B-Flat instrument,B-Flat trombone,Baritone Horn TC/Euphonium,C Instrument,Instrumental Solo,Piano,Tenor Trombone,Trombone/Baritone B.C. - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1320503 Composed by Pietro Mascagni. Arranged by Rob Bushnell. Classical,Easter,Film/TV,Opera,Romantic Period. Score and individual part. 9 pages. RBMusic #909019. Published by RBMusic (A0.1320503). In 1889, a struggling composer called Pietro Mascagni heard about a sponsored competition for one-act operas, specifically for young Italian composers who had not yet had an opera performed, only two months before the deadline. With little time, he selected the subject for his opera and asked his childhood friend, Giovanni Targioni-Tozzetti (who was helped by Guido Menasci), to write a libretto for him. Mascagni selected a story that he had seen as a play in Milan in early 1884 by realist writer Giovanni Verga, “Rustic Chivalryâ€, or Cavalleria rusticana. A passionate love tragedy featuring seduction, adultery, revenge and murder, it is surprising set on Easter morning.Mascagni received only a few verses at a time from his librettists, but he was not worried because he had the opera clear in his mind: “I identified with the drama to such an extent that I felt it within myself in terms of music.†After two months’ of work, the music for Cavalleria rusticana was finished but he feared the opera would fail and put the music in a draw. Fortunately, his wife sent it off, he unanimously won the competition and was soon the talk of Europe. (At the premiere in May 1890 in Rome, Mascagni received no fewer than 60 curtain calls.) Unfortunately, it was a one-hit wonder with Mascagni unable to repeat its success, saying towards the end of his life that “it is a pity I wrote Cavalleria first for I was crowned before I became king.†He died, penniless, in 1945.Today, few people have heard of Mascagni’s name, and, if they have, it is rarely in relation to anything but one piece from Cavalleria rusticana, the Intermezzo. A short piece of purely orchestral music that is uses to denote the passage of time, the orchestration is very simple but it is such an indulgently beautiful melody (based on a hymn heard earlier in the short opera) that perfectly captures the peace of country living in Sicily against the intense feelings of the main characters and the looming tragedy to come. The piece is so popular that (along with the “Easter Hymn†from the same opera), it is the only reason Mascagni features in the Classic FM’s Hall of Fame. The piece was used in the 1980 film Raging Bull and the 1990 film The Godfather Part III.This arrangement (for solo trombone or euphonium and piano accompaniment) includes an alternative part for trombone/euphonium in treble clef. A recording of the original song can be found on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kgr-I1y1_2M.Other searchable terms: Italy, Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Cathy Moriarty, Nicholas Colasanto, Theresa Saldana, Frank Vincent, Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire, Andy GarcÃa, Eli Wallach, Joe Mantegna, Bridget Fonda, George Hamilton, Sofia Coppola.

Full Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1284960 By Trevor Denyer. By Guiseppi Verdi. Arranged by Trevor Denyer. 19th Century,Opera,Romantic Period. Score and Parts. 112 pages. Trevor Denyer #876085. Published by Trevor Denyer (A0.1284960). This opening extract from Verdi's Ernani is a suitably dramatic and energetic piece for chorus and orchestra. It will fit into an opening section of an opera fiesta, while being less known than many others. While Ernani is not well known these days, it was first performed on 9 March 1844, and it was immensely popular, and was revived countless times during its early years. It became Verdi's most popular opera until it was superseded by Il trovatore after 1853. In 1904, it became the first opera to be recorded completely. As usual with my offerings, print each part double-sided as presented, and the page turns will work.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Flute - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.910423 Composed by Georges Bizet, Francois Bourne. Arranged by David Heywood. Opera,Romantic Period. 65 pages. David Heywood #5204847. Published by David Heywood (A0.910423). The opera Carmen by Georges Bizet is almost universally considered to be the greatest opera ever written, and if you have ever heard any of it, you already know why - the lyrical beauty and power of the fantastic songs that are in it. Serious flute players have always included the famous theme and variations based on Bizet’s music, composed by Francois Bourne for flute and piano, in their programs, and it remains one of the most popular works in the entire flute literature. Here is a flute quartet version of this amazing work scored for Three C Flutes with optional Piccolo double in the Flute two part, and Alto Flute, with an optional Bass Flute part that copies the Alto part if you want to use five players and beef up the lower notes. Rest assured that this arrangement is not a simplified version - it retains all of the difficulty, passion, and energy of the original piece. The technical passages are divided between first and second flute, with the lower parts driving the engine that both adds lyricism and excitement to this energetic juggernaut. This piece is every bit as much an obsession as it is the ultimate program closer!

