Ijexá Rhythm (Brazilian music on percussion)

Concert Band - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.513413 By Marcelo Borba. By Marcelo Barros de Borba. Arranged by Marcelo Borba. Country,Latin,Patriotic,Standards,Traditional. Score and Parts. 2 pages. Marcelo Borba #124181. Published by Marcelo Borba (A0.513413). The preciousness of Brazilian music can be appreciated in this arrangement on the Ijexá rhythm. A small 4-bar Looping for percussion practice. In this arrangement the following percussion instruments are used: Agogô, Afoxé, Atabaque and Alfaia. You can listen to the sound result on the audio available for free. Ijexá is available in full version and with its individual parts. The Ijexá rhythm is a musical form originating in Afro-Brazilian culture, specifically within the traditions of the Jeje people from the former Kingdom of Dahomey (now Benin). Also known as Jexá, Jeje, or Ijeji, Ijexá is often associated with Candomblé, an Afro-Brazilian religion. The history of the Ijexá rhythm dates back to the period of slavery in Brazil when Africans of Jeje ethnicity were brought to the country as slaves. They brought with them their culture, religious traditions, and, of course, their musical expressions. Ijexá is one of the musical manifestations of these people, which developed primarily in the Northeast and Southeast regions of Brazil. The Ijexá rhythm is characterized by a steady beat and a specific rhythmic pattern. It is played in binary meter, with emphasis on the second beat. Instruments used in the execution of Ijexá include atabaques (drums), agogô, xequerê, among others. The lyrics of the songs often address themes related to religion, ancestry, and Afro-Brazilian culture.Over time, Ijexá transcended its original religious context and became incorporated into other Brazilian musical genres, such as popular music, MPB (Música Popular Brasileira), and samba. Its influence can be heard in various compositions, including those by renowned Brazilian artists. The Ijexá rhythm carries a strong cultural and symbolic significance, representing the resistance and preservation of African traditions in Brazil. It is a musical expression that remains alive and present in Brazilian culture, contributing to the diversity and richness of the country's musical heritage.More: https://musicaead.com.br/ijexa-historia-e-cultura-popular/

All Weather Friends - Jazz Waltz - Solo Piano

Piano Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.961560 Composed by Olly Wedgwood. Concert,Jazz,Standards. Score. 3 pages. OllysPianoSheets #5335091. Published by OllysPianoSheets (A0.961560). Friends shouldn't just hang out in fair weather, so here is All Weather Friends, a gentle swing waltz ideal for established intermediate players at about the Grade 4-5 standard (ABRSM).The melody and accompaniment is based upon a classic jazz waltz rhythm, so to get into the feel of this piece, you may find it useful to first practice clapping this rhythm:Remember that the quaver eighth notes are swung. The trick with this piece is to let the melody sing out above the jazz waltz accompaniment, so keep an ear on the melody at all times. In bar 21, the semiquaver 16th notes can be played a little faster than written, which will create more of a 'turn' ornament. Have a listen to the performance recording clip (above) at about halfway through to get the idea. This jazz waltz piano sheet music provides excellent practice for working on phrasing and sustain pedal technique. Occasionally, you may find a couple of hand position changes that risk disrupting the flow of the melodic phrase. In these instances, try a touch of sustain pedal to smooth out the transition. An example of this can be found in bar 31.After the repeated opening melody, the middle section moves into the key of G minor, featuring a rising arpeggio-based accompaniment with sustain pedal. There is a lot of quaver eighth-note movement in this section, so be sure to keep this rhythm smoothly swinging in the usual triplet manner:This middle section reaches a crescendo at bar 37 with a rippling chord effect between both hands. Try experimenting with different ways of splitting up these chords - you could ripple up from the left hand to the right hand, or try rippling both hands at the same time. Stick with whatever sounds good to you! After a poco rall the original melody returns via a D.C. al Coda. As is the convention for first and second time repeat bars, take the second time bar on the D.C. and then to the Coda. The play-along MP3 backing track for this sheet music is also available to download at Sheet Music Plus.Explore more fun piano sheet music by Olly Wedgwood at https://OllysPianoSheets.com I hope you enjoy All Weather Friends, whatever the weather!

