Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1104138 Composed by H.W. Petrie. Arranged by F. Leslie Smith. 19th Century,Children,Comedy,Pop,Wedding. 28 pages. Sweetwater Brass Press #707372. Published by Sweetwater Brass Press (A0.1104138).      Howard W. Petrie was a composer of popular music active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. One of his most popular songs was “I Don’t Want to Play in Your Yard,†published early in his career, 1894. The song underwent a revival in the mid-1950s when Peggy Lee recorded it. It also figured prominently in the popular 1981 film Reds. Lyrics are credited to Philip Wingate, and his first verse sets up the story. Two little girls were next-door neighbors and best of friends. One day, however, a quarrel arose and “hot tears were shared.†One announced, “You can’t play in our yard.†The reply of the other forms the familiar chorus: I don't want to play in your yard, I don't like you any more, You'll be sorry when you see me sliding down our cellar door, You can't holler down our rain-barrel, you can't climb our apple tree, I don't want to play in your yard, if you won't be good to me.      The second verse tells of the reconciliation. The two girls miss each other. They kiss and make up and remain friends “all thro’ life.†But “in sweet dreams of childhood†we still remember the controversy of the yard.      This version features the group's Trumpets somewhat taking the roles of the two little girls. It retains the F major key in which it was written, changes tempo four times (in addition to a few rallentando/a tempo instructions) and includes two short, rather simple cadenzas, one for each Trumpet. It starts (rather incongruously!) with the eight 4/4 measures of “Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary†then transitions to ¾ for the remainder of the piece.      Trumpets predominate with melody and lead. However Horn and Trombone do occasionally come to the fore to provide introductions, call-and-response figures and recapitulations. Both Trumpets play a few notes above their staff—G# and A—but for the most part, all instruments perform within their normal playing range. Performance time is about three and a half minutes to perform.      Completed in 2022, performance time runs about 3 minutes, 34 seconds. The arranger, Les Smith, will be happy to provide substitute parts (for example, treble clef baritone for trombone) at no charge. He would like to receive your suggestions, comments, corrections and criticisms. For more arrangements by Les, enter Sweetwater Brass Press (without the quotation marks) in the Sheet Music Plus or Sheet Music Direct search box. (Also, purchase of this piece entitles you to your choice of another of his arrangements at no charge; send a copy of your purchase receipt directly to him at lessmith61@bellsouth.net.).

Joybells Ringing Songs of Praise (Collection of 10 Hymns for One Octave Handbell Choir with Piano)
Bells,Handbell,Handchime,Piano Accompaniment - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.13587…
(+)
Bells,Handbell,Handchime,Piano Accompaniment - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1358777 By Sharon Wilson. By African-American Spiritual, Chester G. Allen, Elisha Albright Hoffman, Fanny J. Crosby, Henri F. Hemy, John Bacchus Dykes, Reginald Heber, Robert Lowry, William H. Doane, and William J. Kirkpatrick. Arranged by Sharon Wilson. Children,Christian,Easter,Sacred,Traditional. 96 pages. Sharon Wilson #943238. Published by Sharon Wilson (A0.1358777). This collection contains 10 hymns and praise choruses arranged for a one octave, 13-note chromatic scale Handbell choir with Piano accompaniment. For each song, the Piano provides an introduction then the Handbells play the melody and occasional 2-part harmony. Most songs include an optional repeat and second ending in case a longer song is desired. For each song, there is a combined score with both instruments (Handbells and Piano) on a grand staff plus two separate scores for the Handbells (one in standard format with black and white notes and the second with color-coded notes). If the combined score is more than three pages, a separate Piano only score is also provided.A color-coded note chart is also provided for each song which shows the Handbell notes used as well as the number of times each note is played.  