Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1158411 Composed by Dr. Daniel N. Thrower. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,Historic. 33 pages. Https://gildedmusicpress.com/ #758693. Published by https://gildedmusicpress.com/ (A0.1158411). The year 2022 marked a milestone for the United States Air Force, as the world’s greatest airpower celebrated 75 years of air and space dominance. Omaha’s classical radio station was also celebrating a milestone year with its 50th anniversary. The resulting composition, cleverly titled “On the Air,†was written to observe both momentous anniversaries. The introduction plays on a cleverly adapted four-bar rhythmic motif that repeats, each time growing in intensity, conjuring images of a radio newsroom about to air breaking news. This opening rhythm is derived from Morse code letters K, V, N, & O (__ . __ | . . . __ | __ . | __ __ __), which is Omaha’s classical radio station. The main melodic theme begins after the intense introduction, stemming from the KVNO motif, and exudes energy worthy of the greatest of celebrations, replete with trumpets punctuating the strains with fanfare-like figures. After the KVNO transition to an exciting new key, the theme occurs a second time in the trumpets before simmering down to the second theme in a slower tempo, intended to be retrospective of the last 75 and 50 years of the two celebrating entities. In homage to the conflicts, sacrifices, and losses during 75 years of Air Force history, this melancholy melody in the horn repeats in octaves with horn and tuba, contrasting with the opening jubilation. However, without starkly “snapping back†to a celebratory mood, the original theme gently makes its reentry in the form of a mellow waltz with duetting trumpets, as a hopeful look to the future. The second iteration of the waltz brings back hints of the Morse code letters in the introduction, as underlying accompaniment to build energy and drive. It pivots fully with the KVNO introductory motif that changes keys while exploding with the recapitulation of the original full theme, intensifying the celebratory mood for the present festivities. The waltz version of the theme comes back, fragmented, hinting toward a fugato treatment. The non-fugal fragmentation is laced with virtuosically ornamented accompanimental lines reminiscent of a British-style brass band, and quickly settles into a full climactic presentation of the waltz iteration. The work ends full circle, with repeated KVNO rhythmic statements, in grand fashion for a firework finale.

