String Quartet String Quartet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1156755 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. 39 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #757086. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.1156755). I have been a fan of the music by Heitor Villa-Lobos since my teenage years in São Paulo, Brazil, 1959-66. It was there when I first first heard his Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5, with soprano solo and eight cellos. The memory of that music will forever haunt me. I then recently discovered through a CD box set recorded by the Cuarteto Latinoamericano that Villa-Lobos wrote 17 string quartets. I guess he wanted to beat the number of string quartets that Beethoven wrote which is 16. So this being my 17th string quartet I wanted to pay homage to Villa-Lobos and dedicate this work to him, in memoriam. I took his first string quartet as a model, in terms of the titles he gave to the movements of that work. I. Cantilena … Andante II. Brincadeira … Allegretto scherzando III. Canto lÃrico … Moderato IV. Cançoneta … Andantino quasi allegretto V. Saltando como um Saci … Presto VI. Melancolia … Lento, Andante NB: the titles of the movements for the rest of his string quartets (nos. 2 to 17) have the same standard classical four-movement designations of fast/allegro, slow/adagio, scherzo and fast/allegro. credits.

Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.553105 Composed by Erik Satie. Arranged by Scott Camp. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary,Standards,Wedding. Score. 3 pages. Scott Camp #4625347. Published by Scott Camp (A0.553105). Beautiful.Iconic.Enigmatic.I suppose this piece by Erik Satie has always touched the heartstrings of listeners. The harmonic language anticipates many sonorities that have become essential to later popular and jazz piano. Is this an example of a one hit wonder? It is undeniably famous, as evidenced by its continued use as background music for television ads of high end luxury goods. I often wonder what Satie eventually thought of this piece. This Gymnopedie is obviously his best known work, so I wonder if it also stands out as having generated the most revenue for Satie. If so, why didn't he replicate its success? Did he understand what he himself had created? So many questions... I guess I'll have to ask Alexa.

Ayotte Custom Musical Engravings #2347283. Published by Ayotte Custom Musical Engravings (A0.733028). Almost everybody and his mother on the Planet have written their own arrangements of Amazing Grace so I guess I should not be the exception. Amazing Grace (And Then some) is written for Solo Tuba, accompanied by a wind band. I was inspired to write this chart by a young man named Brandon Jones who lives in the Mobile, Alabama area. He was about 20 years old at the time of this writing (in 2012). He wanted to dedicate it to his father who had died when Brandon was about 4 or 5 years old. My arrangement of Amazing Grace (And Then Some) is not just another theme and variations type of work. Instead, I have interwoven two additional hymns (Praise to the Lord, the Almighty and I Will Sing of My Redeemer) in order to break up the monotony of just the one hymn (hence the subtitle And Then Some) Oh, did I mention that Brandon plays a C tuba that was passed down from his father?

Choral Choir,Choral (SAB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.507484 By Alan Wagstaff. By Alan Wagstaff. Arranged by Alan Wagstaff. Christmas,Country,Praise & Worship. 26 pages. Alan Wagstaff #118734. Published by Alan Wagstaff (A0.507484). This is a country-style waltz, arranged for choir (SAB) and fiddle, harp and piano, which searches for the true meaning of Christmas. here is the lyric: Crossed Out of ChristmasA Good Man was framed, on a bare, rocky hill; it happened somewhere in the distance. Though He paid a high cost, He was not double-crossed, till the day He was crossed out of Christmas. ‘X’ marks the spot where a word is crossed out; ‘X’ marks the strange and suspicious. ‘X’ marks a treasure, without any doubt, since the day Christ was crossed out of Christmas. The shops and the super-stores tell us the news; the signs. say that X-mas is here. And the message is hurled, right around the whole world –but something seems missing this year. ‘X’ marks the spot where a word is crossed out; ‘X’ marks the strange and suspicious. ‘X’ marks a treasure, without any doubt, since the day Christ was crossed out of Christmas. I want to re-write, on this parcel tonight, a word that somehow came adrift. Christmas! Christmas! Christmas! Lord God! ‘cos that is the true Christmas gift. Christmas and X-mas ain’t one and the same, and I guess there is only one reason. So let’s do it right, and by starlight tonight, we’ll unwrap the power of the season. ‘X’ marks the spot where a word is crossed out; ‘X’ marks the strange and suspicious. ‘X’ marks a treasure, without any doubt, since the day Christ was crossed out of Christmas.

Baruch HaBa is hebrew for Blessed is He who Comes... (in the name of the LORD). This is a quote from Psalm 118:26 - (Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the LORD). This is also what the people were quoting when they welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem in Matthew 21:9. Later, in Matthew 23:38, as Jesus laments of Jerusalem he uses this same phrase, saying Behold, your house is being left to you desolate! 39 For I say to you, from now on you will not see Me until you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ So this was after they had already welcomed him, and now I guess are about to betray Him. Some people thinks this means Jesus will not return the 2nd time til the Jewish people say Blessed is Jesus who comes in the name of the LORD! So this song celebrates Jesus first coming, and invites his next coming.

