String Ensemble,String Quintet Cello,Double Bass,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.513367 Composed by Heitor Villa Lobos. Arranged by Renato Esteves. Classical,Latin,Multicultural,World. Score and parts. 29 pages. Renato Esteves #124134. Published by Renato Esteves (A0.513367). Villa-Lobos composed Chôros No. 1 in Rio de Janeiro in 1920, originally publishing it under the title Chôro tÃpico, then Chôro tÃpico brasileiro. The title is taken from an improvisational genre of Brazilian instrumental popular music that originated in Rio de Janeiro in the nineteenth century. The Portuguese word choro (pronounced [ˈʃoɾu]), means cry or lament, though most music of this type is far from being sorrowful. Four years after composing this work, at the time of his first visit to Paris, he decided to make it part of an extended cycle of works collectively titled Chôros, which eventually included fourteen numbered compositions, plus an Introduction aux chôros (Introdução aos chôros): Ouverture, for guitar and orchestra, designed to be played before a complete performance of the cycle, and Chôros bis, a two-movement duo for violin and cello, considered as a sort of encore piece. A Quintet (em forma de chôros), for five woodwind instruments (1928) is sometimes considered as related. In the context of the larger cycle, Chôros No. 1 is like the essence, the embryo, the psychological model that will be developed technically in the conception of all the Chôros.[1] The score of Chôros No. 1 is dedicated to Ernesto Nazareth, and a recording of it made by the composer lasts just under four minutes. Unlike the successor works, there is no attempt here to synthesize different aspects of Brazilian music into a stylistic montage. Instead, it employs the patterns, figurations, and simple structure characteristic of the improvised music of such celebrated chorões of the late-nineteenth and early twentieth centuries as Zequinha de Abreu, Quincas Laranjeiras [pt], Chiquinha Gonzaga, and Catulo da Paixão Cearense [pt].[2] This simplicity and the beauty of its composition have made it a favourite with professional guitarists.[3] Footnotes Villa-Lobos 1972, p. 210. C Instrument - Digital Download SKU: A0.737424 Composed by Antonio Vivaldi. Arranged by Andre Maaker. Baroque,Classical. Lead Sheet / Fake Book. 4 pages. SheetMusicHub #345590. Published by SheetMusicHub (A0.737424). This is a lead sheet style (melody/chords/form) notation of Allegro from The Spring / la Primavera by Antonio Vivaldi. Lead sheet by Andre Maaker. From Wikipedia: The Four Seasons (Italian: Le quattro stagioni) is a group of four violin concertos by Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi, each of which gives musical expression to a season of the year. These were composed around 1718−1720, when Vivaldi was the court chapel master in Mantua. They were published in 1725 in Amsterdam, together with eight additional concerti, as Il cimento dell'armonia e dell'inventione (The Contest Between Harmony and Invention). The Four Seasons is the best known of Vivaldi's works. Though three of the concerti are wholly original, the first, Spring, borrows patterns from a sinfonia in the first act of Vivaldi's contemporaneous opera Il Giustino. The inspiration for the concertos is not the countryside around Mantua, as initially supposed, where Vivaldi was living at the time, since according to Karl Heller they could have been written as early as 1716–1717, while Vivaldi was engaged with the court of Mantua only in 1718. They were a revolution in musical conception: in them Vivaldi represented flowing creeks, singing birds (of different species, each specifically characterized), a shepherd and his barking dog, buzzing flies, storms, drunken dancers, hunting parties from both the hunters' and the prey's point of view, frozen landscapes, and warm winter fires. #vivaldi #fourseasons #sheetmusic.