The note distribution is helpful when assigning notes to ringers. You may want to assign fewer notes to beginners or evenly distribute the bells between all ringers. On the color-coded score, only filled noteheads (quarter and eighth notes) are used so the notes are full color and easier to distinguish (this does not indicate the bells need to be silenced immediately before the next beat). Also, only quarter rests are used to help visualize the number of beats per measure. As a reminder for beginning ringers, all sharps and flats are displayed (shown in the key of C) on the color-coded score. As noted above, one of the Handbell scores for each song is color-coded for easier note reading for beginning ringers.  These separate color-coded scores use the Chroma-Notes™ Colored Music System. If you have a set of Handbells with a different color scheme, Chroma-Notes Stick Ons can be purchased and applied so the Handbells match this color scheme. The number of ringers needed will vary depending on the skill level of the participants. For more advanced players, each person could be assigned two or three notes. For beginners, it is best to assign one or two notes to each person. Note assignment suggestions are included for each song and range from 4 to 8 ringers. These familiar hymns and choruses are perfect for small groups and especially beginning ringers. Most songs can be performed with as few as 5 people (4 ringers and 1 piano player). The Piano accompaniment is written for an intermediate player.Permission is granted to make as many copies as needed for one family, church, school, or other performing group. Please purchase additional copies for multiple groups or organizations. Each song is also available separately with accompanying preview pages and audio samples. Song titles included in this collection:   Be Still and KnowFaith of Our FathersHoly, Holy, HolyKum Ba YahPraise Him! Soprano voice,Vocal Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.873044 Composed by Sally Whitwell. Contemporary. 12 pages. Sally Whitwell #6130719. Published by Sally Whitwell (A0.873044). If you really pushed me to make a call, Mussorsgky’s Pictures at an Exhibition would be one of my favourite pieces in the classical repertoire. Somewhat outrageously, for a pianist, I prefer the colours and textures of the orchestrated version. I reasonably regularly listen to it, especially in transit. But to be honest, it’s not the kind of music that I perform all that often i.e. music by dead, white, male composers. I mean, it’s 2020 and as the meme says I can’t believe I still have to protest this sh*t. And I feel it too for those in the visual art world. I mean, things are a good deal better over there in contemporary art world, where women are exhibited regularly and everyone seems to embrace it without a fuss. As for women artists from centuries gone by, it’s less good news but they’re working on it. I’m reminded of the situation daily as my older brother, who is excellent at choosing gifts thoughtfully, gave me some Guerrilla Girls merchandise which I use as an iPad cover. Entitled Advantages of Being a Woman Artist, it’s a list of truths that’s pretty relatable for any creative woman. My favourite bit - Being reassured that whatever kind of art you make it will be labeled feminine. Ooft. Too real. And so I conceived of this song cycle as a kind of gift for those fighting the traditional, patriarchal structures of the entire creative sector. Three songs, inspired by three works by three wonderful Australian women artists of last century. All are depictions of scenes around Sydney Harbour. In-curve is inspired by Grace Cossington Smith’s The Bridge in-curve, a depiction of an unfinished Sydney Harbour Bridge, painted in 1930 The Code is inspired by Thea Proctor’s woodcut print Women with fans. It is thought to be a portrait of two other artists, printmakers Ethel Spowers and Eveline Syme, sitting above Rushcutters Bay. Where would we sail? is inspired by a very different view of the same location Still life and Rushcutters Bay by Margaret Olley.

Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1270160 By Arlo Guthrie. By Arlo Guthrie. Arranged by Craig Hanson. A Cappella,Comedy,Folk. Octavo. 6 pages. Edition Craig Hanson #862589. Published by Edition Craig Hanson (A0.1270160). For TTBB chorus a cappella and solo voice. As performed by Arlo Guthrie.Wanna hear something? You know that Indians never ate clams. They didn't have linguini! And so what happened was that clams was allowed to grow unmolested in the coastal waters of America for millions of years. And they got big, and I ain't talking about clams in general, I'm talking about each clam! Individually. I mean each one was a couple of million years old or older. So imagine they could have got bigger than this whole room. And when they get that big, God gives them little feet so that they could walk around easier. And when they get feet, they get dangerous. I'm talking about real dangerous. I ain't talking about sitting under the water waiting for you. I'm talking about coming after you.Imagine being on one of them boats coming over to discover America, like Columbus or something, standing there at night on watch, everyone else is either drunk or asleep. And you're watching for America and the boat's going up and down. And you don't like it anyhow but you gotta stand there and watch, for what? Only he knows, and he ain't watching. You hear the waves lapping against the side of the ship. The moon is going behind the clouds. You hear the pitter patter of little footprints on deck. ‘Is that you kids?’ It ain't! My god! It's this humongous, giant clam!Imagine those little feet coming on deck. A clam twice the size of the ship. Feet first. You're standing there shivering with fear, you grab one of these. This is a belaying pin. They used to have these stuck in the holes all around the ship… You probably didn't know what this is for; you probably had an idea, but you were wrong. They used to have these stuck in the holes all along the sides of the ship, everywhere. You wouldn't know what this is for unless you was that guy that night.I mean, you'd grab this out of the hole, run on over there, bam bam on them little feet! Back into the ocean would go a hurt, but not defeated, humongous, giant clam. Ready to strike again when opportunity was better. You know not even the coastal villages was safe from them big clams. You know them big clams had an inland range of about 15 miles. Think of that. I mean our early pioneers and the settlers built little houses all up and down the coast you know. A little inland and stuff like that and they didn't have houses like we got now, with bathrooms and stuff. They built little privies out back. And late at night, maybe a kid would have to go, and he'd go stomping out there in the moonlight. And all they'd hear for miles around...(loud clap/belch).... One less kid for America. One more smiling, smurking, humongous, giant clam.So Americans built forts. Them forts --you know—them pictures of them forts with the wooden points all around. You probably thought them points was for Indians but that's stupid! 'Cause Indians know about doors. But clams didn't. Even if a clam knew about a door, so what? A clam couldn't fit in a door. I mean, he'd come stomping up to a fort at night, put them feet on them points, jump back crying, tears coming out of them everywhere. But Americans couldn't live in forts forever. You couldn't just build one big fort around America. How would you go to the beach? So what they did was they formed groups of people. I mean they had groups of people all up and down the coast form these little alliances. Like up North it was call the Clamshell Alliance. And farther down South it was called the Catfish Alliance. They had these Alliances all up and down the coast defending themselves against these threatening monsters. These humongous giant clams. Andt hey'd go out there, if there was maybe fifteen of them they'd be singing songs in fifteen part harmony. And when one part disappeared, that's how they knew where the clam would be.Which is why Americans only sing in four part harmony to this very day. That proved to be too dangerous. See, what they did was they'd be singing these songs called Clam Chanties, and they'd have these big spears called clampoons. And they'd be walking up and down the beach and the method they eventually devised where they'd have this guy, the most strongest heavy duty true blue American, courageous type dude they could find and they'd have him out there walking up and down the beach by himself with other chicken dudes hiding behind the sand dunes somewhere. He'd be singing the verses. They'd be singing the chorus, and clams would hear 'em. And clams hate music. So clams would come out of the water and they'd come after this one guy. And all you'd see pretty soon was flying all over the sand flying up and down the beach manmanclamclammanmanclam manclamclamman up and down the beach going this way and that way up the hills in the water out of the water behind the trees everywhere. Finally the man would jump over a big sand dune, roll over the side, the clam would come over the dune, fall in the hole and fourteen guys would come out there and stab the shit out of him with their clampoons. That's the way it was. That was one way to deal with them. The other way was to weld two clams together. [I don't believe it. I'm losing it. Hey. What can you do. Another night shot to hell.] Hey, this was serious back then. This was very serious. I mean these songs now are just piddly folk songs. But back then these songs were