Woodwind Choir or Ensemble - Advanced Intermediate - Digital Download Composed by Gustav Holst (1874-1934). Arranged by John Gibson. 20th Century, Folk. Score, Set of Parts. 90 pages. Published by JB Linear
Gustav Holst - Folksongs of Hampshire England . In the early 1900's there was great interest in collecting and preserving the folk songs of England, Scotland, and Ireland. Equipped with their newly invented recording devices, people such as Cecil Sharp, Charles Stanford, Ralph Vaughan Williams, and Gustav Holst would travel into the country-side to record, or notate songs being sung. They would frequently use these songs in their own compositions. Holst's music in particular is filled with those songs and his two suites for band are especially valued by wind bands around the world. This group of four songs was arranged for voice and piano by Holst and set for woodwind choir by John Gibson. The songs are 1. Young Edwin in the Lowlands Low 2. Bedlam City 3. The Irish Girl 4. Young Reilly. The instrumentation is the standard group of woodwinds found in a band piece: piccolo, flutes. oboes, bassoons, clarinets, bass clarinets, alto and tenor saxes, and baritone sax.

Acoustic Guitar,Instrumental Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1152774 Composed by Traditional/Anonymous. Arranged by Socrates Arvanitakis. Classical,Early Music,Folk,Traditional. Individual part. 44 pages. Socrates Arvanitakis #753011. Published by Socrates Arvanitakis (A0.1152774). This is the eighth volume of an extensive collection of folk songs arranged for the classical guitar mostly in two-part counterpoint. The arrangements are of moderate difficulty and the aims of this publication are to familiarise, entertain and educate guitarists (and other musicians) with a melodic repertoire of lasting aesthetic value, under the light of contrapuntal treatment. The thirty five volumes of this collection can certainly be printed on paper if so desired and there are a few pages in each volume, either blank or with photographs of various musicians, which can be inserted at will in any place for the correct ordering of left and right hand pages so that page turns can be avoided. The principle of avoiding page turns has been maintained in all volumes, but this edition is also designed with mobile electronic devices in mind such as tablets etc, using the environment and facilities of a score reading application, towards a paperless world, at least in music. Therefore the size of the staves is bigger than usual for ease of reading on a small screen but not big enough to exceed the limit of a two-page view. Active internal links for navigating from thematic indexes to particular songs and back to indexes have been added, and also external internet links to sites that give further information for the 945 songs of this first collection for classical guitar.Folk Songs For Classical Guitar - Volume 8 (Songs 190-216)Coconut TreeCodfish Shanty (The)Cold Blows the Wind  1 (Shropshire)Cold Blows the Wind 2 (The Unquiet Grave)Cold, Haily, Windy NightCollier’s Rant (The)Come All You Fair and Tender LadiesCome all you True Good ChristiansCome All You Worthy Christian MenCome all you worthy GentlemenCome Away to the SkiesCome buy my fine herringsCome O’er the Stream CharlieCome Write me DownCome, Tune Your Cheerful VoiceConstant Farmer’s Son (The )Constant JohnnyCooper Of Fife (The)Cosher BaileyCottage thatched with straw (The)Coulter’s CandyCoventry Carol 1Coventry Carol 2 (Lulle Lullay)Crocodile (The)Cropper’s Song (The)Cruel Mother (The)Cruel Ship’s Carpenter (The).