Full Orchestra - Digital Download SKU: A0.1008372 Composed by Claude Debussy. Arranged by Arkady Leytush. 20th Century. Score and parts. 24 pages. Arkady Leytush #4849769. Published by Arkady Leytush (A0.1008372). Estampes (Engravings) is the title of the triptych of three pieces which Debussy put together in 1903. The first complete performance was given on 9 January 1904 in the Salle Erard, Paris, by the young Spanish pianist Ricardo Viñes, who was already emerging as the prime interpreter of the new French music of Debussy and Ravel. The first two pieces were completed in 1903, but the third derives from an earlier group of pieces from 1894, collectively titled Images, which remained unpublished until 60 years after Debussy’s death, when they were printed as Images (oubliées). Estampes marks an expansion of Debussy’s keyboard style: he was apparently spurred to fuse neo-Lisztian technique with a sensitive, impressionistic pictorial impulse under the impact of discovering Ravel’s Jeux d’eau, published in 1902. The opening movement, ‘Pagodes’, is Debussy’s first pianistic evocation of the Orient and is essentially a fixed contemplation of its object, as in a Chinese print. This static impression is partly caused by Debussy’s use of long pedal-points, partly by his almost constant preoccupation with pentatonic melodies which subvert the sense of harmonic movement. He uses such pentatonic fragments in many different ways: in delicate arabesques, in two-part counterpoint, in canon, harmonized in fourths and fifths and as an underpinning for pattering, gamelan-like ostinato writing. Altogether the piece reflects the decisive impression made on him by hearing Javanese and Cambodian musicians at the 1889 Paris Exposition, which he had striven for years to incorporate effectively in music. In its final bars the music begins to dissolve into elaborate filigree. Just as ‘Pagodes’ was his first Oriental piece, so ‘La soirée dans Grenade’ was the first of Debussy’s evocations of Spain-that preternatural embodiment of an ‘imaginary Andalusia’ which would inspire Manuel de Falla, the native Spaniard, to go back to his country and create a true modern Spanish music based on Debussyan principles. Debussy’s personal acquaintance with Spain was virtually non-existent (he had spent a day just over the border at San Sebastian) and it is possible that one model for the piece was Ravel’s Habanera. Yet he wrote of this piece (to his friend Pierre Louÿs, to whom it was dedicated), ‘if this isn’t the music they play in Granada, so much the worse for Granada!’-and there is no debate about the absolute authenticity of Debussy’s use of Spanish idioms here. Falla himself pronounced it ‘characteristically Spanish in every detail’. ‘La soirée dans Grenade’ is founded on an ostinato that echoes the rhythm of the habanera and is present almost throughout. Beginning and ending in almost complete silence, this dark nocturne of warm summer nights builds powerfully to its climaxes. The melodic material ranges from a doleful Moorish chant with a distinctly oriental character to a stamping, vivacious dance-measure, taking in brief suggestions of guitar strumming and perfumed Impressionist haze. There is even a hint of castanets near the end. The piece fades out in a coda that seems to distil all the melancholy of the Moorish theme and a last few distant chords of the guitar. ‘Jardins sous la pluie’ is based on the children’s song ‘Nous n’rons plus au bois’ (We shan’t go to the woods): its original 1894 form was in fact entitled Quelques aspects de ‘Nous n’rons plus au bois’. The two versions are really two distinct treatments of the same set of ideas, but in ‘Jardins sous la pluie’ Estampes the earlier piece has been entirely rethought. The whole conception is more impressionistic, and subtilized. The teeming semiquaver motion is more all-pervasive, the tunes (for Debussy has added a second children’s song for treatment, ‘Do, do, l’enfant do’) more elusive and tinged sometimes with melancholy or nostalgia. Easy Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.596630 Composed by Juan MarÃa Solare. 20th Century,Instructional,Sacred. Score. 22 pages. Juan Maria Solare #6602197. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596630). Juan MarÃa Solare: On the Concept of Limit (seven piano pieces) In this work crystallises an idea that has been haunting me for some time: that the titles of the individual pieces should read like lines of a poem. 1) Up to a Certain Point 2) Nothing Gets Lost 3) Yet All Will Be Forgotten 4) At the End of the Day 5) Even the Sky Has a Limit 6) However, However 7) Only the Present Has No Limits There is a fancy order of keys in this cycle: in ascending thirds (both major and minor but without a regularity). Indirectly, this is a structural quotation of Beethoven's variations Opus 34 (only that he chose a descending order of keys). Additionally, you will find three times 4/4 time signature and three times 3/4, and one instance of 5/8 (asymmetrically arranged). 1) C major (4/4) 2) E major (3/4) 3) G minor (4/4) 4) B major (4/4) 5) D minor (5/8) 6) F minor (3/4) 7) A major (3/4) The seventh and last piece is dedicated to Martina Lindner. These pieces were composed in Bremen, Germany, in September 2021 Juan MarÃa Solare, www.JuanMariaSolare.com

