Brass Quintet Cornet,Euphonium,Flugelhorn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1145313 Composed by Will Marion Cook. Arranged by Charles Decker. 20th Century,Broadway,Jazz,Multicultural,Musical/Show,Pop,World. 20 pages. Charles Decker Music Press #745558. Published by Charles Decker Music Press (A0.1145313). Swing Along! by Will Marion Cook, prominent African-American in Music Theater, composer, conductor, and violinist, combines Cakewalk style with classical music techniques to create an entertaining and memorable work from the early 20th century now arranged for a brass quintet of two trumpets or cornets in B-flat, horn in F (alternate flugelhorn part provided), trombone and tuba. The recording is of the complete edition. Cook was a key figure in American music from the 1890s to the 1920s. His Swing Along! was written for a theater production in 1903 combining Black folk music with classical music techniques and became a popular standard with choruses and glee clubs. A violin virtuoso, he studied at Oberlin College, Berlin's Hochschule für Musik with Joseph Joachim, and New York's National Conservatory of Music with Antonin Dvorak. He devoted his career to Black musical comedies and was instrumental in showcasing his Southern Syncopated Orchestrat throughout the Unites States and Europe, featuring New Orleans clarinetist Sidney Bechet. Mentored by Frederick Douglas, Will Marion Cook went on to mentor Duke Ellington, paving the path for orchestral concert jazz. “The Music of Black Composers Series is a welcome and timely addition to the brass repertoire. Interesting music, expertly arranged, fun to perform, and well received by audiences. Highly recommended!” Wesley Nance, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Eastman School of Music“I was so pleased to see the great works arranged for brass ensemble by Charles Decker Music Press especially the Music of Black Composers’ Series. It was especially rewarding to perform several of these with Summit Brass and with the students attending the Rafael Mendez Brass institute. Please keep these wonderful settings coming. You have provided the brass world with some real gems.” Joseph Parisi, Director Summit Brass, Fountain City Brass Band, University of Missouri Kansas City Conservatory Wind EnsembleThe Interlochen Arts Academy and the University of Denver have purchased the Music of Black Composer Series with Charles Decker Music Press and the summer Rafael Mendez Brass Institute and Eastman School of Music uses the series arrangements in their chamber and brass ensembles music programs. See 50+ homogeneous brass editions for trumpet, horn and trombone ensembles and 75+ mixed brass ensemble publications with Charles Decker Music Press at Sheet Music Plus for inexperienced to advanced musicians with music ranging from the Renaissance to contemporary new works for trios, quartets, quintets, brass choir and brass band. Capriccio Italien, Op. 45
Brass Quintet: 2 trumpets, horn, trombone, tuba
Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1375583
(+)
Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1375583 Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Arranged by Dennis Wright (Arranger) & Peet du Toit (Orchestrator). Romantic Period. 58 pages. Peet du Toit #960114. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.1375583). The Capriccio Italien, Op. 45, is a fantasy for orchestra composed between January and May 1880 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. It premiered 18 December, 1880 (New System) in Moscow, conducted by Nikolay Rubinstein. The Capriccio was inspired by a trip Tchaikovsky took to Rome with his brother Modest as respite from the composer's disastrous marriage with Antonina Miliukova. It was in Rome, however, that the observant Tchaikovsky called Raphael a Mozart of painting. While in Rome, he wrote to his friend Nadezhda von Meck:I have already completed the sketches for an Italian fantasia on folk tunes for which I believe a good fortune may be predicted. It will be effective, thanks to the delightful tunes which I have succeeded in assembling partly from anthologies, partly from my own ears in the streets. The composer was able to soak up Italian street music and folk songs which he then incorporated into his Capriccio. This enables some bright primary colors and uncomplicated tunefulness..

Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1329725 Composed by Alan Silvestri. Arranged by Alessandro Macrì. Contest,Festival,Film/TV,Video Game. 13 pages. Music Macri Editions #917710. Published by Music Macri Editions (A0.1329725). Avengers: Endgame (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is the film score for the Marvel Studios film Avengers: Endgame composed and conducted by Alan Silvestri. In June 2016, Alan Silvestri, who composed the score for The Avengers, was revealed to be returning to score both Infinity War and Endgame. Discussing the tone of the film, Silvestri said that the Russos wanted it to be operatic for both films, with Endgame needing an aggressive musical approach. He stated that he found the film's pace to be invigorating, after having thunderous percussion and powerful brass propelling the massive battle sequences. Silvestri reprises his themes from the previous Avengers (2012) films and Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), as well as several other MCU themes, including Christophe Beck's Ant-Man theme, Michael Giacchino's Doctor Strange (2016) theme, and Pinar Toprak's Captain Marvel (2019) theme. Silvestri also reassured fans that Thanos's theme from Infinity War was present in the film. The score was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London with the London Symphony Orchestra consisting of about 95 musicians with Silvestri and orchestrator Mark Graham conducting the sessions. Scoring concluded in late March 2019.