One of my last assignments as an Air Force musician before being stationed in Japan was to perform music in support of the 50th commemoration of what has become known in America as “Vietnam Memorial Day.” It is observed on March 29 every year, the date when the last U.S. troops withdrew from Vietnam in 1973. After the memorable ceremony in 2023, I lingered to talk with those mature veterans and to hear some of their experiences. It was a strange feeling when I told them that my first assignment at my new duty station in Japan would be a series of cultural exchange performances in Vietnam. What a somber generational bridge.I was only in Japan for a matter of days, including some intense rehearsals, before Pacific Brass (the brass quintet from the U.S. Air Force Band of the Pacific) packed up and headed to Hanoi to start our brief musical outreach in three cities. My reflections were sobering as I contrasted my military service in Vietnam with the veterans whom I had just honored three months prior. During some off-duty time, all five of the Pacific Brass military musicians found our way to the well-known Hòa Ló Prison, infamously known as the “Hanoi Hilton.” Indeed, how vastly different was my brief military service in Vietnam! To the Vietnamese people, the “American War,” as they call it, is ancient history. They are extremely forward-thinking, putting those dark years far from them, looking to the bright future that is theirs. What an educational bridge of paradigms. Although it was important for us as U.S. Servicemembers to witness the Hòa Ló Prison firsthand, our lot was to experience the beautiful present-day Vietnam with its rich culture of food, street shops, temples, dance, music, and other wonders that awed us all—including gongs! Our trombone player purchased a gong in a shop that sold little else besides gongs of all sizes and pitches. That struck me as quintessentially Vietnamese, and the sights and sounds of that modest shop lingered in my imagination. As we absorbed the extraordinary majesty of the Temple of Literature in Hanoi, ideas for this musical composition started to formulate as a bridge connecting American musical culture with Vietnamese traditional gongs. For practicality in both notation and live performance, I scored the consort of 18 glorious “gongs” in my head for orchestral tubular bells. It is a passionate hope that someday in a video presentation, a masterful cultural bridge of the two diverse countries will be crafted. Better yet, what an experience it would be to have a legitimate gong consort perform live with Pacific Brass! The year of our visit, as we were coached many times by the Embassy’s Attaché, was a milestone landmark between the two nations, worthy of praise and celebration: the ten-year anniversary of the U.S.-Vietnam Comprehensive Partnership, signed by Presidents Obama and Sang in July 2013. This bilateral relationship has bridged both nations’ commitment to economic engagement, cultural exchange, tourism, education, and human rights. This composition is in celebration of this Comprehensive Partnership and a gift to the wonderful people of Vietnam. May this music contribute to a continuing growth of positive relations bridging the two nations.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1393223 By Stacey Plays Hymns. By Henry Francis Lyte / Stacey Plays Hymns. Arranged by Anastace. Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. Score. 10 pages. Anastace #976704. Published by Anastace (A0.1393223). Here is the full piano vocal version of “The Leaves Around Me Fallingâ€, as heard on my YouTube channel and in many comforting, beautiful funeral playlists. This version is in A minor to suit singers with higher voices [the melody extends from D4-D5 for a comfortable soprano range], and has the exact piano accompaniment as well as full melody and lyrics for a soloist or choir. It works well as a solo or congregational song for any autumn or funeral service, featuring the meaningful lyrics of Henry Francis Lyte reminding us of the swiftness of this life, and the hope we have for the life beyond. Also included at the end of the file is a separate printout of both the piano and vocal parts separately for ease of practice and rehearsal. The original hymn was very beautiful but I thought a minor setting would be more fitting for the solemn lyrics, so I wrote an entirely new melody and harmonic arrangement, which can be found on all streaming platforms as well as Youtube, where lyric videos of this and other songs are readily available for church or personal use. Not just a hymn for September and October, I've found myself going back to this song often, as it captures the rich beauty and yet sadness of the autumn season, and still somehow brings comfort amidst the fast-changing seasons of the earth and of our lives. I hope you also are blessed by this song and arrangement! Also available, by searching Stacey Plays Hymns and the song title on this site, are the following versions:Piano and Vocal in E Minor for easier playing [vocal range A3-A4]Piano and Vocal in F Minor to match the original recording [vocal range Bb3-Bb4]Lead Sheet Version in F Minor [vocal range Bb3-Bb4] [as well as more detailed chords]Lead Sheet Version in E Minor for easier playing [vocal range A3-A4]For other formats including large print, different vocal ranges, or extended choral SATB versions, please write me at staceyplayshymns@gmail.com and I'll be glad to make them especially for you. Purchase includes a free license for one church service with under 300 people, with proper attribution and credit in any printed or online materials. For a license to use this work on a larger scale, please contact me for permission and other usage details including lyrics formatted for printing in church bulletins or for powerpoint. Please let me know if there is any other way I can serve you as a congregation or fellow music/choir director as I endeavour to write several new choral anthems per year, along with my other recording work.Thank you for supporting modern hymnwriters and musicians!

Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit - For String Orquestra

Large Ensemble Cello,Double Bass,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.889436 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Luis Anjos Teixeira. Baroque,Concert,Contemporary,Easter,Standards. Score and parts. 11 pages. Luis Anjos Teixeira #4737807. Published by Luis Anjos Teixeira (A0.889436). The cantata „Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit, BWV 106- „God`s Time Is The Very Best Time, ranks among Bach's most important works. It is a work of genius such as even great masters seldom achieve. The Actus tragicus belongs to the great musical literature of the world. Although Bach's manuscript is lost, the work is agreed to be one of the earliest Bach cantatas, probably composed during the year he spent in Mühlhausen 1707/1708 as organist of theDivi Blasil church, at the age of 22. Various funerals known to have taken place at this time have been proposed as the occasion for the composition, for example that of his uncle Tobias Lämmerhirt from his mother's family, who died inErfurt on 10 August 1707, and that of Adolph Strecker, a former mayor of Mühlhausen, whose funeral was 16 September 1708. The earliest surviving manuscript, in the hand of Christian Friedrich Penzel, was copied in 1768 after Bach's death. It introduced the title Actus tragicus. The cantata was published in 1876 as part of the first complete edition of Bach's works: the Bach-Gesellschaft-Ausgabe, edited by Wilhelm Rust. The text consists of different Bible passages from the Old and New Testament, as well as individual verses of hymns by Martin Lither and Adam Reusner, which all together refer to finiteness, preparation for death and dying. The Arrangement is relatively easy to perform, also appropriate for beginners. It is an ideal piece for advanced performers, this music touches deep into the Soul. The piece was arranged for modern instruments, I introduced some embellishments and interpretation symbols thus shortening the length of some notes, but no notes where otherwise changed or omitted in this arrangement. Also the original placement of the voices is totally respected, the structure of the piece was simply left as it was composed in its original form. Bach scored the instrumental parts for a small ensemble of Baroque instruments two recorders, two violas da gamba and continuo. I propose an interpretation for a modern string orquestra or a string quintet in this arrangement. You should feel Free to apply in this piece the Art and technic that expresses entirely your individual skills, Your taste and Soul. If the orquestra only has one double bass I would recommend you to reenforce the bass with a cello. It can be very well performed by a „string quintet- a string quartet with a double bass. Have fun! It is a piece that can be used in many different kinds of situations, in a serious concert hall, or a funeral, in Easter or even Christmas celebrations and all other kinds of Spiritual events. When performed Live It will give you back a great feedback from the public, you will always want to have it in your repertoire. The score was written on Finale. The sound file was produced with samplers from Garritan and conceived merely as an audio support for the presentation of this score. Thank you very much for taking your time to read this text and to listen to the file. I hope you have a lot of fun and enjoy the music. Sheers! Luis Anjos Teixeira Thanks to Claudia Eppelt for the all the Love, the wonderful painting and cover design. Special Thanks to Johann Sebastian Bach, Stray Dog Nina, Stray Queen Mimi, Carlinhos, Maria Pontinha, Maria Joaninha, Schwarzenegger, Maria Koboldinha. Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.532734 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Paul Wehage. Baroque. 21 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #1917. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.532734). The Aria with 30 variations which form the work which is known as the « Goldberg » variations is one of the greatest works of Bach. It is his only work which uses the form of variations and through three series of ten variations each, it explores a myriad of musical genres and styles. The initial Aria, which seems to be rather trite and banal at the beginning of the work, is magnified through these transformations and the da capo at the end brings us back to the beginning, which has been changed by the musical journey itself. As a sort of musical « initiation », it has become a work which sparks the imagination and which creates an atmosphere all it’s own. The story of how the work came to be written has to come to us through Bach’s first biographer, Johann Nikolaus Forkel in 1805, seventy-five years after the death of Bach. It would seem that a certain Count Keyserlingk, the Russian Ambassador to the Court of Dresden, had difficulty sleeping and asked Bach to compose a work which his protégé, a harpsichord virtuoso by the name of Goldberg, could play in a salon near his bedroom to help him sleep in the evening. For this commission, Bach was to receive the largest fee of his life, a hundred louis d’or in a golden goblet. It would seem that this story is perhaps more of a legend than anything else, as no goblet was found in Bach’s estate at the end of his life and no documented proof of this story has been found. Goldberg was indeed a student of C. P. E Bach, Bach’s son and the son might have asked his father to write these works for his brilliant student. No manuscript for the Goldberg Variations exists, only a first edition corrected in the hand of Bach which contains certain tempo indications and other markings. The first edition also carried the following title: « Clavierübung, consisting of an Aria with diverse variations for the Harpsichord with two manuals composed for music lovers to refresh their spirits by J. S. Bach ». In this version for Saxophone Quartet, it is important to remember that Bach was writing for the harpsichord and not for the Piano-forte. Bach did indeed know of the Piano-forte and played one of the first instruments produced, but it would seem that he did not care much for this new instrument. To find something akin to the precise, clearly defined attacks of the harpsichord, precise articulation and clarity of sound must be the first priority. In general, even in the slowest movements, the attacks must take precedent over all other elements of performance. If the need for clarity of line and precision of attack is respected, the inherent musicality contained in the work should be evident, even in this new form.. As Bach himself transcribed many of his own works and those of others, I would like to hope that he would find this question to be interesting and the results to be surprising...

Arranged by Paul Wehage. Baroque,Standards. 21 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #1923. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.532736). Published by PRB Music (A0.1382422). After being locked down by Covid, I had almost lost the will to live, let alone go on holiday again outside the UK. Two years before I had had a lovely time in Italy, visiting Rome, Pisa, Puccini's House, Florence, Sienna, and more. Almost at the end of the trip I stayed a couple of days with my dear musical friends in Perugia, where their then 8-year-old daughter, Martha, was making great strides forward on the violin (mum is a concert pianist and teacher, similarly dad, but on the clarinet. I had booked to stay in Cesena where they had moved two, and I had a lovely time here, two, adding Bologna, Rossini's Museum, Rimini and some of the Adriatic coast to my list of places visited. They, too, had had lockdowns, and cancellations, but quite by chance, the weekend I had planned to be in Cesena, was the rearranged date of a special outside concert in the imposing surroundings of Rocca Malatestiana, a medieval fortress than dominates the town. Martha was going to be performing a violin concerto by Rode, and her dad had adapted the orchestral accompaniment, so that the large clarinet ensemble could take its place on the night. It was a wonderful, moving evening, and Martha played so well. I don't think there was a dry eye in the house! When I knew I was visiting them this year, I wrote Martha a little fun piece, with piano accompaniment, that she might have been able to play while I was there. But because of the rescheduled concerto performance, there just wasn't enough time for her to learn and practise the piece with her violin teacher in Bologna. I even added an optional part for clarinet, so dad would not feel left out. Hopefully, one day, I might still hear Waltz for Martha played by its dedicatees! It's a kind of schmalzy Viennese Waltz, in the style of Kreisler and others! You can purchase the piano score and violin part here. The optional clarinet part is available FREE OF CHARGE - by emailing info@philiprbuttall.co.uk.

