Piano Solo - Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827). Arranged by Flavio Regis Cunha. Romantic Period, Repertoire, Funeral, Graduation, Recital. 8 pages. Published by Flavio Regis Cunha
Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata no 8 in C minor, op 13 commonly known as Pathétique (although commonly thought to be one of the few works to be named by the composer himself, it was actually named by the publisher, to Beethoven's liking) was published in 1799, though written the year before, when the composer was 27 years old. Beethoven dedicated the work to his friend Prince Karl von Lichnowsky. At the time of its publication, Beethoven was pleased with the title Pathétique for his op 13 piano sonata, although in later life, he came to regret it, claiming that all of his works were pathetic.<br> <br> The Pathétique Sonata is perhaps the earliest of Beethoven's compositions to achieve widespread and enduring popularity. It is widely represented on the concert programs and recordings of professional pianists. As one of the more famous Beethoven pieces, it has been incorporated into several works of popular culture.<br> <br> The rondo theme of the second movement is one of the most beautiful and famous tunes in the repertoire. This theme is not merely pretty; it is, after the vicious first movement conclusion, a heroic if melancholy affirmation that life goes on, that beneath sorrow and pain, there is still grace and nobility.<br> <br> This Adagio movement opens with the famous cantabile ("in a singing style") melody. This theme is played three times, interspersed with two modulating episodes: the first going from F minor to E flat major, the second from A flat minor to E major. With the final return of the main theme, the accompaniment becomes richer and takes on the triplet rhythm of the second episode. The brief coda's stylistic diversity is arresting: four bars of Romantic transcendence followed by a strikingly conventional 18th-century close.

Piano Solo - Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683-1764). Arranged by FLAVIO REGIS CUNHA. Classical Period, Baroque Period, Wedding, Graduation, Recital. Score. 8 pages. Published by Flavio Regis Cunha
After an attentive and meticulous work of transcription and editing, we offer you this jewel of French Baroque music, in Ólafsson's interpretation.<br> <br> Víkingur Ólafsson describes Rameau's "La Cupis" as follows: The character pieces stem from Rameau’s 1741 chamber music collection Pièces de clavecin en concerts, also prepared by the composer for solo keyboard. Here, the passage of time has rendered the titles somewhat enigmatic. “La Cupis” may be yet another feminine portrait, its potential namesake being Marie-Anne Cupis, a well-known dancer. Why not? The work’s yearning, soulful melodies are surrounded by nimble, dance-like episodes. Watch Víkingur Ólafsson peform Jean-Philippe Rameau's Pieces de clavecin en concerts : II. La Cupis.<br> <br> "In any case, it is full of passion and zest." - Víkingur Ólafsson<br> <br> The score is unique. We at FRC Music have the joy of being able to offer this beautiful transcription for solo piano. You will love playing this piece and your audience will be delighted. Enjoy.

A very pretty piano arrangement of the original song. The original recording of the song was published by EMI KPM library music on its Showtunes album in 2014 and has been used worldwide in radio and TV adverts, however it is probably best known for featuring in a number of episodes of the highly acclaimed Professor T series. I have been often requested about the sheet music which EMI KPM is happy for me, as the writer of the song to release it now. The song can be heard on Spotify, Deezer, Shazam, Apple Music and Amazon Music. The backing track is also available from these music platforms. A Youtube link to the original song is appended.

E-Flat Clarinet,Piano - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1120538 Composed by Daniel Basford. Chamber,Classical,Contemporary. Score and part. 44 pages. Daniel Basford #721780. Published by Daniel Basford (A0.1120538). 4-movement chamber work for solo alto clarinet and piano. Duration approx. 15'30 Please note that the alto clarinet part is included within this PDF file. A separate purchase is not necessary. Introductory note: The alto clarinet is one of the most unfairly maligned woodwind instruments. Frequently derided and ignored, it has suffered decades of unjust ridicule and several times even the notion that it should be made completely extinct has been suggested. Thankfully, many clarinettists and composers feel differently; the alto clarinet is a beautiful instrument full of expression with a great variety of tone. The four movements of Episodes showcase the alto clarinet’s potential as a solo voice and to demonstrate that it can and should have a place on the concert stage. Each movement of Episodes may be performed separately.

