Choral Choir,Choral (SATB divisi) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1308788 Composed by Charles Tenet. Arranged by Tobi Crawford. Jazz. 11 pages. Tobi Crawford #898034. Published by Tobi Crawford (A0.1308788). *Purchase 10 copies to perform this piece with your ensemble of any size*Purchase the instrumental pack (bass and drum part) here: https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/en/product/beyond-the-sea-instrumental-pack-only-22605052.htmlThis arrangement came to me over a number of weeks in a very organic way that began with the ostinato piano figure that prevails throughout the piece. I began playing it unattached to any tune and I just liked the way the line descended in the left hand and how I had to find voicings in the right hand that made harmonic sense – like a puzzle. As I was playing around with this puzzle, thoughts of my father were swirling around in my head – I was at the end of a 4 year period of separation from my parents owing to the fact that I’m a Canadian expat living in the US and the borders were closed for a long time because of Covid, and then I had work visa issues and my parents were getting older before my eyes. They were also losing friends to cancer and other ailments and my dad, in particular, had experienced the loss of many close family members and friends during our separation and it was taking a toll. One day I sat down and played the now familiar-to-me ostinato but randomly I started to sing “Beyond the Sea†over it and it fit perfectly. I thought it a happy coincidence. As the days went on I committed to putting my ostinato with Beyond the Sea and the lyrics started to seep into my brain. I have, of course, heard these lyrics many times before, (who hasn’t seen Finding Nemo?) but the lyrics didn’t mean what I thought they meant… They’re NOT about the ocean, they are about my dad!!! Well, kind of… I realized, through careful reflection and by slowing the words down, that the lyrics are talking about a person in heaven who is patiently waiting for their partner to join them. Somewhere beyond the seaShe’s there watching for me…It’s far beyond the starsIt’s near beyond the moon And the lyrics end with them meeting, “We’ll meet beyond the shore, we’ll kiss just like before,†and the song ends with: “and never again I’ll go sailing.†It’s like the big bang went off in my head about why all these thoughts of my dad, and his friends, and this arrangement, and what it all meant suddenly just MADE SENSE and I was able to start formulating a plan. Performance Suggestions: The improvisation solo in the middle should be free of any traditional “scat syllables†and should be more of a lament. Listen to singers like Aubrey Johnson improvise on ballads for inspiration. An idea for that improv section might be to have a male singer start the improv, then a female singer joins (as if together in heaven) then they sing letter F together (warning: will cause tears…). All solo sections do not have to be sung as written – soloists can take liberties with the melody as the spirit moves.

Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1114067 By Budapest Scoring String Quartet. By David Warin Solomons. Classical,Comedy,Contemporary. Full Performance. Duration 136. David Warin Solomons #715968. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.1114067). Instrumental quartet based on my choral piece The Choir in the Rain which is a sequence of limericks written and set to music by the composer imagining the scene if a choir were made to sing in the rain, complete with colds, coughs, sneezes and fever. Original limericks: (Introductory words: pitter patter pom etc) Our conductor was trying to train our choir to sing in the rain the music got wet and to our great regret we finally had to refrain So all of us went back indoors and we sang from our poor dripping scores but the audience cheered as we persevered and demanded sev'ral encores It was then that we all started sneezing the basses were coughing and wheezing The altos in harm'ny sniffed not very calmly but the audience thought we were teasing The Sopranos then noticed their dresses were shrinking and causing distresses the buttons they popped and the tenors they hopped as those buttons shot right past their faces It seemed that the choir was dissolving and the room started slowly revolving we'd all caught a cough it near carried us off as the fever we'd got was evolving We finally reached the last ditty in that chilly and rain sodden city oh we're told that in Spain it just rains on the plain but here it soaks both plain and pretty Performed by Violin 1: Csongor Veér Violin 2: Anna Fehér Viola: Péter Kondor Cello: Mátyás Ölveti of Budapest Scoring.

