3 oboes, 2 violins, viola and basso continuo; harpsichord (piano), viola da gamba (cello, bassoon) ad libitum - intermediate - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q16231 C Major. Composed by Georg Philipp Telemann. This edition: score. Concertino. Downloadable, Score. TWV 55:C6. Duration 23 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q16231. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q16231). Key: C major.Right at the beginning of the overture, Telemann comes up with a surprising idea. After the -„bare entry of the wind section, the string tutti do not join in the playing until the third bar. The „harlequinade often appearing in Telemann’s overture suites obtains its attraction not least from syncopes and from a permanent change of tone colour. The „Espagniol whose title prom-ises a bit of urbanity turns out to be a saraband, the „Bourrée en Trompette justifies its name by the tone repetitions typical of trumpet music. In the context of the whole, the „Sommeille, a harmonically unusual movement in C minor, is almost a piece across the border. Even in this gently rocking piece, Telemann is not at a loss for unobtrusive wit when he lets the upper parts die down shortly before the end, only a single bass tone represents the last chord.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.786200 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Bill Malcolm. Classical. 39 pages. Bill Malcolm #5045593. Published by Bill Malcolm (A0.786200). This arrangement has a 7:33 duration. The overture has a concert ending instead of going directly into the opera the way Mozart wrote it. A clarinet in A part (which lies better) is included. As usual for an orchestral reduction all parts are busy. If printed 2-sided (1 opposite 4 and 2 opposite 3) the parts should have manageable page turns. This is one of my favorite Mozart overtures. Enjoy it!

Flute and Harp - Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750). Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Baroque Period, Repertoire, Wedding, Funeral, Recital. Score, Set of Parts. 7 pages. Published by jmsgu3
Item Number: S0.976609 "Air on a G String" is the popular nickname for the "Air" from Orchestral Suite #3 in D Major, BWV 1068 by J. S. Bach. Duration: 5:53 (taking both repeats). Level: Intermediate and up. Programming: Great choice for recitals and very useful for almost any church service, reception, wedding or any event where insightful meditation is desired. This music is very well known and admired by nearly everyone, so you will have an advantage in providing something familiar and well cherished for your audience. This is the piece to demonstrate dynamic control, tone quality and strategic phrasing of long melodic lines. Air on a G String Bach: Air on a G String - Bach: Air on a G String - ~ Bach composed three noteworthy Orchestral Suites. He wrote his third orchestral suite, BWV 1068 in D, for his Collegium Musicum. The Overture of the suite features a double-dotted rhythm in the French style and employs the entire ensemble: trumpet trio, timpani, oboe duet, and strings. The strings were the typical 2 violin parts, viola part, and continuo of cello and harpsichord. ?Air? - the title of the second movement, is, by contrast, scored only for the strings. It seems like this work was entitled ?Air on a G String? not by Bach, but by a nineteenth-century violinist named August Wilhelmj. He arranged the Air such that the first violin part was performed by a single soloist ? and entirely on the G String.

The Hebrides Overture (Fingal's Cave) for woodwind ensemble
Small Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.956662 Composed by Felix Bartho…
(+)
Small Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.956662 Composed by Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn. Arranged by Catriona Melville-Mason. Romantic Period. Score and parts. 127 pages. C Melville-Mason #6735335. Published by C Melville-Mason (A0.956662). This is an arrangement of Mendelssohn’s overture The Hebrides (Fingal’s Cave), intended for a medium-sized woodwind group of perhaps 20 – 30 players. It has been categorised as ‘advanced’, as the length and tempo of the work make it quite challenging. However, provided the main parts are covered by competent players, those with less experience can either double, judiciously omitting any problem sections, or opt for the appropriate ‘easier’ add-on part. This is great fun to attempt, even if your ensemble may not manage it up to performance standard! The piece is scored for the following instrumentation: Essential Parts: Part 1: Flute Part 2: Flute Part 3: Oboe Part 4: Clarinet in B-flat Part 5: Clarinet in B-flat (contains essential divisi, so minimum of 2 players essential) Part 6: Clarinet in B-flat Part 7: Clarinet in B-flat OR Part 7: Alto Saxophone Part 8: Alto Saxophone Part 9: Alto Saxophone Part 10: Bassoon OR Part 10: Bass Clarinet in B-flat (low C instrument essential) Optional add-ons: Easier Flute/Oboe Low Clarinet in B-flat Easier Alto Saxophone Easier Tenor Saxophone Mini-Bassoon in F (an extra, NOT an easy, part) Easier Bassoon Mendelssohn visited Scotland in 1829 and, after a tour of the Highlands, travelled by steamer from Fort William to Oban and thence to the Hebridean island of Mull. From there, he made the short boat trip to the small island of Staffa, to visit Fingal’s Cave – a sea cave formed of hexagonal basalt columns, with a highly intriguing natural acoustic. The Hebrides overture was inspired by this segment of Mendelssohn’s Scottish travels. The work is an early example of a tone poem: a musical representation of the scenery, wind and weather of the Scottish Hebridean islands, reflecting their sudden and infinite changeability. After some revisions, the overture received its first performance in May 1832 and remains a favourite with audiences to this day. It has been central in establishing – and sustaining – the popularity of Fingal’s Cave as a tourist destination. This arrangement was originally created for a woodwind course held on another Scottish island – Skye, which is the largest and most northerly of the Inner Hebrides.

English Horn,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549625 Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Arranged by James M. Guthrie, ASCAP. Children,Christmas,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and part. 24 pages. Jmsgu3 #3515357. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549625). Duration: ca. 3:20 Score: 13 pages, solo part: 3 pages, piano part: 7 pages, 182 measures in 2/4. Overture in Miniature to Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite.  Program for a recital, church meditation, school plays, and Christmas presentations of all kinds. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Tchaikovsky is probably the most popular of the great composers in America. His music certainly appeals to musicians. Likewise, it appeals even to folks who don’t normally listen to serious music. This is probably because of his most noteworthy melodies. Above all, he writes with great emotion. This certainly makes a most noteworthy if not an unforgettable impact. Education First of all, He attended classes at the Russian Musical Society. Even more, He also attended the St. Petersburg Conservatory. There he studied music theory with Nikolai Zaremba. He also consequently studied composition with Anton Rubenstein. It seems like Rubenstein came under criticism from a group of Russian composers known as the Five. The Five The Five certainly rejected Western musical influences. They rather sought to use elements from Russian music. They furthermore wanted to use more exotic musical materials. Western Techniques More than other Russian composers, Tchaikovsky studied modern Western music. He certainly develops his music like the European masters. So, rather than repeating a motive, he moves to a new key. He then introduces a different theme in the new key. Hence, he maintained his independence from the Five. Even more, he became the first Russian composer of international stature. Influences Tchaikovsky was probably influenced in his ballet scoring by Léo Delibes. Richard Wagner influenced his symphonic writing. Tchaikovsky’s most famous works include the 1812 Overture, The Nutcracker Suite, and Swan Lake. Also famous are the Violin Concerto in D and the six symphonies. The greatest of the six symphonies may be No. 6, the Pathétique. Nutcracker Suite, Op. 71a The Nutcracker Suite is a ballet that was performed for the first time in December 1892 in St. Petersburg. To begin with, the original ballet failed to attract a positive reception. However, the ballet suite became probably one of the most popular of all of Tchaikovsky’s works. The ballet suite became even more famous in the 1960s. It is now performed all over the world, particularly during the Christmas season. Â

It seems like Rubenstein came under criticism from a group of Russian composers known as the Five. The Five The Five certainly rejected Western musical influences.
