Gabrieli: Sonata Pian e Forte, Ch. 175 for Trumpet & Trombone Choir
Trumpet, Trombone (duet)

(+)
Brass Band Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1220622 Composed by Giovanni Gabrieli. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Contest,Early Music,Festival,Historic,Instructional,Renaissance. Score and Parts. 45 pages. Jmsgu3 #816951. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1220622). A musical monument: the first composition to employ dynamics Minimum Instrumentation: 4 Trumpets, 2 Alto Trombones, 3 Tenor Trombones, 1 Bass Trombone, and 1 Tuba. Suggested instrumentation: 8 trumpets, 4 Alto Trombones, 6 Tenor Trombones, 2 Bass Trombones, 4 Tubas.InnovationsFirst of all, Gabrieli preferred sacred vocal and certainly instrumental music. Hence, he concentrated on music that consequently took advantage of resonance and likewise reverberation for maximum effect. Seems like Gabrieli may have invented dynamics – or was rather the first to indicate them such as in his Sonata Pian’ e Forte. Consequently, he was also a pioneer in spatial techniques. He therefore developed and used very specific notation to indicate instrumentation. Gabrieli experimented with assembling massive instrumental forces into isolated groups separated by space. In this way, he consequently contributed heavily to the Baroque Concertato style.Polychoral WorksGabrieli probably used the layout of the San Marco church for his experiments. This is because he worked there as a musician and composer. Furthermore, the church had two choir lofts facing each other. He certainly used these to create striking spatial effects between instrumental forces. Certainly, many of his works are composed such that a choir or instrumental group could first be heard on one side, then consequently followed by a response from the group on the other side. Sometimes there was probably a third group positioned near the main altar as well.Spatial MusicAbove all, Gabrieli studied carefully detailed groups of instruments and singers. Furthermore, it seems like he created precise directions for instrumentation rather than two groups. The instruments, because they could be appropriately situated, could consequently be heard with perfect clearness at distant locations. As a result, arrangements that seem bizarre on paper, can in contrast sound perfectly in balance.First WorksFinally, Gabrieli published his first motets along with his uncle Andrea's compositions in Concerti (1587). These compositions furthermore indicate considerable usage of dialogue and echo effects. Consequently, here we see low and high choirs with the variance between their ranges indicated by instrumental accompaniment. Seems like Gabrieli’s later motets Sacrae Symphoniae (1597) move away from close antiphony. In contrast, he moves towards not simply echoing the material but developing it through sequential choral entrances. Even more, he takes this procedure to the extreme in the Motet Omnes Gentes. Unlike earlier works, here the instruments are certainly an essential part of the presentation. Also, only parts marked: Capella are supposed to be sung.HomophonyHence, after 1605, Gabrieli moves to a much more homophonic style. He writes sections purely for instruments – which he calls Sinfonia – and smaller sections for vocal soloists, accompanied by a basso continuo.

Trombone Duet Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1356967 Composed by Marco Bordogni. Arranged by Ran Whitley. 19th Century,Opera. Score. 142 pages. Gordon Cherry #941598. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.1356967). Since Joannes Rochut's 1928 arrangements of the Bordogni Vocalises for the Trombone, these bel canto etudes have become the backbone of every serious musician of that instrument. Rochut's three books comprising the 120 Bordogni etudes focus on most every facet of trombone legato, beauty of sound and even provide some rhythmic and technical challenges, especially in Book III.Ran Whitely has done an excellent job of composing the accompaniment to these gorgeous melodies with his new work Melodious Duets for Trombones, Book III (91-120) based on the same by Mr. Rochut. These challenging duets for advanced performers will test the skills of the performers in ensemble, intonation, blend, technique and rhythm. This 142 page book is available in download format only and can easily be loaded onto a tablet for easy reading.

