Dawn of the Century March - Polka for “Hungry Five” Band

Clarinet,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1371301 Composed by E. T. Paull. Arranged by Aaron Hettinga. 20th Century,Chamber,Folk,March,Multicultural,World. 16 pages. Aaron Hettinga #955511. Published by Aaron Hettinga (A0.1371301). Edward Taylor Paull (1858-1924) was an American composer of marches and rags who was successful in producing a large number of circus marches in the late 1800’s/early 1900’s. His “Dawn of the Century March†welcomed in the then-brand new Twentieth Century. This arrangement has been prepared for the instrumentation of Alford’s “Hungry Five†polka band books and serves as a fine addendum to those familiar pieces. While the clarinet parts tend to be the most active, they often feature diatonic scalar patterns that remain accessible to most intermediate-level players. Though the trumpet part does sneak up to some written high A’s and B-flats during the first strain, the remainder of the piece doesn’t surpass the G on top of the staff. At the risk of sounding sloppy, it may be better to take the tempo a little lesser than a circus march tempo to accommodate. Besides, if playing this piece to accompany Polka dancing, it would be best to take this at a more danceable tempo anyway. This downloadable PDF package contains a full score and a set of parts that are ready to go for adding some extra variety to your German Band’s Oktoberfest OomPah gig!

Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.713544). Featured during the end credits to the George A. Romero film 'Dawn of the Dead' (1979) and subsequently as the theme to the TV show 'Robot Chicken', this chirpy little march was composed by Herbert Chappell in 1965 as library music for the De Wolfe company. String Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.534672 Composed by Gregory Sullivan Isaacs. Contemporary,Jewish. Score and parts. 29 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #5775635. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534672). The concept for this piece is to restore the voice of millions silenced by the horrific experience we now call the Holocaust, through the sounds of musical instruments that survived. One thing is clear: the genocide of the Jews was an appalling blow to the human race; one that left a permanent stain on both the perpetrators and enablers, those who stood by without uttering a word of protest. A terrible Night descended upon the world, yet, the breaking Dawn that followed was glorious, indeed. The price to save civilization in the 20th century was appallingly high. Although we must remain ever vigilant, the Jewish people today have a proud homeland—and their magnificent contributions to humanity are universally celebrated. The piece opens with the descent of the seemingly benign curtain of night. Premonitions arise but the darkness continues to descend, over and over again. Finally, chaos ensues and runs its ghastly course before dissipating. The inevitable dawn begins to break, although the curtain of night continues to threaten. Dawn is characterized by two contrasting melodies. One, a stalwart tune that marches ever forward, while the second, more questioning tune appears independently. After their separate statements, the two powerfully join forces to bring this work to a hopeful close, followed by a quiet “Amen.†This item is the score only. The parts are available on rental from the publisher.

Small Ensemble High Voice,Low Voice,Medium Voice,Multi-Percussion,Piano - Digital Download SKU: A0.733079 Composed by James Wagner. 20th Century,Opera. Score and parts. 104 pages. Ayotte Custom Musical Engravings #3017785. Published by Ayotte Custom Musical Engravings (A0.733079). For more than a year after abdicating the throne of Russia, Nicholas and his family have been under house arrest. The opera opens with the former Czar lamenting his fall from power and precarious circumstances. His wife, Anexandra, consoles him and they sing of their undying love in the duet, One Love Forever. One by one, the children awake and join them on stage. Anastasia dramatically portrays a dream she has just had. Then, in an upbrat song of hope she explains her optimistic outlook in My Name Is Anastasia. The ensemble joins her at the end, assuring one another they will all soon be rising up to life again. To while away the time, the family pretends they are at the French Ambassador's New Year's Ball.At the height of the ensuing waltz, Comrade Sladislav, Captain of the Red Guard, and a band of revolutionary guards burst it. Sladislav harangues Nicholas and the family. Then, in the vindictive Song of the Revolution, he extols the greatness of la Révolution as the family watches in fear. Nicholas and Alexandra remind each other of their one love forever and the children look for dawn in darkest night. The Captain then marches the family down to the cellar (off-stage), ostensibly to await transport. Thus trapped, they are easy prey for the revolvers of Sladislav and his men. The self-satisfies revolutionary reemerges and makes his closing statements before exiting.Scored for piano and percussion. Dramatis Personæ:Anastasia (soprano) Comrade Sladislav (baritone) Nicholas (baritone) Alexandra (contralto) Olga (soprano) Maria (mezzo-soprano) Alexis (mezzo-soprano) Guards (2 tenors and a baritone)

Moonlight Serenade for Tuba Quintet (Jazz for 5 Series)

Tuba, Euphonium, Tuba Quintet - Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Glenn Miller. Arranged by Keith Terrett. 20th Century, Jazz, Swing, Old-time. Score, Set of Parts. 8 pages. Published by Music for all Occasions
Moonlight Serenade" arranged here for Tuba Quintet, is an American popular song composed by Glenn Miller with subsequent lyrics by Mitchell Parish. It was an immediate phenomenon when first released in May 1939 as an instrumental arrangement and was adopted as Miller’s signature tune. In 1991, Miller’s recording of "Moonlight Serenade" was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

The song, recorded on April 4, 1939 on RCA Bluebird, was a Top Ten hit on the U.S. pop charts in 1939, reaching number three on the Billboard charts, where it stayed for fifteen weeks. It was the number 5 top pop hit of 1939 in the Billboard year-end tally. Glenn Miller had five records in the top 20 songs of 1939 on Billboard′s list.

