Piano Solo - Advanced Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Claude Debussy/Robert Orledge. 20th Century, Impressionistic, Repertoire. Score. 76 pages. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing
Contains Le Roi Lear: Prélude,Première Fanfare, and La Mort de Cordélia,Toomai des éléphants, Rodrigue et Chimène: Prélude à l’acte 1p. Le Martyre de Saint Sébastien: La Passion , and No-ja-li ou Le Palais du Silence<br> <br> From Robert Orledge's notes:<br> <br> My interest in the wonderful music of Claude Debussy began in the 1980s when I researched and published a book with Cambridge University Press entitled Debussy and the Theatre. During the course of my studies in Paris, I was amazed to discover that Debussy planned over 50 theatrical works but only finished two of these entirely by himself (the opera Pelléas et Mélisande in 1893–1902 and the ballet Jeux for Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes in 1912–13). Of the rest, many were never started musically (like Siddartha and Orphée-roi with the Oriental scholar Victor Segalen, 1907); some had a few tantalising sketches (like the Edgar Allan Poe opera Le Diable dans le beffroi, 1902–03); some were half-finished (like his other Poe opera La Chute de la Maison Usher, 1908–17); while others were musically complete but had their orchestrations completed by other composers (like Khamma, by Charles Koechlin, 1912–13; or Le Martyre de Saint Sébastien and La Boîte à joujoux by his ‘angel of corrections’ [‘l’ange des Corrections’] André Caplet in 1911 and 1919 respectively).<br> <br> For it has to be admitted that what some scholars call Debussy’s ‘compulsive achievement’ could equally well be viewed as laziness, especially as far as the minute detail required for calligraphing his orchestral scores was concerned. It was as if creating the music itself was of greater importance than controlling its final sound, even if Debussy was an imaginative orchestrator when he found the time and energy to do it. It also seems true that Debussy also preferred inventing ideas to turning them into complete pieces. However, despite the lack of detail in many of his sketches (missing clefs, key signatures, dynamics, phrasing, etc.) the notes themselves are surprisingly accurate, whether or not they can be compared with a later draft. Thus, a large number of sketches exist for his Chinese ballet No-ja-li ou Le Palais du Silence and it is not too difficult to see which parts of Georges de Feure’s 1913 scenario (see below) inspired which ideas. But Debussy hardly made any attempt to join them together after the first few bars.<br> <br> It was usually up to his publisher, Jacques Durand, to find solutions when Debussy risked a breach of contract. Debussy was supposed to supervise the orchestrations completed by others, but this supervision was usually very light and restricted to quiet, sensitive moments in which problems were easier to spot. Far from jealously guarding every one of his created notes, as Ravel did, Debussy once even went as far as to ask Koechlin to ‘write a ballet for him that he would sign’ on 26 March 1914 when he was hard-pressed to fulfil his lucrative contract for No-ja-li with André Charlot at the Alhambra Theatre in London. In the end, Debussy (through Durand) sent Charlot the symphonic suite Printemps instead, whose orchestration had been completed by Henri Busser in the Spring of 1912.<br> <br> So, when I was offered early retirement as Professor of Music at Liverpool University in 2004, I seized the opportunity it would give me to spend time trying to reconstruct some of Debussy’s lost potential masterpieces from his existing sketches and drafts—then orchestrating them in Debussy’s style when this was appropriate. I had begun this mission in 2001 with the most promising project, the missing parts of Scene 2 of La Chute de la Maison Usher and the sheer joy it gave me at every stage persuaded me to tackle other projects, especially when Debussy experts were unable to identify exactly where I took over from Debussy (and vice versa) in Usher.