(+)
Piano Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1323881 By Michael Buble. By Haven Gillespie and John Frederick Coots. Arranged by Thomas Gunther. Blues,Christmas,Jazz. Score. 5 pages. Thomas Gunther Music Productions #912057. Published by Thomas Gunther Music Productions (A0.1323881). Solo Piano Arrangement By Thomas GuntherSanta Claus Is Coming To Town is another one of my favorite Christmas songs. For some reason I love playing it in a bluesy style, with some jazz voicings. The bridge is more in stride piano style.About The ArrangementThe arrangement includes different stylistic elements found in more traditional popular piano music. It definitely has a bluesy vibe, but also shows elements of jazz and stride piano. When it comes to the form I extended it by adding an intro that comes back in-between sections in form of an interlude. There is also an outro. About The Sheet MusicThe sheet music is basically a transcription of my recording. It contains jazz chord symbols and plentiful of articulations as well as some dynamic markings. My Arranging WorkflowI have different approaches for creating solo piano arrangements of songs. The one I took here is as follows. First I come up with different ideas, try them out, and after a while settle on those I like best. Once I practiced and internalized those ideas I press record and hope for the best. Before the final version is done, I record myself many times over. This gives me the opportunity to improve upon each version until I have one that I feel comfortable with.Recommendations For Learning The SongI recommend that you first listen to my performance while reading along in the sheet music. This way you get a better understanding about the phrasing and the rhythmic feel. You may want to spend a little time just vamping a few bars to get into the groove. When that feels good move on to different sections. The bridge is different in feel because it is based on stride piano rather than blues. Stride piano features big jumps in the left hand and big intervals between the outer notes (up to a 10th). Should you have difficulty in playing those big intervals (smaller hands will make this hard) you may roll the notes and use the sustain pedal. Is This Arrangement For You?This solo piano arrangement is for every pianist who would like to try playing Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town in a more bluesy-jazzy style. Dependent on what your specialty is musically speaking, you made benefit from it in different ways. Here are some examples.Classical PianistsIf you are a classical pianist who rarely listens to jazz and blues music, this arrangement might be a great way to dip your feed into more contemporary genres and styles like blues and jazz. This said, it might be quite challenging. Not from a technical point of view, but from a musical point of view. For example, swung eighth notes and accents and phrasing in blues and jazz are somewhat contrary to classical music. It's gonna be a great learning experience for sure!Jazz PianistsShould you be a jazz musician or blues musician, you may not necessarily want to play the arrangement as written note for note. Instead, you might just fall in love with some of my ideas and create your own arrangement based on those. This goes especially for the solo section. You can play my solo or use it as inspiration for your own solo. Of course experiences blues and jazz musicians will prefer to make up their own solo.I truly hope you have fun playing this arrangement! Yes.

Hark the Herald Angels Sing♫ by Charles Wesley (1739) and Felix Mendelsohn (adapted by W H Cummings (1857) ♫ with  Δόξα á¼Î½ ὑψίστοις θεῷ (Glory to God in the Highest) ♫ original song © 2023 Stephen R Dalrymple♫ piano solo arrangement by Stephen R Dalrymple♫ performed by the arranger♫ music © 2023 Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ recording â„—  2023 Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ presentation © 2023 Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ Charles Wesley started his poem with ‘Listen to the angels !’ This started me wondering, what did the angels’ voices sound like ? ♫ Prosody is study of the intonation, stress, and rhythm of the speech of a language (contrasted with the sounds of the vowels and consonants.) Could I replicate the angel’s basic speech patterns? My study of Greek in seminary has given me a pretty good idea of how to pronounce the consonants and vowels of the Greek language. But I would want to listen to someone who actually speaks Greek as their mother tongue to have an idea of the prosody. After further study, I have rewritten the angels’ music; this update represents my latest understanding.♫ Although Latin was the language of the Roman conquerors, Greek was the lingua franca of the Mediterranean world of the first century. Some scholars want us to believe that most of the Jews were not erudite enough to speak Greek. ♫ Yet those of us who have travelled to countries like Haiti, are not surprised that many people there speak Kreyòl, French, English and Spanish!♫ I began searching for someone who actually spoke Greek conversationally to pronounce Luke 2 :14 in Greek. After I found a reliable source, I reduced the rhythm and the accented sylables to simpified music notation. I pulled from my knowledge of ancient modes and used my imagination to add pitches and repetitions of phrases. The melodic and harmonic result is completely inventive, but I believe the basic rhythm of the speech is fairly accurate.♫ This .pdf file includes 2 files: 1) Letter size piano score 2) Small page piano score for performing from a 10 inch tablet♫ (Tell your computer which pages you want to print. There are programs online that will allow you to split pdf files so that you can choose the correct part of the pdf for your tablet.)♫ A duplicate YouTube Video is available in French (Écoutez le chant des anges) https://youtu.be/9_equasuWR4YouTube Channel: @DalrympleDesigns.

