String Trio Cello,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1282833 Composed by Dr. John Bull. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Chamber,Contest,Early Music,Festival,Historic,Renaissance. 11 pages. Jmsgu3 #874076. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1282833). John Bull was an English composer, organist, virginalist, and organ builder who lived from 1562/63 to 1628. He was educated as a chorister of the Chapel Royal in London and later became a doctor of music at the universities of both Oxford and Cambridge. Bull was one of the most famous composers of keyboard music of the early 17th century, and most of his compositions were written for the virginal, a keyboard instrument popular in the Renaissance period. He was known for his outstanding technical ability and keyboard virtuosity, and his music is distinguished by unfailing resourcefulness in devising new musical ideas. Bull's reputation rests on his extensive compositions for virginals and organ, some 150 extant pieces published in Musica Britannica. He was also one of the contributors to Parthenia, a collection of keyboard music published in 1611. Bull wrote an anthem, God the Father, God the Son, for the 1613 wedding of the princess and the Elector Palatine, in addition to his keyboard compositions, verse anthems, canons, and other works. Bull's music ranked among the foremost composers along with Byrd, Gibbons, and Tomkins.John Bull had several contemporaries who were also prominent composers during the Renaissance period. Some of these composers include:William Byrd: Byrd was an English composer and one of the most influential figures in English Renaissance music. He was a contemporary of John Bull and is considered one of the greatest composers of his time. Byrd's compositions include sacred choral music, keyboard works, and consort music.Orlando Gibbons: Gibbons was an English composer and organist who lived during the same period as John Bull. He was known for his sacred choral music, particularly his anthems and verse anthems. Gibbons' compositions are characterized by their expressive harmonies and intricate counterpoint.Thomas Tomkins: Tomkins was another English composer who was active during the same time as John Bull. He was known for his sacred choral music, including anthems and services. Tomkins' compositions are notable for their rich harmonies and expressive melodies.Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck: Sweelinck was a Dutch composer and organist who was highly regarded during the Renaissance period. He was known for his keyboard music, particularly his variations and fantasias. Sweelinck's compositions had a significant influence on Bull and other composers of the time. These composers, along with John Bull, were influential figures in the development of Renaissance music and significantly contributed to the repertoire of keyboard and choral music during that era.

String Quartet Cello,String Quartet,Viola,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1291367 Composed by Dr. John Bull. Arranged by James M. Guthrie. Chamber,Christian,Historic,Religious,Renaissance. 26 pages. Jmsgu3 #882018. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.1291367). John Bull was an English composer, organist, virginalist, and organ builder who lived from 1562/63 to 1628. He was educated as a chorister of the Chapel Royal in London and later became a Doctor of Music at both Oxford and Cambridge Universities. Bull's music ranked among the foremost composers along with Byrd, Gibbons, and Tomkins. The significance of John Bull's Salvator Mundi lies in its historical and cultural importance as a musical composition. John Bull was a prominent English composer, and his work Salvator Mundi is part of the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book, a collection of keyboard music from the late Elizabethan and early Jacobean periods. Bull's music is highly regarded, placing him among the foremost composers of his time, along with Byrd, Gibbons, and Tomkins. The term Salvator Mundi also appears in a papal bull issued by Boniface VIII in the 14th century, which was a definitive statement of the late medieval theory of hierocracy, emphasizing the pope's supremacy. Salvator Mundi is also known as the title of a famous painting attributed to Leonardo da Vinci, which has been the subject of extensive investigation regarding its materials and techniques. Therefore, Salvator Mundi holds significance in music, history, and art.

Small Ensemble Alto Recorder,Bass Recorder,Harpsichord,Tenor Recorder - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.799476 Composed by Roy D. Ayer and Roy D. Ayer. Arranged by Drake Mabry. 20th Century,Broadway,Jazz,Pop,Ragtime. Score and parts. 27 pages. Drake Mabry #3010723. Published by Drake Mabry (A0.799476). King Chanticleer is a Broadway-style ragtime piece composed in 1910, first as a song and later as a piano solo. It is still a staple of many ragtime and stride pianists. This arrangement for recorder ensemble (with optional harpsichord) remains faithful to the beauty and vitality of the original while adding a few surprises. Note the soft-shoe section, the quote from the Dies Irae and the surprise ending. If needed, the instrumentation may be moved up beginning with sopranino recorders. The harpsichord part adds no new material but just adds harmonic support to the recorders. This arrangement was commissioned by Kathleen Arends for The Big Byrds recorder ensemble in Seattle. The duration is 3'50.

Bassoon,Clarinet,Double Bass,Flute,Horn,Oboe,Tuba - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.553712 Composed by Gustav Holst. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century. 24 pages. RayThompsonMusic #3540881. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553712). The First Suite in Eâ™ for Military Band, Op. 28, No. 1, by the British composer Gustav Holst is considered one of the cornerstone masterworks in the concert band repertoire. Officially premiered in 1920 at the Royal Military School of Music, the manuscript was originally completed in 1909. Along with the subsequent Second Suite in F for Military Band, written in 1911 and premiered in 1922, the First Suite was the catalysing force that convinced many other prominent composers that serious music could be written specifically for the combination of woodwinds, percussion and brass. Â Works such as the English Folk Song Suite (1923) of Ralph Vaughan Williams and the William Byrd Suite (1923) of Gordon Jacob are leading examples. This is my arrangement of the second movement Intermezzo It is arranged for wind dectet/double wind quintet and bass.