Musical Traits: Strong melody in right hand piano that reflects the vocal line. Her earliest memory was watching her mother play classical piano. She began piano lessons at the age of 8, and started composing shortly thereafter.Stevens approaches her compositions as an artist. She paints musical portraits of the things that bring meaning to life: relationship to living things, emotional healing, discovering what matters most and honoring that as best we are able. Stevens' beautiful piano-based music aligns one with their own heart. Although some of her music can be described as New Age, her roots are heavily based in classical and jazz. Her study of classical composition makes her music more complex than some New Age music. Her music has been likened to the impressionistic composers such as Claude Debussy. Sydney's formal training is also reflected in her ability to compose for orchestral instruments. Her latest release, Cycles of Life, was solely recorded and produced by Sydney, programming all of the virtual instruments.Sydney has a great love for jazz. Keith Jarrett was an influence on her with his innovative and improvisational piano recordings and performances. She was particularly impressed with the freedom of style he portrayed in his performances. Bill Evans was something Sydney heard played as a young child. Where her mother was a classical pianist, her father was a jazz pianist. Perhaps that's why some of Sydney’s music can be described as a crossover between classical and jazz--remnants from those early years. Joni Mitchell and Judy Collins were big inspirations for Sydney's songwriting. She was especially drawn to the deeply emotional lyrics in many of their songs.Cycles of Life, the title track from Sydney's current release, was composed for her late step dad. The song is about the cycle of birth and death: Cycles of life go on, yet we carry all that we've known and loved through the ages. Time, another track on Sydney's current release, is a song about how time passes more quickly when we are doing something we cherish. Brian's Song, inspired by the loss of her father-in-law, reflects: All that really matters is the way we fill our heart, and the ways that it has loved. Dawn, a track from Sydney's album Seasons, is a beautiful piano-based instrumental with light string background. It portrays that very peaceful hour as the sun slowly lights up the world -- the hour of dawn.Sydney is a poet. She sees the world through a heart that feels the joy and sorrow of the world and those she meets. Her gift is the ability to transfer that emotion into music. Listening to her music is like taking a journey. She delves into depths of emotion, often taking the listener to places that can be difficult to go without the comfort of a beautiful song to accompany them.In addition to being a prolific composer, Stevens runs a.

Perfect for ceremonies, cocktail hour, and even proposals, this arrangement brings the beloved classic song to life with just as much passion and as many layered harmonies as the original. That's why Cellobat Charts is here: to provide students and working string players alike with high-quality versions of highly requested music. My arrangements are guaranteed to be energetic, fun to play, and enjoyable to listen to, whether or not you're familiar with the original songs. Hear the difference for yourself! Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1008264 Composed by William Brenner. Contemporary. Score and parts. 80 pages. William Brenner #5370501. Published by William Brenner (A0.1008264). Halifax was devastated on 6 December 1917 when two ships collided in the city's harbour, one of them a munitions ship loaded with explosives bound for the battlefields of the First World War. What followed was one of the largest human-made explosions prior to the detonation of the first atomic bombs in 1945.(...)In early December, one of the merchant ships in port was the large, Norwegian vessel Imo, en route from Halifax to New York to pick up relief supplies (...) Another was the French munitions ship Mont-Blanc - filled with tons of benzol, the high explosive picric acid, TNT and gun cotton - arriving in Halifax to join a convoy across the ocean.(...)The Imo was departing the harbour on the morning of 6 December 1917 (...) Imo had an experienced, local harbour pilot on board, William Hayes, who knew the navigation rules of the harbour. However, earlier encounters that morning with two inbound vessels moving towards Bedford Basin - both of which Imo had passed starboard-to-starboard - resulted in the unusual position that Imo now occupied, too far to the east (...) The Mont-Blanc had arrived outside Halifax the previous day and anchored overnight at the mouth of the harbour. On the morning of 6 December, the ship was cleared by harbour authorities to proceed toward Bedford Basin. Despite the Mont-Blanc's dangerous cargo, there was no special protocol for the passage of munitions ships in the harbour. Other ships such as the Imo were not ordered to hold their positions that morning until the Mont-Blanc had made safe passage through the port. Francis Mackey, Mont-Blanc's pilot, was guiding the ship inbound on the Dartmouth-side of the Narrows, when he encountered the Imo heading straight towards him in what he believed was Mont-Blanc's lane. Mackey would later maintain that the Imo was moving at an unsafe speed for such a large, unwieldly ship in the harbour, and also that incoming ships (in this case Mont-Blanc) had the right-of-way over outgoing vessels. Regardless of the accuracy of those claims, what is certain is that the Imo was sailing too far to the east, in what should have been Mont-Blanc's path. After a series of whistles and miscommunications between the officers and pilots on the two ships, and failed manoeuvres to avoid a collision, the Imo struck the starboard bow of the Mont-Blanc. After a few moments the two ships parted, leaving a gash in Mont-Blanc's hull and generating sparks that ignited volatile grains of dry picric acid, stored below its decks. (...) The Mont-Blanc exploded at 9:04:35 a.m., sending out a shock wave in all directions, followed by a tsunami that washed violently over the Halifax and Dartmouth shores. More than 2.5 square km of Richmond were totally levelled, either by the blast, the tsunami, or the structure fires caused when buildings collapsed inward on lanterns, stoves and furnaces.Homes, offices, churches, factories, vessels (including the Mont-Blanc), the railway station and freight yards - and hundreds of people in the immediate area - were obliterated. (...) Across Halifax, there were miraculous stories of survival. And equally, stories of tragedy. Many children were killed on their walk to school that morning, or blinded by flying glass. Those that survived the blast stumbled home, only to find their houses shattered, or their parents dead or wounded, among the wreckage. (...) Every year on 6 December, people gather above the Narrows to hear the ringing of the memorial's carillon bells, and to remember the victims of the disaster. www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/halifax-explosion