controversial. These was radical, almost revolutionary songs. Because times was different and clams was a threat to America. That's right. So we want to sing this song tonight about the one last... You see what they did was there was one man, he was one of these men, his name will always be remembered, his name was Reuben Clamzo, and he was one of the last great clam men there ever was. He stuck the last clam stab. The last clampoon into the last clam that was ever seen on this continent. Knowing he would be out of work in an hour. He did it anyway so that you and me could go to the beach in relative safety. That's right. Made America safe for the likes of you and me. And so we sing this song in his memory. He went into whaling like most of them guys did and he got out of that, when he died. You know, clams was much more dangerous than whales. Clams can run in the water, on the water or on the ground, and they are so big sometimes that they can jump and they can spread their kinda shells and kinda almost fly like one of them flying squirrels. You could be standing there thinking that your perfectly safe and all of a sudden whop.... That's true... And so this is the song of this guy by the name of Reuben Clamzo and the song takes place right after he stabbed this clam and the clam was, going through this kinda death dance over on the side somewhere. The song starts there and he goes into whaling and takes you through the next...I sing the part of the guy on the beach by himself. I go like this: Poor old Reuben Clamzo and you go Clamzo Boys Clamzo. That's the part of the fourteen chicken dudes over on the other side. That's what they used to sing. They'd be calling these clams out of the water. Like taunting them making fun of them. Clams would get real mad and come out. Here we go. I want you to sing it in case you ever have an occasion to join such an alliance. You know some of these alliances are still around. Still defending America against things like them clams. If you ever wants to join one, now you have some historic background. So you know where these guys are coming from. It's not just some 60's movement or something, these things go back a long time.Notice the distinction you're going to have to make now between the first and easy Clamzo Boys Clamzo and the more complicated Clamzo Me Boys Clamzo. Stay serious! Folk songs are serious. That's what Pete Seeger told me. Arlo I only want to tell you one thing... Folk songs are serious. I said right. Let's do it in C for Clam...Iet's do it in B... For boy that's a big clam... Iet' s do it in G for Gee, I hope that big clam don't see me. Let's do it in F... For …he sees me. Let's do it back in A...for a clam is coming. Better get this song done quick. The Story of Reuben Clamzo and His Strange Daughter in the Key of A.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1393221 By Stacey Plays Hymns. By Henry Francis Lyte / Stacey Plays Hymns. Arranged by Anastace. Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. Score. 10 pages. Anastace #976702. Published by Anastace (A0.1393221). Here is the full piano vocal version of “The Leaves Around Me Fallingâ€, as heard on my YouTube channel and in many comforting, beautiful funeral playlists. This version is in E minor to make it easier to play, and has the exact piano accompaniment as well as full melody and lyrics for a soloist or choir. It works well as a solo or congregational song for any autumn or funeral service, featuring the meaningful lyrics of Henry Francis Lyte reminding us of the swiftness of this life, and the hope we have for the life beyond. Also included at the end of the file is a separate printout of both the piano and vocal parts separately for ease of practice and rehearsal. The original hymn was very beautiful but I thought a minor setting would be more fitting for the solemn lyrics, so I wrote an entirely new melody and harmonic arrangement, which can be found on all streaming platforms as well as Youtube, where lyric videos of this and other songs are readily available for church or personal use. Not just a hymn for September and October, I've found myself going back to this song often, as it captures the rich beauty and yet sadness of the autumn season, and still somehow brings comfort amidst the fast-changing seasons of the earth and of our lives. I hope you also are blessed by this song and arrangement! Also available, by searching Stacey Plays Hymns and the song title on this site, are the following versions:Piano and Vocal in F Minor to match the original recording [vocal range Bb3-Bb4]Piano and Vocal in A Minor for higher voice [vocal range D4-D5]Lead Sheet Version in F Minor [vocal range Bb3-Bb4] [as well as more detailed chords]Lead Sheet Version in E Minor for easier playing [vocal range A3-A4]For other formats including large print, different vocal ranges, or extended choral SATB versions, please write me at staceyplayshymns@gmail.com and I'll be glad to make them especially for you. Purchase includes a free license for one church service with under 300 people, with proper attribution and credit in any printed or online materials. For a license to use this work on a larger scale, please contact me for permission and other usage details including lyrics formatted for printing in church bulletins or for powerpoint. Please let me know if there is any other way I can serve you as a congregation or fellow music/choir director as I endeavour to write several new choral anthems per year, along with my other recording work.Thank you for supporting modern hymnwriters and musicians!