My JuneIV. Hello, I’m Johnny CashPiano Trio No. 1 (Poets and Prophets) was composed by Mark O’Connor during the Fall of 2003. The piece was commissioned for the Eroica Trio by a noted patron for music, Kathryn Gould of Palo Alto, California. The world premiere took place at the Montalvo Chamber Music Series in California, March 5th, 2004. In a letter to the members of the trio dated 9/20/03, Mr. O’Connor lays out his plan for the new music. My initial ideas have sort of exploded in to the entire concept of the music with a real impact actually. Now I am piecing together the parts of it and then will eventually work on detail as I get the overall form under wrap. Here is what my inspiration for the music is; Johnny Cash.Johnny was a boyhood hero of mine, I used to sing his songs when I was 8, 9 and 10 years old, and played the guitar like him (sometimes up the fretboard strumming away). My mom used to help me transcribe all the lyrics off the albums, she also thought he hung the moon. As you can imagine, the passing of Cash for me this last week has been emotional. I am at my very best when I compose with my emotions at my sleeve, and guess what, it is time to do the Eroica piece. And I believe I will be able to craft a very unique tribute in to the form of a Piano Trio. There is something that is very fitting in all of this though. Cash was one of the few country music and rockabilly musicians to appeal to all ages, all types of people all the way into the MTV generation which is something that is hard to fathom. That one person can move musical mountains with his charisma and his voice. He sung about the prisons, riding the trains, about killing, and living, about lost love, about the gospel, about the downtrodden and the Native American, and about being stoned. His musical sound was the thing that got everybody though. He developed along with his guitar player Luther Perkins, a new and vibrant way to bring the music out.I also knew Johnny and worked with him, visited him privately at his home. Johnny also appeared on my album called Heroes, where he brought back the great story of the Devil coming down to Georgia to challenge young Johnny for the golden fiddle. My job now is to bridge what I am feeling about my inspiration for Cash, and bring it in to the instruments that I love writing for.I might not have imagined that this Johnny Cash concept would have worked out of hand, if it hadn’t been for your musicianship, insight fullness and graceful approaches in to the details of musical concepts and style. If the piece is good, then I will have no doubt that you will bring it to the forefront so others can grasp the intentions of the work, and in addition for others to enjoy playing it after you have brought it all out in to the open, and gave it a life. Original music printed from the composer’s manuscripts.Music editing, copying and engraving by Mark O’Connorusing Finale on Apple Macintosh 2003 Composed by Mark O’ConnorCan be heard on An American Journey by the Eroica Trio, Angel RecordsMark O’Connor Piano Trio with Soyeon Lee and Soo Bae soon to be released on OMAC Records Catalogue Number.

Seen in this way, a concert reflects a value system that pits the individual against the group and poses a struggle of I against you. Surely this vehemence could be explained in a Beethovenian era when the concepts of human rights and individual freedom were fragile ideals. However, it is a different scale of values that my piano concerto tries to reflect: the idea of cooperation, of teamwork and of an orchestra as a living organism whose organs are not superior to one another, more vital than others, but fulfil different functions, qualitatively speaking.Every soloist plays a leading role, but this does not imply either subordination to the rest or denigration or subjugation of the rest. The fact that the soloist is sometimes in the foreground does not imply a victory over the others. The very concept of victory is meaningless here.At times, the soloist will fulfil a leadership role, at others he or she will underpin from passivity what is happening in the orchestra, intentionally from the shadows, as a grey eminence. And at other times - why not - he will question what the majority is doing. It is not a rough relationship of me against you, but there is also a we.The composition and orchestration of this piano concerto was made possible by a grant from the Senator for Culture of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen. Easy Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1108141 Composed by Darrell Richings. Children,Classical,Contemporary,Instructional. Score. 22 pages. Animatedpiano #710764. Published by Animatedpiano (A0.1108141). Adventures with notes, rhythm and technique using only 3 notes in each hand, for piano explorers who are just getting started. Video coming soon! Introduction for teachers: Finding Your Way is an educational piano series which aims to build confidence in note-reading and encourage the development of good technique and musicianship. The overall concept is that each piece of music is like a journey, and learning music itself is a great adventure. New ideas are introduced very gradually, taking a ‘one step at a time’ approach. All the material is original, so the series can be used alongside other piano methods if desired. Finding Your Way 1 is suitable for a wide range of ages. It is accompanied by a YouTube video series, Piano Notation Basics, and a video with a free PDF, Getting Started On The Piano. Finding Your Way 1 concentrates exclusively on just 5 notes around Middle C (A B C D E). The idea is to get to know these notes thoroughly, and use them as a solid base for further exploration. There is also the advantage of focusing on the stronger fingers initially. Dynamic markings are not used at this stage (they will come in part 2), but staccato and two-note slurs are introduced. Hands-together playing is brought in very cautiously. Some note-naming challenges are included, but they are all worked into playable pieces. Note values are very simple, with nothing shorter than crotchets (quarter notes).