Published by Maggs (A0.821288). This lovely aria from Puccini's opera Gianni Schicchi is a favorite of sopranos. This intermediate level piano version is transposed to the key of G major, down from the original Ab major, and uses eighth note arpeggios to replace the 16th note ones in the original. But it retains the lovely simplicity of the song. It could be used as a simpler accompaniment for a vocalist. (If played on a keyboard - it will work on a 5 octave or larger keyboard - it would be easy to transpose it back up to the original key.)

Published by Stefano Olcese (A0.1144014). This is one of the most famous opera arias for bass voice. It's taken from Giuseppe Verdi's opera Simon Boccanegra and it's one of the most beautiful and touching musical moments of that score. It's originally composed for full orchestra and I arranged it for string quintet, horn and, of course, bass voice. Please contact me if you wish to have the separate parts too, I'll send the PDF files to you. http://www.stefano-olcese.com/ https://www.instagram.com/stefano_olcese/ https://www.facebook.com/olcesestefano/.

Guitar Ensemble Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797827 Composed by Pietro Mascagni. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Classical,Opera,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 13 pages. Derek Hasted #6428743. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.797827). INTERMEZZO (Cavalleria Rusticana) - 4 GUITARS/LARGE ENSEMBLEFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes The opera Cavalleria Rusticana opened on 17 May 1890 in Rome to a half empty house. However, the audience included not only the most authoritative music critics in the country but also Queen Margherita, a great music lover. It was a success from its opening notes. Following Stagno's rendition of the Siciliana behind the curtain the audience leaped to their feet with a thunderous applause not heard for many years. Mascagni took 40 curtain calls. The intermezzo is an orchestra interlude that most people recognise, that far fewer can name, and virtually no-one can identify the composer. My arrangement was inspired by hearing the original orchestral version at the funeral of Bill, a fellow guitarist, and this is my tribute to him - an arrangement for 4 guitars. In order to make the very best of the compass of the guitar, I’ve had to change to pitch a little, but it makes it all the more playable. The tempo is slow - really slow and relaxed. I’ve not added fingering, because although much can be played in low positions, you may well find that there is plenty of time to take much of the piece up the neck, where the guitar really comes alive.I hope you enjoy performing this!

String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1269267 Composed by Campra, André. Arranged by Yves Bouillot. Baroque,Opera. Score and Parts. 16 pages. Yves Bouillot #861805. Published by Yves Bouillot (A0.1269267). Les Fêtes vénitiennes (or, in the original spelling, Les Festes vénitiennes) is an opera-ballet by French composer André Campra. The opera-ballet consists of a prologue and three entries. It was performed for the first time at the Royal Academy of Music on June 17, 1710, in the Salle du Palais-Royal. According to the usage of the time, the work is described as ballet, but it is one of the most important examples of a new genre that specialists will later agree to call opera-ballet. . The chaconne is a popular dance song, in three beats of lively character, originating in America, during the Vice-Kingdom of New Spain and brought to Spain by sailors. Transplanted then in other European countries at the beginning of the XVIIth century, it becomes a dance of noble character there then is approached by the instruments, in orchestra or soloists. It is then a piece of large proportions, in triple time, slow and solemn, based on the repetition and variation of a theme.

