Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.891205 Composed by Traditional Irish. Arranged by Laurie Betts Hughes. Contemporary,Folk,World. Octavo. 26 pages. Dandelion Music Press #3104495. Published by Dandelion Music Press (A0.891205). The first of three movements, here is a great opportunity to collaborate with a children's or youth choir and Irish instrumentalists, or to freely substitute any treble solo and Western instrumental equivalent.Included in Project : Encore 2017Lost Songs of Ancient Ireland, for Mixed Choir with Treble Descant, Piano or Harp, Bodhran, Irish Flute, and Violin, is a three-movement song cycle that focuses on the shifting relationships over the scope of a lifetime from the differing perspective of each person involved. I. Old Beggarman- Two interwoven jigs, It Was an Old Beggarman, Weary and Wet and Ag an mBóithrÃn Buà (At the Yellow Little Road), of both a young lady's observation of a wandering beggarman and his unrequited, possibly unexpressed, love for her. They are offered together as alternate perspectives from potential romantic partners, and features lilting, mouth music, or portaireacht bhéil (port a'bhéil, mouth-singing) as it is known in Irish Gaelic.II. I Would Rock My Child to Sleep- A sentimental Irish lullaby Irish lullaby Do Chuirfinnse Féin Mo Leanbh a Chodladh (I Would Put My Own Child to Sleep) highlights the shifting roles of a caregiver: the parent full of hopes of the parent for the child morphing over a lifetime into a blessing from the grown child to the aged parent. Each verse is progressively based upon an overall narrative: 1. hopes of the parent for the child 2. an easy, natural rhythm to family life, possibly the child is older now, and there is a dream of family continuance 3. uncertainty over who is nurturing who: does the child now sing to comfort the parent? 4. a closing blessing for peace and rest that hearkens back to the successful sleep of a tired infant III. The Drummer- An energetic reel, a combination of Maidin Fhómhair, nó CailÃn Péacach (The Harvest Maiden, or Sprouting Maiden) and Cormac Spáinneach, nó An Drumadóir (Cormac Spaineach, or The Drummer), alternating between romantic partners encased by a nostalgic love song, suggesting the passing of a lifetime.Commissioned by Cora Voce; Tacoma, WASet of three and single movements available for purchase.2017 Choral Contest EntryLaurie Betts Hughes, ASCAP | www.LaurieBettsHughes.com

We Gather Together - trombone, flute, piano

Instrumental Duet,Piano Flute,Instrumental Duet,Piano,Trombone - Digital Download SKU: A0.726101 Arranged by Traditional, Johann Cruger. Christian,Holiday,Sacred. Score and parts. 12 pages. Con Spirito Music #6077249. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.726101). This arrangement for trombone, flute, and piano brings together two hymn tunes that are especially popular at the American holiday of Thanksgiving, but appropriate at any time of year. We gather together are the opening words to a poem written by the Dutch poet and composer Adrianus Valerius in 1597 to celebrate the Dutch victory in a long-standing dispute with Spain. 1878, the Austrian composer/conductor Edward Kremser arranged six Dutch folk songs for men's voices, including Prayer of Thanksgiving: Old Dutch Melody, with texts in German. In 1894, Theodore Baker (editor of Baker's Biographical Dictionary of Musicians) translated the German text of Prayer of Thanksgiving into the familiar English version, We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing, that is sung today. Now Thank We All Our God is Catherine Winkworth's (1827-1878) translation of the German Nun Danket Alle Gott, written by Lutheran clergyman and hymn-writer Martin Rinckart (1586-1649). Rinckart's text, based on a passage from Ecclesiasticus, was set to a chorale tune by Johann Cruger (1598-1662) in his 1647 collection, Praxis pietatis melica (The Practice of Piety in Song), a hymnal for use in public worship and private devotions. Like We Gather Together, it is strongly associated the Thanksgiving holiday and other services of thanksgiving. Copyright 2015 Todd Marchand / www.ConSpiritoMusic.com

String Orchestra - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1155289 By Traditional Sea Chantey's. By Traditional. Arranged by Bob Mathews. Historic,Multicultural,Traditional,World. Score and Parts. 23 pages. Bob Mathews #755581. Published by Bob Mathews (A0.1155289). Sea chantey’s sometimes spelled shantey’s were songs that were played or sung aboard ships so men could work together doing the everyday tasks such as raising and lowering sails raising and lowering anchors, loading or unloading cargo. Ships had a “shanteyman†whose job it was to lead the men in song. There were often specific songs for each task. These wonderful melodies have found their way into the realm of folk songs today.