In the UK, "Moonlight Serenade" was released as the A-side of a 78 on His Master’s Voice, with "American Patrol" as the B-side. The recording reached number twelve in the UK in March 1954, staying on the chart for one week. In a medley with "Little Brown Jug" and "In the Mood", "Moonlight Serenade" reached number thirteen on the UK charts in January 1976, in a chart run of eight weeks.

The recording was also issued as a V-Disc, No. 39A, in November 1943.

The recording used a clarinet-led saxophone section, which is widely considered[citation needed] the classic Glenn Miller style. Miller studied the Schillinger technique with Joseph Schillinger, who is credited with helping Miller create the "Miller sound", and under whose tutelage he himself composed "Moonlight Serenade".

The song evolved from a 1935 version entitled "Now I Lay Me Down to Weep", with music by Glenn Miller and lyrics by Eddie Heyman to a version called "Gone with the Dawn" with lyrics by George Simon, and "The Wind in the Trees" with lyrics by Mitchell Parish. In his biography of Glenn Miller, George T. Simon recounted how vocalist Al Bowlly of the Ray Noble Orchestra sang him the Eddie Heyman lyrics to the Glenn Miller music of "Now I Lay Me Down to Weep" in 1935. The Noble Orchestra never recorded the song. Finally it ended up as "Moonlight Serenade" because Robbins Music bought the music and learned that Miller was recording a cover of "Sunrise Serenade", a Frankie Carle associated song, for RCA Victor. They thought "Moonlight" would be a natural association for "Sunrise".

"Now I Lay Me Down to Weep" was composed in 1935 with lyrics by Eddie Heyman and music by Glenn Miller. After "Moonlight Serenade", originally released solely as an instrumental, became a smash hit in 1939, Mitchell Parish wrote new lyrics for the music under that title.

A notable vocal version can be found on Frank Sinatra’s Moonlight Sinatra released in 1965, which also contains "Moon Love", "Moonlight Becomes You", and "Oh, You Crazy Moon", which were recorded by Glenn Miller and his Orchestra. "Moonlight Serenade" can also be found on Nothing But the Best, a 2008 Frank Sinatra greatest hits compilation by Reprise, on My Way: The Best of Frank Sinatra from 1997 by Warner Bros., and the Frank Sinatra compilation Greatest Love Songs from 2002. Frank Sinatra also released the song as part of an 7" EP 33RPM single in 1966, Reprise SR1018. The song also appeared on the 2015 centennial collection Ultimate Sinatra. In 1939, Count Basie and His Orchestra recorded one of the earliest versions to feature the lyrics added by Mitchell Parish which was released as a 78 single, Vocalion 5036.

"Moonlight Serenade" has been covered by Barry Manilow, Carly Simon, The Airmen of Note of the U.S. Air Force with Air Force Strings, Charlie Haden, Marc Reift, Chet Baker with The Mariachi Brass in 1966, Santo and Johnny, Thelma Houston, Carol Burnett, Toots Thielemans, Deodato, who reached number 18 on the Billboard Easy Listening Chart, Count Basie and his Orchestra with vocals by Helen Humes in 1939, Benny Goodman and his Orchestra, Cab Calloway, The Modernaires, Gene Krupa and his Orchestra, Freddy Martin and his Orchestra, Bert Kaempfert, Ray Conniff, Mina, Dick Todd on RCA Bluebird, Geoff Love and His Orchestra, Lloyd Gregory on solo guitar, Dick Hyman, Maxwell Davis and his Orchestra, Tony Evans, Los Indios Tabajaras, David Rose, Richard Himber, Fi Dells Quartet, Waikikis, The Universal-International Orchestra conducted by Joseph Gershenson, Oleg Lundstrom, Charlie Byrd, Taco, Alix Combelle, Richard Vaughn, Lisa Ono, Eddie Maynard, Simone Kopmajer, Hamburg Philharmonia, Frankie Capp, Dave, Robert Banks Trio, Karel Vlach, Transatlantic Swing Band, the Frankie Condon Orchestra, The Romantic Strings, Paul Mauriat, Tommy Leonetti, Johnny Desmond, the Boston Pops under Arthur Fiedler, John Williams, and Keith Lockhart, Charlie Calello Orchestra, J.P. Can any other record match ’Moonlight Serenade’ for its ability to induce a Pavlovian slobber in so many for so long?" (The New Yorker, May 24, 2004).

"Moonlight Serenade" released as V-Disc 39A, VP 75, Theme Song, by the U.S. War Department in November 1943. In November 1939, Miller had a 15-minute radio series on CBS called Moonlight Serenade that ran three times a week, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 10:00 PM Eastern Time (shifting to 7:15 PM in May 1942), until September 1942, sponsored by Chesterfield.