Saxophone Quintet,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Baritone Saxophone,Soprano Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1108370 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Chamber,Christian,Classical,Instructional,Religious. 25 pages. Regis Bookshar #711010. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1108370). Recordare (from Requiem (K. 626) - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart/Franz Xaver Sussmayr - Saxophone Quintet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. Hauntingly beautiful is how the Recordare from Mozart's Requiem is often described. Originally written for an orchestra and four vocal soloists, it has now been transcribed by Regis Bookshar for a Saxophone Quintet, consisting of 1 Soprano Saxophone, 2 Alto Saxophones, 1 Tenor Saxophone and 1 Baritone Saxophone, and would be a wonderful addition to any music library. This arrangement will provide students with the opportunity to practice breath control because of its long, sustained phrases. This selection could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this arrangement. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (25 pages). The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble has performed the Trumpet Quintet version of the Recordare for funerals, providing beautiful, introspective music for the occasion. There is some controversy surrounding the circumstances of the Requiem's composition because Mozart died before he could complete it. Count Franz von Walsegg had commissioned a Requiem Mass but Mozart had received only half of the payment in advance. So, upon his death on December 5th, 1791, his widow, Constanze, wished to have the work completed secretly by someone else and submit it to the count as having been completed by Mozart to collect the final payment. Joseph von Eybler was one of the first composers to be asked to complete the score and had worked on a number of movements but felt unable to complete the remainder and gave the manuscript back to Constanze Mozart. The task was then given to another composer, Franz Xaver Sussmayr. Sussmayr borrowed some of Eybler's work in making his completion, added his own orchestration to other movements and added several new movements which a Requiem Mass would normally comprise. He then added a final section by adapting the opening two movements which Mozart had written to the different words which finish the Requiem Mass, which according to both Sussmayr and Mozart's wife, was done according to Mozart's directions. The completed score, initially by Mozart but largely finished by Sussmayr, was then dispatched to Count Walsegg complete with a counterfeited signature of Mozart dated 1792. Despite the controversy over how much of the music is actually Mozart's, the commonly performed Sussmayr version has become widely accepted by the public, and is considered one of Mozart's finest compositions. The Recordare is considered by many people to be one of the most beautiful compositions in Mozart's entire catalogue. Regis Bookshar, a trumpet player, has performed the Requiem in concert with a full orchestra, soloists and a chorus and felt that other musicians should have the opportunity to play the hauntingly beautiful Recordare as well. So, in addition to this arrangement for a Saxophone Quintet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this beautiful composition. There are Quintets, Sextets, Septets and Octets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may fine something else which may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of Mozart's Recordare, will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

