Piano - Moderate SKU: M2.MOS-18024 Mit einem Anhang zur Ausfuhrung der Ornamente. Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. This edition: Revised Edition. 29 Stucke aus dem Notenbuchern fur Anna Magdalena und Wilhelm Friedemann Bach sowie anderen Quellen. Möseler Verlag #MOS 18024. Published by Möseler Verlag (M2.MOS-18024).

Chamber Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.742401 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Arte Nova Music Lab. Baroque,Concert,Standards,World. Score and parts. 111 pages. Arte Nova Music Lab #3005423. Published by Arte Nova Music Lab (A0.742401). The four orchestral suites (called ouvertures by their author), BWV 1066–1069 are four suites by Johann Sebastian Bach. The name ouverture refers only in part to the opening movement in the style of the French overture, in which a majestic opening section in relatively slow dotted-note rhythm in duple meter is followed by a fast fugal section, then rounded off with a short recapitulation of the opening music. More broadly, the term was used in Baroque Germany for a suite of dance-pieces in French Baroque style preceded by such an ouverture. This genre was extremely popular in Germany during Bach's day, and he showed far less interest in it than was usual: Robin Stowell writes that Telemann's 135 surviving examples [represent] only a fraction of those he is known to have written;[1] Christoph Graupner left 85; and Johann Friedrich Fasch left almost 100. Bach did write several other ouverture (suites) for solo instruments, notably the Cello Suite no. 5, BWV 1011, which also exists in the autograph Lute Suite in G minor, BWV 995, the Keyboard Partita no. 4 in D, BWV 828, and the Overture in the French style, BWV 831 for keyboard. The two keyboard works are among the few Bach published, and he prepared the lute suite for a Monsieur Schouster, presumably for a fee, so all three may attest to the form's popularity.Scholars believe that Bach did not conceive of the four orchestral suites as a set (in the way he conceived of the Brandenburg Concertos), since the sources are various, as detailed below. The Bach-Werke-Verzeichnis catalogue includes a fifth suite, BWV 1070 in G minor. However, this work is highly unlikely to have been composed by J. S. Bach. Taken from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orchestral_suites_(Bach)

Baroque,Chamber,Instructional,Standards,Traditional. 22 pages. Helene Schulthess #802355. Published by Helene Schulthess (A0.1203793). The trio sonatas BWV 525 - 530 were written between 1727 and 1732. According to the Bach biographer Johann Nikolaus Forkel, Bach wrote them as teaching material for his eldest son Wilhelm Friedemann Bach.Within the complete works for organ, the trio sonatas deserve special attention, for what is special about these compositions is that the organ sounds like chamber music. With the possibilities of the many colours that the instrument possesses, one person can play three musicians at the same time. The trio sonata is originally in E flat major. This arrangement for three flutes is transposed to G major.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quartet Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.532734 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Paul Wehage. Baroque. 21 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #1917. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.532734). The Aria with 30 variations which form the work which is known as the « Goldberg » variations is one of the greatest works of Bach. It is his only work which uses the form of variations and through three series of ten variations each, it explores a myriad of musical genres and styles. The initial Aria, which seems to be rather trite and banal at the beginning of the work, is magnified through these transformations and the da capo at the end brings us back to the beginning, which has been changed by the musical journey itself. As a sort of musical « initiation », it has become a work which sparks the imagination and which creates an atmosphere all it’s own. The story of how the work came to be written has to come to us through Bach’s first biographer, Johann Nikolaus Forkel in 1805, seventy-five years after the death of Bach. It would seem that a certain Count Keyserlingk, the Russian Ambassador to the Court of Dresden, had difficulty sleeping and asked Bach to compose a work which his protégé, a harpsichord virtuoso by the name of Goldberg, could play in a salon near his bedroom to help him sleep in the evening. For this commission, Bach was to receive the largest fee of his life, a hundred louis d’or in a golden goblet. It would seem that this story is perhaps more of a legend than anything else, as no goblet was found in Bach’s estate at the end of his life and no documented proof of this story has been found. Goldberg was indeed a student of C. P. E Bach, Bach’s son and the son might have asked his father to write these works for his brilliant student. No manuscript for the Goldberg Variations exists, only a first edition corrected in the hand of Bach which contains certain tempo indications and other markings. The first edition also carried the following title: « Clavierübung, consisting of an Aria with diverse variations for the Harpsichord with two manuals composed for music lovers to refresh their spirits by J. S. Bach ». In this version for Saxophone Quartet, it is important to remember that Bach was writing for the harpsichord and not for the Piano-forte. Bach did indeed know of the Piano-forte and played one of the first instruments produced, but it would seem that he did not care much for this new instrument. To find something akin to the precise, clearly defined attacks of the harpsichord, precise articulation and clarity of sound must be the first priority. In general, even in the slowest movements, the attacks must take precedent over all other elements of performance. If the need for clarity of line and precision of attack is respected, the inherent musicality contained in the work should be evident, even in this new form.. As Bach himself transcribed many of his own works and those of others, I would like to hope that he would find this question to be interesting and the results to be surprising...

