It has been also orchestrated by Victor Harbert. This piece requires an important technical level for virtuosistic passages and cadenzas. Yhe nocturne is based on a lyric and very sweet theme that the composer develops during the all pieces with huge passion. Libestraums also has been used in many films as musical background. The arrangement is almost identical to the original score for piano solo and the choice of a clarinet duo is for the division of the parts: first clarinet plays the theme's melody with its warm and tender sound; second clarinet accompanies the melody with large arpeggios and sings with the first.

Known mainly these day for the wonderful 'Scherzo' from his Symphony No.4 in D Minor, during a colourful lifetime, Henry Litolff wrote many virtuosic compositions, indeed he was feted by many of his contemporary peers. Liszt himself in fact dedicated his first piano concerto to Litolff. Les Octaves is a bravura work typical of Litolff's style, this arrangement brings many technical challenges for the five players to 'get their teeth into', not least of course that it is scored for Eb, Bb, A, Basset Horn and Bass Clarinet!