Concerto for Trombone and Piano accompaniment (piano reduction)

Piano,Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.810983 Composed by Cherry Classics Music. Arranged by John, W., and Ware. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and part. 63 pages. Gordon Cherry #4601711. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.810983). This fine work has sat dormant for many years and has now come to light thanks to the efforts of Charlie Vernon, Bass Trombonist of the Chicago Symphony, who performed this virtuoso work as a young performer. The concerto is in the standard three movement form: Fast, slow, fast. This publication is a reduction from the original orchestral version (to be released at some point in the future). Here is a description of the Concerto by the composer, John W. Ware. I started on the trombone concerto in my junior year studying composition at Indiana University. While working on it, I learned of an opportunity to make it sort of a thesis piece (though students didn't write a thesis in composition while an undergrad). The original version was for trombone with string orchestra, and it was performed by the IU String Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Arthur Corra, with Robert Priez, trombone, as part of my senior composition recital. I thought the performance was quite good (Priez played extraordinarily well), and the piece received a newspaper review in the Indiana Daily Student, in which the reviewer wrote that the work was almost too exciting. I thought at the time that he had given me and my music a fine compliment. I made a piano version of the accompaniment, shortening and tightening the first movement, for performances in 1966; I made a second revision in 1967 for a performance by E. J. Eaton, trombonist at the University of Tennessee at Martin, arriving at the form in which the work exists now. The first movement is in fairly normal sonata-allegro form, in the key of A minor. It alternates between assertive and more thoughtful moods. There is no introduction; the soloist enters immediately and dominates much of the movement. The main theme is--by some manipulation--a source for most of the other themes, and all of the themes are used in close proximity to each other, including contrapuntal combinations, especially near the end. Originally the movement included a lengthy fugato, now much shortened and including a stretto that builds and subsides before a cadenza leading to a coda based on both the principal and secondary themes. Key relations in this movement, as in the other two, are quite free and often chromatic, with frequent third-relations; but returns to the tonic at the end are emphatic. The writing is challenging for both soloist and accompanist; the piece is substantial, requiring technique and stamina. The second movement is in F minor and is also built on both contrast and close relationships between the main and secondary themes. The main theme is heard in the piano part before the soloist enters. The mood is more lyric than in the first movement, but with dramatic episodes also. In this movement are some definite derivations from themes in the first movement. The ending is a sort of lengthened shadow of the opening. The finale returns to A minor, with themes slightly related to polonaise rhythms, but with strong echoes of first-movement themes. Here, too, dramatic and lyric episodes alternate, with dotted rhythms frequently propelling the music forward. The introduction is a brief and simple preparation for the solo entry. Later in the movement, a very brief, slightly slower section is soon overtaken by the original tempo. Toward the end, there is a second cadenza, again leading to a swift and energetic coda. The work is about 20 minutes in length and is appropriate for advanced performers.

3 Romances, Op. 94 for Oboe and Piano - Robert Schumann

Oboe,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1276462 Composed by Robert Schumann. Arranged by Zellev. 19th Century,Christmas,Classical,Romantic Period,Wedding. Score and part. 22 pages. Zellev Music #868187. Published by Zellev Music (A0.1276462). The Three Romances for Oboe and Piano, Op. 94 (German: Drei Romanzen) is a composition by Robert Schumann, his only composition for oboe. It was composed in December 1849. The work consists of three short pieces in A-B-A form, and it was written during what was speculated to be one of Schumann's manic episodes. An average full performance lasts roughly 12 minutes. The Romances were written in December 1849, one of the most productive years of Schumann's entire career. Previously that year, Schumann had written two other works for wind instruments and piano: the Adagio and Allegro, op. 70, for French Horn and piano, and the Fantasy Pieces for Clarinet and Piano, op. 73. According to Schumann himself, the pieces were written on December 7, 11, and 12th in Dresden., Unlike many other oboes, works at the time, the pieces were not the result of a commission by a prominent soloist of the day. Schumann gave the pieces to his wife Clara Schumann, whom he once described as his own right hand, as a Christmas present, calling them his hundredth opusculum. Schumann's mental health was quickly deteriorating during the time of the pieces' writing; shortly afterward, he moved from Dresden to Düsseldorf, where he was admitted to and eventually died in an asylum. On November 2, 1850, the pieces were first performed privately as a piano and violin piece with Clara Schumann on piano and François Schubert on violin. The works were first performed several years after Schumann's death, in 1863; the performances took place on January 24 and February 14 in the Gewandhaus, featuring Emilius Lund on oboe and Carl Reinecke on piano. The piece was dedicated to Wilhelm Joseph von Wasielewski. The original edition was published by N. Simrock. The publication date is unknown, but it is estimated to have been anywhere from December 1850 to February 1851. Nikolaus Simrock wrote a letter to Schumann on November 19, 1850, asking whether or not Schumann would agree if we were to print on the title page: 'for oboe and pianoforte' and on this with a violin 'for violin and pianoforte' and on the third 'for clarinet and pianoforte,' since it is not looked upon with favor when several instruments appear on the title page. However, Schumann denied the request, replying, If I had originally written the work for violin or clarinet, it would have become a completely different piece. I regret not being able to comply with your wishes, but I can do no other. Two copies of the original printing exist Schumann's copy and Wasielewski's dedication copy (both either in museums or private collections).Disobeying Schumann's wishes, Simrock published alternate violin and oboe parts in the first edition. In her compilation of Robert's works post-mortem, Clara only included the violin transcription, possibly due to her only playing the piece with violinists. There have been several recordings of the music, including a recent one along with other Schumann oboe works by Oboe Classics. The romances are now a standard part of the oboe repertoire and often considered the best piece of romantic repertoire for the oboe.