(Choral) - Digital Download SKU: H1.8606DP Author Collections. Hymntune, General Worship. Hymn Collection. 163 pages. Hope Publishing - Digital #8606DP. Published by Hope Publishing - Digital (H1.8606DP). Shirley Erena Murray. While not much concerned about posterity, I offer this collection for the here and now, as a kind of spiritual autobiography of the years since writing 'Touch the Earth Lightly' (Hope, 2009). The themes will tell you that I have not ceased to centre on peace, partnered with justice, as these related to our own faith journey. But now that I find my life further away from the church and closer to what Jesus is actually pointing to, new elements come into play. Here is one: I have used the words of the hymn 'A Place at the Table' as title for this book, because there are still Christian people not welcome, either at the communion table or at the common table of society. . . . Creating justice and joy means walking into the territory of basic human rights, as Jesus did. It means being aware of our own fragility as well as our planet's, and using technology wisely. . . . Because I live in a highly secular society in Aotearoa/New Zealand, I am conscious of how the stereotypes of Christianity can be cynically dismissed. I long to say that there is so much to understand and embrace in the wisdom, spiritual treasury and survival skills that Jesus has given the world. It is also an interfaith and interactive world I live in, so some of these texts reflect my hope for the 'care and connection making us kin' that seems imperative for our human survival. . . . These hymns - be they attempting the pastoral, the prophetic or the impossible - are my present way to express this for myself, and hopefully, for you. - Shirley Erena Murray

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.889437 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Luis Anjos Teixeira. Baroque,Concert,Contemporary,Easter,Standards. 11 pages. Luis Anjos Teixeira #4741949. Published by Luis Anjos Teixeira (A0.889437). Although Bach's manuscript is lost, the work is agreed to be one of the earliest Bach cantatas, probably composed during the year he spent in Mühlhausen 1707/1708 as organist of the Divi Blasil church, at the age of 22. I propose an interpretation for a modern woodwind quintet in this arrangement. You should feel Free to apply in this piece the Art and technic that expresses entirely your individual skills, Your taste and Soul. Have fun! It is a piece that can be used in many different kinds of situations, from the serious concert hall to a funeral, in Easter or even Christmas celebrations and all other kinds of Spiritual events. For all Living beings on Earth, for all our Ancestors, Thank You for all of You All Your Love and Compassion. Love Forever. Luis Anjos Teixeira

Piano,Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1043239 Composed by Edward Elgar. Arranged by Diego Marani. Classical,Instructional,Patriotic,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 18 pages. Diego Marani #647927. Published by Diego Marani (A0.1043239). The best known March of the set, it had its premiere in Liverpool on 19 October 1901, with Elgar conducting the Liverpool Orchestral Society. The Trio contains the tune known as Land of Hope and Glory. In 1902 the tune was re-used, in modified form, for the Land of hope and glory section of his Coronation Ode for King Edward VII. The words were further modified to fit the original tune, and the result has since become a fixture at the Last Night of the Proms, and an English sporting anthem. In the United States, the Trio section Land of Hope and Glory of March No. 1 is often known simply as Pomp and Circumstance or as The Graduation March and is played as the processional tune at virtually all high school and some college graduation ceremonies. It was first played at such a ceremony on 28 June 1905, at Yale University, where the Professor of Music Samuel Sanford had invited his friend Elgar to attend commencement and receive an honorary doctorate of music. Elgar accepted, and Sanford made certain he was the star of the proceedings, engaging the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, the College Choir, the Glee Club, the music faculty members, and New York musicians to perform two parts from Elgar's oratorio The Light of Life and, as the graduates and officials marched out, Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1. Elgar repaid the compliment by dedicating his Introduction and Allegro to Sanford later that year. The tune soon became de rigueur at American graduations, used primarily as a processional at the opening of the ceremony. This arrangement for trombone or euphonium (C and Bb) with piano is suitable for classroom, repertoire and recital.

This arrangement for cello with piano is suitable for classroom, repertoire and recital.
