Instrumental Duet Bass Flute,Harp,Instrumental Duet - Digital Download SKU: A0.1098499 Composed by Johann Pachelbel. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Baroque,Classical,Standards,Traditional,Wedding. Score and parts. 11 pages. Jmsgu3 #702355. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1098499). Score: 6 pages. Duration: ca. 2:30. The famous Pachelbel Canon arranged for Bass Flute & Harp. A great choice for weddings & receptions! Pachelbel's Canon Pachelbel's Canon is, in fact, the traditional title for a composition by the German composer Johann Pachelbel. Other names for the work include namely: Canon and Gigue for 3 violins and basso continuo, Canon and Gigue in D, and of course Canon in D. We do not know when or why in particular it was written. The oldest copy is surprisingly from the 19th century. It is important to realize that it was a common routine for organists to practice improvisation on the chord progression underlying the canon. Pachelbel originally scored the Canon notably for three violins and continuo. He also in fact paired the Canon with a gigue. The movements are homotonal, to clarify, both are in the key of D major. History In due time, Pachelbel's Canon went out of style and remained in virtual oblivion for centuries. The Jean-François Paillard chamber orchestra, however, recorded an arrangement of it in 1968. As a result, it gained approval. Many ensembles began likewise to record the piece in the 1970s and by the 1980s became ubiquitous as background music. From the 1970s to the early 2000s, pop songs correspondingly used elements of the piece. The chord progression, in particular, was used this way. Also, since the 1980s, it has been not only wildly popular for weddings, but also for funeral ceremonies in the USA and Europe. Pachelbel Background Johann Pachelbel (1653 –1706) was a German composer, as well as an organist. He was furthermore instrumental in bringing the south German organ school to its apex. He wrote a large body of music, both sacred and, equally important, secular. In particular, he uniquely helped develop the chorale prelude and fugue. For this, he has, in fact, earned a rightful place in the company of the most significant composers of the mid-Baroque period. Works Pachelbel's music was certainly popular. With this in mind, he also consequently had many pupils. His music expressly developed into a model for south German composers. Nowadays, Pachelbel is most famous, particularly for the Canon in D, as well as the F minor Chaconne, the Toccata in E minor, and of course the Hexachordum Apollinis, a set of variations for the keyboard. Influences Johann Jakob Froberger and Johann Caspar Kerll were south German composers who significantly influenced Pachelbel. Furthermore, he was especially influenced by Italians such as Frescobaldi and Poglietti. He frequently preferred an articulate, simple contrapuntal style that highlighted clarity. His music is markedly less extravagant and harmonically adventurous than that of Dieterich Buxtehude. However, as a point often overlooked, like Buxtehude, Pachelbel experimented with different instrumental combinations in his chamber music. Legacy All in all, Pachelbel was most famous as a composer for the keyboard. He composed over two hundred pieces specifically for the instrument. Pachelbel was also surprisingly a prolific composer of vocal music. All in all, about a hundred vocal works survive, including 40 or so large-scale works.

Flute,Keyboard Accompaniment - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1302049 Composed by Johann Pachelbel. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Baroque,Chamber,Historic,Instructional,Wedding. 22 pages. Regis Bookshar #891647. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1302049). Canon in D - Johann Pachelbel - Flute Trio, Keyboatd - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download.Johann Pachelbel's celebrated Canon in D is perhaps the most famous canon ever written. A canon is a polyphonic device in which several voices play the same music, entering in sequence. Pachelbel's Canon in D was originally scored for three violins arranged in canon, accompanied by a basso continuo playing an ostinato pattern, repeating the same harmonic progression throughout the entire somposition.Regis Bookshar has now arranged this composition for a Flute Trio which play the melody in canon and a Keyboard instrument, either a Piano or Organ, which plays the ostinato pattern. This arrangement is suitable for high school and college students and is perfect for concerts, recitals and church services, especially for weddings, but could be performed for any occasion. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (22 pages). This version of Pachelbel's Canon in D is written in the key of D Major, as was the original version. However, another version, transposed to the key of Bb Major, to make it a little easier for some younger performers, especially brass and woodwind players, is also available, if you would prefer. Also available are other versions of this well-known Canon in D for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to compare the different versions to find the version (or versions) which best suits your needs. Also, please feel free to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as there are numerous selections in a variety of styles also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check back periodically beause new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of Johann Pachelbel's delightful Canon in D will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

Sonatina for Flute and Piano
Piano,Soprano Flute - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1499262 Composed by James …

