Cello Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.547674 Composed by James M. Guthrie. Contemporary,Instructional. Individual part. 9 pages. Jmsgu3 #3031709. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.547674). Dardanus Variations for Solo Cello is a set of variations on a thematic fragment from Dardanus, a tragédie-lyrique by J.P. Rameau (1683-1764). Each variation depicts a different scene from the opera.I: Entrance of Dardanus: Son of Electra and JupiterII: King Teucer proposes the marriage of his daughter Iphise to King AnténorIII: King Anténor accepts Iphise to become his brideIV: Ismenor the Wizard introduces Iphise to DardanusV: Dardanus encounters the sea monsterVI: The Sea Monster creates havoc for King AnténorVII: Dardanus falls in love with IphiseVIII: Dardanus slays the Sea Monster, saving King Anténor's lifeIX: King Teucer and Dardanus make peaceX: King Teucer permits for Dardanus to marry IphiseXI: The Proposal of DardanusXII: Iphise rejects the proposalXIII: The Second Proposal of DardanusIXV: Wedding Dance Dardanus is connected to the Trojan War through his lineage and the founding of the royal house of Troy. The Dardanoi, the descendants of Dardanus, formed a contingent among Troy's allies in the Trojan War. The House of Dardanus, of which Dardanus was the founder, played a significant role in the lead-up to the war. The city of Troy, founded by Dardanus's descendant, Ilus, was central to the myths surrounding the Trojan War. Additionally, Aeneas, a prominent figure in the Trojan War, was referred to as a Dardanian and was destined to save the House of Dardanus from extinction. Therefore, Dardanus's lineage and the founding of Troy are the critical connections between Dardanus and the Trojan War.Ancestry and Founder: Dardanus was the son of Zeus and the Pleiad Electra. He was the mythical founder of Dardania on the Hellespont and the ancestor of the Dardanians of the Troad and, through Aeneas, of the Romans.Migration and Settlement: According to mythology, Dardanus fled from Arcadia to the island of Samothrace and then to the Troad, where Teucer, the ruler of Phrygia, hospitably received him. He married Teucer's daughter Bateia and became the founder of the royal house of Troy.Family and Descendants: Dardanus married Chryse, with whom he fathered two sons, Idaeus and Deimas. He later married Batea and had several children, including Erichthonius, who became the ancestor of many famous individuals in the Troad, including Tros, Ganymede, Laomedon, and Priam.Cultural Depictions: Dardanus has been the subject of various operas by composers such as Jean-Philippe Rameau, Carl Stamitz, and Antonio Sacchini, reflecting the enduring influence of his mythological story.Legacy: Dardanus lives on in the Dardanelles, the narrow strait separating Asia and Europe, once known as the Hellespont, a name also linked to Greek mythology. These facts highlight Dardanus's role as a critical figure in the foundation of Dardania and the royal house of Troy and his rich and enduring mythological legacy.

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1503757 Composed by Nathan Hall. 21st Century,Contemporary. Score. 36 pages. Abundant Silence #1079210. Published by Abundant Silence (A0.1503757). Nathan Hall's 24 Preludes is a collaboration with pianist Rose Lachman. The preludes are part of a well-tread lineage including collections by Scriabin, Chopin, and Bach. There is one short movement for every key, major and minor, often exploring a single musical idea. Twelve movements correspond to the months of the calendar year, inspired by landscapes in the 13th century book of hours the Tres Riches Heures du Duc de Berry. The other alternating twelve correspond to the qualities of the Zodiac signs that fit most within that timeframe. While they often take unexpected and curious turns, their imagery is always evocative, imaginative, and engaging.Nathan Hall’s works have been called “fearless” in their multifaceted expressions of the composer’s personal and musical identity. Nathan uses music as an artistic medium to explore a variety of fields including science, nature, the fine arts, history, and sexuality. Nathan Hall is a former Fulbright Fellow to Iceland, and holds his Doctorate in Musical Arts from the University of Colorado, Boulder. His works and collaborations have been performed and exhibited around the world and his music has won numerous awards. He currently lives in Denver, Colorado.

Published by Runway Region Publications, LLC (A0.955541). There was a period of about 400 years between Malachi, the last prophet of the Old Testament, and the arrival of John the Baptist. John spoke of the coming of someone great, whose lineage would be traced to King David; thus, the person of Jesus Christ is a Branch of David's Tree. This lovely anthem is perfect for the Advent season, and the arrangement is convenient for smaller choirs. As is customary with Swanson's works, each part has an important role in conveying the music and the message. .

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.719680 Composed by Hans Leo Hassler, J. S. Bach. Arranged by Curtis Hanson. Easter,Sacred. Octavo. 6 pages. Curtis Hanson #2853597. Published by Curtis Hanson (A0.719680). The chorale in this set of variations is part of a project celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. The German chorale has a heritage which forms the basis of many of the hymns associated with the Protestant church, many of which have a close association with Martin Luther either in melody or in text. These chorales have been set by many composers in the late Renaissance and Baroque periods in various harmonizations and vocal/instrumental genres, culminating in the grandeur of those by J. S. Bach. This set of variations celebrates the German Lutheran chorale in the Luther-Bach lineage.