Brass Quintet Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1377086 By Vangelis. By Vangelis. Arranged by Nicholas Hare (Arranger) & Peet du Toit (Orchestrator). Film/TV. 11 pages. Peet du Toit #961705. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.1377086). Chariots of Fire is a 1981 British historical sports drama film directed by Hugh Hudson, written by Colin Welland and produced by David Puttnam. It is based on the true story of two British athletes in the 1924 Olympics: Eric Liddell, a devout Scottish Christian who runs for the glory of God, and Harold Abrahams, an English Jew who runs to overcome prejudice. Ben Cross and Ian Charleson star as Abrahams and Liddell, alongside Nigel Havers, Ian Holm, John Gielgud, Lindsay Anderson, Cheryl Campbell, Alice Krige, Brad Davis and Dennis Christopher in supporting roles. Kenneth Branagh makes his debut in a minor role.Chariots of Fire was nominated for seven Academy Awards and won four, including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay and Best Original Score for Vangelis' electronic theme tune. At the 35th British Academy Film Awards, the film was nominated in 11 categories and won in three, including Best Film. It is ranked 19th in the British Film Institute's list of Top 100 British films. The film's title was inspired by the line Bring me my Chariot of fire! from the William Blake poem adapted into the British hymn and unofficial English anthem Jerusalem; the hymn is heard at the end of the film.[4] The original phrase chariot(s) of fire is from 2 Kings 2:11 and 6:17 in the Bible.Nicholas Hare's cunning arrangement of the composition inspired me to orchestrate it for a brass quintet, where mostly the tuba plays percussive effects to indicate the tension of the race. Enjoy!

Brass Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.792338 Composed by Wolking, Henryenry. 20th Century,Contemporary,Jazz,Ragtime. Score and parts. 56 pages. Gordon Cherry #4804655. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.792338). As an adult I occasionally try to remember and or capture child-like experiences-maybe not so much the actual event, but the emotive atmosphere left from impressions long ago embedded in the psyche. Each movement of this work is based on spontaneous and uncalculated musical imagery of dreams and childhood reflections. I have deliberately avoided the professional composer’s bag of developmental tricks and worked for a more free flow of simple melodic ideas: they go wherever they want.Movement IInspired by the feelings I had growing up on Merritt Island Florida with my older sister Barbara. This music was a gift to her on the occasion of her 2004 marriage in Flemington New Jersey. It was originally scored for a brass quartet with which I performed. I have written three other brass quintets, and when I started thinking about this one (my fourth) this seemed like a logical choice for a first movement.Movement IIBased on a tune that came to me in a dream. It is dedicated to my wife Lois (we also married in 2004) and has a formal title of Wake Up To A Melody. I originally scored it for jazz band-more specifically for the excellent Salt Lake Alternative Jazz Orchestra, and it has recently been recorded by that group. I like the simplicity of this melody, and felt it would make a natural second movement for this brass quintet.Movement IIIThe third and most difficult movement is Tangoragrondo. It is literally a rondo with a turn-of-the century (19th-20th) ragtime melody/gallop occupying the A theme followed by a Tango (inspired by trips to Santiago Chile) for the B theme. The return to the rag (A theme) is then followed by a fantasy development (C area) with a return to to the rag (A theme) followed by a coda that recalls material from the first movement. The form is quite simple- ABACA-Coda.The material was originally developed as a movement for my double concerto Letting Midnight Out On Bail written for the Duehlmeier-Gritton piano duo and orchestra. It was recorded by the Warsaw Philharmonic and has been released on CD. A second version for two pianos has also been recorded and released by the Duehlmeier-Gritton piano duo. This orchestration for brass quintet will be the final resting place for this chaotic rondo.