Vocal Solo,Voice - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.719761 Composed by Various. Arranged by Curtis Hanson. Sacred. 8 pages. Curtis Hanson #6069327. Published by Curtis Hanson (A0.719761). As years come and go, one increasingly recalls memories of earlier times. One of the most vivid and cherished memories I have while growing up is of Sunday mornings, going to church, sitting in the same pew each week with my grandmother, hearing and singing the beautiful hymns of our faith, and then returning home to the aroma of beef slowly roasting in the oven. My father directed the church choir, my mother and older brothers sang in the choir, so the wonderful music of our faith was instilled in me from an early age. This medley, and others in the series, are arrangements of many of my favorite hymns from those early years, many of which have been lost in more recent editions. For this series, I have elected to use the older texts as that is the way they were first written and the way I first learned them. There is a reverence and beauty in the language enriching the vocal tone which, I believe, is lost in contemporary, conversational, or politically correct syntax. I shudder to think of the day when a penitential phrase such as Hear thou my prayer, O Lord is rendered as Hey, God-dude, listen up - I'm talkin' atcha! I have also opted not to include the many wonderful hymns and carols which are associated with the major festivals of Christmas and Easter as those are commonly found in other collections. A caveat: I have no delusions, and I offer no pretenses, that these settings are great art. They are simply expressions of faith which I hope may bring a small measure of joy to other church musicians. The general concept of each medley is to present the hymn, often in its original chorale form, and then vary its harmony or texture. The hymns in this set include He Leadeth Me, Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us, and O Master, Let Me Walk with Thee. This collection of arrangements is also available for SATB voices and piano or piano solo.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1189545 By Brian Golden. By Brian Golden. Arranged by Brian Golden. Classical,Contemporary. Score. 3 pages. Brian Golden #789177. Published by Brian Golden (A0.1189545). Prelude 1 in C Major Ionian from 24 Preludes for the Piano in Major and Minor Modes by composer Brian Golden.  The creative concept in writing these preludes is to provide a link to past preludes written for the keyboard, and in particular to the works of J.S. Bach and Frederic Chopin, whose works stand as essential repertoire for any student of the piano.  Using Bach’s and Chopin’s examples, my goal was to compose in all twenty-four keys, yet offer my own variation on the progression of key signatures – Bach’s being a pattern of major to parallel minor progressing chromatically through all keys, and Chopin’s a pattern of major to relative minor keys progressing clockwise through the circle of fifths.  In order to expand my harmonic and melodic possibilities, I have included the modal keys rather than only the major and harmonic minor keys, and have chosen to work counterclockwise through the circle of fifths, which is a more natural harmonic progression.  Therefore, all major preludes resolve from one to another V-I, as well as do all the minor preludes.  While there are seven modal scales, I decided to leave out the locrian modes for the following reasons.  First, due to the diminished fifth, the locrian mode cannot be thought of as either major nor minor.  Second, the locrian mode did not have a relative key to pair with, since there were no other keys with the identical characteristic notes.  In creating the key architecture, I determined that there was only one solution to pairing major and relative minor scales based on a shared parent key and characteristic note - ionian/aolian, mixolydian/phrygian and lydian/dorian.  This specific order of modal scales is the only order that would enable composing in all twelve key signatures.  Finally, the inspiration for each prelude came from playing through several other preludes in the same keys - mostly by Bach and Chopin - and letting their themes and styles influence me in the writing of my own.

Published by Daniel Hay Music (A0.596412). Probably the first composition the composer, Daniel Hay, created is the piece The Hermit for Oboe and Strings. This bass clef arrangement is the melody from that piece. It was an experiment in modified 12-tone music structure. A friend from his years in Junior High School provided the melody concept. Many years later The Hermit was one of many compositions lost during Hurricane Katrina. The original score had been recovered because it had been sent to the composer's friend. In the piece, the hermit is represented by the solo instrument, and society is represented by the strings. This solo version can be played by most bass clef instruments although it was first expressed as an Oboe and the attached mp3 is voiced as Bassoon. The linked YouTube file is in Oboe voicing.

Guitar - very easy to intermediate - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q6448 A fresh approach. This edition: Sheet music. Schott Sight-Reading Series. Downloadable. Op. 1. Schott Music - Digital #Q6448. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6448). English • French • German. Here comes a book with really fresh ideas just at the right time. The two authors John Kember and Martin Beech are profound experts on guitar didactic problems. They present a compendium of pieces arranged in progressive order that is without equal. Due to the guitar's specific fingering, sight-reading is, by tradition, a real pain for all generations of guitar players. By cleverly splitting the learning steps, the two authors have succeeded in creating a consistent and practical concept of easy to medium difficulty. Most important approach: all pieces without fingerings! In combination with a textbook and selected accompanying literature, teachers and pupils will certainly greatly enjoy the exercises and pieces. This book will turn a budding guitarist into a mature musician! (Dieter Kreidler).

The Christmas Folio series consists of distinctive arrangements carefully written to capture the essence of woodwind, brass and string tonal color. The musical treatment (tempo, texture, counterpoint, articulation, dynamics, etc.) represents the arranger's concept of the text most often associated with the easily recognizable tunes. While each collection creates its own unique mood for the instrumental family for which it is written, there are several pieces that can be played simultaneously with the existing volumes. Those titles marked with a / may be used with brasses and woodwinds, while the titles marked with an X may be played by all instruments to create a chamber orchestra.