Digital Download PRO: BMI (ISRC: QZDA81912907) Original Sound Recording produced by Visionary Quest Records (www.visionaryquestrecords.com)Your intermediate level to advanced students and even professional musicians should find this to be a welcomed piece to learn and master. It looks deceptively simple but the learning and challenge comes from two smaller sub-ensembles playing together in their own collective units legato con moto while playing together as a whole music ensemble Everyone will enjoy and bathe in the beautiful harmonies that will resonate when the entire music ensemble begins to listen to each while playing together as a group. Your musicians will hone their skills in playing together with just the right balance that this song requires. Your musicians will also hone their skills for subdividing and maintaining an inner beat that is in sync with your conducting because there is no percussion and the notes are freely flowing on and off the down beat yet not sounding heavily syncopated when performed. When will you know when you have achieved the right balance and flow of the music? You will know when, because you will hear it and feel it when it comes into place. But I can help you with all of this with what I have to offer you today. I share with you now Tears from My Eyes: Mourning in the Rain (for Clarinet Choir).Tears from My Eyes music collection is very suitable and moving for funerals, memorials, church, or contemplative settings. Helpful hints: In addition to getting the counts down, even more important is to practice feeling the music collectively together because rigid counting takes away from the flowing emotive nature of the piece. There are actually 3 smaller ensembles within this piece that all three subgroups must musically move together in harmony, rhythm, and balance. When that is achieved, the music and harmonic overtones will be exquisite. The instrumentation is also so important because of the timbre that each instrument contributes to the ensemble. Musicality is key to this piece. This song is the title song on Tito Abeleda's album Mourning in the Rain released on 9/11/2019.Contact info: Tito AbeledaVisionary Quest Recordshttps://www.visionaryquestrecordsEmail: tito@visionaryquestrecords.comFollow Tito on Social Media:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/titoabeledaTwitter: https://twitter.com/titoabeledaInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/tabeledaYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/titoabeledaSpotify: http://bit.ly/TitoAbeleda-on-SpotifyiTunes/Apple Music: http://bit.ly/TitoAbeleda_iTunesPerforming Rights Organization is BMI.com.Customer Service: 800-925-8451

Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Multi-Percussion,Oboe - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.816703 Composed by Guy Bunce. Contemporary. Score and parts. 11 pages. Enigma Music #4984881. Published by Enigma Music (A0.816703). Entrainment (2009)Written for New NoiseOboe & PercussionEntrainment is the process by which two oscillating systems, which have different periods when they function independently, assume the same period when interacting. The principle of entrainment is universal, appearing in chemistry, pharmacology, biology, medicine, psychology, sociology, astronomy, architecture to name but a few. This piece explores the entrainment of tempo with two initially diverse tempo structures synchronising after a period of four minutes. At the start of the score the oboe begins at 137 bpm and the percussionist at 63 bpm. Over the course of the four minutes the percussionist speeds up whilst the oboist slows down resulting in the tempi synchronising at four minutes. After four minutes the two instruments begin a discourse in unison (rhythmically, melodically, and dynamically): the musical equivalent of total synchronisation. In the final section of the piece the parts diverge with the percussionist slowing down and the oboe part maintaining its speed. As with many of my pieces, the starting point for Entrainment was an external source, in this case the song Time by Pink Floyd. The rhythmic lines throughout Entrainment are based on the rhythm to the bass line of the first part of Time. This can be clearly seen in the opening in which the oboe part employs this rhythm.Harmonically Entrainment consists of a series of key centres whose period is determined by points within the four minutes where either of the two independent parts briefly synchronise at the semiquaver level with the unit of a second. At each of these points (which become more frequent as the piece progresses), the harmonic centre changes. The harmonic centres relate directly to the chord structure of Pink Floyd's Time: at each point where either part synchronises with seconds the harmonic centre in both parts moves one chord through Time's chord sequence. At 2' 19'' the percussion and oboe part synchronise (albeit briefly) for the first time. This event was used to mark the start of more polytonal harmony as both instruments from this point forward begin their own cycles through the Time chords. Throughout the piece, points of synchronisation are highlighted musically.Performance mp3 recordings that contain a dual click track for the first four minutes of the piece can be obtained by contacting guybunce@hotmail.com. The click track is arranged so that the oboe click is on the left channel and the percussion click is on the right. An alternative click track (track 3) is also provided using a different sound (a beep). The performers should wear the headphone in one ear which corresponds to the track of their part. The dual click track can then be played on a single CD player (or mp3 player) with the output going to both sets of headphones using a headphone splitter or other device. Alternatively, files can be put on either two iPods or Mp3 players. The players will then have to synchronize the beginnings of each track. It is possible to play the piece without the use of the click track(s). If this is the case, performers should use the metronome markings and general layout of the score to aid performance. It is advisable that one player (possibly the oboist) sets the tempo and tempo changes, and the other player follows. It was not always possible to represent accurately the relationship between the two parts in the score. Arrows have been added on the score to show points of synchronisation where the score layout differs.

Instrumental Duet Guitar,Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.596568 Composed by Juan MarÃa Solare. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 9 pages. Juan Maria Solare #4717703. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596568). Has the Rain a Father? This piece exists in two versions: Piano solo Guitar solo (without or with electronic sounds) The piano version has no huge secrets (to clarify: the pedal is used da capo al fine without interruption). The guitar version is written in three keys: E, G and A (Dorian). The performer may choose one or another score at their convenience. The guitar version can also use effects of all kinds, or amplifiers that are not always used in classical music. At the end of 2019 an album will be released on Spotify and other online music platforms with both versions of the piece (solo piano and acoustic guitar with electronic sounds). As an example of the amplitude that the composer expects from the performers: in this record production, the guitar signal is split in two parts, panned to the right and left, and different types of effects are applied to each channel (chorus, delay, reverb of different kinds and with different parameters). The original guitar signal is also in the center. Of course, there are also the electronic sounds themselves. A preliminary version can be heard here: https://juanmariasolare.bandcamp.com/album/has-the-rain-a-father Has the Rain a Father? is a quote from the bible, specifically from the book of Job 38:28. It is part of a series of rhetorical questions that tend to convince Job of his ignorance. Has the Rain a Father? was composed in Bremen (Germany) on March 17, 2019 (plus details to the piano part on March 27). Its duration is about 4:30. I asked some people about the wording of the title. Among the meaningful answers: Which wording is better, Has the rain a Father? or Does the Rain have a father? (Bible, Job, 38:28). It will be used as the title of a music piece for piano. Has the Rain a Father? is slightly unusual, and thus is attention-grabbing, something you want in a title. It sounds more biblical, calling attention to the allusion. In ordinary speech the Does the . . . version is more common, but for a title you don’t necessarily want common. (Johnny Wilson, former Writer and Magazine Editor (1973-1999))

