5 saxophones (SAATBar) - intermediate - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q40419 Composed by Johannes Brahms. Arranged by Albert Loritz. This edition: score and parts. Quintett - Saxophon - Tänze. Downloadable, Score and parts. Advance Music GmbH - Digital #Q40419. Published by Advance Music GmbH - Digital (S9.Q40419). Key: G minor. German.Brahms’ Hungarian Dances are among the most popular compositions in the field of light classical music with dance no. 5 probably being the most well-known one of the altogether 21 pieces of the cycle. It is this dance the arrangement for saxophone quintet at hand is based on. Answers to the questions to what extent Brahms incorporated traditional Hungarian melodies into these pieces or whether the dances represent original creations of his own written in a “Hungarian style†might be found in specialist literature or on the internet. These sources may also be consulted to get further information on the history of origins of these compositions. The original version of the Fifth Hungarian Dance for Piano Four-Hands published in 1869 is written in F# minor. For most of the arrangements (for orchestra and for any other conceivable type of ensemble) created thereafter in rapid succession - but also for this present version written for saxophone quartet – the key of G minor was chosen. The markings for tempo and dynamics included are based on the original composition but also take into account certain performance practices. The individual voices take turns in executing the main melody. The brackets appearing in the score and in the individual parts mark the beginning and the end of those passages where the respective instrument takes the lead. The arrangement for quintet at hand can be performed soloistically or in chorus.

String Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.742492 Composed by George Frideric Handel. Arranged by Arte Nova Music Lab. Baroque,Concert,Standards,World. Score and parts. 57 pages. Arte Nova Music Lab #5041947. Published by Arte Nova Music Lab (A0.742492). Around the year 1726, John Walsh, a London music publisher, created a wonderful forgery in order to run around the copyright laws of the day: he pretended to pirate an edition supposedly published by the House of Roger in Amsterdam. This forgery included 12 Sonatas for solo instrument and continuo which had been composed by one George Frideric Handel (1685-1759). Around 1793 the House of Arnold published the same set, omitting two of the original 12 and replacing them with two others by Handel. So at this point there were a total of 14 solo sonatas available to the public. In the year 1879 Friedrich Chrysander issued these 14 works and several others in volume 27 of the German Handel Society’s Gesamtausgabe of Handel’s works. Since then they have been edited from this scholarly work many times, and afflicted by all sorts of permutations which reflect the various styles of performance in vogue over the years. One finds editions stripped of ornamentation but loaded with articulation and dynamic markings at one end of the spectrum, and editions with modest stenographic and florid ornamentation at the other. The Sonata in C Minor (London: 1712) is a pure example of the middle phase of the solo sonata da chiesa [church sonata]. The first three movements are indicative of the style found in sonatas derived from the disruptive canzona of the early 17th century. An initial slow movement with walking bass is followed by an imitative movement (in this case, a fugue with a chromatic subject), which in turn leads to an Adagio. This latter movement in the relative major is a ricercare containing several imitative entrances. The finale is a spirited binary-form Bourrée angloise, an item taken over from the French ordre or dance suite. The extraordinarily short length of this movement seems to indicate that a trio is missing here; therefore, I have added the bourrée from the Royal Fireworks Music of 1749 to act as a trio, but players are certainly free to omit it. Adding a series of variations based on the chord changes of the Bourrée angloise would be an alternative way to lend weight to this final movement.Taken from https://www.idrs.org/scores/Lehrer/DRArch/69HandelSonataCm.html

Guitar - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q589259 (annotated edition STEP BY STEP beginners). Composed by Johann Anton Logy. Arranged by Gerd-Michael Dausend. STEP BY STEP. Downloadable. Musikverlag Zimmermann - Digital #Q589259. Published by Musikverlag Zimmermann - Digital (S9.Q589259). Key: A minor. German • English • French.Jan Antonin Graf Losy von Losinthal is known under the name of Johann Anton Logy. He lived from around 1650 till 1721 and is considered one of the most important Bohemian lute players who became familiar with both the Viennese and the French style when travelling around. His compositions for the guitar have been preserved in the form of many tablatures. Apart from dance movements, he also composed variations and character pieces for the baroque guitar using the tuning aa-Dd-gg-bb-e', which was quite popular in France. This edition has been rearranged for the modern guitar and annotated (as are all books from the STEP BY STEP series) with detailed information on playing techniques. This makes it an excellent choice for introducing Baroque performance procedure.