Contemporary,Folk,Romantic Period,Standards. 18 pages. Regis Bookshar #6533959. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813842). Largo (from Symphony No. 9 in E minor) (From the New World) (Db) (Woodwind Quintet) - Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of the Largo, based on the second movement of Antonin Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 in E minor, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services, especially Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. This arrangement is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (18 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from the The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time.Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95 (subtitled From the New World and popularly know as the New World Symphony), was composed by Antonin Dvorak in 1893 while he was the director of the National Conservatory of Music of America from 1892 to 1895. It premiered at Carnegie Hall in New York City on December 16, 1893 and has been described as one of the most popular of all symphonies. The second movement of the symphony, upon which this arrangement is based, is marked Largo, and begins with a harmonic progression of chords which is then followed by a solo instrument playing the famous main theme.Dvorak was interested in Native American music and the African-American spirituals he heard in North America. While director of the National Conservatory he encountered an African-American student, Harry T. Burleigh, who sang traditional spirituals to him. Burleigh, later a composer himself, said that Dvorak had absorbed their spirit before writing his own melodies. Dvorak stated:    I am convinced that the future music of this country must be founded on what are called Negro melodies. These can be the foundation of a serious and original school of composition to be developed in the United States. These beautiful and varied themes are the product of the soil. They are folk songs of America and your composers must turn to them.He further explained how Native American music influenced his symphony:  I have not actually used any of these (Native American) melodies. I have simply written original themes embodying the peculiarities of the Indian music, and, using these themes as subjects, have developed them with all the resources of modern rhythms, counterpoint, and orchestral colour. In 1893, a newspaper interview quoted Dvorak as saying, I found that the music of the negroes and of the Indians was practically identical, and that the music of the two races bore a remarkable similarity to the music of Scotland. Most historians agree that Dvorak is referring to the pentatonic scale, which is typical of each of these musical traditions.Dvorak was influenced not only by music he heard, but also by what he had seen, in America. He wrote that he would not have composed his American pieces as he had if he had not seen America. It has been said that Dvorak was inspired by the wide open spaces of America, such as the prairies he may have seen on his trip to Iowa in the summer of 1893. Notices about several performances of the symphony include the phrase wide open spaces about what inspired the symphony and/or about the feelings it conveys to listeners. The theme from the Largo was adapted into the spiritual Goin' Home (often mistakenly considered a folk song or traditional spiritual) by Dvorak's pupil, William Arms Fisher, who wrote the lyrics in 1922. Regis Bookshar thought it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to this version for a Woodwind Quintet, consisting of 1 Flute, 1 Oboe, 1 Clarinet, 1 French Horn and 1 Bassoon, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this.

Full Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.746971 Composed by Montenegrin folk song. Arranged by Keith Terrett. 20th Century,Multicultural,Patriotic,Praise & Worship,Traditional,World. 27 pages. Keith Terrett #5205655. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.746971). The National Anthem of Montenegro arranged for Symphony Orchestra. There are versions for Brass Quintet & String Orchestra in my on-line stores.Oj, svijetla majska zoro (Montenegrin Cyrillic: „Ој, Ñвијетла мајÑка зоро, trans. Oh, Bright Dawn of May) is the official National anthem of Montenegro adopted in 2004. Before becoming the anthem, it was a popular folk song of the Montenegrins, with many variations of its text. The oldest one is dated to the 2nd half of the 19th century, known as Oh, Bright Dawn of Heroism, oh!, a popular Montenegrin folk song.It was played in public for the first time in 1863 in the national theater in Belgrade. It was a component song of the Battle of Grahovo or blood feud in Montenegro (Бој на Грахову или крвна оÑвета у Црној Гори) heroic play in three parts. It is unknown if the text’s authors are also the play’s, namely the following Montenegrin composer/writers: the father of Marko Car Jovan Car and an unknown Obrad Vitković. The play and the Montenegrin folk song was also played/sung in the National Theater again in 1870 and 1876. Its first record in Montenegro itself dates to 1887, when it was included into the regular school program of Montenegrin national songs for pupils in the 3rd grade. It was reconfirmed in the teacher’s plan for Montenegrin schools of 1888, which