Concert Band - Digital Download SKU: A0.917412 Composed by Gregory Fritze. 20th Century,Contemporary,Folk. Score and parts. 370 pages. Musica Nova USA #6321277. Published by Musica Nova USA (A0.917412). The Four Seasons in the Basque Country is a 4 movement symphony for concert band. It is the Third Prize Winner of the 2020 American Prize in Composition - Concert Band. Grade 5, duration 27 minutes. The piece depicts four different places in the Basque country that the composer feels best show the changes of season. The first movement is Winter in the Costa Norte (Galerna). Galerna is on the northerncoast and is subject to harsh storms in the winter. As the piece starts off with a light-hearted dance in thepiccolo, a storm is approaching from afar. At first the storm seems to be in the distance but as it comes closer it overtakes the festivities in a bluster. For a short time two conductors are needed as the concertband is split into two groups – one showing the light-hearted dance led by the piccolo, the other thecacophony of the storm led by the percussion. The storm overtakes everything as it ends the movement with a flourish. The second movement Spring in Rioja Alavesa is a calming contrast to the first movement like the freshness of a spring day. The sun rises and shines beams of light onto the acres of grape vines. After a timea short rain comes to refresh and clean the plants. The third movement Autumn at the Guggenheim Museum is in a traditional 3rd movement form of a symphony, minuet and trio, but the harmonies sometimes use bitonality, having the melody in one key while the accompaniment is in another to suggest surrealism. The Guggenheim Museum in Bilbaois one of the world’s most famous museums, not only for the surreal art inside, but also because of the architecture of the building itself. The fourth movement Summer in Bilbao is based on a dance melody composed in the Ezpata- dantza Basque style. It employs a rhythmic element with alternating 6/8 and 3â„4 meters where the eighth notes are basically equal, but in the dance the 3â„4 meter is actually a little bit longer. This type of subtlemanipulation of rhythm is used similarly in the Viennese Waltz, when the 3rd beat would be stretched outto accommodate the dancers. The Ezpata-dantza dance continues until the Altza Gastiak, the officialsong of the Bilbao Athletic Club, the local soccer team of Bilbao, is heard. After this the Ezpata-dantzamelody is transformed from a happy dance to a triumphant melody and rousing finale. In The Four Seasons in the Basque Country all of the themes are original except for the short excerpt ofAltza Gastiakin the 4th movement. Some themes are composed in the style of Basque folk dances.Gregory Fritze is a prize-winning composer and Fulbright Scholar, as well as an active performer. He recently retired from Berklee College of Music where he was Professor and Chair of Composition, serving on the faculty from 1979 to 2016. Full Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1004734 Composed by Adrian Gagiu. 20th Century,Classical. Score and parts. 524 pages. Adrian Gagiu #6631587. Published by Adrian Gagiu (A0.1004734). Fourth Symphony in E flat major Homage to Beethoven (2003, revised 2021), a Neo-Classical symphony based on Beethoven's sketches for his Tenth Symphony, like a speculative reconstruction. In 1822-1827, the fascinating Tenth Symphony (Biamonti 838) was one of Beethoven’s relatively advanced projects, but still it was at the beginning of its elaboration. The material is not quite abundant, and many secondary features in the concept sketches could have been modified, according to his working habits, should he have lived a few years more. For a true reconstruction, the sketches are too scarce, but they are also too good to be left aside and very stimulating for a composer, especially for one whose formation is indebted to Beethoven and who is willing to pay him homage. I have chosen a Neo-Classical idiom, an approach analogous to Stravinsky’s The Fairy’s Kiss (after Tchaikovsky). For such a work, the thorough study of fundamental articles on Beethoven’s projects and sketches (by Barry Cooper, Sieghard Brandenburg, Robert Winter, Martin Staehelin, Nicholas Cook, and Lewis Lockwood) was a necessity. Then, in 2021, the symphony was heavily revised, mainly to make it terser and truer to the sketches and to Classical practices For this symphony, all the thematic material is Beethoven’s, and also the general outline, as much as the latter could be inferred from his sketches. In its revised version, I made use only of the sketches clearly identifiable as intended for the Tenth Symphony and dating from 1822 and later years (most of the themes of its corresponding movements), but also of a few other sketches, most of them contemporary or relatable, unused or intended for other compositions: in the continuation to the second subject group in the first movement, in the second strains of the Presto and of its Trio, and in the transitions and the episodes in the Finale. The symphony has 4 movements and is scored for a normal concert orchestra, including 3 trombones. The revised version makes use also of a contrabassoon, to support the double basses and suggesting a stronger presence of the winds like in the larger scale concerts in the Classical era (usually with doubled winds).Total duration: 34 min. Performing Rights Organization: SOCAN. The mp3 audio clip is a recording of the first movement (Andante-Allegro-Andante).

