of pedagogical pieces that will introduce intermediate pianists to the Impressionist language of Maurice Ravel. Most recently, her Divertimento and Lucid Dreaming for solo harp were chosen to be featured in the She Scores new music festival, celebrating women composers with ties to Ohio, held at Case Western Reserve University in June 2022 and recorded for later broadcast on Mark Satola's Cleveland Ovations program on WCLV radio (90.3). The album is a personal collection of memories and landscapes of Casey growing up in the Blue Ridge Mountain region of Northern Virginia and a small farming community in rural Upstate New York. The songs are images and observations of Casey's personal experiences of autumn, particularly November. It was a common event between Casey and his older brother to try to capture fireflies in glass jars as the sun set. Being only 4 or 5 years old, you can imagine how magical it must have been for a young boy to see his brother catch these flying creatures in a jar and stare in wonder at how they lit up the night. Sometimes his brother let Casey carry the jar through the forrest before letting them go free. Sometimes Casey got lucky and caught his own and his brother then would exaggerate his level of skill and stealth and hunting technique to their parents on arriving home. It’s the first time Casey remembers feeling a sense of accomplishment. The magical wonder of creation and nature and the eternal bond between brothers – both so easily taken for granted and yet both so easily lost. Surely on Smith Mountain road, Lynchburg, Virginia, even now, those fireflies are putting on their show for free to an enraptured child. The song Chasing Fireflies is about this memory of Casey. Reviewers say that the nostalgic yet hopeful song perfectly captures the flying fireflies and the innocence of a time long since passed.

Its relatively flat topography and high elevation lead to intense winds and unpredictable storms bestowing the plateau's colorful moniker. Contrary to the title, the music reflects a compilation of impressions from multiple visits over a decade’s time, gathered with my son’s first-hand reports of overnight stays, rather than a single day’s experience. My original objective for the music was to portray the stark and stony landscape alternatively caressed and buffeted in a stew of breezes and gales, sunshine and storms. However, as I was writing the piece it became apparent the true theme of the music is rather a daily high-altitude drama pitting light versus darkness, a drama staged on the plateau’s rocks, meadows, streams, and lakes depicting a perpetually shifting kaleidoscope of distinctive lighting unlike any I have experienced elsewhere. The transparent, thin air reveals indigo blue skies and scalding-white clouds overarching stunning vistas stretching a hundred miles or more. The landscape glitters under the radiance of high latitude sunlight. The only word I can think of to describe the golden glow of sunbeams slicing through a summer snow squall is ethereal. The utter absence of artificial light makes for the darkest night skies and brightest stars one can experience on earth.