Brass Ensemble Euphonium - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813395 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Baroque,Instructional,Multicultural,Standards,World. Score and parts. 43 pages. Regis Bookshar #6209799. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813395). Euphonium Quintet - Advanced - Digital Download. This must-have arrangement would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts and recitals and could also be performed for church services. This brilliant work by Johann Sebastian Bach is an adaptation of Antonio Vivaldi's Concerto for Four Violins and String Orchestra in B minor. Bach had gotten to know Vivaldi's concertos while he was an organist at Weimar, where he transcribed ten of them for solo harpsichord and six of them for organ. Originally written in B minor, Bach transposed it to A minor and, while preserving the melodic outline as conceived by Vivaldi for four violins, this later adaptation, from around 1730, for four harpsichords and string orchestra, is far more ambitious. In it, Bach has both tightened and expanded Vivaldi's counterpoint, enriched it with lusher harmonies and expanded the solo parts with greater complexity and greater clarity. The result is a composition that actually improves on the original work. Written in the standard three-movement concerto form of the Baroque period, Bach's Concerto for Four Claviers in A minor is a virtuoso piece for the soloists. Regis Bookshar has now rearranged the first movement of this concerto, marked Allegro, for a Euphonium Quintet, while maintaining the energy and virtuosity of Bach's original work. This arrangement is intended to be performed by accomplished players. It may prove to be a huge challenge for many players, but, I think, it will be worth the effort. Included are a score and a complete set of parts, written in Bass Clef (43 pages). If you prefer, a version written in Treble Clef is also available. In addition to this version for 5 Euphoniums, other arrangements of this selection are also available for a variety of Instrumental Quintets, some of which are in the original key of Concert A minor and some have been transposed to Concert G minor, making it a little easier for some performers, as well as numerous other arrangements in a wide variety of styles. I would encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar. You may find something else which might interest you as well. I'm certain that this exciting arrangement will be a challenge to many performers but will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed working on it.

I'm certain that this exciting arrangement will be a challenge to many performers but will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed working on it.

Woodwind Ensemble Bassoon - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813392 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Baroque,Instructional,Multicultural,Standards,World. 43 pages. Regis Bookshar #6209789. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813392). Bassoon Quintet - Advanced - Digital Download. Regis Bookshar has now rearranged the first movement of this concerto, marked Allegro, for a Bassoon Quintet, while maintaining the energy and virtuosity of Bach's original work. This arrangement is intended to be performed by accomplished players. It may prove to be a huge challenge for many players, but, I think, it will be worth the effort. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (43 pages). In addition to this version for 5 Bassoons, other arrangements of this selection are also available for a variety of Instrumental Quintets, some of which are in the original key of Concert A minor and some have been transposed to Concert G minor, making it a little easier for some performers, as well as numerous other arrangements in a wide variety of styles.