Cello Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1375969 By Metallica. By James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, and Lars Ulrich. Arranged by Aaron Sinnett. 20th Century,Rock. Individual part. 4 pages. Aaron Sinnett #960521. Published by Aaron Sinnett (A0.1375969). The key signature is the same as the original. The melody has been simplified to reduce the amount of syncopation. This makes it immediately more accessible to earlier-level players. The melody also features twice. First, it is presented quite low in register, entirely in the first position; Second, it is raised up one octave to where it is found in the fourth position and lower. The cue notes were written with the intent to be played. So, have at them if you so choose. If you are intermediate level all of the notes on the page are manageable. This is a cello only version. If you are still working out some technique, leave out the cue notes (and higher melody—the second verse. The melody could be played twice in either the low or high register depending on your level.) Later, come back for those notes and passages that are more difficult after achieving the requisite skills. In general, I think that Metallica’s songs lend well to the cello’s register. I hope this will be a good experience for all.

Instrumental Duet Flute,Instrumental Duet,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.905589 By Marshmello. By Dan Smith, Marshmello, and Steve Mac. Arranged by Mace. Pop. Score and parts. 2 pages. Mace #4351007. Published by Mace (A0.905589). --- You can use this sheet music as a violin or flute player. ---This is Happier. It is a song by American music producer Marshmello featuring Bastille. The arrangement is as accurate as possible and includes the lyrics to the song. This arrangement is perfect to play along to the original song. It's not too hard, but it's not too easy either, which makes it the perfect pop song to play on the violin or on the flute.About me, the arranger:I'm arranging popular songs for clarinet, flute, trumpet and violin for over four years now. I had a successful sheet music channel on YouTube for many years (Mace Music Covers). Now I start again on YouTube with my channel Music by Mace. You can also listen to this arrangement there. For more information, check out my YouTube channel or blog.If you have any questions about this sheet music or anything else, feel free to contact me via my blog, YouTube or Facebook!

Violin Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.799118 By Dwight Yoakam. By Freddie Mercury and Frederick Mercury. Arranged by Dan Sanchez. Rock. 4 pages. Dan Sanchez #4776573. Published by Dan Sanchez (A0.799118). This Solo Violin arrangement still manages to capture the full sound of my string quartet version of Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen. Your listeners will love this toe-tapping tune, so much so that you might get an air-guitarist joining you on the side! The bowings included here with help with the swing. It’s a blast to play; I really enjoy it. I hope you do, too! One thing that sets my arrangements apart from others is that I fit all of my parts on 2 sheets of music. This makes it so the songs can fit into a binder, without the need for flipping pages! Another great thing (for multi-instrumental arrangements) is that I include cue lines on each part, so that every player in the ensemble can see one other person’s music at the same time. This is so amazingly useful and has saved countless performances in the past. If someone skips a beat or misses a measure, you can now see where they are and reconnect! This also helps with sight-reading and keeping the group together in general. So, feel free to check out my other arrangements while you're here! Thanks,Dan