Published by Nicholas Adkins (A0.1033938). The Road to New Andreas is the second piece in a narrative cycle of 3 pieces written for tuba as the main instrument. Unlike the piece that comes beforehand, this work is for two tubas and piano. Once the member of the caravan gets out of the mountain, he sees their destination ahead of them: the last city on Earth. He sees his caravan coming out of the mountain pass, and he runs to them, excited to see them. To get to the city, they must journey along a long and dangerous road to the city, which runs right through a gigantic forest that separates the mountain pass and the city. They have heard rumors of a giant monster that lives in the forest, but that he doesn't attack people on the road. I guess they will find out whether the rumor is true...

Full Performance. Duration 228. David Kai #708503. Published by David Kai (A0.1105243). A Newfoundland Christmas song about wishing to be back home for Christmas. THEY’LL BE ON THE ROCK THIS CHRISTMAS words and music by David Kai ©1997 They’ll come from far as Whitehorse and as close as Sydney Mines, They’re packing up their suitcases and their boxes tied with twine, They’re getting on those airplanes, Dash 8s and DC 9s, Driving to the ferry docks and they’re waiting there in line. And they'll be on the Rock this Christmas, where stars shine twice as bright, They'll be on the Rock this Christmas, greeting mummers every night, Yarning ‘round the wood stove, eating partridgeberry pie, And I’ll be wondering “Why, oh why aren’t I?†‘Cause I’ll be in the factory, pulling double overtime, No one wants the Christmas shift so I guess that makes it mine, Late tonight I’ll light a candle in my lonely room, And think of those who are traveling home, ‘cause I know that very soon, That they'll be on the Rock this Christmas, where stars shine twice as bright, Yeah, they'll be on the Rock this Christmas, greeting mummers every night, Yarning ‘round the wood stove eating partridgeberry pie, And I’ll be wondering “Why, oh why aren’t I?†I’ve got to get there somehow, this poor soul’s just too homesick, My busted car won’t take me far, but my thumb will do the trick. I’ll call the boss from Port aux Basques, hope he’s in the mood to see, ‘Though I may choose to leave the Rock, it’s the Rock that won’t leave me. And I'll be on the Rock this Christmas, where stars shine twice as bright, Yeah, I'll be on the Rock this Christmas, greeting mummers every night, Yarning ‘round the wood stove, eating partridgeberry pie, And no more wondering “Why, oh why aren’t I?†Optional extra chorus: And we'll be on the Rock this Christmas, where stars shine twice as bright, Yeah, we'll be on the Rock this Christmas, greeting mummers every night, Yarning ‘round the wood stove, eating partridgeberry pie, And no more wondering “Why, oh why aren’t I?†Tag: No, no more wondering “Why, oh why aren’t I?â€.

Guitar,Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1377044 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,21st Century,Chamber,Classical,Contemporary. Score. 61 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #961650. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.1377044). I came across Douglas R. Hofstadter's book Gödel, Escher, Bach when I was a doctoral student at Harvard University, 1977-81. I guess I bought it because I saw the name Bach on its cover. I have to confess however that I was unable to go through it all; the Gödel theorems and others were beyond my elementary knowledge of math and science. Early this summer I accidentally found an article in The Atlantic about a conversation between Sami Al-Suwailem and Professor Hofstadter regarding a question that the former presented to the LLM (large-language-model), ChatGPT: Why Did I Write GEB? NB: GEB is an acronym of Gödel, Escher, Bach. The conversation between them about ChatGPT was hilarious; basically Hofstadter said ChatGPT is ridiculously clumsy and inept. I, on the other hand, immediately thought: wouldn't it be fun to set excerpts of the GEB text in a song cycle for tenor and piano?I wrote to Prof. Hofstadter and he was enthusiastic about my idea of a GEB song cycle and encouraged me to go ahead. After reading through the tome of 700-plus pages (and skimming through the over my head mathematical parts), I came up with eight paragraphs of texts which I set to music.1. A Fugue is ...2. Fishes and Scales ...3. Bach and Cage ...4. The Carroll Dialogue ...5. Crab Canon ...6. The Brain's Ants ...7. Is 15 wondrous, or unwondrous?8. The Origin of Life ...

Score. 5 pages. Sarah Bonsignore #761406. Published by Sarah Bonsignore (A0.1161083). Hi Pianists! Here is a new piece I composed just this morning. I was chatting to my mom in South Africa yesterday, and she requested some new music for her upcoming birthday(preferably me singing another aria), but I woke up with this in my head early this morning and so I got to work. It reminded me a little of all the Chopin waltzes I played many moons ago, and it made me sad that he died at the young age of 39, so I decided to call it The Birthday Waltz. Chopin's music really shaped the way I hear melody, and I love his body of work. And my mom has always been my biggest fan, coach and champion, so I hope she likes this piece, and I guess Ill go and record an aria for her now!!! ps I think this piece will be a great preparation for students who are eager to learn some Chopin Waltzes. It sounds harder than it is and I think it's fun to play (and even my husband loved hearing it all day). I hope you enjoy it too.