Piano,Voice Duet Baritone Horn TC,Piano,Soprano voice - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1101414 Composed by Brett L. Wery. Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,Multicultural,World. 52 pages. Sonata Grendel Publishing #704802. Published by Sonata Grendel Publishing (A0.1101414). I. Hammering on Rocks text by Joseph Ross II. Normal text by Reginald Harris III. My Body Holds Stones text by Laura Tohe IV. The Museum of Stones text by Carolyn Forché. Quarry Songs were written as a project initiated by my long-time friend and colleague, Mark Evans. Mark and I have spent hundreds of hours rehearsing and performing together so when he asked me to participate in a project to create a song cycle as part of a residency at the Avaloch Farm Music Institute in New Hampshire, I said yes immediately. Joining us were former students, now colleagues, Areli Mendoza-Pannone (soprano) and Robert Frazier (baritone). During our residency at Avaloch, the trio and I organized Zoom meetings with the poets and work-shopped many sections of the songs. I am immensely grateful for the contributions Mark, Areli, and Bobby made to this piece. I am especially indebted to the four amazing poets for their powerful, inspiring poems. These are works of courage, honesty, and craftsmanship and I’m humbled by the writer’s trust and generosity as I attempt to add a dimension to their work that is worthy of the source. The poems represent varied American perspectives of the artifacts of human existence and the trajectory of our culture(s), the human capacity to grow numb to suffering, the weight and cost of identity—self imposed and projected—on ourselves, our nation, and our children. Most importantly the poems witness our power to change the world through art. These poems recall the courage of Nelson Mandela, the paralysis that comes with the twenty year old war in Afghanistan, the lasting wounds of inflicted upon children in boarding schools designed to eradicate native cultures, and the markers of war and suffering that call as much for hope as for remorse. I chose poets whose voices represent not only suppressed perspectives but also the voices of Americans born of privilege, willing to use the power of art to focus the readers’ minds on the rough truths of our shared history as Americans.

Guitar,High Voice,Instrumental Duet - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1385461 Composed by Antonin Dvorak. Arranged by Josef Mazan, Ph.D. 19th Century,Classical. 21 pages. Josef Mazan #969442. Published by Josef Mazan (A0.1385461). This is an arrangement of Gypsy Songs by AntonÃn Dvořák for soprano and classical guitar. It has seven movements, and we performed this in Japan together with Siete Canciones Españolas by Falla. It goes nicely together. Gypsy Songs use three different tunings, to fit original Dvořák's tonalities, and are very challenging.

Guitar,Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.801677 Composed by Connie Boss. Celtic,Christmas,Irish,Sacred. Score. 120 pages. Connie Boss #6414353. Published by Connie Boss (A0.801677). This lovely cantata is about how we gather together in song to celebrate the birth of Jesus. It has a Celtic feel and the songs are from several different countries - United States, Ireland, England, France, Germany, Scotland, Italy. There are 8 songs included, 2 originals, 2 medleys and 4 songs that you know and love included also. All of the songs are in SATB with an (optional) accent instrument part (choice of flute, violin or cello - parts included at the end of each score) - the score has the flute part so you can see where the accent instrument fits into the score. A simple piano part is included in each score. The voices and accent instruments help to complete the entire piece. You can also purchase individual songs on here separately if you choose to not purchase the whole cantata. However, it is a bargain to purchase the cantata. There are narration parts before each song that give a little history of the song. You can opt out of using them if desired. The titles of the songs are: 1. Baby, Jesus, Was Born Unto This Earth. (original) 2. Christ Child's Lullaby. 3. Bring a Torch Jeanette, Isabella. 4. Christmas Carols - Coventry and Wexford. 5. Good Christian Men Rejoice. 6. O Come Let Us Adore Him, Christ the Lord - (In the Bleak Midwinter, Gesu Bambino, The Snow Lay on the Ground) 7. Peace on Earth (original) 8. Sing We Now of Christmas. Take a little time to listen to the mp3 attached. It has computer voices, but you can get an idea of what it is supposed to sound like. It also has one of the instrument parts as a sample and then the piano on each one. Any questions, please email me at cdboss@cvalley.net. I'm glad to work with you. This is my 5th cantata and most recent one. You can purchase the other 4 on here - check them out. You can also purchase in book form any of these on Amazon. I have background accompaniment to these songs. If you purchase a book and would like them, please email me with proof of purchase and I will email them back to you. .