C Instrument - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1226750 By The Beatles. By George Harrison. Arranged by Leo Silva. Multicultural,Pop,Rock,World. Lead Sheet / Fake Book. 2 pages. MP Sheet Music #822750. Published by MP Sheet Music (A0.1226750). “Here Comes the Sun†is a Beatles song written by George Harrison, which was released on the 1969 Abbey Road album. Recording began on July 7, 1969 and was completed on August 19, 1969. Its length is 3' 06. George Harrison sings, plays guitar, moog synthesizer, and claps his hands. Paul McCartney sings the chorus, plays the bass, and claps his hands. Ringo Starr plays drums and claps his hands. Because he is recovering from a car accident, John Lennon did not participate in this song. There was also the participation of orchestral instruments: four violas, four cellos, one bass, two picolos, two flutes, two alto flutes and two clarinets. According to George, it was composed one sunny morning in Eric Clapton's mansion. Like in If I Needed Someone, another composition by him, a guitar solo sounds throughout the song. It is one of the most famous and re-recorded Beatles songs.

Love Is Here to Stay was the last musical composition George Gershwin completed before his death on July 11, 1937. Ira Gershwin wrote the lyrics after George's death as a tribute to his brother. Although George had not written a verse for the song, he did have an idea for it that both Ira and pianist Oscar Levant had heard before his death. When a verse was needed, Ira and Levant recalled what George had in mind.

As well as getting young people excited about brass banding, this initiative helps bands forge and strengthen relationships with organisations around them. For those bands that want to go beyond just a performance, this initiative is an ideal opportunity to offer a taster session so school children can learn about the opportunities available in their local brass bands.- Helen Minshall, BBE Youth Development Brass Specialist----------------When I was asked to arrange a collection of fun pieces for Brass Bands England’s “Proms In The Playground†initiative, I was more than happy to do so. It’s a brilliant way to engage local schools with music and brass bands, and I hope this set of arrangements will be enjoyable to perform and share with your community all year round.- Mark Harrison, Arranger.

The City In the Sea: Choral Tone Poem

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1074352 Composed by Stanley M Hoffman. Classical,Contemporary. Octavo. 32 pages. Stanleymhoffman.com #678653. Published by stanleymhoffman.com (A0.1074352). PROGRAM NOTES As of the present writing, this choral tone poem had been gestating for over thirty years, and the concept and harmonies for it for over forty years. In the 1980s I began to work with the latter two in my brief orchestral piece Little Sea Nocturne. When reading the poetry of Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1849), I am most struck by how musical they are. When recited aloud they exhibit their own rhythmic sense. I was eager to incorporate those rhythms into my music. I had long been familiar with his poem The City In the Sea and began to sketch choral passages for the present choral tone poem in the 1990s. It took me until 2022 to complete it because I required many more years of experience at my craft to do so to lead into out of the choruses. In 2012 I completed a seven-minute unaccompanied version of the choruses with music unique to and unifying it simply called The City In the Sea. In composing The City In the Sea - Choral Tone Poem, my goal was to write a piece that, while steeped in tradition, sounds unlike anything in the literature that had come before it. The result is an original hybrid work that successfully and memorably combines salient aspects of the tonal, atonal, and modal musical languages into an organic whole. George Perle coined the term “twelve-tone tonality†to describe the music of Alban Berg and composers influenced by him such as Luigi Dallapiccola. The last title of which I am aware that accomplishes anything remotely related to what I am trying to accomplish musically in this choral tone poem is the piece Paradiso Choruses by Donald Martino (1974). However, I take twelve-tone tonality in entirely other directions in my work. That the duration of The City In the Sea - Choral Tone Poem came out to be thirteen minutes seems appropriate for piece about a sunken city. Rather than write program notes that narrate how the music unfolds I will simply shout out the most memorable aspects of what careful listeners will discern: a recurring heartbeat motif; shifting polychordal harmonies; echo technique; rhythmic diminutions and augmentations; an a cappella chorus featuring those harmonies with a surprisingly memorable recuring theme on top; sensuous flute duets; string section underpinnings by way of either sustained passages or wave-like gestures; tritone-related melodies, harmonies, and tone centers; several strategically placed grand pauses; tritone-related modal-sounding passages; melodic and chord clusters, especially the two climactic ones. INSTRUMENTATION 2 Flutes (2. doubles on Piccolo) 2 Oboes (2. doubles on English Horn) 2 Bb Clarinets 2 Bassoons 2 F Horns 2 C Trumpets 2 Trombones Tuba Timpani Percussion (Gong, Bass Drum, Chimes, Glockenspiel) Harp Strings DURATION 13:00 Stanley M. The final version features additional lyrics by McCartney. Lennon's voice was extracted from the demo using the machine-learning-assisted audio restoration technology commissioned by Peter Jackson for his 2021 documentary The Beatles: Get Back. The song has been released on 2 November 2023 on a double A-side single, paired with a new stereo remix of the band's first single, Love Me Do (1962). Both songs were included on the expanded re-issues of the 1973 compilations 1962–1966 and 1967–1970, released on 10 November 2023. It topped the charts in the United Kingdom, Germany, and Austria, and reached the top ten in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Ireland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United States.Subscribe to my YouTube Channel to stay updated on new releases.