Voice, recorder and percussion - Digital Download Minor: Dominant and Subdominant Triads. Arranged by Margaret Murray. This edition: score for voice and/or instruments. Orff- Schulwerk. Downloadable. Op. 5. Schott Music - Digital #Q49516. Published by Schott Music - Digital
English.<br> <br> Carl Orff devoted much of his life to the development of a philosophy of Music for Children, based on his belief that music is the natural outcome of speech, rhythm and movement. His ideas and pioneering work have had a major influence on music and dance education throughout the world and today that work continues under the guidance of leading teachers and educators in many countries. The five basic German volumes of Music for Children by Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman were published between 1950 and 1954. Editions have since been published in Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Ghana, Great Britain (including a special Welsh edition), Greece, Italy, Japan, Korea, Latin-America, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan and the USA. In 1952 the first edition in translation appeared an English language adaptation by Doreen Hall and Arnold Walter for their Canadian and American students. A few years later, Margaret Murray independently developed a version (1957-1966), essentially to fulfil the needs of United Kingdom teachers. Inevitably the considerable growth of Orff-Schulwerk in the United States led to the publication of the American Edition (1977) to satisfy the requirements of a different educational system and national heritage. Orff-Schulwerk: Music for Children has proved itself to be a stimulating source of material for music teaching. Carl Orff's fundamental educational ideas have revitalized music education in nursery schools, at all levels of primary and secondary education and in special music schools, based on the concepts that: - music, dance and language are inter-related and animated through rhythm. - when children discover, invent, improvise and compose, their experience of music is intensified. These creative activities are complementary to those of interpreting and listening to music. - all who take part are encouraged to contribute, not only vocally but also instrumentally. - the Orff approach to music education is many sided. it is concerned with practical music-making, it provides fundamental experiences and it lays the foundation for a comprehensive musical training. - movement games and activities for body awareness in space, time and flow, lead to movement improvisation and dance forms. - music and dance have been notated in many different ways in history. Various ways of writing down sounds and music, as well as playing from and interpreting different kinds of sources are being explored. Today, countless teachers and institutions are using these ideas. More and more teachers look for ways of involving their students in active music making. In particular, they seek to challenge their pupils' creativity by the use of music, dance and speech - as media of human expression - as a foundation of all education. A prerequisite for work in Orff-Schulwerk is the artistic and pedagogical training of teachers. The Orff Institute was founded in 1961 as a Department of the 'Mozarteum', in Salzburg, Austria. Training offered includes a four-year diploma course, a two-year post-graduate course, and a one-year-course in English. At the opening of the Orff Institute in Salzburg in 1963, Carl Orff ended his speech with a quotation from Schiller: 'I have done my part, now do yours.' That challenge has been taken up by teachers worldwide. Murray Edition English adaption, with additional material, by Margaret Murray. Besed on, and containing all the rhythmic and instrumental material from the main five volumes of the original German edition. Contents of this fifth volume: Songs and pieces making further use of the modes introduced in Vol. 4, with the addition of the more usual forms of the minor scale with the sharpened seventh. The settings of short dramatic scenes concludes the book.

String Orchestra - Digital Download SKU: A0.862525 Composed by Michael Bomier. Baroque,Contemporary,Instructional,Sacred,Standards. Score and parts. 11 pages. Michael Butkus-Bomier #2032899. Published by Michael Butkus-Bomier (A0.862525). The Allemande was a German dance form used in many Baroque Era suites. Its characteristic rhythm was the dotted-eighth-sixteenth figure, which is used throughout this piece. The real substance of this composition is not the dance form, however, but the strict and highly evocative use of the ascending and descending forms of the melodic minor scale. Since this was such a Baroque Era staple, I felt the piece had to use Baroque forms, techniques and structures as well. So, the key is D minor. C and Bb going down, B and C# going up. No accidentals but these were used. D minor is not the happiest of keys, and accordingly the mood here is somber. The orchestral texture is NOT rich and lush, like other pieces in the series, but is thinner and more contrapuntally transparent. There are three internal cadences before the ending sequence. Suspensions, voice leading, and dissonances are all treated in a standard Baroque fashion. Bowings by string pedagogue Lori Sandell Lacey. Running time is approx 3 mins 30 secs.at suggested tempo. The piece could certainly go faster if your group can handle it. Each part is but a single page, for easy management of music in rehearsal and performance. MBB.