Piano Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1277927 Composed by Terry Gilkyson. Arranged by Thomas Gunther. Comedy,Film/TV,Jazz. Score. 2 pages. Thomas Gunther Music Productions #869433. Published by Thomas Gunther Music Productions (A0.1277927). About the arrangement(See also (PopJazzKeys.com/The-Bare-Necessities)This is a relatively easy to play solo piano jazz arrangement of THE BAR NECESSITIES. The song is a traditional jazz tune made famous in the Walt Disney movie THE JUNGLE BOOK. The video and audio recording I posted here features me playing the short version of my arrangement. When played as written (with all the repeats) it is almost 4 minutes long. What's cool about this arrangement is that you can easily add a bass player and even an entire rhythm section while playing it the same way as you would in a solo performance!Who this arrangement is best suited forI think everyone who likes the song except perhaps advanced jazz pianists will have fun learning and playing this arrangement. I arranged this piece originally with my younger piano students in mind, who have smaller hands than most adults. That’s why there are no large intervals or big jumps in the left hand. Something generally found in ragtime and early jazz piano styles. This means that my arrangement is perfectly suited for pianists with smaller hands. Of course pianists with large hands (like myself) can play it too (ha-ha!).I think it is also a great piece for pianists who want to familiarize themselves with playing jazz piano. And since I wrote out every note and articulation, they can play along with the recording and hopefully pick up the traditional jazz feel along the way.Although the arrangement is not very difficult, it poses several challenges for the inexperienced pianist, as explained later. How I arranged itAs I already explained above, there are no large intervals or big jumps in the left hand to be found. Instead, I focused more on polyphonic arranging techniques, in both hands. I also used guide tones and inversions. The left hand imitates the accompaniment style of a traditional jazz guitar or banjo player with added half time bass figures that are typically played by a tuba or upright bass an octave lower. Tips for how to learn this arrangementWhen I teach this song to my students I strongly recommend to them to listen to the original version and my recording a lot, rather than explaining to them how swinging eighth notes and jazz articulation work. By the way, there are a few bars where you hear me playing straight eighths on the recording (as indicated in the sheet music). I decided to add articulations so that pianists who have not a lot of experience with playing jazz will find it easier to play it with the appropriate “touchâ€. It's a good idea to check those out.Should you not be familiar with playing polyphonic passages with one hand, you might want to practice very slowly at first and attempt to balance the different voices appropriately. Listening to the recording will also help with discovering dynamic possibilities. I didn’t want to clutter up the sheet music with dynamic markings, so listening to the recording is really the only way to figure out what dynamics I had in mind.