Horn,Trumpet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1108151 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Chamber,Christian,Classical,Instructional,Religious. 25 pages. Regis Bookshar #710775. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1108151). Recordare (from Requiem (K. 626) - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart/Franz Xaver Sussmayr - Brass Quintet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. Hauntingly beautiful is how the Recordare from Mozart's Requiem is often described. Originally written for an orchestra and four vocal soloists, it has now been transcribed by Regis Bookshar for a Brass Quintet, consisting of 3 Bb Trumpets and 2 French Horns, and would be a wonderful addition to any music library. This arrangement will provide students with the opportunity to practice breath control because of its long, sustained phrases, and also to give them the chance to play this beautiful composition, something which they may not have had the opportunity to do, otherwise. This selection could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this arrangement. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (25 pages). The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble has performed the Trumpet Quintet version of the Recordare for funerals, providing beautiful, introspective music for the occasion. There is some controversy surrounding the circumstances of the Requiem's composition because Mozart died before he could complete it. Count Franz von Walsegg had commissioned a Requiem Mass but Mozart had received only half of the payment in advance. So, upon his death on December 5th, 1791, his widow, Constanze, wished to have the work completed secretly by someone else and submit it to the count as having been completed by Mozart to collect the final payment. Joseph von Eybler was one of the first composers to be asked to complete the score and had worked on a number of movements but felt unable to complete the remainder and gave the manuscript back to Constanze Mozart. The task was then given to another composer, Franz Xaver Sussmayr. Sussmayr borrowed some of Eybler's work in making his completion, added his own orchestration to other movements and added several new movements which a Requiem Mass would normally comprise. He then added a final section by adapting the opening two movements which Mozart had written to the different words which finish the Requiem Mass, which according to both Sussmayr and Mozart's wife, was done according to Mozart's directions. The completed score, initially by Mozart but largely finished by Sussmayr, was then dispatched to Count Walsegg complete with a counterfeited signature of Mozart dated 1792. Despite the controversy over how much of the music is actually Mozart's, the commonly performed Sussmayr version has become widely accepted by the public, and is considered one of Mozart's finest compositions. The Recordare is considered by many people to be one of the most beautiful compositions in Mozart's entire catalogue. Regis Bookshar, a trumpet player, has performed the Requiem in concert with a full orchestra, soloists and a chorus and felt that other musicians should have the opportunity to play the hauntingly beautiful Recordare as well. So, in addition to this arrangement for a Brass Quintet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this beautiful composition. There are Quintets, Sextets, Septets and Octets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may fine something else which may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of Mozart's Recordare, will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

Trombone,Trumpet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1108145 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Chamber,Christian,Classical,Instructional,Religious. 25 pages. Regis Bookshar #710768. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1108145). Recordare (from Requiem (K. 626) - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart/Franz Xaver Sussmayr - Brass Quintet - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. Hauntingly beautiful is how the Recordare from Mozart's Requiem is often described. Originally written for an orchestra and four vocal soloists, it has now been transcribed by Regis Bookshar for a Brass Quintet, consisting of 2 Bb Trumpets and 3 Trombones, and would be a wonderful addition to any music library. Flugelhorn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1155077 Composed by Gustav Mahler. Arranged by Felix Linsmeier. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical,Romantic Period. 13 pages. Felix Linsmeier #755359. Published by Felix Linsmeier (A0.1155077). Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen (I am lost to the world) is one of Gustav Mahler's most well known songs. Based on a poem by Friedrich Rückert it is part of Mahler's 'Rückert-Lieder' and one of his most beautiful love songs. Mahler himself quotes the melody in his famous 'Adagietto' from the fifth symphony, a musical declaration of love to his wife Alma. The composer himself orchestrated this song for orchestra and soloist, this purely instrumental adaption for brass quintet (with featured Flugelhorn soloist) brings the song back to it's original, chamber-musical intimacy.

Brass Quintet Flugelhorn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.817127 Composed by Bedrich Smetana. Arranged by Charles Decker. 19th Century,Chamber,Contest,Festival,Romantic Period. 20 pages. Charles Decker Music Press #3561977. Published by Charles Decker Music Press (A0.817127). This brass quintet arrangement of the majestic and powerful Fanfare Prelude to Libusa Overture from 1881, composed for orchestral brass by Czech Bedrich Smetana, retains brass choir resonance with five performers. A very accessible work for students, doubling parts within your band and orchestra brass sections further enhances the impact of the fanfare. Trumpet parts in B-flat and C are included and a flugelhorn/trumpet substitute part for horn. The sound file is an actual brass quintet performance and not a computer playback of the score. See my orchestral brass section (4 tpts, 4 horns, 3 trbs, 1 tuba, timp) edition and my brass band version of this fanfare if considering using a larger brass group. See more than 70 mixed brass ensemble publications at Charles Decker Music Press at Sheet Music Plus for inexperienced to advanced musicians with music ranging from the Renaissance to contemporary new works for trios, quartets, quintets, brass choir and brass band.