Masquerade Music #916084. Published by Masquerade Music (A0.1328094). Groove Zones Christmas! (for that alternative Christmas!) - Bb saxophone edition (tenor or soprano sax) published October 2023 by www.masquerade-music.com ... a journey on three levels and a collaboration of Keri Degg, Chris Lawry, and Jack Lennon. The  download includes superior quality full demonstration and accompaniment only audio tracks for all the pieces (street, town, and city variants) so 20 audio tracks in all. The audio downloads code is given in the publication.Groove Zones Christmas! (like the other titles in the Groove Zones series) are designed to grow with you as you explore from street (around grade 2-4) to town (around grade 3-5) and finally to the city (grade 5/6+) and embraces a more commercial saxophone sound that will be highly appealing and a great motivator for personal practice. The five pieces in the book (Jingle Bingle Bells, Carol from Sussex, In Dulci Jubilo, We Three Kings of Old London, and Deck the (Terry) Halls) each appear in the three difficulty levels (so really there are fifteen pieces in the book) and have been carefully notated/articulated to provide that authentic commercial sound (in many styles from Big Band, Metal/Rock, Jazz Waltz, Blues, and even Ska - think of the band Madness or The Specials and you're on the right wavelength!).Jingle Bingle Bells begins as a luscious ballad in a style inspired by some of our popular Crooners like Michael Buble (with regards to the other Crooner, the clue is in the title!) but soon launches into a joyous upbeat big band swing before finally returning from whence it came. You can almost see and smell the gently falling snow! The three versions are included: Jingle Bingle Bells (Street) - around grade 2-4, Jingle Bingle Bells (Town) - around grade 3-5, and Jingle Bingle Bells (City) - grade 5/6+Carol from Sussex is a Metal/Rock twisted arrangement of the original (Sussex Carol) and features the vocal talents of Mr Nick McCarthy with his fun interjections! This arrangement really romps along, though the Street edition is cleverly arranged to make the tune basically half the speed for lesser experienced players. Conjure up an idea of the mysterious Carol from Sussex as you enjoy this festive showpiece! The three versions are included: Carol from Sussex (Street) - around grade 2-4, Carol from Sussex (Town) - around grade 3-5, and Carol from Sussex (City) - grade 5/6+In Dulci Jubilo is a sweet and laid back number arranged in a Jazz Waltz style with oodles of space to soar on notes. Enjoy the little musical quotes at the end (how may Carols can you pick out?). The three versions are included: In Dulci Jubilo (Street) - around grade 2-4, In Dulci Jubilo (Town) - around grade 3-5, and In Dulci Jubilo (City) - grade 5/6+We Three Kings of Old London is a darker Cityscape in a Blues/alternative style. Full of sound effects such as the rumblings of the underground and an echoey sax down a deserted street (and do we hear Father Christmas somewhere in the distance?!) there are some really sleazy play offs between the sax and the guitar at the start and end (inspired perhaps 'Lily was Here' - Candy Dulfer and Dave Stewart). A really satisfying play! The three versions are included: We Three Kings of Old London (Street) - around grade 2-3, We Three Kings of Old London (Town) - around grade 3-5, and We Three Kings of Old London (City) - grade 5/6+.

Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Digital Download SKU: A0.1158495 Composed by Haans Eisler. Arranged by Keith Terrett. Historic,Multicultural,Patriotic,Traditional,World. 10 pages. Keith Terrett #758783. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1158495). The former East German National Anthem arranged for Brass Quintet. In 1949, the Soviet occupation zone of Allied-occupied Germany became a socialist state under the name of the German Democratic Republic (GDR). For the nascent state's national anthem, the poet Johannes Becher, who later became the East German Minister of Culture, wrote the lyrics. Two musicians, Ottmar Gerster and Hanns Eisler, proposed music to Becher's lyrics, and Eisler's version was selected. History Written in 1949, the East German national anthem reflects the early stages of German separation, in which continuing progress towards reunification of the occupation zones was seen by most Germans as appropriate and natural. Consequently, Becher's lyrics develop several connotations of unity and combine them with fatherland (einig Vaterland), meaning Germany as a whole. However, this concept soon would not conform to an increasingly icy Cold War context, especially after the Berlin Wall had been erected in 1961 by the East German government.[1] In September 1973, East and West Germany were admitted to the United Nations simultaneously, following talks between the two governments that conferred a degree of mutual recognition. The term Germany was later removed from the East German constitution, and only the national anthem's tune was played on official occasions. No new lyrics were ever written to replace Becher's, which continued to be used unofficially, especially after die Wende in late 1989: once it became clear that the countries were actually moving towards reunification, East German television Deutscher Fernsehfunk reinstated the work and signed off every night with a joyous symphonic rendition of the vocal arrangement, with accompanying picturesque footage of East Germany's main tourist attractions. Auferstanden aus Ruinen ceased to be a national anthem when the German Democratic Republic dissolved and its states joined the Federal Republic of Germany as a result of German reunification in 1990. Deutschlandlied, composed in 1841, became the national anthem of a united Germany again. East German Premier Lothar de Maizière had proposed that Becher's lyrics be added to the united German national anthem, but this was rejected by his West German counterpart, chancellor Helmut Kohl. At the end of its last broadcast on 2 October 1990, the East German international radio broadcaster Radio Berlin International signed off with a vocal version of the East German national anthem. In November 1995, Auferstanden aus Ruinen was played again when German President Roman Herzog visited Brazil. This was the first event at which the anthem had been played since the German reunification.

Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Trombone,Trumpet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.589088 Composed by David McKeown. Concert,Latin,Standards,World. Score and parts. 8 pages. David McKeown #5744005. Published by David McKeown (A0.589088). Merengue de MerlÃn is an exciting original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for one Trumpet and one Trombone. This duet is based on the traditional Latin style of Merengue that emerged in the Dominican Republic during the Nineteenth Century. Merengue Tipico bands maintain the traditional instrumentation of the double-headed tambora drum, güira, accordion and vocal, while urban bands in the North American diaspora often add saxophone, bass and other percussion. The Merengue dance became hugely popular in the 1950s and new forms continue to draw audiences around the world. If you play to an intermediate standard and upwards, then you and your audience will enjoy this piece. The steady quintilla tambora rhythm is present throughout, and following the precise articulation in the score will help convey the style. The main challenge is the fast tempo and melodies should be clearly articulated. Merengue de MerlÃn has a performance time of around two and a half minutes at full tempo. You can listen to a full performance the Alto Saxophone version of this duet by following the YouTube link above. There are many more top quality arrangements and compositions by David McKeown for you to browse at http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/david-mckeown/6203

Trombone Duet Trombone - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.589038 Composed by David McKeown. Concert,Latin,Standards,World. Score. 8 pages. David McKeown #5743997. Published by David McKeown (A0.589038). Merengue de MerlÃn is an exciting original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for two Trombones.

Saxophone Quintet,Woodwind Ensemble Alto Saxophone,Tenor Saxophone - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1108375 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Chamber,Christian,Classical,Instructional,Religious. 25 pages. Regis Bookshar #711015. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1108375). Recordare (from Requiem (K. 626) - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart/Franz Xaver Sussmayr - Saxophone Quintet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. Hauntingly beautiful is how the Recordare from Mozart's Requiem is often described. Originally written for an orchestra and four vocal soloists, it has now been transcribed by Regis Bookshar for a Saxophone Quintet, consisting of 2 Alto Saxophones and 3 Tenor Saxophones, and would be a wonderful addition to any music library.

Brass Quintet Euphonium,Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.840947 Composed by Hans Leo Hassler. Arranged by Richard Decker. Chamber,Early Music,Multicultural,Renaissance,World. 62 pages. Charles Decker Music Press #447653. Published by Charles Decker Music Press (A0.840947). Hans Leo Hassler (1562-1612) was truly a Renaissance man. Not only was he a noted composer of sacred (Roman Catholic and Protestant) and secular music both instrumental and vocal, but he was also a talented organist, Kappelmeister in various churches and cities, music businessman and additionally involved in the construction and manufacture of mechanical musical instruments. Though spending most of his professional life in German (Augsburg, Nuremburg and Dresden), Hassler studied with Andrea Gabrieli in Venice alongside fellow student Giovanni Gabrieli. These three vocal works highlight his integration of the leading compositional styles of the time including his foray into significant chromaticism in his Ad Dominum, cum tribularer. Brass quintets will find these three vocal transcriptions a welcome addition to the literature and concert repertoire. The arrangement is scored for two B-flat trumpets with optional C trumpet parts, horn in F, trombone and tuba. The recording is of the entire edition.See more than 70 mixed brass ensemble publications with Charles Decker Music Press at Sheet Music Plus for inexperienced to advanced musicians with music ranging from the Renaissance to contemporary new works for trios, quartets, quintets, brass choir and brass band. Many of the mixed brass ensemble editions include alternate and substitute parts being alternate C trumpet parts for B-flat trumpet parts, flugelhorn/trumpet substitute for horn, horn substitute for trombone and treble clef euphonium substitute for trombone.