Guitar - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1135655 By Ruth B. By Ruth Berhe. Arranged by Brian Streckfus. Instructional,Pop,Singer/Songwriter. Chords/Lyrics. 2 pages. Brian Streckfus #735713. Published by Brian Streckfus (A0.1135655). This is a shortened version of the song to fit nicely on two pages (I needed a shorter version for the circumstances I'm under). The melody and lyrics are like the original as far as I can tell, but I did make changes to the harmony. Usually these changes to the harmony are to enhance the word painting, or to have it be more idiomatic to guitar. A version like this is ideal for someone who wants to play a very fancy version of the song on solo guitar, though adding vocals in should still be fairly easy. I personally sing a lot better if I can play the melody first on guitar because then I know exactly what I'm doing. Versions like these can really be as simple or as complex as you want, if you want something simple, just play the chord diagrams and sing!1. Guitar Arrangement Lead Sheet Style2. Guitar Tab 3. Chord Charts 4. Less stereotypical chords 5. Fingerings and letter names added to aid in sight-reading 6. Voice leading considerations 7. Making the music idiomatic for guitarTips:1. Notes with the stem direction going down are background harmonies that should be played quietly. This hidden meaning tends to only happen with polyphonic instruments such as piano and guitar. You'll eventually notice this anyways because there is no lyric underneath the note.1. Slurs are notated to the make the music easier and better sounding for guitar not vocals, though of course it often mimicks slurs similiar to a vocalist.2. Fmaj7(#11) is not in the original and is a key change since it includes an F and not an F#.3. Sometimes it can look like the melody does not contain a key change, but then when you anaylze the letter names of the chords, you will find that there is indeed key changes in the chords. The Beatles is a good example of a band that does this often.4. E minor and G major chords technically only need 2 or 3 notes. This is one simple but effective strategy to have less cliche chords.5. The F(#5)(#11) chord in the second to last measure could probably be just an F major chord.6. The E natural in measure 42 could be an Eb if the harmony is too avant-garde for you. Made sense to me because of word painting and I wanted a keyless and dreamy feeling for the end. 7. G/B chords are arguably nicer than a full G chord, though of course the decision is ultimately up to. It is better because the chord is imperfect, it causes the audience to not clap too soon. I also only strum the chord up to where the vocal melody is happening, that way the main melody is always in the spot light, and I find songs are easier to sing this way.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1393214 By Stacey Plays Hymns. By Henry Francis Lyte / Stacey Plays Hymns. Arranged by Anastace. Advent,Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. Score. 9 pages. Anastace #976695. Published by Anastace (A0.1393214). Here is the full piano vocal version of “The Leaves Around Me Fallingâ€, as heard on my YouTube channel and in many comforting, beautiful funeral playlists. This version is in F minor to match the original recording, and has the exact piano accompaniment as well as full melody and lyrics for a soloist or choir. Also available, by searching Stacey Plays Hymns and the song title on this site, are the following versions:Piano and Vocal in E Minor for easier playing [vocal range A3-A4]Piano and Vocal in A Minor for higher voice [vocal range D4-D5]Lead Sheet Version in F Minor [vocal range Bb3-Bb4] [as well as more detailed chords]Lead Sheet Version in E Minor for easier playing [vocal range A3-A4]For other formats including large print, different vocal ranges, or extended choral SATB versions, please write me at staceyplayshymns@gmail.com and I'll be glad to make them especially for you. Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1381714 By Stacey Plays Hymns. By Stacey Plays Hymns. Arranged by Anastace. Christian,Historic,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. Score. 5 pages. Anastace #966349. Published by Anastace (A0.1381714). Here is the full piano vocal arrangement of The Harvest of the Earthâ€, as heard on my YouTube channel and requsted by listeners. Originally titled “See How Brown Autumn Spreads the Fieldsâ€, this song is so rare that I couldn’t find any music for it online, and therefore wrote a new melody and accompaniment for it that captures the the solemnity and anguish of the lyrics. It’s one of the songs of harvest off of my album entitled “Hymns of Autumnâ€, but doesn’t talk about harvest in the traditional sense we normally sing about these days. Not many talk about the judgement of God in today’s church, and this hymn will send chills down the spine of the most devout believer as we realize the full spectrum of God's character, including His wrath and power on Judgement