Piano,Soprano Flute - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1499262 Composed by James Albert Yeager. 21st Century,Chamber,Contemporary. Score and part. 43 pages. James A. Yeager #1075315. Published by James A. Yeager (A0.1499262). Foreword:Each movement revisits classic paradigms— (I & II) ternary song form,(III) theme & variations. The third movement treats the two themes as children at play with games such as tag and hide-and-seek as variations. Both themes become partner songs leading to fugue, which is, after all, the ultimate musical game.Performance Notes:I Moderato, slurs in the flute suggest phrasing but are optional in terms of breathing. The B section at letter C has a canon between flute and piano (left-hand) which suggests imitation in articulations and dynamics. The climax just before letter D can be stretched slightly more than poco rit. implies. II Slowly gently, must not be played slower than indicated. The middle section at letter B begins with a subito forte. At 3 measures before letter C the fermatas allow a certain freedom. When the flute releases the piano can continue the left-hand chord. The piano should use una corda in the bridge at letter C. Elsewhere, the piano may also employ una corda in quiet places ad libitum. At final note the flute can fade to nothing if breath runs out and just remain in pose as the final note of the piano is allowed to vanish.III Majestic with vigour, two given themes from ca. 1934 are Old Abram Brown by Benjamin Britten and Kookabura Sits on the Old Gum Tree by Marion Sinclair and both are rounds for children. The flute boldly declares theme one at the outset. The piano arpeggiations begin sonorously and quiet before letter A. In Variation 1 the piano must begin softer than the low register flute. The piano left-hand upper notes [A, then G, then D-A fifth) may require use of the sostenuto pedal. Variation 2 is a caccia or chase. Variation 3 is a barcarolle where theme 1 is hiding in the flute part. Variation 4 introduces the second theme (flute) in partnership with theme 1 (piano). Four measures before letter I the piano makes an ogre of theme 2 and should be humorously ponderous. The fugue subject might be the teacher who brings everyone into the final partner song of themes. The piece finishes as it began except for a wistful ending.James Albert Yeager (b.1946)James began his career as organist and choral conductor then harpsichordist and finally, professor of sacred music. As an organ major at The Ohio State University, he studied with Dr. Wilbur Held (B.Mus. 1969). Professor Joseph Goodman mentored him in composition at Union Theological Seminary in New York city (M. Sac. Mus, 1971). At the University of Colorado-Boulder, he returned to the organ, nevertheless, keeping composition as a mainstay (D.M.A. 1985). While in Colorado he composed two film scores for student filmmakers as well as choral and organ compositions. He was appointed Director of Sacred Music at the Pontifical College Josephinum (Columbus, Ohio) and rose to the rank of Professor (1984-2009). He retired as professor emeritus in 2009 and moved to New Mexico. While residing in Mountainair, New Mexico, he was organist/choral director for 12 years at a major Albuquerque church retiring again in 2021. He led choirs of all ages from children through the elderly. His most recent compositions include Passacaglia & Fugue for Organ and Chamber Orchestra (2022), a Fugue for Piano and Orchestra (2022), a Sonatina for Flute and Piano(2023), and the Sonata for Piano Quintet (2024) as well as several smaller works for voice and piano.

Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Keyboard Accompaniment - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1296626 Composed by Johann Pachelbel. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Baroque,Chamber,Historic,Instructional,Wedding. 22 pages. Regis Bookshar #886803. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1296626). Canon (Bb) - Johann Pachelbel - Woodwind Trio (1 Flute, 1 Clarinet, 1 Bassoon), Keyboard) - Advanved/Intermediate - Digital Download.Johann Pachelbel's celebrated Canon is perhaps the most famous canon ever written. A canon is a polyphonic device in which several voices play the same music, entering in sequence. Pachelbel's Canon was originally scored for three violins arranged in canon, accompanied by a basso continuo playing an ostinato pattern, repeating the same harmonic progression throughout the entire composition.Regis Bookshar has now arranged this composition for a Woodwind Trio, consisting of 1 Flute, 1 Clarinet in Bb and 1 Bassoon, which play the melody in canon and a Keyboard instrument, either a Piano or Organ, which plays the ostinato pattern. This arrangement is suitable for high school and college students and is perfect for concerts, recitals and church services, especially for weddings, but could be performed for any occasion. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (22 pages).Pachelbel's Canon was originally written in the key of D Major but this version has been transposed to the key of Bb Major, making it a little easier for some younger performers. Another version, in the original key of D Major, is also available, if you would prefer. Also available are other versions of this well-known Canon for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to compare the different versions to find the version (or versions) which best suits your needs. Also, please feel free to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as there are numerous selections in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check back periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of Johann Pachelbel's delightful Canon will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

Bassoon,Cello,Flute,Harpsichord,Organ Accompaniment,Piano Accompaniment - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.918918 By Jubal's Lyre Music. By Johann Pachelbel. Arranged by Martin Dicke. Baroque,Classical,Contest,Festival,Sacred,Wedding. 37 pages. Jubal's Lyre Music Publishers #6625465. Published by Jubal's Lyre Music Publishers (A0.918918). The beloved Canon in D Major by Johann Pachelbel (1653-1706) is offered here in a flexible arrangement for one two, or three flutes. Originally composed for three instruments, this edition allows Pachelbel’s Canon to be played if only one or two instruments are available. Provided are three keyboard parts: Keyboard 1 is to be used if there are three instruments; Keyboard 2 if there are only two instruments (the keyboard playing third part completing the trio); and Keyboard 3 if there is only one instrument (the keyboard playing the second part making a duet). Alternatively, the melody is beautiful and compelling enough that the work can be played as a duet or as a solo accompanied by the Keyboard 1 part. An optional Cello/Bassoon part and a page of notes providing the background and history of the work are also included. Arrangements for other instruments are also available.