Published by Johnson Gao (A0.1007008). <兵車行> (Chariot Marching) is the poet written by Du Fu in the Tang Dynasty (AD 712-770). He wrote the <Chariot Marching>, dated back about 1300 years before. There are two difficulties in composing that song: 1. It must show a magnificent marching spirit, at the sametime it must also express grief and resentment. 2. It is not easy to arange the long and short sentences in a reasonable chorus for the repeated melody. On November 11, 2018, it coincided with the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War. Leaders of various countries gathered in Paris, France to hold a celebration. I guess, none words of any speakers of that meeting will have more vitality than Du Fu’s <Chariot Marching> to the future history, simply because Life is short. Art is long.

Piano Trio No. 1 Poets and Prophets (piano score – piano, vln, cel) MO160APiano Score (parts available)Music by Mark O’Connor51 pages - 29:00 minutes in lengthI. Man In BlackII. The Tennessee TwoIII. My JuneIV. Hello, I’m Johnny CashPiano Trio No. 1 (Poets and Prophets) was composed by Mark O’Connor during the Fall of 2003. The piece was commissioned for the Eroica Trio by a noted patron for music, Kathryn Gould of Palo Alto, California. The world premiere took place at the Montalvo Chamber Music Series in California, March 5th, 2004. In a letter to the members of the trio dated 9/20/03, Mr. O’Connor lays out his plan for the new music. My initial ideas have sort of exploded in to the entire concept of the music with a real impact actually. Now I am piecing together the parts of it and then will eventually work on detail as I get the overall form under wrap. Here is what my inspiration for the music is; Johnny Cash.Johnny was a boyhood hero of mine, I used to sing his songs when I was 8, 9 and 10 years old, and played the guitar like him (sometimes up the fretboard strumming away). My mom used to help me transcribe all the lyrics off the albums, she also thought he hung the moon. As you can imagine, the passing of Cash for me this last week has been emotional. I am at my very best when I compose with my emotions at my sleeve, and guess what, it is time to do the Eroica piece. And I believe I will be able to craft a very unique tribute in to the form of a Piano Trio. There is something that is very fitting in all of this though. Cash was one of the few country music and rockabilly musicians to appeal to all ages, all types of people all the way into the MTV generation which is something that is hard to fathom. That one person can move musical mountains with his charisma and his voice. He sung about the prisons, riding the trains, about killing, and living, about lost love, about the gospel, about the downtrodden and the Native American, and about being stoned. His musical sound was the thing that got everybody though. He developed along with his guitar player Luther Perkins, a new and vibrant way to bring the music out.I also knew Johnny and worked with him, visited him privately at his home. Johnny also appeared on my album called Heroes, where he brought back the great story of the Devil coming down to Georgia to challenge young Johnny for the golden fiddle. My job now is to bridge what I am feeling about my inspiration for Cash, and bring it in to the instruments that I love writing for.I might not have imagined that this Johnny Cash concept would have worked out of hand, if it hadn’t been for your musicianship, insight fullness and graceful approaches in to the details of musical concepts and style. If the piece is good, then I will have no doubt that you will bring it to the forefront so others can grasp the intentions of the work, and in addition for others to enjoy playing it after you have brought it all out in to the open, and gave it a life. Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.841928 Composed by Andrew Mc Donald. Christian,Gospel,Pop. Score. 6 pages. Andrew Mc Donald (Macka Records) #3479571. Published by Andrew Mc Donald (Macka Records) (A0.841928). Unexpected is a song about what Jesus did kept everyone guessing. The Pharisees and disciples and even his mother Mary was not expecting Jesus to be raised from the dead even though He had told them He would. I think it is wonderful how we cannot put Jesus in a box. He is the one who can blow our box apart and think outside it.

Alto Voice,Guitar - Digital Download SKU: A0.1059328 Composed by David Warin Solomons. 20th Century. Full Performance. Duration 259. David Warin Solomons #2054329. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.1059328). Score:https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/19984192?aff_id=175705Setting of the poem by S N Solomons based on Supervielle's L'Aube dans la chambre for alto and classical guitar. Performed by the composer ... The first light comes, touching the sleeping mind, stroking the head, confirming who it is. Colours prick through the window pane, with silent customary tread. Pale light from Palestine and Java leans over the bed and spreads. Grey light reluctant to leave China powders the glass deepens its image as you come close. Yellow light strokes the window pane, sombre light stains the human comedy sprawled on the bed. And then the watching soul immanent, anxious says All is still well. The substance of our days is whole. No greater pain exists than to feel pain no more, with the soul helpless before locked doors. Alas Time will arrive, and death deprive. Meanwhile take I delight flattering his form guessing his contour beneath the sheets; sensing his blood seeking complexity, feeling his hands fleeting, stirred by some dream; leaving no trace in Time or Space. Let me think no more thoughts for fear he may wake. Let me be quieter than the leaf that grows. Or the rose..