The rhythm instrumentation is authentic and Nashville style number chord charts are provided. Optional strings are available to add depth to the worship experience. Curry creates a musically satisfying way to include non-traditionally trained musicians to the community's worship. From the longing of Great Jehovah to the unbridled joy of Resurrection Jubilee, this is a journey you don't want to miss. Titles: Come Thou, Long Expected Jesus * Appalachian Cradle Song * Great Jehovah * Resurrection Jubilee * We Gather to Recall the Night * Come Holy Spirit, Heavenly Dove. Curry, as eclectic a choral writer as they come, sets six anthems, suitable for various seasons in the church year (including Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus for Advent and Resurrection Jubilee for Easter), in a style that would be right at home on a T-Bone Burnett roots-music album. And like Burnett, Curry expertly crafts the vocal score and accompaniments to be earthy yet polished, so that even those who aren't fans of this genre will find something to enjoy here. -Warren Anderson, Worship Leader magazine

Solo Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1165227 By Judy Garland. By E.Y. Yip Harburg and Harold Arlen. Arranged by Richard Hirsch. 20th Century,Broadway,Multicultural,Musical/Show,Standards,World. Individual part. 7 pages. Richard Hirsch #765578. Published by Richard Hirsch (A0.1165227). With inspiration in Isreal Kamakawiwo’ole’s Somewhere Over the Rainbow and What a Wonderful World mashup, I offer an arrangement of the song Over the Rainbow for solo acoustic guitar. In my childhood The Wizard of Oz was one of my favourite fairy tales, especially as I spent a few of my early years in the little town of Winfield Kansas where tornadoes were a constant threat. I still remember huddling in the cellar with my mother and little brother when a tornado warning had been broadcast. With this in mind, the first part of the arrangement is meant to resemble a whirlwind that takes us up to the dreamland of Oz portrayed in the slower second part. In the third part, we come back down to waking reality in another mirror image whirlwind. The arrangement has an afro-flamenco character with two tiers of rhythm. Tier one is the normal 4/4 rhythm with accents at 1 and 3. Tier two consists of accents falling on beats 2 and 2& and 3& of the 4 beat measures. Tier two can be highlighted by clapping or tapping with a table knife on a bottle at beats 2 and 2& and 3&, with the strongest accent on 3& (an upbeat). The piece ends with a chord of natural harmonics on the 3& upbeat. The natural harmonics in the rhythmic fingerpicking resembling a kalimba (thumb harp) add an African touch to the piece. The piece is within reach of advanced intermediate students of fingerstyle or classical acoustic guitar. Besides the polyrhythmic fingerpicking, in the second dreamland part the piece offers the opportunity to play a broken chord of right hand harmonics, usually a real hit with listening audiences. I give suggestions for left and right hand fingering where I think necessary. The suggested tempo is presto for the fast first and third parts, but they could be played even faster for dramatic effect. The slow dreamland second part should be played with the melody floating lazily over the beat. The piece is a good follow up to my arrangements, also available at SheetMusicDirect and SheetMusicPlus of Freight Train and What a Wonderful World that use the same fingerpicking techniques.

Woodwind Ensemble Bass Clarinet,E-Flat Clarinet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1135165 By Ella Fitzgerald. By Traditional. Arranged by Vanessa Klassen. Jazz,Religious,Spiritual,Standards. 21 pages. Vanessa Klassen #735208. Published by Vanessa Klassen (A0.1135165). “Just a Closer Walk with Thee†dates back to the southern African-American churches of the nineteenth century, frequently being performed as part of a traditional New Orleans-style funeral march. Composer Kenneth Morris heard a train station porter singing the song while traveling from Kansas City to Chicago in 1940. The music became so prominent in his mind that Morris exited his train and took a different train back to the previous station to ask the porter to sing it again. Morris wrote down the music and lyrics and had the song published. The song soon became a standard in both the gospel and jazz genres and has since been recorded by numerous artists. The original author or composer is unknown. This arrangement for clarinet quintet is closely based on Ella Fitzgerald’s recording of the song which was featured on her 1967 album, “Brighten the Corner.†Ella’s voice is represented in the Clarinet 1 part which has been transcribed exactly as she sung. There is also a simplified Clarinet 1 part which is easier to read and allows the soloist more freedom to embellish as desired. The accompanying parts are the background vocals and upright bass, with the light piano riffs in the E♠Clarinet part. The E♠part may be omitted for an easier quartet version. The biggest challenge in this arrangement is the balance as the solo is often in the lower register of the clarinet (below the break).