Folk Songs for 13-note Bells and Boomwhackers® (with Color Coded Notes), VOL. 1

Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Sharon Wilson. Repertoire, Classroom, Folk, Chi…
(+)
Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Sharon Wilson. Repertoire, Classroom, Folk, Children's Music, Old-time. Score, Set of Parts. 176 pages. Published by Sharon Wilson
This sheet music collection of 20 folk songs is notated for 13-note (one octave, C to C chromatic scale) instruments with Handbells on one staff and Boomwhackers® on a second staff creating an instrumental ensemble (requires one set of each instrument). Handbells play the melody while the Boomwhackers® keep a steady beat with three-note chords. For each song, there is a combined score with both parts on a grand staff plus a separate 1-staff score for each individual part. A note and chord reference chart is also provided for each song.<br> <br> The songs in this digital book are ordered by difficulty with the easiest songs presented first. The songs progressively incorporate more challenging rhythms, some requiring rapid chord changes. Many of the songs include two verses. The first verse is “easy” with fewer notes. The second verse is “intermediate” and expands the melody by adding more notes (sometimes including harmony notes). If you want to learn (practice) only the “easy” verse, an optional ending is provided or it can be skipped to perform the two verses together.<br> <br> Though this sheet music is notated for Handbells and Boomwhackers®, these arrangements are playable by any 13-note, C to C chromatic scale (one octave) instrument such as a xylophone or glockenspiel. The melody could also be played by a recorder.<br> <br> This set of scores uses colored noteheads corresponding to the Boomwhackers® color scheme. If you have a set of bells or tubes with a different color scheme, “Chroma-Notes Stick Ons” can be purchased and applied so the instruments match the Boomwhackers® color scheme. This set of scores is also available (separate purchase) in black and white which will print clearer if you do not have access to a color printer.<br> <br> Only filled noteheads (quarter and eighth notes) are used so the notes are full color and easier to see (this does not indicate the bells need to be silenced immediately before the next beat). Also, only quarter and eighth rests are used to help visualize the number of beats per measure. Duration: ca. 3:00, score: 5 pages, solo part: 1 page, piano part: 2 pages.Very famous song suitable for church, recital or nightclub. I Write the Songs is a popular song written by Bruce Johnston in 1975 and made famous by Barry Manilow. Manilow's version reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in January 1976[2] after spending two weeks atop the Billboard adult contemporary chart in December 1975.[3] It won a Grammy Award for Song of the Year and was nominated for Record of the Year in 1977.[3] Billboard ranked it as the No. 13 song of 1976.[4]The original version was recorded by The Captain & Tennille, who worked with Johnston in the early 1970s with The Beach Boys. It appears on their 1975 album, Love Will Keep Us Together. The first release of I Write the Songs as a single was by then teen-idol David Cassidy from his 1975 solo album The Higher They Climb, which was also produced by Bruce Johnston. Cassidy's version reached #11 on the UK Singles Chart in August of that year.[5]Johnston has stated that, for him, the I in the song is God,[2] and that songs come from the spirit of creativity in all of us. He has said that the song is not about his Beach Boys bandmate Brian Wilson.[6]Manilow was initially reluctant to record the song, stating in his autobiography Sweet Life: The problem with the song was that if you didn't listen carefully to the lyric, you would think that the singer was singing about himself. It could be misinterpreted as a monumental ego trip.[3] After persuasion by Clive Davis, then president of Arista Records, Manilow recorded the song, and his version of I Write the Songs was the first single taken from the album Tryin' to Get the Feeling. It first charted on the Billboard Hot 100 on November 15, 1975, reaching the top of the chart nine weeks later, on January 17, 1976. Wikipedia

Wikipedia