speculates that it must have been an established folk song for decades by then.Sekule Drljević, party strongman of a minor political party which was active in the Yugoslavian Kingdom in Montenegro known as the Montenegrin Federalist Party, rewrote the text and published it in 1937 in the book of then’s Croatian writer of Montenegrin origins Savić Marković Å tedimlija known as Crvena Hrvatska (Red Croatia), which confounded the thesis not of a Serb ethnic origin of the Montenegrins, which was the dominant one back then, but rather from the Croats. Its name was Eternal Ours… (VjeÄna naÅ¡a). When Nikola Hercigonja wrote down Oh, Bright Dawn of May shortly after WWII ended after 1945, he erroneously concluded that Drljević was the original wholesale author of this song, which also led to its considerable decline in popularity as a Montenegrin folk song altogether. The song survived until today under various names as a popular Montenegrin folk song under the name Oh, Bright Dawn of May (Oj svijetla majska zoro). This version of the song has been one of the several versions proposed in 1993 during the first discussion on the official anthem, however, on which there was no consensus because of the disputed melodic value.Need an anthem fast? They are ALL in my store! All my anthem arrangements are also available for Orchestra, Recorders, Saxophones, Wind, Brass and Flexible band. Jupiter (Andante Maestoso from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets) (Woodwind Quintet) - Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts and recitals but if you are considering using this selection for church services in which a congregation may sing along, I would suggest that you look for the arrangements of either I Vow to Thee, My Country, O God, Beyond All Praising, O Spirit All Embracing or Thaxted, also by Regis Bookshar. They are all based on the same excerpt from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets. These arrangements are suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing these selections as well. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (9 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. We have performed the Trumpet Quintet version of this composition quite often for numerous weddings and other special occasions. The Planets, written between 1914 and 1917 by the English composer Gustav Holst, premiered at the Queen's Hall in London, on September 29, 1918 for an invited audience of about 250 people. In the fourth movement, Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity, Holst portrays Jupiter's supposedly characteristic abundance of life and vitality. Nobility and generosity are allegedly characteristics of those born under Jupiter, and in the slower, middle section marked Andante Maestoso, perhaps the most well-known theme from The Planets (and the theme on which this arrangement is based), Holst provides a broad tune embodying these traits. In 1921, Holst adapted the theme to fit the patriotic poem I Vow to Thee, My Country by Cecil Spring Rice, and was written as a unison song with orchestra. It did not appear as the hymn tune until 1926, when Holst harmonized this melody, named Thaxted, named after the English village where he had lived for many years. Holst's friend Ralph Vaughan Williams included it in Songs of Praise. It has since been performed at numerous occasions, most notably for the wedding of Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales in 1981, and also at the funerals of Princess Diana in 1997, Margaret Thatcher in 2013 and Senator John McCain where it was performed at the Washington National Cathedral on September 1, 2018. In addition to being used as the melody for the solemn, patriotic hymn I Vow to Thee, My Country, other settings of this hymn tune also include O God, Beyond All Praising, by Michael Perry in 1982, O Spirit All Embracing by Delores Dufner in 1995 and We Praise You and Acknowledge You, O God, a paraphrase of the Te Deum Laudemus by Stephen P. Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for a Woodwind Quintet, consisting of 1 Flute, 1 Oboe, 1 Clarinet (which has the lead), 1 French Horn and 1 Bassoon, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection. There are Quintets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of Jupit.

Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for a Woodwind Quintet, consisting of 1 Flute (which has the lead), 1 Oboe, 1 Clarinet, 1 French Horn and 1 Bassoon, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection. There are Quintets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. Acoustic Guitar,Instrumental Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1167752 Composed by Traditional/Anonymous. Arranged by Socrates Arvanitakis. Classical,Early Music,Folk,Traditional. Individual part. 46 pages. Socrates Arvanitakis #768119. Published by Socrates Arvanitakis (A0.1167752). This is the thirtieth-fifth volume of an extensive collection of folk songs arranged for the classical guitar mostly in two-part counterpoint. Therefore the size of the staves is bigger than usual for ease of reading on a small screen but not big enough to exceed the limit of a two-page view.Active internal links for navigating from thematic indexes to particular songs and back to indexes have been added, and also external internet links to sites that give further information for the 945 songs of this first collection for classical guitar.Volume 35 (Songs 919-945)Wild, Wild Berry (the)Will Ye No Come Back AgainWill you go lassieWilliam TaylorWillie Brook (William Cook)Willie DooWillie drowned in EroWindy Old WeatherWithin a GardenWoodsmans Alphabet (the)World I have Forsaken (the)Wraggle Taggle Gipsies-O (the)Wreck of the Sloop John B (the)Yankee DoodleYarmouth is a Pretty TownYe Banks And BraesYe Mar’ners AllYe People All, In God RejoiceYe’re sair dung, Annie, or, Bervie’s BraesYellow BirdYellow Rose of Texas (the)Yellow Sheepskin (the)Young BankerYoung Bucks A-Hunting GoYoung CollinsYoung HerchardYoung William.