"High Hopes" was released by Panic! At The Disco in 2018 as a single from their sixth studio album, "Pray For The Wicked." This upbeat, catchy song soon became a smash hit, reaching number 4 on the Billboard charts and becoming their highest-charting single of all time. This arrangement for string quartet has the exuberant energy, rich harmonic layers, driving beat, and dynamic impact of the original, and it's absolutely as much fun to play as it is to listen to! Great for parties, corporate events, solo & ensemble contests, or even weddings and receptions, it's a guaranteed crowd pleaser and you're sure to get your audience singing along. This arrangement is dedicated to a good friend of mine who was in P!ATD's string section on their "Pray For The Wicked" tour -- Kiara, it was so much fun watching you play this song with them! Rated intermediate, this chart will be playable for students and easily sightreadable for professionals. There is nothing above first position in the V2, viola, and cello parts, and only a few notes higher than that in V1. There are a few tied rhythms in but nothing too complicated.<br> <br> Why choose Cellobat Charts arrangements? For any musician who knows what they're doing, the answer is easy: just listen to them. Every freelance musician has thrown hard-earned money away on questionable, error-filled charts by unknown arrangers from weird corners of the Internet. But watch out -- inferior arrangements not only make gigs less enjoyable to play, but they also make your group sound bad to your client and audience, no matter how great your players really are. That's why Cellobat Charts is here: to provide students and working string players alike with high-quality versions of highly requested music. My arrangements are guaranteed to be energetic, fun to play, and enjoyable to listen to, whether or not you're familiar with the original songs. Hear the difference for yourself! Full videos of many Cellobat Charts arrangements are available on YouTube so you know exactly what you're getting. Click "Watch" near the item details at the top of the page for full video of "High Hopes." Crowd pleasing guaranteed.<br> <br> <br> Sarah "Cellobat" Chaffee earned her bachelor's degree in cello performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music and is now based in Las Vegas. She currently performs with Aerosmith in their "Deuces Are Wild" residency at The Park MGM Theater on the Las Vegas Strip. Sarah is also the principal cellist in David Perrico's Pop Strings Orchestra, a 14-piece band that performs every Friday and Saturday at Caesars Palace, and she plays regularly for Premiere Wedding Music and Bella Electric Strings. Sarah has performed and recorded with many other artists including Halsey, Disturbed, Mötley Crüe, Celine Dion, Kygo, Ricky Martin, Sarah Brightman, Il Divo, and Lady Antebellum. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813826). Largo (from Symphony No. 9 in E minor) (From the New World) (Db) (Clarinet Quintet) - Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of the Largo, based on the second movement of Antonin Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 in E minor, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services, especially Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. This arrangement is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (18 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from the The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time.Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95 (subtitled From the New World and popularly know as the New World Symphony), was composed by Antonin Dvorak in 1893 while he was the director of the National Conservatory of Music of America from 1892 to 1895. It premiered at Carnegie Hall in New York City on December 16, 1893 and has been described as one of the most popular of all symphonies. The second movement of the symphony, upon which this arrangement is based, is marked Largo, and begins with a harmonic progression of chords which is then followed by a solo instrument playing the famous main theme.Dvorak was interested in Native American music and the African-American spirituals he heard in North America. While director of the National Conservatory he encountered an African-American student, Harry T. Burleigh, who sang traditional spirituals to him. Burleigh, later a composer himself, said that Dvorak had absorbed their spirit before writing his own melodies. Dvorak stated:    I am convinced that the future music of this country must be founded on what are called Negro melodies. These can be the foundation of a serious and original school of composition to be developed in the United States. These beautiful and varied themes are the product of the soil. They are folk songs of America and your composers must turn to them.He further explained how Native American music influenced his symphony:  I have not actually used any of these (Native American) melodies. I have simply written original themes embodying the peculiarities of the Indian music, and, using these themes as subjects, have developed them with all the resources of modern rhythms, counterpoint, and orchestral colour. In 1893, a newspaper interview quoted Dvorak as saying, I found that the music of the negroes and of the Indians was practically identical, and that the music of the two races bore a remarkable similarity to the music of Scotland. Most historians agree that Dvorak is referring to the pentatonic scale, which is typical of each of these musical traditions.Dvorak was influenced not only by music he heard, but also by what he had seen, in America. He wrote that he would not have composed his American pieces as he had if he had not seen America. It has been said that Dvorak was inspired by the wide open spaces of America, such as the prairies he may have seen on his trip to Iowa in the summer of 1893. Notices about several performances of the symphony include the phrase wide open spaces about what inspired the symphony and/or about the feelings it conveys to listeners. The theme from the Largo was adapted into the spiritual Goin' Home (often mistakenly considered a folk song or traditional spiritual) by Dvorak's pupil, William Arms Fisher, who wrote the lyrics in 1922. Regis Bookshar thought it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to this version for a Clarinet Quintet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection which are readily available for a wide variety of instrumenta.

Regis Bookshar thought it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to this version for a String Quintet, consisting of 2 Violins, 1 Viola, 1 Violoncello and 1 Double Bass, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this sel.