Stephen R Dalrymple #3566019. Published by Stephen R Dalrymple (A0.818257). Abraham’s Daughter: March from the Civil War ♫ by Septimus Winter (1861) ♫ with When Johnny Comes Marching Home by Patrick Gilmore a.k.a. Louis Lambert (1863). ♫ arranged for concert band by Stephen R Dalrymple ♫ After a family trip to Gettysburg, Antietam, Harper’s Ferry, and Ford Theater, I created a concert band arrangement to solidify the trip in my mind using a popular Civil War song from the North, “Abraham’s Daughter,†and a song used by both North and South, “Johnny Comes Marching Home.†♫ Music was a means for soldiers to release the tensions of war. By December 1861 the Union army had 28,000 musicians in 618 bands, not counting soldiers who travelled with violins and other musical instruments. Soldiers often sang as they marched by day and at night in camp. Musical duels were not uncommon between Union and Confederate bands. This idea inspired the last section of the arranger where the 2 songs are played against each other. ♫ Septimus Winner wrote “Abraham’s Daughter†in 1861 for the Minstrel stage. “Abraham’s Daughter†pictures a fresh recruit that is on his way to Washington DC to be processed and trained for future battles. ♫ Given the unpublished verses we have, Abraham’s Daughter was undoubtedly sung and embellished by Union soldiers as they travelled from battlefield to battlefield. ♫ Winner is also known for writing “Ten Little Injuns†“Listen to the Mockingbird†and “Where, Oh Where Has My Little Dog Gone?†♫ Abraham Lincoln had 4 sons, Robert Todd, Edward Baker, William Wallace, and Thomas (Tad); but no daughters. So, who is Abraham’s daughter? ♫ Oh! Should you ask me who she am, Columbia is her name, sir; She is the child of Abraham, Or Uncle Sam, the same, sir. Now if I fight, why ain't I right? And don't you think I oughter. The volunteers are a-pouring in From every loyal quarter, And I'm goin' down to Washington To fight for Abraham's daughter. ♫ At the beginning of the war, the majority of soldiers, North and South, were fighting to uphold their view of government, each side justifying its position by quoting the Constitution. Southern States saw each State as a sovereign, independent nation. Abraham Lincoln insisted that the United States were one nation. For Abraham Lincoln, the purpose of the war was to preserve the Union. Full Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1160033 Composed by Marilena Zlatanou. Contemporary. 36 pages. Marilena Zlatanou #760301. Published by Marilena Zlatanou (A0.1160033). Composed on the backdrop of the Russian Invasion of Ukraine and inspired by the tragically still current writings of Lesya Ukrainka, (Laryssa Kossatch, 1871–1913). In this piece the composer is extending and futher developing the musical material of her existing composition for a cappella SATB choir: A LAMENT FOR UKRAINE (2022), on Ukrainka's poetry, this time for Symphony Orchestra. Towards the end of this piece fragments of the Ukrainian National Anthem are also incorporated as an homage to the spirit and the hopes of the brave resistance of the Ukrainians. My intention is to provide a musical reminder to this tragic event of our time... Duration: ca 6'40''. The pdf file provided contains both the full score and the parts. The mp3 file is made straight from the sibelius score. The composer is a member of TONO, the Norwegian Copyright org. For more information on her work please visit webiste www.zlatanou.netÂ

Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1158148 Composed by Dr. Daniel N. Thrower. 20th Century,Chamber,Classical,Historic,Patriotic. 47 pages. Https://gildedmusicpress.com/ #758453. Published by https://gildedmusicpress.com/ (A0.1158148). From the Shadow's Edge was commissioned by horn player in the US Air Force Bands, SSgt Alena Zidlicky, to honor her grandmother Beluse Urlich Zidlicky (Babi), who escaped the oppressive Nazi occupation of Czechoslovakia during WWII. For brass quintet and percussion, the horn is featured. The music of this composition begins in aural darkness, as if immersed in an inescapable shadow. The tense harmonies and contrapuntal motions of the brass are accompanied by two heartbeat motifs, in the tuba and bass drum, conjuring sentiments of fear and uncertainty. Emotions swell as the solo horn enters with contrasting triplet rhythms that struggle against the complex mixture of duple strains throughout the other parts. This dark introduction serves as a prelude to the above storyline, which transitions quickly (and trepidatiously) out of the shadow. From rehearsal letter B through the remainder of the piece, hope permeates in the brightness, once escaped from the shadow’s ominous edge. The complex nature of the thematic overlapping and polyphonic texture of the quintet as a whole provide feelings of unrest, anticipation, hope, and yes, heroism. Nothing exudes heroism more than a soaring solo horn! This composition celebrates triumph over evil, whether during life or in death, and those who press on with a brightness of hope even in the darkest shadows that life can cast, as exemplified in the life of Beluse Ulrich Zidlicky.