The American Seasons (score – violin and string orchestra) MO148AScore (parts available)Music by Mark O’Connor99 pages - 38:00 minutes in length The American Seasons(Seasons Of An American Life)The American Seasons (Seasons Of An American Life) is a concerto for Violin And Chamber Orchestra. Composed in 1999, the music celebrates the various stages of an American life at the waking of the 21st century. Constructed in four movements and representing four stages of life, birth, adolescence, maturity and old age, the music also pays homage to Shakespeare's Seasons Of Man His acts being seven ages, incorporated throughout the work.Spring introduces the ideas of birth and infancy. After the principal theme has been stated, there is a violin cadenza encountering all twelve major keys and a 13/8 time signature representing the ancient golden ratio. These elements recall birth with all the possibilities a new life offers. Ending the movement, the principal theme is repeated with more complexity... as if posing life's questions.Summer represents the excitement and bravado of youthful adolescence and young adulthood. For the style of this movement I use a happy-go-lucky Blues voice which melds into Swing. I identify swing rhythm in all of 20th century American music culture as a common thread that runs through Ragtime through Rock and Roll on to Rap. Swing means testing the waters and pushing the envelope for lovers and soldiers.Fall is the slow movement symbolizing the wisdom of maturity. It is a peaceful theme with nostalgic strokes. It is a time for sincere reflection and enjoying ones accomplishments in life.Winter embodies the complexities and knowledge of an older person and that of a dying person. The movement begins with the principal them from Spring, but with a dissonance that emanates from a lifetime full of emotions and responsibilities. In the middle of the movement is a transition to an old world. I use my personal ancestry from Ireland as a foundation from which to rediscover one's lineage and explore the meaning and value of a cultural legacy. The exploration evolves into a four- and five-part fugue with a reel, jig, air, countered bass and the motif from the principal theme. All these elements, dances and melodies appear simultaneously and converge to form a unique insight to life's consequences from a historical perspective. Following the fugue, the principal theme finds its way back in. It sounds much as it did at birth. In the end, the solo violin cadenza carries the last earthly breaths before the violin and orchestra once again join in harmony to focus on a new life being transformed somewhere else. Life's four seasons in perpetuity. Soprano voice,Vocal Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.726105 Composed by Traditional (public domain). Arranged by Todd Marchand. Advent,Christian,Christmas,Sacred. 12 pages. Con Spirito Music #6102553. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.726105). Three Solos: Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, for soprano and organ, offers the church soloist three new arrangements of texts and tunes that are fitting for the season. Blest Mary Walks Amid the Thorn is a German folk carol that references the Virgin Mary's journey to visit her cousin Elizabeth, with symbolic allusions to promises of new life in Christ. (Range D4-Eb5)Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming references the Old Testament prophecies that foretell the Incarnation of Christ and his lineage in the House of David. The familiar melody and harmonization by Michael Praetorius are adapted and expanded in this new setting. (Range C4-D5)Saw You Never in the Twilight? tells of the Wise Men's (Magi) journey to the crib of the Christ Child and of the manifestation of Christ to the world, which is celebrated in the season of Epiphany. The Welsh lullaby, Suo Gan, is used as accompaniment to the text in this arrangement. (Range F4-F5)All three pieces may be accompanied by the organist using manuals only.©Copyright 2019 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). All rights reserved. Visit www.conspiritomusic.com

Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8694-E). English. Luke 1:46-55.Commissioned by Todd Wilson for Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Cleveland, Ohio, this setting has exactly what you'd think it would: a stunning organ part and challenging choral writing. Although the Anglican lineage of these texts is apparent in the declamation of the text (largely homophonic) and the way the organ functions (commenting here, exclaiming there,) there is much more creativity here. A kaleidoscope of moods, rhythms, and colors heightens the meaning and elevates the emotions. Not to be missed.

The American Seasons (violas part – violin and string orchestra) MO148FViolas Part (score and parts available)Music by Mark O’Connor42 pages - 38:00 minutes in length The American Seasons(Seasons Of An American Life)The American Seasons (Seasons Of An American Life) is a concerto for Violin And Chamber Orchestra. Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.719681 Composed by Hans Leo Hassler, Johann Sebastian Bach, Johann Walther, and Martin Luther. Arranged by Curtis Hanson. Easter,Sacred. Octavo. 5 pages. Curtis Hanson #2857833. Published by Curtis Hanson (A0.719681).

Choral SATB choir - Digital Download Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827). Arranged by Hal H. Hopson. Piano Accompaniment. Classics, General Worship, Masterwork, Adoration & Praise, Sacred. Octavo. 8 pages. Hope Publishing - Digital #C5020DP. Published by Hope Publishing - Digital
Opus 13 by Ludwig van Beethoven In the same lineage of Hal Hopson's popular settings of J. S. Bach's "Air on the G Stream" (1997's "Lord, Have Mercy") and the subsequent "Arioso" ("Bless the Lord, My Soul"), here is one of the most beautiful melodies Beethoven wrote - "Adagio from Sonata Pathetique" (Opus 13) - adapted in an earnest choral style with tastefulness and passion. The use of organ in the accompaniment is an inspired twist, adding a freshness to the familiar tune, hitherto known as a piano work.

Tuba Ensemble - Advanced Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Anton Bruckner (1824-1896). Arranged by Robert Coulter. Romantic Period, Sacred. Score, Set of Parts. 16 pages. Published by Cherry Classics Music
Anton Bruckner's Virga Jesse, Motet W.A.B. 52, for 4-part Tuba Ensemble was written in 1885 as a tribute to Jesse, the father of King David. The text is based on Isaiah 11 establishing Jesus in the lineage of King David.<br> <br> The music is symphonic in breadth, but also harkens back to Gregorian Chant and Renaissance polyphony. As with so much of Bruckner's music, long phrases begin softly and mysteriously, building to giant ecstatic climaxes.<br> <br> Robert Coulter has beautifully arranged this work of 4 minutes in length for performers at a moderately advanced level. Parts are all in bass clef for 2 Euphoniums and 2 Tubas.