Soprano voice,Vocal Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1185473 Composed by Maurice Ravel. Arranged by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo. Classical,Opera. 6 pages. Nicole Elyse DiPaolo #785149. Published by Nicole Elyse DiPaolo (A0.1185473). The first of its kind, this is a genuinely playable and slightly-to-moderately simplified piano/vocal reduction of Arrière! Je réchauffe les bons, the Fire Aria from Ravel's L'enfant et les sortilèges (1925). Sopranos who love this aria no longer need to fear bringing it in for auditions, last-minute performing engagements, or other situations in which the pianist may have to sight-read from the often chaotic vocal score, particularly if the murmuring section after the standard audition cut, which is very poorly rendered in the standard reduction, is also being included. Pianists may now enjoy playing this aria comfortably, without risking strain/injury or audition-room chaos. This Accessible Accompaniment is more generous than standard audition cuts, ending just before L'enfant re-enters with j'ai peur. It is 91 measures in total and ideal for recitals as well. All Accessible Accompaniments, including this one, boast several unique features:1. No reduction ever requires stretches of over an octave, not including bass notes meant to be held or “fudged†with the pedal (though octaves may also contain chord tones within them). This reduces the amount of rearranging that smaller-handed pianists must already do. Obviously, further reworkings are to be expected and pianists should feel free to add to or modify what I’ve provided.2. I’ve included less essential, but potentially desirable additional voices/passages in cue-size noteheads so that pianists can easily see them, but know that they are not necessary in a “sink or swim†accompanying situation. Presenting less essential material in cue-size noteheads also reduces visual clutter on the page. 3. In addition to the composer’s markings, when needed, I have included hints on particular notes to bring out when the singer is likely to need them as a pitch anchor or when it is not obvious which line should be brought out within the texture.4. All page turns have been carefully selected so as to result in the least possible disruption to the pianist when possible. 5. When known, I’ve noted alternate cuts that singers might like to take within certain arias. 6. In some cases I’ve modernized spelling conventions for easier readability (for example, by replacing “߆with “ss†in German arias) and occasionally I've enharmonically respelled brief passages for greater clarity. I’ve also replaced some text “cresc.†and “dim.†markings with hairpins, which are easier to see in high-pressure sight-reading situations.About the Arranger:Praised as a sensitive pianist and outstanding accompanist who delivers powerful interpretations, Nicole Elyse DiPaolo enjoys a multifaceted career as a sought-after collaborative pianist, educational composer, arranger, coach, private teacher, and adjunct music professor. Piano,Trombone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792792 Composed by Giacomo Puccini. Arranged by Christopher Espy. 20th Century,Opera,Romantic Period. Score and part. 11 pages. Gordon Cherry #6472391. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792792). The Girl of the Golden West is an opera by Giacomo Puccini premiered in 1910 at the Metropolitan Opera (conducted by Arturo Toscanini), based on the 1905 play of the same name by American author David Belasco. It is a work of great craftsmanship, deemed by the composer to be one of his greatest works. Toscanini called it a great symphonic poem. Another little tidbit....it is the first world premiere ever to be commissioned and presented by the Metropolitan Opera. The three arias:1. Minnie, Dalla mia casa son Partito, 2. Chella Mi Creda, 3. E anche to lo vorrai, Joeare beautifully arranged by Christopher Espy in a perfect register for the Trombone and will allow the performers to show off their expressive artistry.

Gordon Cherry #4820181. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792384). Vilja is Franz LehaÌr’s most famous aria and the Merry Widow where it is taken from is his most popular operetta. It's melody is intoxicatingly beautiful and leaves its listeners humming it long after the show is over. Lisa Albrecht of the Rochester Philharmonic has arranged a most lovely rendition of this great song for Trombone quartet. About five minutes in length, this work is appropriate for an advanced player on the lead part and intermediate performers in the rest.

Ode to Joy by Beethoven for Low Brass Trio

Horn,Trombone,Tuba - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1265517 Composed by Luigi Boccherini. Arranged by Ander. 19th Century,Classical,March,Opera,Romantic Period. 9 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #858318. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.1265517). This Low Brass Trio arrangement was created to preserve the characteristics of the original work, inspiring and significant to Beethoven’s well-known choral symphony. It is suitable for young music students and professional musicians, for recitals, repertoire, academic presentations, and didactic material. The transcription is faithful to the structure, with only one key change, maintaining the essence of the striking melody. Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony Op. 125 incorporates part of the poem An die Freude (“To Joyâ€), a hymn written by Friedrich Schiller, with the text sung by soloists and a choir in its last movement. It was the first example of a major composer using the human voice as prominently as instruments in a symphony, creating a far-reaching work that set the tone for the symphonic form adopted by Romantic composers. This is Ludwig van Beethoven’s last complete symphony. The choral symphony, better known as the Ninth Symphony or The Ninth, is one of the best-known works in the Western repertoire, considered an icon and predecessor of Romantic music and one of Beethoven’s great masterpieces. It was first performed on May 7, 1824 at the Kärntnertortheater in Vienna, Austria.

Saxophone Quartet,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.764643 Composed by Giuseppe Verdi. Arranged by James Pybus. Opera,Romantic Period. 11 pages. James Pybus #34867. Published by James Pybus (A0.764643). La donna è mobile (The woman is fickle) is the Duke of Mantua's canzone from the beginning of act 3 of Giuseppe Verdi's opera Rigoletto (1851). The inherent irony is that the Duke, a callous playboy, is the one who is mobile (inconstant). The canzone is famous as a showcase for tenors. Raffaele Mirate's performance of the bravura aria at the opera's 1851 premiere was hailed as the highlight of the evening. Before its first public performance (in Venice), it was rehearsed under tight secrecy: a necessary precaution, because it proved to be catchy and soon after its first public performance every gondolier in Venice was singing it. The present arrangement written in 2011 for Saxophone Quartet has been transposed to the more saxophone-friendly key of Bb from the original B major.