Trombone Duet Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792280 Composed by Bach, J. S. Arranged by Sauer, Ralph. Baroque,Classical,Renaissance. Score. 36 pages. Gordon Cherry #4803805. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792280). The Four Duets, BWV 802-805 are part of a larger collection, the Clavier-übung III sometimes called the German Organ Mass. They were first published in 1739, mostly likely intended to be performed on the organ, as they have a range from C2 to C6; playable on almost any organ from that era. However, they could have been performed on any keyboard of the time. Musically they are more complex than the Two Part Inventions, and their purpose was most likely to take two-part counterpoint to the max. • Fugue 1 is a double fugue in E minor • Fugue 2 is a fugue in F major written as a da capo aria (ABA) • Fugue 3 in G major is light and dance-like • Fugue 4 in A minor is a fugue in strict counterpoint Ralph Sauer has once again done an extraordinary job of finding great music for our instrument and transcribing it in the most beautiful way possible. Appropriate for advanced performers. Each player has their own part as well as a study score. The 2nd part may be performed on a tenor with f-attachment or a bass trombone.

Chamber Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.742401 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Arte Nova Music Lab. Baroque,Concert,Standards,World. Score and parts. 111 pages. Arte Nova Music Lab #3005423. Published by Arte Nova Music Lab (A0.742401). The four orchestral suites (called ouvertures by their author), BWV 1066–1069 are four suites by Johann Sebastian Bach. The name ouverture refers only in part to the opening movement in the style of the French overture, in which a majestic opening section in relatively slow dotted-note rhythm in duple meter is followed by a fast fugal section, then rounded off with a short recapitulation of the opening music. More broadly, the term was used in Baroque Germany for a suite of dance-pieces in French Baroque style preceded by such an ouverture. This genre was extremely popular in Germany during Bach's day, and he showed far less interest in it than was usual: Robin Stowell writes that Telemann's 135 surviving examples [represent] only a fraction of those he is known to have written;[1] Christoph Graupner left 85; and Johann Friedrich Fasch left almost 100. Bach did write several other ouverture (suites) for solo instruments, notably the Cello Suite no. 5, BWV 1011, which also exists in the autograph Lute Suite in G minor, BWV 995, the Keyboard Partita no. 4 in D, BWV 828, and the Overture in the French style, BWV 831 for keyboard. The two keyboard works are among the few Bach published, and he prepared the lute suite for a Monsieur Schouster, presumably for a fee, so all three may attest to the form's popularity.Scholars believe that Bach did not conceive of the four orchestral suites as a set (in the way he conceived of the Brandenburg Concertos), since the sources are various, as detailed below. The Bach-Werke-Verzeichnis catalogue includes a fifth suite, BWV 1070 in G minor. However, this work is highly unlikely to have been composed by J. S. Bach. Taken from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orchestral_suites_(Bach)

Hall/Walter Edition Based on Volumes 1, 2 and 4 of the original German Edition musik für Kinder, english adaption with additional material by Doreen Hall and Arnold Walter.

Voice, recorder and percussion - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q47192 Minor: Drone Bass-Triads. Arranged by Margaret Murray. This edition: score for voice and/or instruments. Songs - Orff Schulwerk - pieces. Orff-Schulwerk. Downloadable, Vocal and performing score. Op. 4. Schott Music - Digital #Q47192. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q47192). English.Carl Orff devoted much of his life to the development of a philosophy of Music for Children, based on his belief that music is the natural outcome of speech, rhythm and movement. - the Orff approach to music education is many sided; it is concerned with practical music-making, it provides fundamental experiences and it lays the foundation for a comprehensive musical training. That challenge has been taken up by teachers worldwide. Murray Edition English adaption, with additional material, by Margaret Murray. Besed on, and containing all the rhythmic and instrumental material from the main five volumes of the original German edition. Contents of this fourth volume: Songs and pieces using the full range of the aeolian, dorian and phrygian modes. Accompaniements are founded on drone bass with the later addition of simple chords.

Violin and piano - intermediate to advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q53351 Op. 9/3. Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Edited by Wolfgang Birtel. Arranged by J. W. Slatter. This edition: Sheet music. (c) 2020 Schott Music GmbH & Co. KG, Mainz. Classical. Downloadable. Op. 9/3. 7 pages. Schott Music - Digital #Q53351. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q53351). English • German.Peter I. Tchaikovsky wrote Trois Morceaux op. 9 for piano in 1870: the third of these in D minor is titled ‘Mazurka de salon’. This is a reworked setting of a movement from his stage work ‘Dmitry the Pretender and Vasily Shuysky’, the ‘Introduction and Mazurka from the dramatic historical chronicle by Aleksandr N. Ostrovsky’ (dating from 1866/67), which the composer transcribed for piano in June 1867. John W. Slatter, who arranged other pieces for Schott publishers, set this pretty Mazurka for violin and piano – a graceful little dance movement suitable for playing as an encore or for music-making at home. Plate nos. 02418 (piano part) and 02417 (violin part), published after 1913.