Wartime release:

The 1939 RCA Victor studio recording of "Moonlight Serenade" was released by the U.S. War Department as V-Disc 39A, VP 75, Theme Song, in November, 1943. The recording was also released on the Navy V-Disc No. 160A. A V-Disc test pressing of a recording of the song from November 17, 1945 by the AAF Band was made but the disc was not issued. A new recording by Glenn Miller with the American Band of the Allied Expeditionary Forces was broadcast to Germany in 1944 on the radio program The Wehrmacht Hour.

Need an anthem fast? Cello,Instrumental Duet,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1360674 Composed by Socrates Arvanitakis. 21st Century,Contemporary. 72 pages. Socrates Arvanitakis #945173. Published by Socrates Arvanitakis (A0.1360674). GENERAL PREFACE – ΓΕÎΙΚΟΣ ΠΡΟΛΟΓΟΣThis edition of violin and violoncello duets follows closely my publication of the same Greek folk pieces for classical guitar. The arrangements for guitar solo were written in two-part counterpoint and followed the strophic form of the folk songs involved. The melodic transcriptions of the folk melodies were not based in any particular performance, also avoiding the elaborate in many cases instrumental introductions associated with these songs. Thus, only the vocal melodies in a general recognizable version were presented. This new presentation for instrumental duets will stay with this generalised melodic version (without exploiting the instrumental introductions), but the form from strophic will become ternary (ABA). In the middle section the main melody will be played in the lower voice and the original guitar contrapuntal voice will be used in the upper voice if by chance it includes invertible counterpoint, otherwise new material will be added to fit the rules but also the intended harmony. The total collection is centred more on the music from mainland Greece and less in that from the Islands. The three dance rhythms of Kalamatianos (7/8), Tsamikos (3/4), and Syrtos Balos (2/4) are predominant in the whole first collection.TECHNICALSeparate parts have been included and they can be extracted as separate files with any free PDF editing programme on line.Empty pages have been added for inclusion/deletion at will and left-right hand page arrangement.Thematic Index with active internal links for ease of navigation have been added.Audio file (mp3) has been addedCONTENTS49 ΓΙΑΤΡΟΣ Ο (The Doctor)50 ΓΙΩΡΓΟΣ Ο (George)51 ΓΚΙΟΥΛ ΜΠΑΞΕΣ (Beautiful Garden)52 ΓΛΥΚΟΧΑΡΑΖΕΙ Η ΧΑΡΑΥΓΗ (The Dawn Comes Sweetly)53 ΔΑΧΤΥΛΙΔΙ ΤΟ (The Ring)54 ΔΕÎΤΡΟ ΤΟ (The Tree)55 ΔΕΡΒΙΣΑΚΙ ΤΟ (The Little Dervish)56 ΔΗΜΟΣ Ο (Demos)57 ΔΙΑΜΑÎΤΙ ΔΑΧΤΥΛΙΔΙ (Diamond Ring)58 ΔΙΑΜΑÎΤΩ Η (Diamanto)59 ΔΥΟΣΜΑΡΑΚΙ ΤΟ (The Peppermint)60 ΕΓΩ ΕΙΜΑΙ Η ΒΛΑΧΑ (I Am The Wallachian Woman)61 ΕΙΚΟΣΙΠΕÎΤΕ ΤΟΥ ΜΑΡΤΙΟΥ (25th of March)62 ΕΙΧΑ ΜΙΑΠΑΓΑΠΗ (I Had A Love)63 ΕΞΟΜΟΛΟΓΗΣΗ Η (The Confession)64 ΕΡΗ, ΕΡΗÎΑΚΙ ΜΟΥ (Eri, My Little Erini).

This concert, composed between october and november 2022, was designed for five timpani and has a structure in three movements. The prelude in fact wants to recall the primordial use of the timpani on horseback and the piano suonds very percussive. The second movement is a minuet with a festive atmosphere, and wants to reproduce in a imaginative way the return of troops on horseback. The last movement wants to represent musically the colors of the dawn of the next day.

Clarinet,Piano - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.933335 Composed by Juan Carlos Guerra González. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and part. 27 pages. Juan Carlos Guerra Gonzalez #6494091. Published by Juan Carlos Guerra Gonzalez (A0.933335). Nocturno is scored for Clarinet in Bb and Piano. As a teenager, I played the Clarinet for a couple of years for the marching band in my school. In the short time that I played this instrument, I discovered its richness of tone and expressiveness. This work tries to explore the lyrical possibilities and the magnificent range of the Clarinet in combination with tender and colorful melodies from the Piano. The final section of the piece is a picturesque dialogue between the clarinet and the piano representing the night is over and dawn is coming. Nocturno is kindly dedicated to Laura Jiménez Tassara as a way to say thank you for her dedication and hard work in favor of many musicians. Laura is the producer of an album where two of my works: Healing and Morning Lullaby, were professionally recorded with performances by Rebeca Ordóñez (Piano) and Johan ChapellÃn (Violin)