Day. I found this in an old hymnal that was so old that the “Sâ€s were still written as “Fâ€s, and I had to squint to read it while learning to sing for this recording. I hope this ancient and powerful hymn finds a place to minister to today's church and believers around the world, perhaps after a sermon on God’s judgement, or for a Lent or Advent service about repentance and turning to God, both individually and as a nation. This version is in B Minor to match the original recording, and includes the full piano accompaniment as played in the recording. Also available, by searching Stacey Plays Hymns and the song title on this site is a lead sheet version for those who prefer to play off a chart. For other formats including large print, or extended choral harmony versions, please write me at staceyplayshymns@gmail.com and I'll be glad to make them especially for you. Piano Solo - Advanced - Digital Download Composed by Isadar. Contemporary Classical, Neo- Classical, Activities and Games, Recital, New Age. Sheet Music Single. 9 pages. Published by Mainya Music Publishing (BMI)
Contains:<br> "Throwing The Dice"<br> - taken from the Isadar solo piano collections, "Active Imagination / Reconstructed" (also available on SMP) <br> <br> Sounds like: Liz Story's ("Things With Wings"), Philip Aaberg, George Winston, early Windham Hill solo piano artists<br> <br> Transcribed by: David Shenton ( https://www.shentonmusic.com/ ) verbatim to the sound recording<br> <br> Note: A slightly different version of this composition is also heard on the Isadar album, "Reconstructed" (Produced by Will Ackerman)<br> <br> Album & Songbook Review by: Kathy Parsons<br> <br> I love this CD! It constantly amazes me how many outstanding composer/pianists there are out there - especially in relation to the few who are highly (commercially) successful within this broad genre. I would say that Active Imagination definitely belongs near the top of the heap. Isadar’s style is original, and his pianism is excellent. He lists his inspirations as Liz Story, Keith Jarrett, and Bill Evans, and I can hear traces of all three in his playing, but find his composing and playing styles to be uniquely his own.<br> <br> The first three tracks are lively and upbeat (“Active Imagination”, “Throwing the Dice”, and “Where the Wild Things Are”) with an easy, jazzy, improvised feel. The meter changes are fascinating, and the bluesy beat on “Wild Things” is infectious.<br> <br> From there, the mood seems to gradually darken and become more introspective. “Waiting” is a beautiful, flowing mood piece full of questions and a lovely melody line. Isadar’s cover of Liz Story’s “Wedding Rain” is wonderful - this is a piece I often work on with my advanced students, and everything about Isadar’s interpretation of the piece seems right without being a carbon-copy of Liz’s recording.<br> <br> “Feu Follet (the ‘spook’ light’)” has a nice, easy flow with a strong sense of mystery; it also has an unusual rhythm that lightens the mood and adds a bounce. “Uncertainty” is cooler and more aloof, but gorgeous in its flowing introspection - that it ends with a major chord, feels like the soul-searching has had positive results. “Love Chaconne” is the closing track, and is the longest and most abstract piece on the CD. The left hand plays a repeated pattern while the right hand goes off in several different directions (one of the primary characteristics of a “chaconne”). Beautiful in its simplicity, this is the only track that seems to contain an element of pain and sorrow, but never dissolves into melodrama.<br> <br> Active Imagination is excellent from start to finish and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes solo piano with substance and complexity, but is still accessible, melodic, and rhythmic. Bravo amundo!<br> <br> Active Imagination Sheet Music Collection is the companion songbook to Isadar’s 1999 CD release, Active Imagination. The CD was one of my favorites for the year when I reviewed it for the print version of “Wind and Wire” magazine, so I was really looking forward to the sheet music! Transcribed note-for-note by David Shenton of ShentonMusic.com (I proofed about half of the book, so I can attest to how accurate it is!), it is up to you to make the music sound as close to the CD as you want or to interpret the music and make your own statements with it.