Piano Trio Cello,Piano,Violin - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.980578 Composed by William Grosvenor Neil. Contemporary. 96 pages. TheComposerStudio.Com, LLC #3467744. Published by TheComposerStudio.Com, LLC (A0.980578). Piano Trio No. 1 (Night of Broken Glass) (2012) (score and parts) for piano trio is a tribute to the children who are often the innocent victims of the tragic and violent actions of men. Although I have referenced the Kristallnacht attacks against Jews throughout Nazi Germany and parts of Austria on 9–10 November 1938, I am, in my musical expression, alluding to all senseless demonstrations of violence that often reach catastrophic proportions as they shatter the lives of children. In these three movements, I juxtapose the intensely orchestrated sonorities with two Jewish traditional lullabies*. The themes, only briefly heard as lyric contrasts to the more aggressive music, interweave and develop their own narrative, gaining an increasing emotional weight as the episodes unfold. In addition, there are two enigma themes that I use to drive the transformation of the music to its emotional climax. Published by Arte Nova Music Lab (A0.742388). Ede Poldini (13 June 1869 – 28 June 1957) was a Hungarian composer of the late romantic / early modern period. Famous in Hungary for writing many operas, he became internationally famous when Fritz Kreisler transcribed his piano piece La poupée valsante for violin.Poldini studied with István Tomka in Budapest and with Eusebius Mandyczewski in Vienna. In 1908 he settled in Switzerland, writing two of his more famous operas: The Vagabond and the Princess (1903) and Wedding in Carnival Time(1924). These were both produced in London, the latter under the title Love Adrift. Himfy was produced in 1938 in Budapest.Poldini is best known for his miniature piano pieces, such as La poupée valsante, given wider audience in Fritz Kreisler's transcription, Arlequinades, Morceaux pittoresques, Episodes à la cour, Images, and Moments musicaux. Marionettes were seven piano pieces that he later orchestrated. His one-act opera Der Vagabund und die Prinzessin was given 14 times in Dresden in 1916/17 under Fritz Reiner with a cast including Ludwig Ermold, Minnie Nast, Georg Zottmayr and Richard Tauber. He died in Vevey, Switzerland in 1957, aged 88. Piano,Trombone - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.811191 Composed by Mark Narins. 20th Century,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and part. 101 pages. Gordon Cherry #6069485. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.811191). Cherry Classics is pleased to introduce Concerto for Trombone and Orchestra 2020 (Piano reduction) by San Francisco based composer/conductor Mark Narins. The concerto is in 4 movements: I. Prayer, II. Meditation, III. Call and Response, IV. Exaltation Here is a description of the work by Mark Narins, the composer: Prayer: The first movement starts with a shimmering tremolo in the strings over which the silver voice of the trombone plays an arching phrase that lingers on an extended appoggiatura. The trombone is a lone mystic reaching for the sky and then falling perilously down to the pedal register. Later the orchestra breaks into a frenetic vamp over which the trombone plays intense ascending scales and passage work. The movement ends with an ascent to a high C#, moving to a final ringing high C. Meditation: After the harp lays out a series of arpeggiated chords, the trombone plays a warm, rich theme in the middle range. The following episodes are variations on this theme. The trombone moves into the upper register, floating with the ease of a lead trombone in a big band. The movement ends with an ascending yearning phrase reaching a high D as the soloist touches the sky and then comes gently back to earth. Call and Response: The orchestral accompaniment starts in an anxious, mysterious tonality. The trombone enters with a burst of energy playing a machine gun series of Fs. The movement develops into a series of short brilliant solo passages answered boldly by the orchestra. This movement showcases the stunning declamatory powers of the trombone. Exaltation: Movement 4 starts as an allegro with intense tremolos in the basses. The trombone breaks out into an articulated driving theme followed by several extended melodic passages. Midway in the movement the strings abruptly lay out a syncopated Latin dance rhythm over which the trombone climbs from the bottom to the top of its range in rapid triplets. In the final codetta the trombone accelerates the dance tempo and climaxes on a series of high C#s in a brilliant and joyous fashion. The concerto is 27 minutes in duration and is appropriate for advanced performers. This version with Piano is a reduction of the full Orchestral version (to be published in the near future). The new Trombone Concerto by Mark Narins is a very exciting piece with dramatic contrasts between the slow and fast sections. The move to the finish of the piece makes for a great wrap-up. It's a real blow for the player, really exploring the range of the instrument. It will be demanding and fun for the trombonist. Ken Andresen, New York freelance musician