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet Bassoon,Clarinet,Flute,Horn,Oboe - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.912070 By The Beatles. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by Ray Thompson. 20th Century,Broadway,Musical/Show,Pop. 11 pages. RayThompsonMusic #518001. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.912070). Arranged standard wind quintet Your Mother Should Know is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1967 EP and LP Magical Mystery Tour. It was written by Paul McCartney and credited to Lennon–McCartney.Titled after a line in the 1961 film A Taste of Honey, its lyrical premise centres on the history of hit songs across generations. McCartney said he wrote it as a plea for generational understanding and respect for a mother's life experience. In the Magical Mystery Tour television film, the song serves as a big production number in the style of a 1930s Hollywood musical. Some commentators view the sequence as cultural satire, as the Beatles are seen dancing and dressed in white evening tails. Your Mother Should Know is in the music hall style, further to McCartney's earlier composition When I'm Sixty-Four.He first offered it as the Beatles' contribution to the Our World satellite broadcast in June 1967, but the band favoured John Lennon's All You Need Is Love for its social significance. The initial sessions for the song took place at Chappell Recording Studios in London towards the end of August. The group were visited there by their manager, Brian Epstein, a visit that marked the last time he joined them in the studio before his death on 27 August.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1314982 Composed by William Kersten. Classical,Opera,Romantic Period. Score. 23 pages. William Kersten #903730. Published by William Kersten (A0.1314982). Inspired by the Victorian and Romantic poetry of Christina Rossetti, Anne Bronte, Thomas Hood and Thomas Beddoes, the Five songs form a cycle of joy, sadness, love, death and exultation.  The music is scored in two versions: Normal Vocal Range and Wide Vocal Range.1. A Birthday Christina Rossetti (1830-1894) My heart is like a singing bird Whose nest is in a watered shoot; My heart is like an apple-tree Whose boughs are bent with thick-set fruit; My heart is like a rainbow shell That paddles in a halcyon sea; My heart is gladder than all these Because my love is come to me. Raise me a dais of silk and down; Hang it with vair and purple dyes; Carve it in doves and pomegranates, And peacocks with a hundred eyes; Work it in gold and silver grapes, In leaves and silver fleurs-de-lys; Because the birthday of my life Is come, my love is come to me. 2. Echo Christina RossettiCome to me in the silence of the night; Come in the speaking silence of a dream; Come with soft rounded cheeks and eyes as bright As sunlight on a stream; Come back in tears, Oh memory, hope, love of finished years. Oh dream how sweet, too sweet, too bitter sweet, Whose wakening should have been in Paradise, Where souls brimfull of love abide and meet; Where thirsting longing eyes Watch the slow door That opening, letting in, lets out no more. Yet come to me in dreams, that I may live My very life again though cold in death - Come back to me in dreams, that I may give Pulse for pulse, breath for breath: Speak low, lean low, As long ago, my love, how long ago. 3. There is dew...â€Thomas Hood (1799-1845)There is dew for the flowret And honey for the bee, And bowers for the wild bird, And love for you and me. There are tears for the many And pleasures for the few; But let the world pass on, dear, There's love for me and you. 4. We do lie beneath the grass...â€Thomas Beddoes (1803-1849) We do lie beneath the grass In the moonlight, in the shade Of the yew-tree. They that pass Hear us not. We are afraid They would envy our delight, in our graves by glow-worm night. Come follow us, and smile as we; We sail to the rock in the ancient waves, Where the snow falls by thousands into the sea, And the drowned and the shipwrecked have happy graves.  5. My soul is awakened...â€Â Anne Bronte (1820-1849)My soul is awakened, my spirit is soaring And carried aloft on the wings of the breeze, For above and around me the wild wind is roaring Arousing to rapture the earth and the seas. The long withered grass in the sunshine is glancing, The bare trees are tossing their branches on high, The dead leaves beneath them are merrily dancing The white clouds are scudding across the blue sky. I wish I could see how the ocean is lashing The foam of its billows to whirlwinds of spray, I wish I could see how its proud waves are dashing, And hear the wild roar of their thunder today.