Flute Choir,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Flute,Bass Flute,Piccolo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1432736 By The Beatles. By George Harrison, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and Richard Starkey. Arranged by Erika Skye Andres. Rock. 25 pages. Erika Skye Andres #1013161. Published by Erika Skye Andres (A0.1432736). “Now and Then” by The Beatles was released on November 2, 2023. John Lennon wrote it and made an unfinished recording of it on a tape recorder in 1977. It remained unfinished for decades due to poor audio quality until audio restoration was finally made possible thanks to new technology with machine learning. It was completed by Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr with previously recorded tracks by George Harrison, making this truly the last Beatles song. This flute choir arrangement is scored for piccolo, two flutes, alto, bass, and contrabass. If a contrabass flute is not available, bass flute should play its part instead. If the flute choir only has one bass flute, then the contra part should still be played but the bass flute part can be played with a second alto flute (transposed part included) or just on flute. This arrangement was made a couple of months after the release of “Now and Then” in admiration of such an important group in rock history and hopes to do justice to their final song.

Trumpet Solo - Digital Download SKU: A0.829062 Composed by Eric Bolvin. Arranged by Eric Bolvin. Contemporary. Individual part. 56 pages. ERIC V BOLVIN #3578765. Published by ERIC V BOLVIN (A0.829062). Most brass players are familiar with the ubiquitous Clarke’s Technical Studies. Here are some creative variations on Studies I, II, III, V and VII. All the variations are progressive so I guarantee they get harder and will be useful to players at all levels and styles. There are two essential books that just about every trumpet player has studied; Arban’s Conservatory Method and Clarke’s Technical Studies. The Arban is fondly referred to as the trumpet player’s bible. If that is the case, then the Clarke should be the new testament. I consider Herbert L. Clarke to be the George Washington of trumpet, as he was the one of the first Americans to achieve greatness as a performer on the cornet. He was also one of the first notable pedagogues and taught such greats as Rafael Mendez and Claude Gordon, who was my teacher. I am fond of telling my students that they are the great-grandchildren of H. L. Clarke, one of our country’s first great virtuosos. The impetus for this set of variations is based on the idea of an Expanding Scale or Expanding Range. Each set will start with a small range of notes covering an interval such as a 5th and will expand over the course of the study to the whole range of the trumpet. The idea is to imagine you are holding one note and let your fingers do the rest. This concept is, of course, metaphorical but if employed will greatly enhance your technique and efficiency. This is a progressive course, so it is recommended that you practice the studies in the order they are presented. Make note of the intervals in each study. Study 1 is all chromatic, so it is easier to transition from one note to another. The second group is based on Clarke Study 5 and is all diatonic. The third group is based on Clarke Study 2 which is diatonic with some thirds. The fourth group is based on Clarke Study 3 which is arpeggios. So with each group the intervals get a little more challenging. I’ve also included more chromatic work based on Studies 7 & 8.
