Alto Flute,Piano,Piccolo,Soprano Flute - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1502424 By Justin K. Reeve. By Justin K. Reeve. Arranged by Justin K. Reeve. Christmas,Holiday,New Age,Religious. Score and part. 4 pages. Justin Kenlon Reeve #1078229. Published by Justin Kenlon Reeve (A0.1502424). In 1887, James R. Murray published this verse and called it “Luther’s Cradle Hymn, composed by Martin Luther for his children, and still sung by German mothers to their little ones.” Incidentally, Martin Luther, the famous father of the Reformation, was not the author, nor was Murray. The origin is a children’s Sunday school book published a few years before Murray’s attribution. The verses have been set to a number of tunes, but this arrangement is set to Murray’s own tune, called “Mueller.”.

Solo Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.924177 Composed by James R. Murray. Arranged by R.S. Carrier. Children,Christian,Christmas,Classical,Sacred. Individual part. 2 pages. Ralph scott carrier #3680995. Published by ralph scott carrier (A0.924177). The beloved Away in a Manger, known to children from two years of age and up. In the key of D (major,) a simple and well known melody. Note: Although I do consider this a simple little song, any thought that this is an unusually easy guitar arrangement would be a mistake. This is, in fact, a rather challenging arrangement, especially the way I have tabbed it. Measures 6 - 9 are particularly difficult. If you can find an easier way to finger it, more power to you. Some contradictory information has been found regarding the attribution of the opus. Some have suggested it was from Martin Luther (himself,) but others have said it was written for his 400th anniversary. But the hymn book I found it in (to copy the lyrics) attributes it to a James R. Murray, so I have also given him credit. It was first published in 1884, in any event.

C Instrument,Folk Instrument,Instrumental Solo,Piano,Treble Clef Instrument,Zither - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.565931 By Sharon Wilson. By James R. Murray and Martin Luther. Arranged by Sharon Wilson. Advent,Children,Christmas,Folk,Sacred. Score and individual part. 7 pages. Sharon Wilson #6597487. Published by Sharon Wilson (A0.565931). Here is an easy instrumental duet arrangement (for BOWED PSALTERY solo with PIANO accompaniment) of the beloved Christmas lullaby Away in a Manger using the tune MUELLER by James R. Murray. The psaltery part was designed for a beginning psaltery player and is written in the key of F major with one flat (B-flat/A-sharp). The piano accompaniment is at the intermediate level. To assist those new to reading music notation, two solo parts are included: one is the standard music notation and includes the lyrics for sing along enjoyment. The second solo part is identical to the standard music but instead of lyrics, the note names are provided below each note (example A, B, C. . .). The psaltery plays the melody throughout for two verses. A piano accompaniment and/or rehearsal track (MP3 format) is available for this arrangement as a separate purchase: Away in a Manger (Piano Accompaniment Track for Easy Bowed Psaltery Solo). The range of a typical soprano psaltery is two octaves beginning with the G above middle C (G4). However, since some psalteries have fewer than 25 strings, the range for this song is only one octave. Also, the notes are written an octave lower on the staff to avoid the ledger line notes that would be required to notate the upper notes. The notated range for this song is C4 (middle C) to C5 (one octave above middle C).The purchase price includes a combined score (grand staff, 3-stave) with both parts (PSALTERY and PIANO) on each page, plus 2 options for the 1-staff solo part (one with lyrics, one with alphabetic note names). This arrangement is one of the 10 songs in the collection Christmas Carols (A Collection of 10 Easy Bowed Psaltery Solos with Piano Accompaniment).Visit Sharon Wilson's website: https://www.sharonwilsonmusic.com/Subscribe to her YouTube Channel: https://youtube.com/@SharonWilsonMusic

B-Flat Clarinet,Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.548475 Composed by Mueller. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Christian,Christmas. Score and part. 3 pages. Jmsgu3 #3386527. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.548475). Traditional Christmas song arranged for Bb Clarinet & Piano. Third verse features new harmony. Score: 2 pg. Part: 1 pg.Away in a Manger Away in a Manger is a popular Christmas song published originally sometime in the later 19th century and performed throughout the world. In England, it is considered one of the two most popular carols of all time; a 1996 poll ranked it as a tie for second place. To begin with, many thought it was written by Martin Luther, but now the song is considered to be absolutely American. The most common musical arrangements are by William Kirkpatrick (1895) and James R. Murray (1887). The melody was first published, as Luther's Cradle Hymn, by James R. Murray. Then, came a confusing series of explanations about how Martin Luther wrote the song. Murray even went so far as to suggest that Luther wrote it for his children. As a result, the song has become known as simply Mueller. Nobody knows who this Mueller actually is, but the name stuck. Popularity By the 1880’s the cradle song was being performed in church. By the 1990’s the song was becoming the most popular Christmas song of all time. It was sung in school, in church, and at home by nearly everyone. Other musical settings The first musical setting published with the lyrics appeared in the Little Children's Book for Schools and Families (1885). The title was Away in a Manger. This edition is the first one not to attribute the song to Martin Luther. Charles H. Gabriel was the first arranger to present the third verse. He also composed and published a large number of different arrangements of the song. In one of his settings, he supplies a chorus for each verse with asleep sung in canon. Another prevalent preparation uses the lyrics to the melody Flow Gently, Sweet Afton. Yet another arrangement dating uses the lyrics to an old Normandy Carol. Murray even went so far as to suggest that Luther wrote it for his children. As a result, the music has become known as Mueller. Nobody knows who this Mueller is, but the name stuck. Popularity By the 1880's the cradle song was being performed in church. By the 1990's the song was becoming the most popular Christmas song ever. Nearly everyone sang it in school, in church, and at home. Other musical settings The first musical setting published with the lyrics appeared in the Little Children's Book for Schools and Families (1885). The title was Away in a Manger. This edition is the first one not attributing the song to Martin Luther. Charles H. Gabriel was the first arranger to present the third verse. He also composed and published many different arrangements of the song. In one of his settings, he supplies a chorus for each verse with asleep sung in canon. Another prevalent preparation uses the lyrics to the melody Flow Gently, Sweet Afton Yet another arrangement uses the songs to an old Normandy carol.Â

Murray.