<br> <br> One thing that really stands out about this collection is how much FUN it is to play. The rhythms are interesting and catchy, and the mood in several of the songs is playful and upbeat. This is especially true with the title song, “Throwing the Dice,” “Where the Wild Things Are,” and “Feu Follet (the ‘spook’ light).” “Waiting,” “Love Chaconne,” and “Uncertainty” are slower, more introspective, and a bit moody, making this a sheet music collection that contains a variety of moods and styles. Piano Solo - Early Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Isadar. Contemporary Classical, Neo- Classical, Spiritual, Recital, New Age. Sheet Music Single. 8 pages. Published by Mainya Music Publishing (BMI)
Contains:<br> "Waiting"<br> - taken from the Isadar solo piano collections, "Active Imagination / Reconstructed" (also available on SMP)<br> <br> Sounds like: Keith Jarrett, Bill Evans, Vince Guaraldi, Liz Story, George Winston, early Windham Hill solo piano artists<br> <br> Transcribed by: David Shenton ( https://www.shentonmusic.com/ ) verbatim to the sound recording<br> <br> Note: A slightly different version of this composition is also heard on the Isadar album, "Reconstructed" (Produced by Will Ackerman)<br> <br> Album & Songbook Review by: Kathy Parsons<br> <br> I love this CD! The only piece missing from the book is Liz Story’s “Wedding Rain,” but the sheet music for that song is available in some of Ms. Story’s own collections.<br> <br> Early-advanced players should have no trouble with this music. The timing on some of the songs is a little bit tricky, but if you count it as you are learning it, it will fall into place.<br> <br> If you haven’t heard the CD, check it out, too! Piano Solo - Advanced Intermediate - Digital Download By Eartha Kitt. Arranged by Mario Stallbaumer. 3 pages. Published by Mario Stallbaumer
With this sheet music, you can play "Santa Baby" on piano!<br> <br> It's an accurate, playable arrangement of Eartha Kitt's famous 1953 recording, in the song's original key of Db major.<br> <br> It comes with a few challenges, but sounds fantastic!<br> <br> The full melody is included in the piano part, so it makes for a perfect instrumental (piano solo) cover.<br> <br> Written by Joan Javits and Philip Springer, Eartha Kitt recorded the song with Henri René and his orchestra. After its release in October 1953, it became the best-selling Christmas song of that year!<br> <br> The song's suggestive lyrics and sexual undertone were considered quite controversial (the song was even banned for some time in the American South), and "Santa Baby" has been named both one of the best and one of the worst Christmas songs ever written...<br> <br> Still, the song has become a famous holiday hit, and has been recorded by many artists, including Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Michael Bublé, Robbie Williams, Ariana Grande, Gwen Stefani, Taylor Swift, and many others.<br> <br> Many consider Eartha Kitt's original recording to be the greatest version of the song - it certainly makes for a fantastic piano cover!<br> <br> Here are the song's full lyrics:<br> <br> Santa baby, just slip a sable under the tree<br> For me<br> Been an awful good girl<br> Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight<br> <br> Santa baby, a 54 convertible too<br> Light blue<br> I'll wait up for you dear<br> Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight<br> <br> Think of all the fun I've missed<br> Think of all the fellas that I haven't kissed<br> Next year I could be just as good<br> If you'll check off my Christmas list<br> <br> Santa baby, I wanna yacht<br> And really that's not a lot<br> Been an angel all year<br> Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight<br> <br> Santa honey, one little thing I really need<br> The deed<br> To a platinum mine<br> Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight<br> <br> Santa cutie, and fill my stocking with a duplex<br> And checks<br> Sign your 'X' on the line<br> Santa cutie, and hurry down the chimney tonight<br> <br> Come and trim my Christmas tree<br> With some decorations bought at Tiffany's<br> I really do believe in you<br> Let's see if you believe in me<br> <br> Santa baby, forgot to mention one little thing<br> A ring<br> I don't mean on the phone<br> Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight<br> Hurry down the chimney tonight<br> Hurry, tonight