Woodwind Ensemble,Woodwind Quintet - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.957284 Composed by Bach, Martin Luther. Arranged by Ander. Baroque,Easter,Renaissance,Sacred,Wedding. 51 pages. Woods Only, Arrangements #6748165. Published by Woods Only, Arrangements (A0.957284). This album contains 5 of Johann Sebastian Bach's most famous and versatile pieces for woodwind quintet, all very well suited for the beginners who want to get to know the baroque repertoire. They are also suitable for performances at events such as: weddings, Christian and church ceremonies, Easter, and academic recitals or concerts. They can be used in music institutions and by teachers as repertoire material and study methods, either for performance or instrumental technique. This collection includes a totally free bonus for you to enjoy: Martin Luther's A Mighty Fortress is Our God, a Renaissance sacred song for choir, which has been adapted for this set. You can also buy each one individually by checking right at the end of each description of each work.1: Air on the G String - The original piece is part of Johann Sebastian Bach's Suite No. 3 for orchestra, in D Major, BWV 1068, written for Prince Leopold of Anhalt. The so-called Air on the G String dates from one of these latter employments. In the service of the Prince of Cöthen, Bach composed not only the famous Brandenburg Concertos, but also several orchestral suites, from the third of which comes the Air on the G String. This curious title derives from a later arrangement of this piece for violin solo, in which the melody is played entirely on the lower, higher string of the instrument. ID: S0.11896992: Arioso - The Cantata 156 (BWV 156) was written for the third Sunday after Epiphany in 1729, and was first performed on January 23 of that year. The text is by Picander, one of Bach's favorite librettists. Of the four cantatas written by Bach for the feast, it was the last and only one scored for solo voice. This is a choral cantata, employing a choral melody in several movements. Cantata 156, in fact, employs two different choral melodies and texts in the second and sixth movements. A cantata is a sung symphony consisting of several parts, one of which is the Arioso, which is the initial instrumental part. ID: S0.11898993: Jesu, joy of man's desiring - This is one of Bach's most beautiful cantatas, made famous by the Jesus the Joy of Men chorus. It was originally composed for Advent 1716 in Weimar. Years later, already in Leipzig, Advent was tempus clausum, there was no music in the churches. Bach then reworked it for the Feast of Mary's Visitation. It is the final chorale of the cantata Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben. Although it is the 32nd cantata composed by Bach, of those that have survived, it was given BWV 147 in the complete catalog of his works. ID: S0.11900074: O Jesulein süss, o Jesulein mild - The Jesulein süß, the Jesulein mild is an original traditional German choral melody for voice and continuous bass arranged by Johann Sebastian Bach around 1735. With lyrics by Valentin Thilo, O Jesulein süss is a sacred melody adapted and catalogued as BWV 493. The first translation is by Dirk van Hogendorp, who made it more of a song for the time of suffering. ID: S0.11901035: Minuet in G major - This famous piece has traditionally been attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach, as it appears in the Notebook for Anna Magdalena , a notebook that Bach gave to his wife Anna Magdalena in 1725 and which was to be filled with the favorite selections of Bach family members. However, recent research has concluded that this minuet, sometimes referred to as BWV Anhang 114. was probably composed by Christian Petzold, a German composer and organist contemporary with Bach. ID: S0.1190269Bonuses: A Mighty Fortress is Our God, by Martin Luther - Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott is a hymn written by Martin Luther probably before 1529. The melody was also considered his work for a long time, but it was created at least with the collaboration of Johann Walter. The song is of great symbolic power for Protestantism; where it is also known a.

In the fourth movement, Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity, Holst portrays Jupiter's supposedly characteristic abundance of life and vitality. Starke in 1999.Regis Bookshar thought that it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to the Trumpet Quintet version and this version for a Woodwind Quintet, consisting of 1 Flute, 1 Oboe, 1 Clarinet, 1 French Horn and 1 Bassoon (which has the lead), he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of I Vow to Thee, My Country based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jup.

Arranged by Regis Bookshar. 20th Century,Contemporary,Multicultural,Standards,Wedding,World. 9 pages. Regis Bookshar #6474009. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813700). I Vow to Thee, My Country (Thaxted) (Bb) (Woodwind Quintet) - Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of I Vow to Thee, My Country, a hymn tune based on the Andante Maestoso section from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from Gustav Holst's The Planets, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for church services, especially Weddings and Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. However, if you are looking to perform this selection for concerts or recitals, I would suggest you look for the arrangement of Jupiter (Andante Maestoso from Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets), also by Regis Bookshar.