Come, Ye Faithful, Raise the Strain - brass quintet

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.726098 Composed by Jan Roh. Arranged by Todd Marchand. Christian,Easter,Sacred. Score and parts. 17 pages. Con Spirito Music #5374805. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.726098). Come, Ye Faithful, Raise the Strain is a resurrection hymn-text authored by the Byzantine priest, theologian, and poet, St. John of Damascus (c. 675-754). He is counted among the Fathers of the Eastern Orthodox Church and is regarded by the Roman Catholic Church as one the Doctors of the Church. The English translation of the hymn was completed by the Anglican priest, scholar, and hymn-writer John Mason Neale (1818-1866) and published in his Hymns of the Eastern Church (1862).  Come, Ye Faithful, Raise the Strain is typically sung to either of two hymn tunes: ST. KEVIN, by the English composer Sir Arthur Sullivan (1842-1900), and GAUDEAMUS PARITER, by the Bohemian bishop, hymn writer and composer Jan Roh (c. 1487-1547). The latter tune is the basis for this arrangement. With introductory and concluding fanfares, exposition of the tune in various instrumental combinations and harmonizations, and rich, powerful sonorities throughout, it is ideal as a prelude or postlude to Easter worship, or for use at any time. ©Copyright 2020 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Easy Piano - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1309996 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Elizabeth Essex. Children,Folk,Instructional,Standards,Traditional. Score. 26 pages. Elizabeth Essex #899121. Published by Elizabeth Essex (A0.1309996). Students of any age will recognize the melodies in My Favorite Songs on the Black Keys and will want to sing along!Ideal for young beginners who can differentiate fingers and know their numbers, this first book in the series, Part A, contains only songs playable with one hand on one set three black keys. Each song is arranged in finger number notation for right and for left hand. The left-hand notes are colored red as well as turned stem down to assist in differentiating right and left-hand notes. When printed double-sided, the left hand page is on the left side and the right hand page is on the right side. I recommend learning these songs in the order given, singing the songs first, then sight reading. Try memorizing each song and try playing them hands together too!As an added bonus, some helpful worksheets are in the back of the book.Table of Contents:Hot Cross Buns – LH Hot Cross Buns – RHRain is Falling Down – LH Rain is Falling Down – RHThe Closet Key – LH The Closet Key – RHMary had a Little Lamb – LH Mary had a Little Lamb – RHPease Porridge – LH Pease Porridge – RHDown by the Station – LH Down by the Station – RHGently Sleep – LH Gently Sleep – RHThe Long-legged Sailor – LH The Long-legged Sailor – RHPiano Finger Numbers 1Piano Finger Numbers 2Draw Quarter NotesDraw Half NotesSong-writing Exercise: Opus 1 See my other arrangements:Sheet Music Press (copyrighted music available)https://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/elizabeth-essex-sheet-music/3018847Sheet Music Direct (copyrighted music available)https://www.sheetmusicdirect.com/en-US/Search.aspx?query=Elizabeth%20EssexTop Music Marketplace (piano studio licenses available)https://topmusicmarketplace.com/pages/seller-profile/elizabeths-music-artsTeachers Pay Teachers (classroom licenses available)https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Elizabeths-Music-And-ArtsTo commission an arrangement or set up Zoom piano or art lessons, contact Elizabeth: https://elizabethmusicnarts.wordpress.comm.

Piano Solo - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.899948 Composed by Traditional Melody. Arranged by Jeanne Allie. Christmas,Instructional,Standards,World. Score. 1 pages. Jeanne Allie #3101887. Published by Jeanne Allie (A0.899948). Beginner level arrangement of this popular Christmas/wintertime song. Written for right hand only, this piece begins with the hand in A minor position. It has one position change when preparing for the run, and the run includes a typical '1 crosses under the 3' change, as well as two accidentals. Then the hand position returns to A minor for the return to the first theme to end the piece. This piece is easily learned by students at the beginner level. I have two more arrangements, both in A minor, one at the late elementary level and one at the intermediate level. Students recognize the eighth note run, as it's the same for each arrangement, and this is very motivating and reassuring to them. My students enjoy 'collecting' these arrangements as they advance, as the holiday season rolls around again and they are ready to learn the next arrangement.
